The upside of losing an election as in 2008? There isn't much for the media to focus on but Democrats and we're not even getting started, yet. I suspect Dodd is going to be coming up in stories like this, as well.
Hope, change ... and a side dish of pay to play, please. This is now the second instance linked in one way or another to the incoming administration. I guess Obama's judgment isn't very good. Or he's so acustomed to corruption being from Chicago, it didn't matter when he made the pick. Tsk, tsk ....
WASHINGTON (AP) - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson on Sunday announced that he was withdrawing his nomination to be President-elect Barack Obama's commerce secretary amid a grand jury investigation into how some of his political donors won a lucrative state contract.
Richardson's withdrawal was the first disruption of Obama's Cabinet process and the second "pay-to-play" investigation that has touched Obama's transition to the presidency. The president-elect has remained above the fray in both the case of arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the New Mexico case.

Bill Richardson has always "looked" like a crook to me. I am not suprised.
There is so much corruption in politics in this country it is pathetic.
There are the caught and the uncaught.
Stayed tuned, I am sure there will be many more to come down the road.
Do people care ? I supose if you are not a democrat, but what are you gonna do about it ? Talk ?
That's about all that goes on anymore. A lot of talk.
Sad !

Neither for or against Governor Richardson but disappointed to hear the news.
The good news as far as I can see is Obama still gets to choose his replacement.
And we picked up a true progressive Senator over the weekend.
Congratulations, Senator Al Franken! Great job!

bwahhahahaha!
The democratic party is an absolute joke. Obama can't find an untainted nominee among the pile of corrupt losers to pick from. Blago is a dirtbag, and so is Richardson. Looks like everyone pays to play in the blue states!
And bragging about the election of stuart smalley to the Senate???
WAHAHAHAHA!

"The democratic party is an absolute joke."
Let's see.
White House? Democratic win in a landslide.
Senate? 59-41 in favor of the Democrats.
House? 256-178 in favor of the Democrats.
You are a funny funny man. Yet you are sort of correct in that we have a major party that is a joke.
Only it is the regional party of the deep south, the GOP, that is the joke.

Steve P. (Harpo) writes: "White House? Democratic win in a landslide.
Senate? 59-41 in favor of the Democrats.
House? 256-178 in favor of the Democrats."
And yet for two years they have done nothing, nothing, nothing of any consequence...and that is the good news. The new Pres. with the help of the new Congress looks to me to be planning a continuation of the Bush presidency as far as foreign and military policy are concerned. More good news for me, bad news for the koskids and muffie-posters.
But I can see some of the great Dem achievements taking shape now: Taking the secret ballot away from our workers; throwing our tax money at their favorite contributors in the guise of solving our economic woes; writing more laws that favor ambulance chasers; making our tax system ever more complex; censoring the speech of the loyal opposition. But one-payer medical care? I don't think so.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Sunday, January 04, 2009 at 07:01 PM
keep looking in the mirror and repeating senator smalley's self affirmation, harpie...
'cause I'm good enough, and people like me!'
...maybe it will get you through your day as the dems continue to embarrass themselves in front of the world (remember how the world was going to REPSECT us more once the dems were in power? Hahaha!). At the same time, the only competent people obama can find are the holdovers from the corrupt clintons and dreaded bush admin!
Just remember, jharp...we are laughing at you, not with you.

"But one-payer medical care? I don't think so."
Damn Fred. I gotta credit where credit is due. Congratulations to you for finally recognizing that no one wants or is proposing socialized medicine.
And you are right. To my disappointment and to the detriment of our economic competitiveness the single payer ain't happening either. Not yet anyways. It is an issue that I don't believe Obama goes far enough on.
I still believe he will get us on the right path and since it is such a big change I am willing to see it done incrementally.
And who in the hell is Steve P?

Will we be saying goodbye to Hillary too?

The New York Times
WASHINGTON — An upstate New York developer donated $100,000 to former President Clinton's foundation in November 2004, about the same time Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure millions of dollars in federal assistance for the businessman's mall project.
Sen. Clinton helped enact legislation allowing the developer, Robert Congel, to use tax-exempt bonds to help finance the construction of the Destiny USA entertainment and shopping complex, an expansion of the Carousel Center in Syracuse, N.Y.
She also helped secure an earmark in a highway bill that set aside $5 million for Destiny USA roadway construction.
The bill with the tax-free bonds provision became law in October 2004, weeks before the donation was made, and the highway bill with the earmark became law in August 2005, about nine months after the donation was made.

HAHAHAHAHA...Thanks, LaLa...the hits just keep coming!
As these Dems come out of the weeds we see they are all covered with shit!
Hilarious to see the holier-than-thou liberals exposed for the self-serving assholes they are.
Clowns everywhere.

What is the surprise? We knew the Clintons were crooks when Hillary made a killing on the futures market, and they sneaked furnishings from the White House.

I had a very nice holiday and a great last two months but this is just the topper of all toppers.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (CNN) – A state election board on Monday will announce Democrat Al Franken as the winner of the Minnesota Senate race, defeating Republican incumbant Norm Coleman, state officials told CNN Sunday.
A healthy and prosperous 2009 to all. The nightmare of republican reign gets further buried.
Senator Al Franken. Wow. Makes my day.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Al Franken is a loony failed comedian and will be a loony corrupt senator as well. If he is declared the winner it is not because he won it fair and square it is because he stole it just like all democrats do. All democrats are corrupt scumabags. He was born a failure and willl always be a failure.
The nighmare of a Democratic congress and house and President continues on.
Crooks liars and theives. I keeps getting worse as time goes on.

