This is insane. The so-called stimulus package is now up near another trillion dollars. That after trillions have already been spent.
$335 million for STD prevention? What the hell does that have to do with helping the economy??
Michelle has a more comprehensive run down and the names and numbers for Congress. Our voices in opposition need to be heard. The private sector grows the economy, government only drains it. All the Democrats are trying to do is take advantage of a bad economy and Hopey McChange fever to do what they always do - spend money and grow government in ways many Americans do not want.
This is a shameful exploitation of bad economic times in large part brought about by government intrusion and mistakes by both sides of the aisle. It's time to tell Washington we've had enough and they've already spent enough of our and our Grandchildren's money for all of our lifetimes. And if they go through with this the time in office for any of them supporting this madness won't be very long.
Kill the bill and melt the phones! ... before these corrupt idiots kill the American dream for generations to come. We have to work our way out of these hard times. Government has no effective solution. They will only make things worse.

Did you ever think Obama might just want to do what is best for the country. I know it's hard with Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, O'Reilly, Beck, Fox News, and the like denigrating him all the way.
Seriously, turn that garbage off and read. We'll all be better off.

Brother Knight it looks like the Republican's have finally decided to grow a set. Good for them but better yet, good for the country!
These leftist tools are looking like the Keystone cops more and more everyday.
Maybe one of them can help Barry walk through that plate glass window at the White House!

I agree, I am glad to see no GOP house members voted for the stimulus boondogle....however, they need to REALLY hit the reasons why in their home districts...
Not sure there is much point to trying to put forth a coherent message w/the national media...they will just paint them as obstructionists no matter what kind of rationale they lay out.
Did anyone see the ad from the CATO Institute that had a couple hundred economists who signed on to say that this stimulus package was the worst possible course or action?

jharpie, you're one of those pathetic frontrunners sitting on the bandwagon that is Obamism. When the wheels come off the gravy train, you will disappear from the blogosphere like the maggot you are.
Just as Carter paved the way for Reagan, Barry will bring in Sarah or someone just like her to clean up the liberal mess.

"You know Kat Bobby Jindal and Palin are looking better every day!"
For Gods sakes Obama has been in office for one week.
You, kat and SacTownMan, are out of your gourds.

I didn't see the ad, Anon, but am glad that we are finally beginning to see some opposition to the takeover of the United States by these Leftists. Whether it will be enough in the long run is difficult to assess, but there is not a snowball's chance in hell of stopping this initial assault. But at least I see some life in the opposition. Hell, I was beginning to wonder.

Thanks for asking. These are two I recommend. Daily. Two that are not profiting from their opinions. And two PHD's who are sorta like "experts" in their field.

I know the wingnuts prefer the two dropouts, Hannity and Limbaugh, who profit immensely promoting right wing nonsense. Someday you'll figure it out.

house dems voting 'no'
AL-bright, griffith
FL-boyd
ID-minnick
IN-ellesworth
MD-kratovil
MN-peterson
MS-taylor
NC-shuler
PA-kanjorski
TN-cooper
an irony that the dems were courting 11 gop houses memebrs, only to lose 11 of their own.
As unemployment continues to rise, the other blue dogs are going to feel some pain. For the first time, in a loong while, there is a ray of hope for the gop.

The problem the GOP has is that they were all for deficit spending for the last 8 years...so even though they are the only hope the country has in the short term, it is pretty hard to take them seriously when they complain about huge deficits since they were happily voting in favor of huge deficits for 6-8 years....only instead of forestalling the Great Depression II, they were forestalling the IslamoFascist Caliphate from overtaking the country.
They lost an unimaginable amount of credibility, it may take 10 years to get it back, if they can even get it back.
Another reason why I really have no hope for the country, because both parties are really the same, they use the same tactics, same lying, same pet projects, etc. the only difference really is the type of police state that we are going to live in. We can live in the GOP police state that is heavy on police and surveillance and lets huge swaths of the working poor muddle through, doesn't any more give a crap about American industries, only parrots back free trade bullshit, OR, we can live in the nanny state, that is light on actual police on the streets and heavy on censorship, feel good and act good mandates where nobody has any freedom to create or excel because the government controls all means of power and production.
The GOP police state is better than the Democratic nanny state..but not by much.

Not to my knowledge. I'd like to know if he did. And in what capacity.
Interesting and saddening to me is the wingnuts listen to the two dropouts, Hannity and Limbaugh, who without question profit immensely, than two of the most highly regarded experts in the world on the middle east and economics.
That, is what has got us where we are today.

In New York I have heard of working parents who turn over custody of their children to the grandparents. The result is that the grandparents get paid by the city for being foster parents. In other words, the city pays the grandparents baby-sitting fees.
Wisconsin has an even better deal. Talk about cashing in!
"• Sisters or other relatives can stay home, swap kids and receive taxpayer dollars. The four Racine sisters took in as much as $540,000 in taxpayer dollars in less than three years, mostly to watch each other's kids.
• Rules allow parents to be employed by child-care providers and enroll their children at the same place. At some centers, children of employees make up the majority of kids in day care. In one Milwaukee location, an employer and parents are accused of teaming up to bilk the system out of more than $360,000.
• Child-care subsidy recipients have been allowed to work for almost any type of business. Payments were made when moms claimed to work ironing a man's shirts, drying fruit and selling artwork they made during art class.
• The government pays for child care while parents sleep. Counties have no way to monitor whether parents are actually sleeping while their kids are in day care."

"1. What did I do? In early 1999 I was asked to serve on a panel that offered Enron executives briefings on economic and political issues. As far as I knew at the time, they genuinely wanted to learn something. I resigned from that board in the fall of 1999, when I accepted an offer to write for the New York Times."
Is this all? You're a lunatic.
