Face it, Caribou Barbie got PNWER'd by Katie Couric. There are few things more pathetic than that. It's all about job creation!!

Hope.Change.

Hey Boob how about laying off Sarah. The election is over and there is no need to carry on the trashing of Sarah Palin. I think it stems from the fact that you and others were naturally not going to try and trash a war POW like John McCain personally so you took it out on Palin. The criticism of her is sexist in the extreme. Granted she should not have allowed herself to be interviewed by Katie(I am sweet but I will knife you in a NY minute)Couric or by Charles (the professor) Gibson. I also know that much of the hatred directed toward Sarah is by non Christians.
And of course the usual crowd full of envy and jealousy.

joeb,

Actually I think the lefties are doing you a favor with the Palin bashing.

It's time for the GOP to move on to another candidate and I hope you all pick a good one.

Palin was a fraud all the way. From her moronic interviews, to her foreign policy experience, and best of all her $150,000 shopping spree courtesy of the GOP donors.

I'm sure she's a nice enough lady but she has no chance in 2012. None.

Good idea. I will leave the Sawah-bashing to the fair and balanced patriots at Fox "News". The gift that keeps giving.

Hope.Change.

How is the criticism of Sarah Palin sexist?

The criticism is based upon her very poor answers in her interviews where she could only refer over and over to talking points, and could provide absolutely nothing in the way of nuance in her answers. Much criticism was also based upon her repeating over and over "I told the Congress thanks but no thanks for that Bridge to Nowhere" when she was clearly on record for being for the bridge before she was against it. Additionally, she then had Alaska keep the money to pay for other projects, instead of returning the pork money after saying she was against the bridge. She then insisted on building the "road to nowhere", a road leading to the bridge that was never to be built, wasting millions of dollars. All this after describing herself as anti-earmark.

She also decried the power of lobbyists in Washington, and it turns out she hired lobbyists to receive earmarks for Wasilla, while she was Mayor.

The hypocrisy of stuff like this insults people's intelligence, and the criticism is valid and well founded. Any politician who displays such hypocrisy is going to get slammed for it. It has nothing to do with gender.

Todd, your critism of SARAH are "JUST WORDS"
The lady is a fine lady and you can say what you want but that does not mean it is true. You can prove nothing ! It is all hearsay and you know it.
Are you a govenor of the largest land mass state in the Union ? NOT !
Now get off your SARAH bashing BS. GOT IT ?
Leave the lady alone and let her be. You are just jealous like all the other left wing nut cases.

Is that your best defense, WBPE? Just words? Why are you so hypersensitive to the criticism of Sarah Palin? She's a politician running for high office - people are going to criticize. Like you haven't criticized Obama and Biden? If they're valid criticisms based in fact, go right ahead. I validate your right to free speech, provided it's based upon facts and not hearsay or innuendo. There's nothing I wrote in my post that isn't based in fact, and I can link to articles to back up any of it.

The fact is that a poll right before the election showed 59% of voters thought Sarah Palin wasn't qualified to be VP, and what I wrote articulated why they thought she was unqualified.

I'm jealous? ROFL.

The fact remains that many republicans did not come out and vote. They bought the MSM reports that it was going to be a landslide and no one in the MSM encouraged them to go out and vote anyway. Think about it, even fox, in the week before the election was behaving as though the election was over and BO had won. The reason they did as well as they did was Sarah Palin. I was never a McCain fan. He never looked like a Republican to me and I disagree with both of them about illegal immigration. I have friends who followed all the immigration rules and became citizens and they are angry about illegal immigration and frankly, I don't blame them. Look, in this country anyone should be able to be president, not just the rich guys from the ivy league schools. It seems they haven't done such a good job anyway. They felt threatened by Sarah. She has already been a very successful governor. They want you to believe that it is that ivy league education that matters to be able to govern, when, in reality it is the common sense and a sense for negotiating and people, which many of them lack, that is far more important.

Mary 59% of voters felt she wasn't qualified, just how did she help McCain?

