LMAO Well, this is sure to explode some heads in the blogosphere. Frankly, it should. How about this - when is the leader of an Islamic state going to go somewhere and make an earth shattering speech on the need for Muslims to accept Israel as a state and denounce Islamic extremism enmass?

So where should he do it? The list of Islamic world capitals is long, and includes the obvious —Riyadh, Kuwait City, Islamabad — and the not-so-obvious — Male (the Maldives), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Some wise-guys have even suggested Dearborn, Mich., as a possibility.

Clearly it would be cheating for Mr. Obama to fly to Detroit, talk to Dearborn’s 30,000 Arab residents and call it a day. And Male and Ouagadougou, while certainly majority Muslim, can’t really be what Mr. Obama’s aides have in mind when they talk about locales for a high-profile speech that would seek to mend rifts between the United States and the broader Muslim world.

At this rate, the guy's going to end up making Jimmah Carter look like a Hawk when it comes to radicals. Oh wait, no doubt he'll also tell them to behave or he will slap their wrists ... if the UN says he can.

Sure, he's going to lecture them and work to come off as all strong and all. He isn't dumb. Meanwhile, the mullahs will be laughing their asses off at the latest liberal American loon to come along.

Between this and his liberal bail-out policies, I can already sense the approval numbers starting to tank.

There is nothing wrong with Obama going to a muslim country to make a symbolic point, the idea that the U.S. can't talk to its "enemies" let alone talk to neutral parties or allies because it's a sign of weakness is absurd.

Letting Pakistan run all over us and take our money and Al Quada's money at the same time, that's a sign of weakness.

Being too stubborn and parochial to use back channel diplomatic avenues that have existed for centuries among countries is a sign of pure stupidity.

There is nothing that Obama can do or say that is going to make Arab countries desire anything other than the destruction of Israel. The only thing that might possibly mitigate their desire for Israel's destruction is a viable Palestinian state, but it's doubtful that would work.

However, the U.S. and Israel are two different countries, with two different sets of problems and interests.

If the conservatives fall back into the same pattern of screaming and getting hysterical at everything that Obama does, then you won't get anywhere. People are tired of the Bush way of doing things. Pick your battles. This isn't one of them.

First off, why would you assume that 'muslim terrorists' would want to kill Obama in the first place? His father was muslim, I would assume that most muslims think that Obama represents a huge chance to improve relations and to see a halt to whipping up Americans into anti mulsim frenzies. He might be more at risk inside Israel.

Secondly, since when has an American president been to scared to go to a foreign country and given a speech, or why should he be? Surely our Secret Service is capable of protecting the president. I would think being afraid to leave the White House would be a sign of weakness, not vice a versa.

Bush's policies in the middle east have brought nothing but failure. The idea that we have "won" anything in Iraq is a total delusion...the country isn't even yet back to where it was before we invaded it and there is no guarantee it will be able to function without 120,000 troops and tens of thousand more support staff.

I have no problem with him speaking(unless-he demonstrates his ability to perform the muslim call to prayer) in a muslim country. He should take advantage of his 'prominence' in foreign countries. 99% of the citizens in any of the muslim countries are 'relatively' mild-mannered and are adequate 'citizens of the world'. It's the 1% that scares the crap out of me.

the logistics of providing security for a large scale pre-planned event would have to entail screening the very people who are supposed to be protecting the President. Even should Obama opt for a closed venue, he will be transported from location to location, relying upon the 'secrecy' of his travel route and the 'security' that the indigenous forces will provide.

considering that the fear of a 9/11 style attack, complete with a jetliner acting as a bomb, will have to be a consideration, the advance team will convene with the surrounding airports, further providing more potential leaks.

You know Lame-O it's a free country and one of the things that sets Dan apart from some other sites is the "free wheeling" "let er rip" posting rules.
