What's even worse is watching the other team run the clock down when they have the ball. McCain has to win Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Indiana, Montana, Ohio and North Carolina in order to have a chance. If he loses any one of these states, then Obama wins. If you look at the polls in some of these places, you realize why McCain only has a 6.3% chance of winning this election.

And it's not like Obama supporters have stopped making phone calls and canvassing neighborhoods. His ground game is still going strong.

I think you'll be shocked to see the support that McCain/Palin will get on Tuesday. I think the media and the Obama nuts have hugely underestimated us. It'll be fun watching them lose.

I just checked the longer history for every relevant state. There is no question that things are tightening up and moving in McCain's direction. Whether there's enough time of McCain/Palin to pull it out - I don't know. The other upside is that except in a few rare cases, Obama hasn't broken fifty percent in most if not all of those states. Given the hype and exposure, one might expect him to have been running consistently at 52-53 all around. He never has.

Yes, it's still a longshot for McCain. But concluding that it's over before all the people actually vote is never a good idea. It's certainly worth fighting for until the end.

TN isn't even close - it's McCain by 14 at RCP.

McCain himself will start a hectic day of barnstorming in Tampa, Fla. Before jetting off to visit six other states in a tour that includes a rally at the Pittsburgh International Airport in Moon Twp. McCain also plans stops in Tennessee, Indiana, New Mexico, Nevada and his home state of Arizona.

Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, has a similarly busy schedule with six stops in five states, including Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado and Nevada.

Sen. Obama will spend Monday visiting three battleground states, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. His running mate, Sen. Joe Biden is scheduled to be in Ohio, Missouri and Philadelphia. Pres. Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton also have Pennsylvania appearances scheduled on Obama's behalf.

Is that the fat lady I hear singing?

Praise Jesus! A landslide! Tuesday!

President Barack Hussein Obama!

ANOTHER UPDATE: Just got this via email from Gallup.com:

The final USA Today/Gallup 2008 pre-election poll predicts Barack Obama will be elected the 44th president of the United States, as he holds a 55% to 44% advantage over John McCain in the allocated estimate of the 2008 presidential vote

________________

UPDATE: Another national poll tonight from CBS News:

With two days left until the presidential election, Barack Obama continues to lead John McCain by 13 points among likely voters, 54 percent to 41 percent, a new CBS News poll finds. The margin in the new poll, released Sunday, is identical to that in a CBS News poll released Saturday.

Jayme:
The Tennessee stop is at the closest regional airport to the coal country and rural areas of SW VA. Also close to West VA, and Western NC. Tri Cities Tn TV stations reach five states (TN, KY, VA, NC and West VA) Might not be as stupid as you imply.

The coal story could be the tipping point in those states that are already too close to call. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Maybe you're right. He can possibly convince a couple of dozen NASCAR rednecks that were going to vote for him anyways to get off their asses and vote.

If they have gas money.

Former CBS employee Bernie Golberg exposed that network's dishonest polling tactics years ago. Anyone who puts his faith in the unethical Rather Network is a fool.

I truly hope you are not stupid enough to believe this.

How could you possibly believe that 40 hours before the voting ends it is possible to trot out a new bogus story that swings the election.

If you think it had any chance at all McCain and the redneck moron hockey Mom are even dumber at running a campaign than I thought.

Harp, did you sober up already?

I bet McCain draws over 10,000 of your so called rednecks at Tri Cities tommorrow. I hear that Lamar Alexander and Fred Thompson are speaking as well.

Keep taking this election for granted. McCain ain't quite done yet.

Was watching the Colts game. And I am taking the election for granted. It's gonna be a landslide.

And McCain is going to lose Virginia, Pennsylvania, and most likely North Carolina. Those educated city folk just aren't easy to fool.

And old Grandpa Fred. What ever happened to the only real conservative candidate? I guess he didn't do so good. Go figure. I guess this confirms conservatism is finally dead.

And WileECoyote, please remember to pay your taxes on time. The interest and penalties you paid last year are more than enough to cover Obama's slight increase.

You are right about Prevent Defense ... and noting how frequently it prevents teams from winning ROFLMAO! Now that I'm thinking about it ... we may learn there were two phases two this shift; the first was in arrogance, thinking he (Obama) was going to win huge when - either way - it's going to be close. the second was when they realized they were in trouble and had to begin responding to their errors. that put Obama off his game and now he's lost his mojo ... while the Mac is Back and McCain + Palin have the right momentum at the right time and - hopefully - in the right place. Two weeks ago the liberals + press basically told John McCain to stand aside and to take his beating like a man. He decided to fight. It's been an impressive run and sure a heck of a lot funner than watching Bob Dole fade away ... but should McCain + Palin win - as it seems a longshot but good bet now - it will only be sweeter to see the huge servings of crow and other tasties that Sarah Palin will get to hand to the media.

jharp,

Hey little feller, your back!
Those are some pretty good posts!