"They felt threatened by Sarah."

Really? How on earth did Obama feel threatened by Palin?

mary,

How do justify Palin's phoniness on "I'm just one of you" and then buying $150,000 worth of clothing at GOP donor expense? Hint, accepting clothes is the same as accepting cash according to the IRS.

She is a phony, a fraud, an idiot, and a liar. But I respect your right to continue to back her. Though it is sure defeat for the GOP. Look at the polls for Pete's sake, she's not much more popular than George Bush.

Until she has again been cleared by an official witch doctor or passes the floating witch test i am afraid that i will not be able to support her in 2012

jharp, you might want to find the full story before you start astroturfing and throwing out false rumors.

The kind of people who get suckered in by a CBS hit piece, and think a $150,000 wardrobe is a scandal while a $5,300,000 campaign prop/Spinal Tap homage is an inspiration, are the kind of fools who deserve the incoming president. Would that they could get him without the rest of the country and the world paying for the education they're about to receive.

jharp, your intent is obvious, you have no interest in anyone ever fielding a viable candidate against your 0bamessiah.

Your carping cannot hide your fear. Palin is a major threat to your chosen one and it is obvious.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2012/69_of_gop_voters_say_palin_helped_mccain

So by all means keep throwing up your weak ineffectual arguments. While you are at iy you can tell us all about how Barry 0'bomber spent 5 million dollars on his phony shrine at the convention. Change you can believe in?

You guys haven't really studied up on what Sarah Palin *did* to the Alaskan Republican establishment have you?

She lost. First. But. Then she cowgirl-ed up and creamed their ass.

Where you make your mistake, is thinking there's no there, there. You keep thinkin' that y'all. The establishment politicians of both parties simply don't think that - in Alaska - anymore. The rest of y'all are about to learn.

Think about it: no party machine to back her ...but she won anyway. And quite, quite handily.

She's a populist. She's a threat to both parties. She's one of OURS. And we know our own. Blue dogs, working stiffs, trailer trash, the military brats, the just plain folks. You know, the ones who own and practice with All The Guns. Who aren't frightened or put off by sweat. Who bleed red (and not ink) when the country calls.

Heh. You and all the elitest's are right to be running scared though. You've pissed her off, and you're meat. Prey, that is.

She's going to do the same thing again ...this time nationally. Take it to the bank.

jharp, sarah palin is more successful and accomplished than you will ever be. crawl back in your hole, loser, and wait for the obama welfare check to buy your resentful kids some new shoes.

"jharp, you might want to find the full story before you start astroturfing and throwing out false rumors."

Why don't you share the full story whoever you are?

"The fact remains that many republicans did not come out and vote"

That's not a fact, that's speculation that makes Republicans feel better. All you can conclude is that more people voted democratic than republican. Broad comparisons of 2004 and 2008 numbers make too many assumptions to conclude that the election was lost because "republicans did not come out and vote". You can't assume that a republican vote in 2004 would result in a 2008 republican vote. That ignores changes in demographics. Secondly, if in fact, "republicans stayed at home", then so did a large number of Democrats.

Leftists posting here and many other sites sure seem determined to show what lousy, graceless winners they can be.

You guys are funny sucking up to the hick, redneck, hockey Mom, loser, Neiman Marcus babe on someone else's nickle candidate.

Hell, even the GOP talking heads bashed her.

By all means go for it. Throw your support to her with all of your might. It'll be the death of the GOP if the GOP ain't dead already.

"That's not a fact, that's speculation that makes Republicans feel better"

Don't get out much, do you son? The statement is based upon a comparison with the number of Republicans who voted in the primaries, with the number voting in the general. A bunch of conservatives plain didn't like McCain ...those of us who managed to swallow our disgust with him only bellied up to the bar, due to Palin.

That's the truth. ANYthing else you hear - from either the RNC, or the DNC - is purely spin.

"Then she cowgirl-ed up and creamed their ass."

