The headline over a Politico story on Obama snubbing the New York Times and some other old media outlets reads: Obama breaks Times tradition. The thing is, while it may have been "traditional" for the Times to get this type of interview, it never was their tradition.
It has never been theirs to control. That prerogative always belonged to the President-elect. It seems old media is struggling with control issues in the new media age. Maybe they should get some counseling for that? Ha!
Berke, who’s now an assistant managing editor, said that these interviews were “sort of a tradition with The Times.” Berke noted this particular change in The Times-President-elect relationship during a public forum on Sunday, held at the New York Times Center.
While the Gray Lady may protest loudest about being snubbed, they’re hardly alone.

Jade is a fascinating gemstone. In Asia, it is collected as an antique, and is worn for good luck and health. It is also given to celebrate important occasions in life such as births and marriages.
Jade jewelry reflects the symbols of love, peace and prosperity. As one of the most beautiful types of jewelry, it's the most sought-after jewel in our global culture. In ancient China, it was treasured as the royal gemstone, or "the Stone of Heaven". Back then; people thought jade jewelry could bring safety, health and peace of mind.
Jade is separated into two types: The ancient jade carved in China or nephrite jade and jadeite jade, which was discovered in the 19th century and can be found today in Canada, Taiwan, China (KunLun Jade) and America. It's also typically found in Burma and Japan. What is its most distinguishing physical property? No question about it, its toughness. In fact, with a Moh's hardness of between 6 and 7, jade jewelry is harder than even steel. Another interesting fact is that the highest quality jadeite jade can be even more expensive than diamonds!
Jade jewelry can be very difficult to carve and polish, but a highly trained craftsman can create a beautiful piece of exquisite jade jewelry. Jade comes in the traditional and most treasured green, but can also be found in lavender, and white. To cut jade jewelry, they form smooth dome shapes or multifaceted beads. Due to this, it's sold by the piece rather than per carat.
Money is the money, the diamond is diamond, but Jade is the things it has a life on it and it can really communicate with your body if you wear it and use it all the time ! Long revered by Asians as the most precious of all stones for centuries, besides being the most beautiful and valued natural material for making jewelry and utensils, jade is considered to possess the power of good luck, good health, and the ability to resist evil spirit and to get rid of bad luck.