Getting nervous?

Better stay up late and hit a few other blogs, but make sure you hit the nearest retirement home tomorrow and drop off the Republicans are cutting off Social Security leaflets.

Tom in CA

Tom in CA,

No. I am not the least bit nervous and thank you for the compliment.

"Better stay up late and hit a few other blogs, but make sure you hit the nearest retirement home tomorrow and drop off the Republicans are cutting off Social Security leaflets."

Been hitting the bong, Tom? What the hell is this supposed to mean?

Read this:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/02/bush.absent/index.html

Are you republicans as embarrassed as McCain over Bush and his Presidency?

What do you think he did wrong? Why did you vote for him in 2004?

I agree with you - he is embarrassing. I think the US has fallen below the unimaginable with you Republicans.

"Been hitting the bong, Tom? What the hell is this supposed to mean?"

Hey Harpo I think it means smoking bud, reefer, cannibis, weed, pot, ganja, smoke, mary jane, joint, kush, splif, nug, blunt or whatever you call it these days!

But be careful you wouldn't want to get lung cancer and have to come to me for some help, you know the kind I've been doing in my "Data Entry Clerk" job these past twenty years.

On another note you have been getting yourself bitch slapped a lot around here lately, kind of like the treatment you got over at Pattericos just before you got banned. What is about you as an individual that causes such outrage bro!

Just saying!!

And I hope you were just blowing "smoke" about the 15 beers man. That is the sign of a serious alcohol problem.

I can just see you and your wasted golf buddies pounding brews on the course, every golfers nightmare!

That's why I get out at the crack of dawn to play so I don't get stuck behind some drunken hacks that take 5+ hours to play a round of golf.

Just don't tell me you're not one of those guys that play the back tees, "bump the ball a little" you know "winter rules" and walk away with a well made up score in the 80's or 90's that is at least 10 strokes off from all of the "mulligans" and 2 foot "gimmies".

Say it ain't so Harpo!!

It is not a given just yet. It is not over til it's over.
The FAT lady has not sang just yet.
STAND UP, STAND UP, STAND UP AND FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT ! FIGHT FOR AMERICA !
MAC IS BACK !
It is a damn shame that the coal issue was not brought back to the forefront until now. It was out there already for some time now. People just have not been on their toes reminding people of what he had said in the past. What a shame. I do beleive it would have helped even more in this 11th hour.
Obama yesterday embraced the new pastor of the REV. WRIGHT CHURCH. How sad.

GO TO THE POLLS AND VOTE McCain/Palin NOV 4TH. BE STRONG FOR AMERICA ! STAND IN LINE AS LONG AS IT TAKES. It is worth it !
Not God -amn America. God help America.

Please pay no attention to the polls. They are there to discourage you from voting. VOTE ! Just do it.

This is the only poll that really counts. They were the most accurate in 2004.

An analysis of Final Certified Results for the 2004 election showed TIPP was the most accurate pollster of the campaign season, coming within three-tenths of a percentage point of Bush’s actual margin of victory.

CBS IS IN THE TANK WITH OBAMA. To beleive them on anything is stupidity.

http://raymondpronk.wordpress.com/2008/11/03/repeat-of-1948-turnout-puts-mccain-ahead-in-popular-and-electorial-votes/

Repeat of 1948: Turnout Puts McCain Ahead in Popular and Electorial Votes!

McCain will get 50% of the popular vote nationally.

Obama will get 48% of the popular vote nationally.

McCain will get 278 electorial votes.

Obama will get 260 electorial votes.

Congratulations to all who voted.

Voter turnout will hit a new record of about 64%.

Spread the wealth around video. You have see this. Funny and true !

"I just checked the longer history for every relevant state. There is no question that things are tightening up and moving in McCain's direction"

Sure, and in baseball when you're losing 14 to nothing and you score 2 runs there's no question the score is tightening up too. Hang your hat on that if you want. It's just further proof that being a republican is more like being a sports fan than a rational voter.

Enjoy your misery. I certainly will.

The Zogby-Reuters poll shows McLame ahead by 21% among nascar fans. If that isn't a reason to vote for Obama, I don't know what is. The rednecks are poised to crash and burn like #3 tomorrow.

Semper Fi!

Sad but True. 2 Months AFTER Obama said he will bankrupt the Coal Industry the United Mine Workers Union endorsed Obama. Unions no longer support rank and file..

Liberal-Democrat strongly endorses McCain

Obama’s No Kennedy
A former RFK confidante leads McCain’s rally in Gotham.