Steve J. Harpo has a great sense of humor, so I'm sure Harpo will appreciate this. Radical Muffingtonpost liberal Obama says conservatives are right. America needs a $300 billion tax cut.

Minnesota Dems make Steve J. Harpo's day:
"Senator Al Franken. Wow. Makes my day."
But it seems not everyone is satisfied by the electoral maelstrom of malfeasance in Minnesota:
"But it appears some officials may have failed to mark ballots as duplicates, which are now being counted in addition to the originals. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes."

Harpo, do favor double counting?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 10:51 AM
Of course. Just like jharp favors systematic tax fraud and lying.

"Harpo, do favor double counting?"
"Of course. Just like jharp favors systematic tax fraud and lying."
Nope. Don't favor any of three. And none of the three had anything to do with Franken's win.
Coleman was a loyal Bushie and got tossed out, albeit narrowly, with the rest of the republicans.
Quit yer whining. Franken won. Your guy very deservedly lost.
Count em. That's 59 Democratic Senators. And a 75 seat Democratic margin in the House. And a landslide win for the White House.

My sides are aching this morning as the democrats send in the clowns...
Richardson, Clinton, Rangel, Dodd, Blago, Reid, Franken...
What a procession! The world has truly gained respect for us since this group took over!
Meanwhile, bozo biden remains in an undisclosed location with a gaffe-monitor affixed to his jaw...
And as our faithful posters here point out to the deluded left, Obama continues to adopt the republican issues that he ranted against in the elections...continued occupation in Iraq, with a withdrawal timetable dictated by "conditions on the ground", no single payer healthcare and tax cuts rather than tax increases.
We tried to warn you that barry was a typical pandering liberal hypocrite, but you wouldn't listen. Now he is moving to the center right with the rest of America and leaving harpo marxist and the lame-one crying in their milk.
Oh, wait...they can brag about stuart smalley stealing a senate seat! You go girls!
Hahahahaha!

"My sides are aching this morning as the democrats send in the clowns."
And I'm on cloud nine as the Republicans are being sent home. Where they belong.
"no single payer healthcare"
What is it about wingnuts that they can't grasp what the health care debate is even about? Obama, nor any other candidate, ever proposed a single payer.
And a hint for you ET. Go educate yourself. Read. Think. Then read some more. I honestly don't think you are as stupid as your posts, it's just laziness.

"Keep laughing Jharpo"
I will. I am having a great time. Not an ass licker though. I found the Bush ass lickers utterly repulsive and swore I'd never do it.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 12:51 PM
You don't seem to grasp what the healthcare debate is about, Steve J. It is about every taxpayer paying for the healtcare of others, many of whom not only don't pay any taxes at all but receive "refunds" that aren't even refunds but welfare payments. Tell us, please, why we should want a system that makes patients wait for certain surgeries and diagnostic procedures for as longs as months and that drives many Canadians to come to the U.S. for care.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 12:53 PM
"Not an ass licker though."
Don't be so modest, Harpo, you impudent and rude jabbbernowl. You are tremendous at it.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 12:57 PM
The irony of you GOPers whining about "corruption" is delicious. Next you'll start demanding Obama respect the separation of powers and constitutional limitations on the president's powers. Hahahaha.
Posted by: SpaceCat | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 01:06 PM
Yes, Harpo an ass licker and a good one from what I see here. Why don't u gather u and your roids the rats and keep on with your hurting loins to the HP.
Posted by: nina | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 01:06 PM
Hey cat u too can put some prepatation H on your head and go to the HP
Posted by: nina | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 01:08 PM
Fred,
"Tell us, please, why we should want a (health care)system" like ours is today, that costs 2 to 3 times what the rest of world spends, for the same level and quality of care.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 01:44 PM
The rest of the world, Harpo? Do you mean the rest combined or individually? As for "quality", do you count short waits for important procedures as good quality and long waits as bad quality, or not count that at all? Just what do your sources mean by "quality"? And "level", what is meant by "level"? Does that mean the latest drugs and equipment available for treating everyone?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 02:47 PM
Leon Panetta as CIA director. Who won this election anyway?
Posted by: Lala | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 03:12 PM
"Do you mean the rest combined or individually?"
An idiotic question even for you. Are you that empty headed that you could possible believe we spend 2 to 3 times what the rest of the world "combined" spends.
Good grief, Fred. That takes the cake for the most breathtakingly stupid question I have ever seen posed.
Posted by: jharp | Monday, January 05, 2009 at 03:20 PM
Out of all the professions is the world today, there is more corruption, liars, thieves, and trashy scumbags in the political profession than any other profession on earth.
No wonder the world is so screwed up. It is all about power and money. Our money.
What a shame and no ones does anything about it but talk.
When will peoples of the world ban together and demand that it stop ?
Solution in America would be term limits for the senate and the house. I hope one day to see this happen in this country.
The way it is today, you have to know someone in high places or have money to gain political power. This needs to stop, too. Everyday common people could do a much better job of running this country.
Wishing and hoping this will happen down the road doesn't hurt. :O)
_____________
WOW, What a lunatic we have that comes here. I would have fun playing whack a mole with Jharps head. LoL
BTW...Harp....tell Obama mama to hurry up and send me my stimulas check. LMAO

Steve J. Harpo, you conveniently forgot the "quality" and "level" questions. Is that simply because you have no answers?