Actually she did nothing. The two other candidates hosed themselves. All she had to do was sit in the middle and smile.

"Take it to the bank."

Sarah won't survive the republican primary. For one, she's an idiot. And secondly, the republican political establishments will eat her alive.

"It'll be the death of the GOP if the GOP ain't dead already"

Son? You think that's a threat or something? Seriously? You ain't heard yet? You certainly ain't paying attention to the talk from conservatives.

We think so too. We're counting on it. We're *planning* to totally put the GOP out of it's misery ...and if we decide to keep the same name, what the Left will be facing at that point will make them wish it was the old one.

That's why the RNC is trying to cut the ground out from under her. Won't work. From their perspective, I'd say they were smart to try.

...not that it will do them ...or the DNC ...a damn bit of good.

...in your dreams gimmieabreak ...in your dreams.

Woo-hoo. There's an upside to tony Marxism after all.

Another question for the Palin bootlickers.

How do you justify her redistribution of wealth program in Alaska?

You know, the windfall profits tax on oil companies to provide a welfare check to every Alaskan?

"We're *planning* to totally put the GOP out of it's misery"

Good luck. I gotta respect someone for bucking the system.

You have no chance, especially with Palin. Why not get behind someone who actually knows something? And doesn't suck a $150,000 wardrobe off of her donors?

If McCain had one, I wouldn't spend one millisecond talking about or deriding Joe Biden. It would be history and I would be focusing on my candidate's victory and plan to turn the country around. I am truly puzzled at the amount of left wing Palin bashing that is still going on. Why can't the libs just sit back and enjoy the republican infighting? Why are commenters still in attack mode on Sarah? If you truly think she is a joke, why disuade us from running her in 2012. If you truly beleived she would lose why not shut up and let us think she is the "One"?

We all know the reason.

"justify her redistribution of wealth program in Alaska"

Factually, it wasn't that. And if you aren't concerned about a Right of center strain of populism, you should be. The liberal rich and the very poor you'd be left with couldn't win. Why not talk about the majorities of CA blacks and hispanics who voted down Prop 8?

All they need is a place to go.

Astroturfers.... They can't enjoy their hopeyyyy and change.

800 DOW down since Obama's election win.

Give me some more of the hopeyyy changgytyy

I learned many, many years ago to not put my faith in people who claim they know something, but haven't proved they can do something.

I'm not a hypocrite, if that's what you're implying by the $150K. Nor I'm no more surprised at a politician who takes advantages of the perks of their position, then you should be (not that I agree that's what happened, but I ain't surprised you do, given the sources you rely upon)

I'm only outraged if they abuse that. I know abuse when I see it ...this wasn't.

Did you read this? Are you just take rumors that are convenient to smear the gov?

Meg Stapleton offers an explanation of some of the more stinging criticisms that have come out in recent days since the McCain-Palin defeat.

Regarding the $150,000 worth of clothing the campaign bought Palin, Stapleton says a New York stylist was given a blank check and told to go and make Palin look presidential.

According to Stapleton, Palin saw a price tag of $3,500 on one outfit and said she didn't want to wear it. Stapleton says Palin was simply presented with her wardrobe and staff. Palin was told "here's your people, here are your clothes.”

Stapleton adds that the McCain staffers tried to hide the cost of the wardrobe. “They said, 'bill the convention under wardrobe so that the cost could be hidden.' And then they realized and they were told that’s illegal. So then they said, 'OK, how do we make this legal and appropriate?' So they had somebody pay for it and then the RNC (Republican National Committee) would reimburse them.”

According to Stapleton, the campaign said, "'this is what you need as a VP candidate.' It was the campaign and/or the RNC ... But it wasn't the governor saying this is what she needs."

Stapleton says $150,000 was the original bill for the clothing, but after some merchandise was returned, the cost went down to $107,000.

There was also a directive to buy any and all clothes before Sept. 4, the day the Republican convention in St. Paul ended, so that it could be buried as part of other convention costs. The campaign also bought clothing for the children, so they, too, would look nice, Stapleton added.

