Update: Looks like OJT to me. Grow up, President-elect Obama. You ain't in Chicago anymore.
President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having heald "séances" in the White House, an Obama aide said.
“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference," said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation."
Update: Since today is make fun of old ailing relatives of Presidents, I guess we may as well include the dead, too, right?
This kind of makes Grandma the first official Oba-cicle, no?
A memorial service next month for Barack Obama's grandmother will be attended by the president-elect and his family in Honolulu.
I mean, what's a little humor, right?
Well, unfortunately we've established one thing from Obama's first press conference, he's actually more immature than many of us suspected and feared.
Via Ben Smith, who’s surprised enough to note it, and Karol, who’s seeing red from outrage. Note to The One: The fastest route to post-partisanship emphatically does not lie through Nancy Reagan jokes. Especially when she’s recovering from a broken hip.

Hey Barry, what about Hillary's "conversations" with Eleanor Roosevelt?

What's wrong with a little joke about someone who thinks they can communicate with the deceased?

Speaking of broken hips, that was part of the issues with Obama's recently dead granny.
Has anybody heard if he is going to the funeral or not?

Yep one media outlet pegged him today. "He talks real good and for long periods of time. The problem is he never says anything." Guess he's still voting 'here'. BS to the Max and some like Bob eat it up as fast as it falls. Man this country is in deep sh** and only half the population will shovel. Of course that's the half who go to work every day, pays their taxes and tries to ignore the democrat welfare druggies and drunks hanging on the corner. If 95% of the blacks and 100% of the welfare riders voted for Hussein, who were the other 10? Two statements won him the election "I will give you" and "you will get free". I will count on getting nothing and know there is no such thing as 'free' in the world. Pay with your money (conservatives)or pay with your dignity (liberals).

The government and the media have merged into the Unity Party,
very similar to Pravda and the old USSR or Chairman Mao's Red
China. Unity and harmony is what is called for; dissent is
punishable by re-education. The media fawned over The Great
Redeemer, covering up his thin resume, his radical associations
all the while working overtime to trash Gov. Palin and using the
entertainment industry (late night tv) to mock and ridicule her
every single night so her reputation is ruined.
Attacked by militant muslims are 9/11 and seven years later we
elect an Ivy League educated, Saul Alinksy-ite social agitator,
with a muslim name and an extremely thin resume.
Oprah and Soros created and financed Barry Hussein. He is not my president and I will resist him in any way I can.

At least he apologized to Nancy Reagan personally. However, imprudent remarks won't endear him to many people (especially those who didn't vote for him in the first place) if he keeps making them...and Biden is notorious for this also. They only have 52% of the voting public behind them as it stands now.

Has anyone had the courage yet to inform BO that he really didn't win by a landslide and he doesn't have a mandate from the people? Look, we saw how petty he can be when he threw the reporters off the plane. Today he reinforced that by not taking any questions from the Fox news reporter. They say that he wants to be inclusive and then his actions speak way louder than his words.
I will tell you this, I am so sick of BO supporters telling me that I have to "accept" him as my president. That immediately gets my back up as that word "accept" seems to have more of a religious significance than a political one. When this guy does something, a couple of somethings right then I may re think my opinion but for now I am holding fast to my opinion that he is not up to the job.

"Attacked by militant muslims are 9/11 and seven years later we

We've come a long way in 4 years.
Just think 3 years after George Bush ignored the warnings and allowed the worst attack in U.S. history we re elected the fool to "keep us safe".
And after getting 4,200 killed and blowing $1 trillion for nothing Americans have finally wised up.
And elected a real commander in chief.
Posted by: jharp | Friday, November 07, 2008 at 08:35 PM
Mary, he won by an electoral landslide and his party has firm control of the house and the senate. That is his mandate, get used to it.
As for your comment on Dem first ladies...what???? One, who cares. Two, I can't think of any GOP first ladies who were particularly snappy dressers and three, if memory serves the generally accepted icon for first lady style is Jackie Kennedy, yes?

