These Losers Need To Grow Up
Evidently some of the hacks associated with one of the worst political campaigns in modern history seem to want to end it by taking their shots at Sarah Palin.
As RedState suggests and many suspect, this effort has more to do with damaging Palin lest she attempt to make a run in 2012.
Some McCain advisers who may have worked with other candidates in the past and might also want to work with them, or others in the future, had better come to understand when to grow-up and sit down.
They aren't doing themselves or any potential future employers much good among the base.
And in a new media age, with many of us now in DC, not only we will find out - but there will be Hell to pay for someone and everyone will know who to charge in the end.
To steal a phrase from the Left - move on.

During the campaign it was suggested some of these smears were originating from Romney campaign folk working for the McCain campaign; that would seem to make sense and Romney's former campaign guy used to appear on CNN during the pre-election coverage and was never very effective on McCain / Palin behalf. This could be more jockeying for position than long knives.

That's my take, Steven. No one ever blames a Veep pick for a loss, it doesn't make sense. Everyone watching knows McCain lost this thing for himself. His campaign reflected his personality - erratic, prone to impulsivity and sometimes almost out of control with no real theme.
Like people really want to vote for a "maverick" when the economy is melting down because of perceived "maverick-like" behavior on Wall Street and at Fannie mae and Freddie Mac.
The whole thing was one big disaster after another. The only thing they did right was pick Palin. And even that was an impulsive shot in the dark.

Palin helped McCain rally the GOP base, but it wasn't enough.
Among the real reasons why McCain lost is that his campaign didn't seem to have much focus, whereas Obama was consistent, professional, and methodical in his message and his reach to voters everywhere. He also had enormous personal charisma, which the McCain campaign could not match. Obama knew how to handle the media and criticism to his own advantage. As we can all see now, these factors win elections even if you have no real experience, your ideas are flawed, you have dubious associates, and you make bombastic assertions about your own background and abilities.
I am happy that I voted McCain-Palin, and I wish their campaign would have taken the hints from Obama's successes in the polls before it was too late.

But in all fairness to the McCain campaign, it was nowhere near as badly executed as Bob Dole's embarassment in 1996, and had real substance of issues.
Posted by: Mark Turner | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 04:55 AM
McCain ran a fine campaign with Sarah. He lacked money, he didn't reach the young crowd, his message was all over the place.
Sarah on the other hand did great with the crowds, her message was always on topic.
The media destroyed her and will try to continue to. People believed in the repeated gossip, rumors and edited clips of her interviews.
Our job for now on...discredit the Media at every turn.

Next time we need a real conservative like Gingrich or Armey to run. A campaign should mean something. Obama and McCain's positions were hard to tell apart. That reminds me where is that non-conservative rodent docweasel? He was deliriously happy when McCain became the candidate because McCain was not a conservative and, therefore, could win, according to him.

I would NOT have bothered voting had it not been for Sarah Palin. I was not thrilled with McCain from the start..
Posted by: Dennis D | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 08:50 AM
Part of how McCain lost this campaign was by picking Palin in the first place, he lost all hope of picking up the middle.
I think the stories coming out are hillarious. I mean if she really didn't know which countries belonged to NAFTA isn't that a problem? If she really did have low level staffers put clothes on thier personal credit cards isn't THAT a problem?

NEWS FLASH---NEWS FLASH
Spart, the election is over. Your side won. You're not going to keep on about Palin over and over are you?
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 09:55 AM
If this election were about vice presidents, Obama would have lost because of Joe the Gaff King.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 09:58 AM
The thought of those Arctic Hillbillies running looting Neiman Marcus on the RNC's dime is hilarious. I wonder what will happen to Todd's suits - he sure won't be wearing them. Look for Hickey Freeman being shipped from Alaska on ebay.
So Sarah, how many countries make up Antarctica? Hahahaha!!!
Posted by: chris | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Your side is the one going on and on about her. I think it will be a hoot in 4 years when she tries to make a run. Watching Romney school her hardcore in their first debate will be epic.
And you can call Joe the "gaff" king, but he's 100x the candidate Palin could ever dream of being. Give her a different arrangement of chromosomes and she's get about as much attention as Sam Brownbck or Duncan Hunter.

Obama proved the U.S. is not ready for a female president, Moe. Hillery can't believe she lost the Presidency to a platform of hope and change.

Sorry, Moe, I was talking to Spart. I aways get you confused. Lawyers and teachers both talk for a living.

I think it's in America's best interest to have the GOP return to sanity.
Thus I strongly advise pitching Palin at once. Seriously, I didn't want a President Romney but Romney makes Palin look like a big steaming pile of dogshit.
I cannot see how anyone could prefer Palin over Romney. Is it the Mormon thing?
Posted by: jharp | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 11:32 AM
We proved we weren't ready for Hillary, this I'd bet she would have beaten McCain too.
If McCain had truly been interested in putting forth a female candidate he could easily have found a more qualified one than Palin. He wasn't though. It was about appealing to the base and putting a sexy face on the campaign. How was he going to lose the base?

"...a big steaming pile of dogshit."
And look who stepped in it. Trash mouth.