OPPS SORRY!!!...

Quite a troll magnet, this post! Many of you are quite graceless in victory, I see. Insults like "idiot", "hick", and "redneck" are not likely to persuade me into suddenly turning on Sarah Palin. Can you not at least try to imitate the actions of decent human beings? Too much to ask?

The bottom line is that Sarah Palin came in as the most popular governor in America, a governor that took on the corruption in her own party in a way that few politicians ever dare to do (Republican or Democrat.) She was trashed, slimed, slandered, mistreated, and turned into a cartoon character because she was The Other. The number of outright lies told about this lady in such a short period of time may perhaps never be matched.

You can also spare the faux outrage over the RNC-purchased wardrobe (to be donated to charity), the cost of which amounted to perhaps 3% of the bill for Barack Obama's "Temple of My Magnificent Self".

It's amazing how bitter the Obamabots are still. Since their annointed one won the election and nothing has changed yet, they still fine the need to focus their self loathing on something.

Harp & attempt to belittle Governor Palin all you want as it will not do anything but strengthen her resolve and that of her millions of supporters.

She'll be back in 2012 and you pussies are scared already.

I'm going to buy you a clue jharp, if you can stomache it. Maybe even help you out with your confusion about why we'd be supporting her ...and why she'll win.

It has to do with archetypes. Complicated stuff, but Sarah Palin seems to us to be an archetype of what I've heard called (recently) the Frontier Woman. We don't like her because she's some messianic figure though: we like her because of who she is, and what she's done

She is (or more correctly: is representative of), in a sense, the grandmothers, the great-grandmothers and on back to the Founding, who built this country. We recognize that in her, and *by what she has so far accomplished*. We respect what those things represent to us, and in the archetypal sense, that respect is transferred to what we recognize in her of those things.

She's a scrapper. She's a fighter. Good gawd man, she shoots moose, and goes fishing. Not some effete fly-fishing stuff, but off-shore fishing with her husband on a commercial boat. (You even *been* on one of the West Coast's commercial fishing boats? - Good gawd, you don't even know hard work can be until you've done that.) She sweats.

And oh yeah, she's drop-dead gorgeous too.

And we don't accuse people of their mistakes, IF they learn from them. "Mistake" is another word for "experience". Or Life. So if she screws up a few times along the way ...well, who hasn't. Just be honest about it, is all you can ask (and we *do* ask that of a leader).

She draws crowds when she speaks. Like Truman did; and the political elites hated him too. Keep that in mind.

You might like her too, once you listen up close, and quit filtering it through the spin of cultural and political elites who she scares the holy crap out. Bet'cha you will. Not much NOT to like.

...but there's no accountin' for taste. Give it a taste though, first. You might find the depths beneath the shallow film painted by the media and the elites.

Dude. She's the real deal ...and we ain't had one of those in American politics for a long, long time.

So, hell yes we like her. And unapologetically so.

"Factually, it wasn't that."

That's exactly what is was. I'm open to alternative explanations but have yet to hear one.

"And if you aren't concerned about a Right of center strain of populism, you should be. The liberal rich and the very poor you'd be left with couldn't win."

The country is left of center. Maybe a left of center populism I'd join you.

"Why not talk about the majorities of CA blacks and hispanics who voted down Prop 8?"

That is perplexing but I understand it was blacks more than Hispanics. I'm not gay and I'm upset by it. I kind of feel like those blacks who voted in favor of 8 turned their backs on the same group that has fought so hard for equal rights for blacks. It's a real same and a real dark spot on an otherwise joyous election. And I believe the Mormons are going to feel some real backlash over it.

Posted by: Dan Riehl | Friday, November 07, 2008 at 03:02 PM

And no matter what happens to the GOP. Sarah Palin is a dam poor choice to lead a new party.

And my sincere apology for the language the other day. I kind of lost it over a pretty vicious attck on my personally. I guess I'm not smart enough to defend myself with the bad words.

