kicks the butt of someone from the "Big Leagues"

If NRO is the big leagues conservatism is even more doomed than I thought.

"Move Away from the Keyboard Dan [Jonah Goldberg]
And walk around the block a few times, because this reads like you've been breathing into a paper bag too much and can't decide whether you want to pick a fight or grow up and make nice. ..."

'Grow up'? If Jonah has to redirect the link [this reads] away from criticism of him, it sounds like he's the one who needs to grow up.

"Yeah, that's precisely what, I assume, Jonah did."

Yeah, and I assume you're just continuing to be an asshole and to attribute cowardice to what might very well be just a simple mistake or carelessness.

What an unbelievable prick.

Boring. NR is a great resource and I enjoy your site. Listening to pundits sit around talking about who's the true conservative reminds me of the purges the old Communists used to have in the Soviet Union.

"a simple mistake"

Yeah, sure. People go in and modify their links all the time. Now run along to the corner and grab some more kool aid, sycophant.

"who's the true conservative"

TC - for the record, I am not questioning anyone's "conservatism." A detached, elitist attitude doesn't mean one isn't conservative.

What evidence do you have that it was modified? How do you know that it wasn't wrong in the first place? Because it brought people to the correct post for a little while? As long as it was at the top, perhaps? Do you honestly believe Jonah doesn't want people to see the stupid post of yours he was referring to. Give me a break.

You started this pissy little dustup. And it may have made your little acolytes squeal with glee but anyone with an actual sense of humor saw Jonah's post for what it was, and you for the humorless tool you were being.

You want to run your blog like a three-year-old, fine by me. But I'll call you on it whenever I damn well feel like it, or until you take the coward's way out and ban me. To your credit I don't think you'll do that. But I do suggest you double-check your cornflakes in the morning because someone sure pissed in them this weekend.

"How do you know that it wasn't wrong in the first place?"

Uh, a blogger, or anyone for that matter, can tell what has been linked. The hits accumulate to s specific post. Jonah initially linked a post of mine responding to a post of his. When you clicked his link, that's where it went. See? SImple, really. Today the link was changed to a generic link so people reading his criticism of me wouldn't see mine of him as he originally linked it. Maybe some of the comments were too much for him. Real class act, that.

"until you take the coward's way out and ban me.

Sounds like you are confusing me with someone who censors criticism like Jonah. ; )

Hmm. Interestingly precise choices of words here.

"Jonah initially linked a post of mine responding to a post of his."

Yes, he did. And indeed, he still is: his first response to you still provides a proper permalink. It is only his *second* post of his that includes a more general link.

So let's be explicit. Do you have any evidence he ever actually linked to your "conservative welfare state" post?

Now, let's say you do. You're still a childish twit for imputing motive here. I mean, it seems clear enough to me he doesn't mind his readers seeing the negative things you or your commenters have written about him; that second post of yours is far from the worst of it; indeed, he's still linking to the worst of it. And it's hardly difficult for people to find the stuff you've written about him even if they get sent to the top of your blog. So the suggestion that he's some sort of coward just doesn't make sense.

There's one way to find out his reasons: ask him! But that really wouldn't be as fun, would it? It might also actually take courage.

Um, lol you just keep digging Jonah a hole - I emailed Jonah after the firt exchange and said I'd rather debate ideas, as opposed to personal attacks, even offered him praise on some of his work while ignoring a juvenile rant he sent to me which stated it wasn't for publication when he sent it.

He never responded.

If I wanted to coninue playing with children here, I'd still be going after Jonah. Now, please ... run along, or just drop it. Your call. Ask him whateber you want yourself, though no way of knowing if he'll tell the truth of what I just said. But that is the truth.

buh bye

I still absolutely do not see the point of any of this.

I don't disagree at this point, Jana. Unfortunately.

The first time I clicked through, it linked to your blog generally. But hey, I'm just a sycophant.

This site looked cool until the author became insane.

I'm not surprised he didn't respond. Why should he? I assume (there's that word again) find no fault whatsoever in your attacks on him. And then you have the gall to say you'd rather "debate ideas?" Bullshit.

I notice you didn't produce any evidence that the link wasn't "changed" retroactively. Therefore, I'm going to assume (there's that word again) that you didn't actually have any evidence to the effect.

Since this post is still here, I'll just point out that the generic link over at The Corner has been replaced with a proper permalink to the post in question.

I'll update with that info mcg.