"seven years later we

Barack HUSSEIN Obama enunciates well, holds a book right side up, can make a sentence using more than seven words and has the good will of the entire world. I'd say that's a tad bit improvement over the guy who's leaving in two months. GWB will have a good life partyin' it up in Crawford while we try and put this country back together again. I do know how it feels to be so disappointed in your president,however...been living with that for the past eight years. There is a GOD!

"As barry gives us a minstrel show...the media laughs...and the US economy crumbles...."
Your guy is presently the Commander-in Chief and is still in the White House with over two months left to fix things After eight years of destruction, do you really think he even cares. GWB will leave his cronies bloated with lucrative contracts and filthy rich. He has taken care of the people and things he cared about and it sure wasn't the economy.
"He's going to pay his respects .... in December.

There is nothing unbelieveable or laughable about planning a memorial one month after a loved ones death. That is the beauty and convenience of cremation. One of the most beautiful memorial services I've ever attended was held one month after the death and cremation. It was thoughtful, well timed, well planned, enjoyable and a true celebration of the deceased life as opposed to the traditional quick funeral. i applaud President-elect Obama and his family for thinking this through like everything else they seem to do.

Ummm, no. The adult has been in charge for the past 8 years. He's being replaced by a snot-nose, passive-aggressive, humorless punk with a narcissism problem.
I'll thank you to ditch the "Semper Fi" bit--even if you served in the Marines (which I did), you gave up your rights to that motto a long time ago.
Hope? To Obama, that's now just the name of a dead comedian. Change? Bobby-Boy, that's all you'll have left in your pocket after you render unto Obama what is Obama's. Heckfire, the way things are going, and if there's any justice, you'll soon be standing on a street corner, holding a sign that says, "WILL TROLL FOR FOOD."

"At least he does press conferences and doesn't stammer like the guy from slingblade unlike your beloved leader. "
Hey Sock Puppet he hasn't held a press conference since September 24th! And I counted 7 uses of the word "uh" in that short 18 second clip! Not exactly a "I like tatters" moment.
That news conference was torture to anyone that has ever had to speak in front of a group. Off script and your boy still does and says the stupidist things possible.
The problem is he needs to actually "do something" now. He's done running for office so the cleaver campaign slogans need to be tossed in yesterdays trash. He can't repeat the past and just pull a "present" vote here. This is not a "Tower Seven contolled demolition", aluminum hat wearing moment, it's the real world with real problems and the MTV rock star crap is over. Time to step-up and be a man for a change.
Disrespecting the former President's widow is the act of a lowlife and classless ass. For him to by saying a "Nancy Reagan thang' doing seances" is beneath a POTUS!
And Mark our Sock Puppet friend Bob/Chris is nothing short of an asshat hating troll.
Just remember "It's hard to carry on a battle of wits when your opponent is unarmed!
Right Sockie? Alah Akbar Bro!

"Just think 3 years after George Bush ignored the warnings and allowed the worst attack in U.S. history we re elected the fool to "keep us safe".
The path to 9/11 was paved by Bill Clinton and the pacifist Democrats. It was Clinton's policy of treating the global Islamic jihad as a legal problem with legal solutions rather than a military problem with military solutions. Clinton had many opportunities to capture or kill Bin Laden and he failed. If he had succeeded, the 9/11 attacks would never have happened.
To try to blame Bush for 9/11 is deceitful and ignorant.
His response to those attacks have been extremely effective. We have not had one major terrorist attack within our country since the 9/11 attacks.
What would Gore have done? He would have tried to arrest and prosecute Al Qaeda members, which is the same failed policy Clinton followed.
I agree with Obamacrats. The Iraq war is a terrible mistake.
It's a mistake because it has empowered the Left and has contributed to the Republican loss of control of congress, the senate and now, the presidency.
Bush and his advisors are fools to have gotten involved in Iraq. His father was much wiser. He kicked Saddam's ass in the Gulf War and got the Hell out.
Obama would not be president had Bush not made the stupid mistake of invading and occupying Iraq.

"To try to blame Bush for 9/11 is deceitful and ignorant."
To try and blame Clinton is more deceitful and more ignorant.
I dunno. What would you have done when warned that Osama bin Laden was "determined to use planes to attack the U.S."?
Go clear brush? Face it. George Bush IGNORED THE WARNINGS AND IT HAPPENED ON HIS WATCH. End of story.
And whatever happened to that Osama bin Laden guy anyways? The one that W promised to bring to justice 7 years ago.

