Update: There's an update to this post here.
It seems someone has stumbled upon recent proof of Andrew Sullivan's conservative bona fides, though some might just call it being cheap in this case.
If you search Andrew Sullivan's URL, there appear to be about 27 posts in which Andrew Sullivan implored his readers to donate to the Proposition 8 initiative in California.
Here's one example from October 23. Perhaps Andy has a different definition for the word "us?"
Pretty much unchanged since the last poll but with a small uptick in the numbers against marriage equality. We have our work cut out for us. You can donate here.
A link as far back as September "renders" this:
You can donate to the effort to prevent countless married gay couples in California from having their marriages rendered void here.
Such passion. Such compassion. Such a voice. But is that all there is? On October 22, Andrew let out a call for his readers to raise their anti-Christian-ist arms ... after again dipping into their pockets ... to offset his arch-nemesis, this time embodied in the Mormon herd!
... watching one religious group swamp an initiative to remove civil rights from a minority is troubling to me. It appears to be based on religious doctrine, not secular argument. If you want to counter the influence of the Mormon church in California's democratic process, donate here.
So, with all those pleadings, did Andrew Sullivan ever bother to click his own "Donate here" link ... even once? Alas, it seems not, unless he's the one Andrew Sullivan which donated to "No," which I doubt. (Ed. Note: I didn't search for any Internet alias Andrew is known to have used.)
I was checking the SF Chronicle's search engine for donations to either side in the battle over Prop 8 and your name didn't turn up. Your husband, Aaron Tone, also appears to have not donated to the campaign to defeat Prop 8. Did you really not contribute to No on 8? You sure beat the bushes for No on 8 contributions, with an almost daily link to the campaign's donation page. I wonder why you'd ask and ask and ask readers to donate, but not write out a check yourself. What gives?
Far be it from me to explain "what gives" when it comes to Andrew's "lightness" in this case, but I think I have managed to figure out what gives not! That would be Andrew Sullivan.
A full donors search available here. h/t Instapundit. "Mouth but no money"? To be fair to Andrew, he probably has dumped a bundle on Winter clothing this year. One simply cannot trundle off to Alaska to search for evidence of an illegitimate birth that never happened wearing last Winter's duds. Unless of course Andrew never got off his arse to get at the real heart of the matter regarding Sarah Palin's child Trig, either.
No, it seems all one can expect from Andrew is talk. Maybe he should run for President, or dig around for a Senate appointment next?

Hey, harpie...meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
"In a New York Times Magazine profile of Robert Gibbs, the incoming White House press secretary, Mark Leibovich reveals that the Obama campaign emulated the "Bush model" of tight information control. Campaign manager David Plouffe acknowledged that they "talked a lot about the Bush model" inside the campaign and, like the Bush White House, sought to limit the spread of information internally so as to avoid the leaking that badly damaged the campaigns of Obama's rivals."

The honeymoon is (almost) over.
