For the most part, in electing Obama the American electorate succeeded in putting color aside and making a decision on the new leader of America based upon what they believed to be best for the country, not what might or might not make them feel the most comfortable at an old school country club, or corner bar. But will our media rise to that challenge in covering him?
This phrasing from an item in which HuffPo calls Michelle Malkin a "whore" for the Right underscores the Left's misguided thinking and how much it diverges from the dream of Martin Luther King.
Now, many of you may be wondering why someone who is of Asian decent(sic) would be so antagonistic toward Obama and his background.
It's predictable, though ironic, that it is the Left that always seems to invoke Michelle's ancestry into any discussion of her, let alone several insults against all women of Asian descent when attacking her.
As far as I can tell, Michelle has always presented herself as an American pundit with conservative views weighing in on events of the day, not a pundit/journalist of any particular decent.
And therein lies the discrepancy between Left and Right on the important issue of Race in America. Decent minded Americans on the Right do not want a society where blacks, browns, reds, or yellows are somehow treated differently. They believe that as we are all human beings, everyone deserves a seat at the table without over-dwelling on the color of their skin, or the physical characteristics they might present because of their parents.
Despite what critics might allege, it is the Right, not the Left, that is most in keeping with MLK's vision for a color blind society, as opposed to one that is blinded by that very thing. The media most of all faces an important moment of truth given the Obama presidency. Juan Williams pointed this out in a solid WSJ item yesterday. I heard Mark Levin discuss it last night on his show.
The American electorate did "the right thing." I wish I had more confidence in our media to do the same in the face of both ideological and race-based concerns when it comes to their coverage of the new administration.
It is neither overweening emotion nor partisanship to see King's moral universe bending toward justice in the act of the first non-white man taking the oath of the presidency. But now that this moment has arrived, there is a question: How shall we judge our new leader?
If his presidency is to represent the full power of the idea that black Americans are just like everyone else -- fully human and fully capable of intellect, courage and patriotism -- then Barack Obama has to be subject to the same rough and tumble of political criticism experienced by his predecessors. To treat the first black president as if he is a fragile flower is certain to hobble him. It is also to waste a tremendous opportunity for improving race relations by doing away with stereotypes and seeing the potential in all Americans.

I judge the Obama Party and Obama himself as nothing more than card-carrying racists of the worst kind.

This is what the Obama Party wants. This is what the Obama Party supports, and this is what the Obama Party has every intention of doing.
The Obama Party wants unskilled labor building the bridges you drive over. The Obama Party wants people selected on the basis of their skin color, rather than their ability and results, fixing up the schools in which your children learn.

Liberals think (I mean feel) that all minorities feel discriminated against so they are puzzled when minorities don't act the way that they, the liberals, expect them to act.

The only group in America that plays the "racism" card are the Dems.
They have used blacks in this country for decades to advance their agenda.
But hey what do I know, after all, I'm just "a typical white person" according to "the One".
Michelle is only referred to in the leftist media as "an asian" or "Asian American" and a "sell out".
Geraldo pissed her off with his "racist" rants and she told O'Rielly to shove his guest hosting gig!
She is a great conservative voice and remains one of the most rational and thoughtful voices on the internet!
Sorry Michelle but Palin has taken over your place as the top conservative cougar!

"The only group in America that plays the "racism" card are the Dems"
Really? Hate groups seem to do a pretty good job of it.
Oh, as for Malkin being a great conservative voice? She's an intellectual lightweight. Watching her debate is a riot, she just can't hang.
