Fairness Doctrine: I Question The Timing

While it has a news hook, we have Obama trying to marginalize Limbaugh, Fairness Doctrine chatter from a host of liberals in Congress, and now Bill Press is so desperate to have Congress take greater control of the airways so he can make a living, he tells us that Air America would have been a smashing success if only it had had a "level playing field."

Yes, those evil money grubbing capitalists only take a break from their pursuit of cash when given the chance to flood the airways with conservative talk so as to pollute unsuspecting minds who happen to tune in while surfing the radio waves. Why else would they purposely sabotage that virtual gold mine, liberal talk radio?

Of course, Hollywood wouldn't have to balance its consistently left leaning content and there's nothing wrong with the liberal bias found on the large television networks, or with the dying newspaper industry. It's only talk radio that concerns the Left. They're coming, folks. They have power. They want to keep it. And they don't want any opposition to their use of it if they can find a way to shut it down.

There's a fight coming. Get ready. I imagine they've looked at the numbers and believe they can win it if the larger public that doesn't listen to talk radio fails to get engaged. Hopefully this will end with the Left being defeated and embarassed as they should be.

You'll hear the progressive voices of Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Lionel -- or, during morning drive, my own "Bill Press Show" -- providing welcome relief from the constant Obama-bashing by Rush Limbaugh and others. Unfortunately, today's the last day you'll be able to do so.

I agree with him about the probability of success had he had a "level playing field".
I disagree with his as to what would make it "a level playing field".
Get CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN to fire the far left staffs, and report from the middle, and there would have been a sellable market for far left broadcast media.
With the prevalence of liberal print media and Hollywood, it wouldn't be as large as the current demand for honest and balanced media reporting plus right wing personalities like Savage.
With CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN filling any possible demand for far left advocacy, there wasn't any room for Air America. All that audience was sated.

Bill Press used to be one of the TV shows, was it Capital Gang? He was angry and mean IMO. Wasn't he a Jesuit at one time?

Speaking of fairness. Here is unfairness. Nancy Pelosi's government-paid propaganda organ presents a chart that doesn't consider total population in comparing job losses over time. This is like comparing the cost of Time magazine in 1963, when it was $0.25 to its cost now without considering inflation. What BS!

Consider this. The "fairness doctrine" is a door that swings both ways. So Rush gives some genius like Rosie O'Donnell 15 minutes to shriek about crap she has no idea of......say how "steel doesn't burn"........Conversely, Say Rosie has her own airheads in amerika radio show and shrieks about steel and fire..........Now, big mouth has give thousands of engineers, scientists, fire chiefs, construction wokers equal time to tell her audience what a total dumbass she and her theories are.......With a small bit of honesty people might actually begin to listen to liberal talk shows...

It is interesting but quite scary too. The new meme of the Dems is: "wasting money" is, for lack of a better word, good.

I wrote about this station and "Obama1260" some weeks ago. It turns out, that the genome and loans that station also owns WTNT on 570. can at station until recently was labeled "McCain 570" I think you'll find if you look, that the monikers were pulled off of both stations simultaneously.

What's happening here, is Liberal talk doesn't sell. No wonder, then, liberals tend not to trust the free market.
