Breaking News On Obama Speech
Along with the trial balloon that Barack Obama may give a speech in an Islamic capitol during his first 100 days in office, after learning that some people insist this discovery on Mars is actually a wooden plank, Obama has asked his advisers to seek out an off-world capitol for a similar speech.
Aides defended the plan, claiming there was nothing wrong with at least trying to find someone somewhere in the universe who hasn't heard precisely what they wanted to hear from Obama - or perhaps have not heard him give a speech at all.
NASA scientists promptly termed such discoveries unlikely, at best.

he is planning major speech in Cairo, sharing the stage with Hosni Mubarak?
this is like a bad nightmare.
The one thing going for Hosni is that he has prior experience fleeing the stage after a massive (and successful) asassination, in the same city.
Even 'funnier' is that Ayman al-Zawahiri is from Egypt, where,
"In 1998 al-Zawahiri formally merged Egyptian Islamic Jihad into al-Qaeda."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zawahiri
any involvement in the Sadat asassination?
"In October 6, 1981 it carried out the assassination of the egyptian president Anwar Sadat."

I've seen lion tamers put their heads in the mouth of lions, but I never thought I'd see one fit his body into their mouth. Obama would be safer in Iraq.

I don't believe at all that Obama is a centrist, here's Melanie Phillips take in part - read the whole thing at the link -
The key is the stupidity of so many of Obama’s opponents, amplified by the credulousness and prejudices of the media and the ignorance of the public. The shallow Republicans and their supporters in the media and blogosphere have in large measure fallen for Obama’s stealth politics hook, line and sinker. As a result of his ‘centrist’ appointments which have got them absurdly cooing over people like Clinton and Holder, Gates and Jones (see my posts here, here and here), their guard is now totally lowered. They still don’t know the true nature of what has hit them -- and at this rate will never know until they wake up one morning to a transformed America and a free world that has lost the war being fought against it.
And the more the left shrieks ‘betrayal’, the more American conservatives will wrap themselves in denial. But characters like Rudd and Jones are the horse’s mouth. They know from the inside the manipulative and stealthy game that is being played here. Lenin would be impressed indeed.

I just read it, lala-
the premise is completely dependent upon obama being intelligent and having a plan.
I don't see it.

I don't see intelligence oozing out of him either. He could just be the puppet. Phillips has another article http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/3039656/carpe-diem-or-can-we-all-relax-now.thtml

If he's a puppet, he's going to look stupid if he has more than handler.
Ambitious or playing it safe?
on foreign policy he has gone with clinton and gates.
on the economy, geitner is just a cardboard cutout of paulson.
the larry summers pick alone was a head scratcher, but when you look at the other names with strong ties to summers, it would appear that all subsequent economic posts were actually filled by summers.
Peter R. Orszag worked under him, christina romer interviewed at Harvard, (and the shadow of volcker) doesn't inspire the fear that we face massive tax hikes.
The eric holder choice is the funniest. I'm sure he'll be confirmed, but he is damaged goods from the get go...
Obama went with a choice out of trust, not agenda. Holder doesn't have much clout, and he doesn't strike me as being able to wage any major legal battles. If he is the guy that the far left believes is going to carry their water in investigating bush, they have another thing coming.
While I detest soros, his perception of economic matters is pretty solid. I shorted oil in may, upon hearing that he had done so... he was incredibly accurate. The pleasure in watching speculators who were driving oil(hedge funds) fall down and cashing in on it is a sweet feeling. If obama does draw upon soros for ideas but keeps them to fiscal matters, it isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Overall, his team isn't designed for agendas so much as it is designed for insulation. It looks like a cocoon of centrism.

Don Surber says there is only one place for Obama to go. Baghdad.
"Let him go to Baghdad and tell the Iraqis that he supported keeping Saddam Hussein in power...
In fact, he should take Pinch Sulzberger with him and let the scion of the NYT explain to the Iraqis how he did not care if they killed one another — or if there was genocide — so long as we abandoned Iraq like we abandoned Vietnam."

This ought to be interesting.
The less time he spends here, the less he will have opportunity to directly muck things up?
ANd it is even more interesting how the principle of synthesis-antithesis has plaid out:
We elect the most far-left disciple of Saul Alinsky to be POTUS, and he tries to settle the nerves of the centre-right by appointing centre-leftist (presumably much more moderate than Obama painted himself to be to the Kos-Krowd) party hacks - ostensibly aggravating the Kossacks, but full well knowing that if he plays it safe and toward the centre for the first two years, rides out any blowback remaining from the previous administration...
... he and his Democratic handlers will be able to push through their vision of Great Society Mark II with much less resistance once he has earned the Public's trust that he isn't some wild-eyed Communist.
Oh well. We are going to get our just deserts with this incoming administration.

Don Surber and Melanie Phillips. Explains so much.

Unless I'm much mistaken, the teleprompters in the various Islamic capitols tend to run right-to-left, which ought to provide amusement for all.

Totally: "Don Surber and Melanie Phillips. Explains so much."
See now Harpo, this is a refutation based on philosophical principles, logic and science. Totally puts us all to shame.

"Master Baiter!"
Yep, him and the llama boy! LOL.

"-- Yep, him and the llama boy! LOL. --"
Attaboy! Masturbation jokes! That's how you win arguments.
This is my first comment in the thread, btw. The least you could do is comment to my face rather than running around back alleys and peeing in corners like a scared puppy.

Also, for those actually interested, Obama will be visiting Indonesia. I know, I know. Visiting a nation where he spent part of his childhood is exactly the same as making kissy faces with Osama bin Laden. But we've got a hardened Al Qaeda sleeper agent as President, so what do you want, eh?
