$800 bill will by a lot of carbon credits. At The Corner are 10 good questions concerning the "stimulus" package. Number one:

"1) President-elect Obama claims that spending approximately $800 billion will create 3.675 million new jobs. That comes to $217,000 per job. This doesn't sound like a very good value, especially with the national average salary around $40,000. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just mail each of these workers a $40,000 check?"

Perhaps this can't be done because the 3.625 million workers have not yet snuck into the country.

Boys and girls, if you have any sense or extra money, you had better be aggressively buying gold and silver. Or buying land in a rural part of a red state. Before it's too late.

Add to the list: storable (dried) food, water purification filters/devices/tablets, first aid kits, and plenty of ammo for man-stopper weapons, a good 12-ga. for the short range, and a decent magazine-fed rifle for longer ranges (30.06 and .308 remain my fave choices -- double as a hunting weapon too)

And I'm leaning heavily toward investing in overseas markets, particularly Asia, as they can only go up in value relative to the US Dollar.

Red China and Japan, and to a lesser degree, India going to be in the catbird seat as America self-destructs.

I am very pessimistic about this nation surviving intact as a Republic over the next several years
