If you believe Yglesias' view, any opposition to Card Check is because of Fat Cat businessmen, otherwise known as "the Man" dropping big bucks to "keep the peeples down." But if you're of a conservative mindset and work in a Big Labor union, it's the union boss who is every bit as much, if not more so seen as "the man." Been there, done that when young, I know. And my experience is far from unique.
What’s happening is that even though the Republican Party lost the last election, the wealthy business interests who’d been financing the Republican Party can’t be defeated at the ballot box.
Meanwhile, Chris Bowers argues for a "Blue Dog proof" majority in the House. Gee, where was that wisdom in November when a considerable number of Democrats ran to the Right of their Republican contenders, bashing them for the same type of decisions Bowers wants to see more of.
They simply can't accept the notion that the powers that be at the DNC used them to raise tons of money, while realizing that outside of the Northeast and large cities, their approach was a dead end.
Maybe that's why Time characterized DailyKos as an "over-rated and increasingly rudderless blog." The establishment sucked the juice out of them, now other than lip service, they can blog around and froth.
I've a nephew learning a trade through a Big Labor union. Unfortunately, thanks to government, it's the only way he can. They called him to the Hall last November, handed him some signs and shirts and told him where to go. He threw them down, told them the same thing and took the day off.
He's going to do alright for himself, that kid - once he's out on his own. That way he can make a better living without the Union man limiting his pay in some backwater shop.

People don't realize that some unions are designed to keep people out. One of my daughters tried to "shape" for the NY Daily News. She never got hired. And I knew one of the union guys. He told me they didn't want women working as mailers.
I worked for a shipping company years ago. In order to get a job on a ship one had to be a union member, but to become a union member one had to have a job on a ship.
A niece of mine tried to get into Local 3 of the Electrical Union. She had pulled cable as a telephone worker in the World Trade Center and later was a telephone installer. No dice, and her father-in-law was the President of a prestigious affiliate union. No women wanted.
I would not want to be the employee who said "no" on the union card check only to have the union be approved. The union thugs would make sure they got rid of all the "no" people, or harass them until they left

I hate UNIONS, ALL OF THEM. THEY ARE THE DOWNFALL OF AMERICA AND ANY ONE WITH A BRAIN KNOWS THIS.
Maybe some of the mob bosses need to start going missing.
Something is going to have to be done to put a stop to these DAMN UNIONS.

Taking your one or two examples from your life and thinking this proves that people don't want unions is the height of arrogance. Polls have shown consistently that many Americans want a union in their workplace but are too intimidated to organize one. Furthermore, Unions consistently create workplaces where the employees get better wages, treatment, and benefits. Because you once worked in one workplace with a union, you think you're expert on the subject? Your blowhardiness knows no limits.

Polls have shown consistently that liberals are morons.

I'm a Teamster(23 years) LOL, and I promise you that if Card Chech was allowed to be voted on BY ONLY UNION MEMBERS, it would fail and it won't be close.
