Buried down in a Politico item linked via Instapundit we find this:
With the exception of immigration reform, the House fight over the $700 billion Wall Street bailout package and last week’s meltdown over a bailout for the Big Three automakers, Bush got what he wanted from Congress, especially within his own party.
Bush's chief defeats Politico cites all came at the hands of conservative Republicans. According to the Left and the Democrats in Congress we just experienced eight years of the dumbest, most incompetent, potentially evil and destructive American Presidency of all time ... and they spent eight years giving him pretty much precisely what he wanted.
Explain that one if you can, because I sure can't. Perhaps you need to be able to think with the lack of logic found in most contemporary liberals to do it?

Politico and you both forgot that Bush got nowhere on his plan to privatize Social Security, and it was the Democrats who defeated it. Imagine what a debacle that would have become had the U.S. Government borrowed $2-3 trillion to privatize S.S. with the stock market doing what it's done.