Oh c'mon. Sarah Palin was so clearly unqualified for being a 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency. The McCain campaign shielded her from the media because they knew she didn't have the experience and was out of her depth on the issues.
Sarah Palin was chosen by John McCain to double pander simulataneously to the disaffected Hillary women supporters and to the evangelical wingnuts. I can name 5 other Republican women who were eminently more qualified on experience than Sarah Palin, but they didn't pass the sniff test to pander to the evangelicals.
Condoleeza Rice
Kaye Bailey Hutchison
Christie Todd Whitman
Susan Collins
Olympia Snowe
Sarah Palin needs a whole lot more seasoning to ever be considered a serious person for VP or President. And, I think she's an intellectual lightweight who shouldn't be anywhere near either office, regardless of experience. Those pathetic answers in the Katie Couric interviews speak for themselves.

"I mean if she really didn't know which countries belonged to NAFTA isn't that a problem? If she really did have low level staffers put clothes on thier personal credit cards isn't THAT a problem?"
Of course, what's funny is watching this:
Obama not knowing which committees he serves on in the Senate
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/07/23/obama-incorrectly-claims-membership-of-senate-committee/
Obama claiming that ten thousand people had been killed by a tornado hitting a town of less than two thousand people total
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18564159/
Obama accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal donations and deliberately disabling even the most basic of safeguards on his contribution site, allowing people to use stolen credit card numbers and prepaid cards to donate
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/the-obama-campaigns-credit-card-crack-up/
Now, just say that these aren't a problem because Obama is black, and the whole point will be made.

Spartan112,
She got 10x more attention than 3 letter JOBS Joe. His "rallies" were in the hundreds, barely, hers in the thousands, consistently. Biden makes Bush seem like a rocket scientist more than John DDDD Kerry did. You remember him right, the guy who had a lower GPA at the same school as Bush and who performed significantly worse on the military entrance exam? You clowns buy in to the caricature the media creates because you're mindless sheep. Defending Biden? Hilarious! Hey, go to 7/11 and say hello to his Indian friends while you walk around with guys in wheelchairs. Who could expect an Obama supporter to get it? 8 yrs after mocking “bushisms” they elect a guy who thinks there’s 57 states in this country.

Todd, Palin was more accessible to the media than Obama and Biden combined, even CNN reported on this simple fact that you ostrich folks are oblivious to. Unlike Obama, Palin has actually been an executive, and she's accomplished something other than winning campaigns and making speeches.
Regarding economic issues, note that Alaska is the only state not facing a recession.
But why would facts matter to you, you're a Dumbocrat. Bleat away sheep!

Spartan,
No wonder you like Sarah Palin. You seem to have a similar intellect.
Alaska is a socialist state. Every year, each man, woman and child gets a nice, fat check as their share of the money made by oil companies there. Why do you think the hockey mom is so popular? She increased the payments! Alaska is an anomaly in every way.
BTW, you need only Google a little to see this brilliant executive left Wasilla with a $22 million deficit. I know facts have a liberal bias and all, but dude, do a little research before you reveal yourself as so unknowledgeable about such easily found facts.
By all means support Ms. Palin. The more the country saw of her, the less they liked her. But hey! She got some very nice clothes out of the deal. So did Todd and the kids. You betcha!

"BTW, you need only Google a little to see this brilliant executive left Wasilla with a $22 million deficit."
If, of course, you count a voter-approved bond issuance, paid for by a voter-approved half-cent increase in the sales tax, as a "deficit".

http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/background/story/168047.html
Perhaps if you HAD actually Googled instead of merely repeating Obama talking points, you would know that.
Now, will everyone here state that any issuance of bonds by Barack Obama will qualify as a "deficit" and prove that he is a poor executive?

"Alaska is a socialist state. Every year, each man, woman and child gets a nice, fat check as their share of the money made by oil companies there"
This is incorrect, Alaska has in its State Constitution this thing called Severance Tax on those resources ie oil, gas, minerals which are exacted from the State of Alaska.
Gov Palin simply did the same thing when she give same-sex couples working in government the same benefits as married couple recieved, that being, she followed Alaska's State Constitution.
One would think Democrats would be happy Gov Palin governed by the Alaska's State Constitution rather than governing by her personal beliefs.

"Todd, Palin was more accessible to the media than Obama and Biden combined, even CNN reported on this simple fact that you ostrich folks are oblivious to."
Link me to the quote where CNN reported on that alleged fact please, Todd Spartan. I'd be most interested to see that. Barack Obama did tons of interviews over the past 2 years while on the campaign trail and Joe Biden has done tons of interviews over the course of his career, including the past year, and the questions were always very probing for both. If CNN is only using the 2 month window post-conventions when Palin was on the ticket, it's misleading. Sarah Palin only did a handful of interviews with the 3 major news anchors, including the embarrassing Katie Couric interviews and the poor performance with Charlie Gibson. The interview she did with Sean Hannity counts for nothing, since all the questions were softball questions. She took very few impromptu questions from reporters while on the campaign trail, being hustled away from those opportunities by handlers.
Please post links to all of the interviews that Sarah Palin did. I'm sure there must be many posted on youtube.com other than the interviews with Gibson,Couric, Hannity and Brian Williams, if she was as "accessible to the media" as you imply.