And I appreciate your blog. Thanks for allowing me to post.

You have to appreciate the honesty of these lefty trolls. Most of us know Palin's returning those clothes and donating the rest to a women's shelter. We kind of assume the trolls know it too but keep repeating this $150k thing as a campaign slander.

Turns out, No, they are not dishonest, they are ignorant and too stupid to look for the facts.

Same with the windfall profits tax. I always assumed they really did know the difference between windfall profit taxes and a severance tax. But No, they were not being dishonest. Maybe the guy who ran the kookleft websire they got that meme from was, but these trolls are just ignorant.

So all of what we attributed to campaign malevolence wasn't that at all. The campaign's over, their Messiah won.

What does that leave? Sheer ignorance.

"And I believe the Mormons are going to feel some real backlash over it"

Yer welcome, I hope you saw I deleted that attack as well as the follow up comment.

As for the Mormons - I get that but don't agree with it. Still, it wasn't a group of Mormons that made black vote as they did. A large part of them are socially conservative church going folks. Now with Obama achieving the presidency, I expect black politics to change. But I doubt it will be in only the ways some might predict.

The Dem hold on Blacks was already slipping, even if they weren't going to the GOP. There's anger there. After hitting this goal, they might just start to spread their wings a bit.

And we all know that without the way blacks go Dem in overwhelming numbers, you folks wouldn't have won a national election in the last 30 years.

"jharp, you might want to find the full story before you start astroturfing and throwing out false rumors."

Why don't you share the full story whoever you are?

I smell sockpuppetry

"Stapleton adds that the McCain staffers tried to hide the cost of the wardrobe. “They said, 'bill the convention under wardrobe so that the cost could be hidden.' And then they realized and they were told that’s illegal."

Some smart staffers McCain put in charge.

"So then they said, 'OK, how do we make this legal and appropriate?' So they had somebody pay for it and then the RNC (Republican National Committee) would reimburse them.”"

Also illegal and I hope the IRS is all over it.

"There was also a directive to buy any and all clothes before Sept. 4,"

Also illegal.

"The campaign also bought clothing for the children, so they, too, would look nice, Stapleton added."

Also illegal.

And Palin is either a tax cheat or a complete fool.

And all of it was at the expense of GOP donors.

And I think your story is BS. Got a link?

...couldn't stomache it, I see. Oh well, not too surprised: almost impossible to argue with statements of faith. Toodle-oo, jharp. /thread

"Still, it wasn't a group of Mormons that made black vote as they did."

I believe the television ads heavily influenced the black vote, paid for with Mormon money.

And you have a point about the socially conservative black church going folk. But here in Indiana they mostly voted for McCain due to the abortion issue.

I'm perplexed that Prop 8 won. I strongly believe in time that gay marriage, or whatever it is to be called, will be legal.

Something I strongly believe in and will take to my grave is equal rights for ALL Americans. Including gay ones.

Oh, and Dan.

Thank you for taking those two posts down. I did notice and appreciate it.

i hope you guys run her in 2012. at least dan will have some spank material, which we all know he needs

"Most of us know Palin's returning those clothes"

Do you have a link? And that is some honor she has. Returning an illegal use of donor funds AFTER you've been caught.

"and donating the rest to a women's shelter."

If true kindly take me through the math. What is the value of $150,000 worth of used clothing? Does she have to pay income tax on the portion she used?

And I'll bet that's exactly what the shelter was looking for. $5,000 suits. 30 of them. Or 15 $10,000 suits.

You guys got slickered. Admit it and move on. She's a fake.

"justify her redistribution of wealth program in Alaska"

Factually, it wasn't that."

Bullshit. Factually, it's completely that. Sarah Palin instituted a windfall oil profit tax and took the proceeds and distributed it to Alaskans. It's out and out socialism. Why doesn't Sarah Palin's socialism get you you Republicans all hot and bothered? Is it because she's into Jesus, so you won't criticize her?