Obama's ignorance towards Nancy Regan is just a first for him... You can count on it! He's a liar, a sneak, a crook, & he is inexperienced.
He had No Business even running for the Presidency. He sealed his birth records, his school records, & he lied about knowing anything to do with
Rev. Wright after 20 yrs., or Rezko, or Ayers... The list goes on & on.
If he is so UNAWARE of things & people, that take place constantly in his Every Day Life, then how can he be compitant enough to be President?
Did anyone think of that? He is simply a LIAR & A SNEAK!
ANYONE who could make jokes at the expense of an 85 year old woman's loss is a sick ****er!

I'm looking forward to having someone in the Whitehouse who can string two words together. However, I thought the remark about Nancy R was careless and disrespectful. Those types of comments are best left for behind the scenes. He needed to apologize. He did. Let's move on.

Osama Bin Laden may very well be dead. He has not been seen on videotape in years. No one except Lieberals denies the fact that the national security issue was not a factor in the election. It was not a factor because Bush's policies have been effective. Al Qaeda has not been able to mount an attack on our homeland since 9/11.
You obviously can't refute the fact that Clinton could have prevented the 9/11 attacks by killing or capturing Bin Laden. He was offered Bin Laden on a silver platter and turned it down. He missed an opportunity to kill him, when instead of ordering an immediate cruise missle attack on a camp where Bin Laden was spotted, he refused to leave a celebrity golf game until it was over. By the time he got back to the White House and decided to order the attack, Bin Laden had been long gone from the camp.
To try and blame Bush is absurd. The hijackers were able to bypass airport security due to liberal "political correctness." They were not allowed to engage in "ethnic profiling" and reaped the rewards.
You are probably also unaware of the fact that the Clinton administration was well aware of the idea that Muslim Jihadists might use commercial jets to attack cities. In fact, I heard a discussion on NPR a year or so before the 9/11 attacks in which a security expert stated that the NSA was concerned about this type of attack. When the 9/11 attacks happened, I was not surprised.
Bin Laden decided to attack us on 9/11 due to his perception that we were a Paper Tiger. He got that impression after seeing Clinton's anemic response to the WTC attack in 1993, the bombings of our embassys in Africa, and the attack on the USS Cole.
In fact, Bin Laden stated in his 1998 interview with John Miller, that he did not fear us.
ABC reporter John Miller's interview with Osama Bin Laden, May 1998:
Miller:
Describe the situation when your men took down the American forces in Somalia.
Bin Laden:
After our victory in Afghanistan and the defeat of the oppressors who had killed millions of Muslims, the legend about the invincibility of the superpowers vanished. Our boys no longer viewed America as a superpower. So, when they left Afghanistan, they went to Somalia and prepared themselves carefully for a long war. They had thought that the Americans were like the Russians, so they trained and prepared. They were stunned when they discovered how low was the morale of the American soldier. America had entered with 30,000 soldiers in addition to thousands of soldiers from different countries in the world. ... As I said, our boys were shocked by the low morale of the American soldier and they realized that the American soldier was just a paper tiger. He was unable to endure the strikes that were dealt to his army, so he fled, and America had to stop all its bragging and all that noise it was making in the press after the Gulf War in which it destroyed the infrastructure and the milk and dairy industry that was vital for the infants and the children and the civilians and blew up dams which were necessary for the crops people grew to feed their families. Proud of this destruction, America assumed the titles of world leader and master of the new world order. After a few blows, it forgot all about those titles and rushed out of Somalia in shame and disgrace, dragging the bodies of its soldiers. America stopped calling itself world leader and master of the new world order, and its politicians realized that those titles were too big for them and that they were unworthy of them. I was in Sudan when this happened. I was very happy to learn of that great defeat that America suffered, so was every Muslim. ...

As I've said, I oppose Bush's stupid decision to go into Iraq. To try and deny the effectiveness of some of his other policies towards the global Islamic Jihad is Bush Derangement Syndrome at it's worst.