This inside back biting is a surprise? To whom? Run a cluster f*** campaign and you need to hire resis monkeys to do it. They bite each other all the time! So she didn't know Africa is a continent. Niether did most voters. Why even a big wig dem mayor was on tv talking about how this "descendant of slaves" is going to be our next president........Did we elect Michelle?

Really? How come Tom Brokaw said last Friday he had no idea who or what Obama was but he loves Obama anyway?
The analysis doesn't quite add up.
And are not Obama's supporters supposed to be happy with their victory? Why are you guys still so miserable?
Posted by: syn | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Syn, they won't be happy until late in the evening of 20 January 2009, when the last mover has pulled the last box full of Bush's knick-knacks out the White House door.

LOL...notice how Todd the Obamabot starts spinning.
"If CNN is only using the 2 month window post-conventions when Palin was on the ticket, it's misleading."
So when are they supposed to use -- when she WASN'T on the ticket?
Anything to discredit Palin, no matter how inane it is. You realize very quickly that they know just how empty of a suit the Messiah is.
Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 04:46 PM
" when are they supposed to use -- when she WASN'T on the ticket?"
I'm referring to the Obama and Biden interviews during the last 2 years of which there were many, all during the time that Palin wasn't on the GOP ticket. They were extremely accessible and were interviewed by print journalists and tv news reporters very often.
If CNN is comparing the 2 month period after the conventions saying that Biden and Obama were less accesible than Palin, all they need to do is refer to all of those interviews given prior to the conventions to make a proper comparison.
I'm still waiting for links to those interviews that Sarah Palin gave, aside from the Gibson, Couric, Williams and Hannity interviews. Let's see just how accessible she was. In 2 months time, she should have given at least 2 interviews per week, so 15-20 would be entirely proper.
I'm also waiting for a link to what you allege that CNN actually said Palin was more accessible than Biden and Obama. PROVE IT AND SHOW THE LINK.

"Regarding economic issues, note that Alaska is the only state not facing a recession."
That's because oil and gas is the engine of economic growth in Alaska. It's irrelevent who the governor is when a state is entirely reliant on one natural resource. If oil stays over $50/barrel, Alaska does fine no matter who the governor is. If oil goes to $15/barrel, do you think it matters who the governor is then? The state would be in a recession, period. This has nothing to do with Sarah Palin.

How come you Republicans never gave Sarah Palin a hard time for the windfall profits tax she imposed on Big Oil in Alaska? Pretty damned socialist to me.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008103325_alaskatax07.html
Windfall tax lets Alaska rake in billions from Big Oil
While Congress and the presidential candidates debate the wisdom of a windfall tax on oil companies, Alaska has already imposed one, hauling in billions of dollars in new revenue for the state treasury.
By Ángel González and Hal Bernton
Seattle Times staff reporter
Republican Gov. Sarah Palin pushed for the windfall tax over oil-company opposition.
A wealthy state
Most of Alaska's oil production comes from land owned by the state — and leased to the oil companies that look for and extract the crude. But some of the most significant undeveloped resources are in areas owned by the federal government, such as the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge and federal waters in the outer continental shelf. Revenue from oil production there would go mostly to the U.S. Treasury, but the state could claim a small part of it, according to state Department of Revenue officials.
Alaska's oil windfallby the numbers
$6 billion
Estimated revenue collected by state of Alaska from new tax on oil profits this fiscal year.
$10 billion
Estimated total oil revenue collected by state this year (old plus new oil taxes).
$1,200
Special payment to each Alaskan resident this year from new oil tax.
$2,000
Estimated annual dividend each Alaskan will receive this year from oil-wealth savings account, not counting the new oil tax.
How the windfall tax works
The tax is imposed on the net profit earned on each barrel of oil pumped from state lands, after deducting costs for production and transportation.
The tax is set at its highest rate in Prudhoe Bay, where the state takes 25 percent of the net profit of a barrel when its price is at or below $52.
The percentage then escalates as oil prices rise over that benchmark.
Republicans in Congress this June united to defeat a proposed windfall tax on oil companies, deriding it as a bad idea that would discourage investment in U.S. oil exploration.
Things worked out far differently in the GOP stronghold of Alaska, a state whose economic fate is closely tied to the oil industry.
Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

And now we find out from insiders in the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin didn't know that Africa is a continent and South Africa is a country. Nor did Sarah Palin know what coutries make up North America.

The left blogs are all busily translating BDS into PDS, and I see some of those folks have drifted over here.
The Dems see Palin as a serious threat to Ob for a second term and Dem prospects for the future, and are repeating a successful strategy: get out in front with accusations of not just ignorance and/or incompetence, but complete drooling idiocy.
Tell it long, and tell it loud, and pretty soon, it's "conventional wisdom": Sarah Palin, the slack-jawed combination of klutz and criminality. It worked before, didn't it, so slap some breasts on that cardboard cutout and get busy.
