Priceless - so old Andy Sullivan nominates NRO's Lisa Schiffren for a Malkin award based upon a recent item - link is to NRO - for daring to question M. Obama because they are importing their private chef from Chicago to staff the White House. Wait for it ....
Who knew? I believed all that stuff about how Michelle was an overburdened modern working mother, rushing from school dropoff to her high-paying, demanding work at the hospital, to dress fittings, to whatever it was she needed to do to support her husband's political aspirations, back home to take care of her daughters. Call me naive, but that model usually includes making dinner. And squeezing in a weekly grocery shopping trip. Especially for those fresh, whole foods that don't keep so long. Now I have to wonder who did the laundry, and the vaccuuming. Sure, granny helped—but I doubt she was the maid. Who was?
What sayeth Google to M.O. and cooking. I guess it all comes down to what the meanings of "when" and "we" are. LMAO Or was the private chef some kind of social welfare program I haven't read about??
She admits the pressures of a presidential campaign have altered family life at the Obamas' home where she said recently there has been a lot less time for cooking dinner. "When we cook, I cook," she said, but recently, "It's a lot of ordering out, it's a lot of folks bringing food, you know? This year has not been usual."

Well, they are all gonna be busted before to long......

Power restoration going slowly; about 547,000 customers powerless
The number of Kentuckians without electricity continued to flicker during the fourth day of ice storm cleanup as the first signs of thawing brought with it some new outages and high waters on some roads. And in many of the areas left in the cold and dark after Tuesday and Wednesday’s storm, water and fuel remained scarce and food stocks were dwindling, prompting the governor to call for a donation drive this weekend. Meanwhile, at least two deaths can be blamed on the storm. Another seven deaths, including three of carbon monoxide poisoning in Louisville Friday, also were believed to be related to the effects of the winter weather.
So, where’s the liberal outrage? Where is the condemnation of a President who sits on his ass in the white house with his thermostat at 80 degrees while over half a million Americans have no power and no heat?
IF MOST of the people most affected were:
BLACK
WELFARE
DEMOCRATS
The boy communist would have the U.S. Army in there with portable generators, shelters, food, and medicine. I believe the boy communist IS the racist we know he is.
All those clingers to religion and guns are disposable
This is the “winter” version of the Chicago Heat Wave of 1995, where the boy communist allowed over 600 people in the community he represented die from exposure.
CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE
The Libtard CIC is too busy milking the public goose to get his Government spending stimulus bill passed. After all that is what is most important. Spending the money to buy votes for the libtards.

Bipartisan Opposition to Pork-Fest?
Despite all of Barack Obama's talk of bipartisanship, the fact is that in the House of Representatives, it was opposition to Obama's pork extravaganza that was bipartisan. Support for the misbegotten bill came exclusively from Democrats.
It may be that the same thing will happen in the Senate. This morning, John Cornyn expressed optimism that Senate Republicans will unite in opposition to Obama's bill, while Democrat Ben Nelson wondered how many Democrats are actually willing to vote for it:
An influential Senate Democrat said Friday that it's unclear whether President Obama's $819 economic stimulus bill will win enough support to pass in the Senate. ...
Asked how many Republicans he can get to vote for the bill, Nelson said he didn't even know how many Democrats would vote for it.
It sounds as though Nelson and others may be trying to assemble another "Gang of 14" to come up with a better bill. Assuming any alternative is a substantially better bill than the Democrats'--and it would be hard not to be--that could be a good thing.
this "stimulus" will stimulate, principally, Democratic voting blocs, was illustrated best this morning on CNBC. Erin Burnett interviewed Max Baucus, asking at one point (at about 5:30 in) "How, exactly, will this stimulus create actual, identifiable jobs?" In response, Senator Baucus breaks down, desperately recalling the very few slivers of the bill that provide tax incentives to companies, and ignoring the majority that is nothing but federal adiposity.
He eventually stammers that "we're in uncharted waters." I suppose that is the best the Democrats can do when pressured, even lightly, on their scam-stimulus. A rather poor showing.
It is the height of irresponsibility and reflects the inexperience of our new President that he would be pushing such a massive spending bill on such a wide variety of programs without the advice and consent of a Cabinet which has barely moved into their offices and, in the case of Secretary of Commerce, has not yet even been filled. This lends credence to the accusation that, rather than an economic stimulus plan, huge sums will instead be used to pay back interest groups that helped elect congressmen and senators and, yes, Obama. This is not a stimulus package. It is a wish list for the hard-left special interests.
The fatted pig is headed toward the dinner table and all the hogs are sitting and waiting to get there big mouths full of the greasy pork. From the grisseled snout to the two large mountain oysters in the rear, the hogs are eagerly anticipating their free meal. Their knives and forks are at the ready and their slobber is dripping from their chins. Their eyes are focused on the huge greasy platter being set before them. I hope they choke!!!!!
Politics & dynamics of the ‘stimulus’ debate had changed. It’s becoming more obvious daily that the bill will have a major rewrite or it’ll pass with a number of Democratic defections & no GOP support.
It’ll be fun seeing which scenario plays out.