Here's the proof: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008103325_alaskatax07.html

Windfall tax lets Alaska rake in billions from Big Oil

While Congress and the presidential candidates debate the wisdom of a windfall tax on oil companies, Alaska has already imposed one, hauling in billions of dollars in new revenue for the state treasury.

By Ángel González and Hal Bernton

Seattle Times staff reporters

Republican Gov. Sarah Palin pushed for the windfall tax over oil-company opposition.

A wealthy state
Most of Alaska's oil production comes from land owned by the state — and leased to the oil companies that look for and extract the crude. But some of the most significant undeveloped resources are in areas owned by the federal government, such as the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge and federal waters in the outer continental shelf. Revenue from oil production there would go mostly to the U.S. Treasury, but the state could claim a small part of it, according to state Department of Revenue officials.

Alaska's oil windfallby the numbers
$6 billion

Estimated revenue collected by state of Alaska from new tax on oil profits this fiscal year.
$10 billion

Estimated total oil revenue collected by state this year (old plus new oil taxes).
$1,200

Special payment to each Alaskan resident this year from new oil tax.
$2,000

Estimated annual dividend each Alaskan will receive this year from oil-wealth savings account, not counting the new oil tax.

How the windfall tax works
The tax is imposed on the net profit earned on each barrel of oil pumped from state lands, after deducting costs for production and transportation.

The tax is set at its highest rate in Prudhoe Bay, where the state takes 25 percent of the net profit of a barrel when its price is at or below $52.

The percentage then escalates as oil prices rise over that benchmark.

Republicans in Congress this June united to defeat a proposed windfall tax on oil companies, deriding it as a bad idea that would discourage investment in U.S. oil exploration.

Things worked out far differently in the GOP stronghold of Alaska, a state whose economic fate is closely tied to the oil industry.

Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.

So, what is the deal with the hypocrisy of Republicans who go nuts about Barack Obama's wanting to spread the wealth around, and their absolute silence of Sarah Palin's Alaskan windfall profits tax which is already spreading the wealth around to Alaskan citizens?

$6 billion windfall profit tax !!!!!!!

Todd,

Please share with me when you figure out the right wing brain.

$150,000 Neiman Marcus shopping spree at republican donor's expense?

She's one of us. Common folk who like to shoot.

While Governor, supports a windfall profits tax and even redistribution of the wealth created for all Alaskans?

Obama is a socialist.

Go figure.

Rasmussen Poll: 64 percent of Republicans want Palin to run for president in 2012.

Hilarious. It's the same 64%(25% of voters) that still approve George Bush's job as President, believe in Bigfoot, UFO's, Methusala, Noahs Ark, and handling snakes to prove one's faith.

Has there ever been an election where a candidate has won 75% of the popular vote and 538 electoral votes?

Go ahead, nominate Palin. An Obama Palin debate would be one for the ages.

Well jharp, first of all, the land is owned by the Alaskan people, hence the profits from drilling on their land goes to them, as Governor Palin negotiated. Second, the oil companies are not taking money out of the pocket from person A and giving it to person B under the guise of "economic justice". Please, save your pathetic analogy for the other twonks you hang out with.

Name ONE damn thing Barack Obama has EVER done to come even close to what Sarah Palin has done in her time in Alaska.

"Well jharp, first of all, the land is owned by the Alaskan people, hence the profits from drilling on their land goes to them, as Governor Palin negotiated."

Socialism.

"Second, the oil companies are not taking money out of the pocket from person A and giving it to person B under the guise of "economic justice"."

They are taking from the businessman and spreading it equally to all Alaskans.

In other words. Socialism.

"Name ONE damn thing Barack Obama has EVER done to come even close to what Sarah Palin has done in her time in Alaska."

How about becoming the first black President in the history of the U.S. with a landslide victory.

And the loser Palin gets to go back to her Socialist state.

Albeit with $150,000 worth of Neiman Marcus duds at republican donor expense.

Go ahead. Support your redneck imbecile in 2012. She has no chance.