I've always been amazed by the resources (dough) even a young Obama had at his disposal, hoity-toity private prep schooling, Columbia, Harvard, travel about the globe (viz. Hawaii to New York) with no apparent jobs. And recently, a private chef, and, presumably, a nanny for the kids and a maid for the house. Where did all these resources (bread) come from? Perhaps someday this mystery will be solved.

Was thinking how expensive it is to have a nanny and a housekeeper and a cook. Don't you have to pay them well and SS and all other employer taxes, right? Wasn't this what GWB's nominees had a problem with, not paying all those employer taxes? Didn't she work? And, he wrote a lot of books, right? Guess they are using the money they have saved from the book sales.

Btw, we girls were talking about Mrs. O. She was sort of under wraps for a lot of the campaign, ostensibly cause of the kids but also cause a lot of women didn't really care for her. We were trying to figure out why and one of my friends said that "she could make the queen of England feel inferior and not good enough". Wonder if others have that feeling and this comment came from an "uber BO supporter" both in time and talent and money.

"Don't you have to pay them well and SS and all other employer taxes, right?"
No, only the little people have to pay taxes. They have probably saved a lot of money by not paying some taxes too. That makes it easier to save.

There was no hoity-toity private prep schooling and Obama took out student loans for Columbia and Harvard......Obama attended local schools in Jakarta, such as Besuki Public School and St. Francis of Assisi School, until he was ten years old. He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents, Madelyn and Stanley Armour Dunham, while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from high school in 1979.

Mr. Obama personally took out $42,753 in loans for Harvard Law School, on top of several thousand dollars for his undergraduate education at Columbia University. The last of Obama's student loans was paid off in 2004.

As for the no apparent jobs.... Obama graduated with a B.A. from Columbia in 1983. He worked for a year at the Business International Corporation[25][26] and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group.[27][28] After four years in New York City, Obama moved to Chicago, where he was hired as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization originally comprising eight Catholic parishes in Greater Roseland (Roseland, West Pullman and Riverdale) on Chicago's far South Side. He worked there for three years from June 1985 to May 1988. Then after Harvard Law, For twelve years, Obama served as a professor at the University of Chicago Law School teaching Constitutional Law. He was first classified as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996 and then as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004.[41] He also joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a twelve-attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004, with his law license becoming inactive in 2002.

"And recently, a private chef, and, presumably, a nanny for the kids and a maid for the house. Where did all these resources (bread) come from? Perhaps someday this mystery will be solved."
I'll solve it for you right now, Fred. In 2000, the Obama's IRS tax return indicates that the Obamas' combined income was $240,505. The Obamas' best financial year came in 2005, when their total combined income was $1.6 million. That included $1.2 million in author fees for Obama's best-selling books. Michelle Obama's salary that year was $316,962 plus another $45,000 from TreeHouse Foods.

So, you have 2 parents working full-time jobs with busy schedules earning excellent money, who like most people in that situation hire nannies to help with the kids and a maid for the house. Just like most Americans in the top 5-10% earnings percentiles. Does that offend you? If so, why?
Posted by: Todd | Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 05:50 PM
LOL.....the problem is not that they hired a maid, chef, nanny, or whatever, Todd, nor is it with their income.
It's the fact that both of them scream about the awful, hateful, indolent rich and how those people are stealing from the poor, harming our society, and ruining us all.
Now let's review what Barack Obama has done:
1) Scream about how lazy, worthless Americans need to turn down their thermostats to protect the planet -- then hike his up to hothouse levels.
2) Rant about how people who dodge taxes are unpatriotic and how everyone should have to pay more taxes to support society -- and surround himself with people who deliberately cheated on theirs.
3) Shriek about how evil rich people are and how wrong it would be to allow underprivileged children to attend private schools at taxpayer expense -- and then reveal that he makes millions per year, has a private chef, nanny, and maid, and sends his daughters to expensive private academies.
What this makes obvious is that Barack Obama in no way has to follow that which he demands of other Americans.

Caution, I repeat as I did in an earlier post that TODD is really jharp. They are one of the same. Do not be fooled. Did you really think he was going away ? He can't stand it. He is obsessed with Dan's blog.
He is an attack dog for conservative blogs. He belongs to the moveon.org orginization.

C'mon WBPE, you know I'm not jharp. And, I imagine Dan can confirm that cause he can probably see my email address, but who knows. Go on thinking whatever you want. It doesn't really matter anyway.
NDT, who else besides Wall Street fatcats has Obama called out? Show me some other class warfare quotes. I'm interested to see them. In my opinion those Wall Street fatcats deserve to be called out. Trust me, I worked with enough fatcats during my Wall Street career. The idea that these bozos should be getting any bonuses is pretty outrageous, and I'm kinda surprised there isn't much of any outrage amongst the conservative posters on this blog, too. Dan doesn't seem to show any outrage on that subject and I can' remember seeing any of you folks pissed about it. Can someone explain why that is? Do you guys actually think that $18 billion in bonuses should have been paid out for 2008 to Wall St employees? Or, is it just that you guys can't bring yourselves to agree with Barack Obama on any subject?
John Thain, I mean really. That guy has over-the-top amounts of hubris. He almost makes Bernie Madoff likeable by comparison.