By Deroy Murdock

In blistering remarks to a Saturday morning rally here, former Robert F. Kennedy aide Bartle Bull embraced Republican John McCain for president, hurled Barack Obama under the bus, and then backed it slowly over the Democratic nominee.

Monday morning. 24 hours til the polls open.

The final USA Today/Gallup Poll is out. Obama is ahead of McCain by 11 points -- 53% to 42%. This is interesting:

Obama's favorable rating is 62% -- the highest that any presidential candidate has registered in Gallup's final pre-election polls going back to 1992.

jharp, go ahead and celebrate. Spike the ball before the endzone. That's the way.

"Been hitting the bong, Tom? What the hell is this supposed to mean?"

I don't smoke. I suspect Tom in CA has been though.

"What is about you as an individual that causes such outrage bro!"

The fact that the GOP has led our country to near ruin. And is trying to sell us the same failed policies.

"And I hope you were just blowing "smoke" about the 15 beers man. That is the sign of a serious alcohol problem."

No. I was serious. And no problems here. Just a little drinking on the golf course.

That's why I get out at the crack of dawn to play so I don't get stuck behind some drunken hacks that take 5+ hours to play a round of golf.

It ain't so. We play fast. Fast enough to play 72 holes in one day. And follow all rules. We're around 10 handicaps.

Lefties getting nervous?

Gore Vidal Signs Open Letter to Obama Urging Him Not to Concede Even If He Loses

By P.J. Gladnick (Bio | Archive)
November 3, 2008 - 08:07 ET

If Barack Obama loses the election, will he graciously concede? According to an open letter signed by author Gore Vidal and a gaggle of leftists, Obama should not concede under almost any conditions. If Jon Voight had signed an open letter to John McCain asking him not to concede, that would be big news. So far the only sound from the mainstream media to Gore Vidal's dangerous request is the sound of crickets chirping. Here is the open letter plea to Obama signed by Vidal among others (emphasis mine):

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/11/03/gore-vidal-signs-open-letter-obama-urging-him-not-concede-even-if-he-l

It gets better.

WITH JUST ONE DAY TO GO.... On the eve of Election Day, four national pollsters have released their final surveys of the season. If there's good news for the McCain campaign in these final results, it's hiding well.

USA Today/Gallup: Obama leads McCain by 11, 53% to 42%, among likely voters. One of the key results that jumped out at me had to do with taxes: 48% of voters believe Obama will raise their taxes, but 50% believe McCain will do the same.

Susan Page, USA Today's Washington bureau chief, added, "One more historic tidbit from the survey: Obama's favorable rating is 62% -- the highest that any presidential candidate has registered in Gallup's final pre-election polls going back to 1992."

Pew Research Center: The final Pew poll gives Obama a seven-point lead, 49% to 42%, but then goes a step further and extrapolates from the remaining undecideds to arrive at a prediction: 52% to 46%. (Eric Kleefeld notes that this methodology got the result just right four years ago.)

CBS News: Obama leads McCain by 13, 54% to 41%. The report added, "More than nine in 10 of each candidate's voters now say they have made up their minds about who to vote for and are not likely to change. Just seven percent of Obama voters and 8 percent of McCain voters say they still might change their minds."

NBC News/Wall Street Journal: Obama leads McCain by eight, 51% to 43%. This tidbit struck me as interesting: "Voters are just as likely to identify with Sen. Obama's background and values as they are with Sen. McCain's, with the Democrat having made up substantial ground in this regard."

—Steve Benen 8:00 AM washingtonmonthly.com

Great vid WBPE. But are you really selfish enough to want to keep your dough in your pocket when Obama's auntie is in such dyer need because her neph doesn't care a bowel movement about her?

IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who'd been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

VOTE ! Just do it.

CBS,Gallop, and the rest of the polls are IN THE TANK WITH OBAMA. To beleive them on anything is "stupidity".

If you vote for Obama, and you think your heating bill and electricity bills are high now, just wait if this foolish idiot gets in office. He wants no coal plants and no nuclear plants for energy. Wind and solar are all he is pushing for. He is kidding or what ? What a damn fool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdi4onAQBWQ

Obama said he will will bankrupt the coal industry. Just shows you what an idiot he is. What a damn shame this man got this far. That Kool aide he has been dishing out must have been some strong stuff !

In the interview, Obama had said that his "aggressive" cap-and-trade plan would charge polluters for every unit of carbon or greenhouse gas they emit, a plan that would render polluting coal plants financially unviable.

"He said that, sure, if the industry wants to build coal-fired power plants, then they can go ahead and try, he says, but they can do it only in a way that will bankrupt the coal industry, and he's comfortable letting that happen."

"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can," he said. "It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

Obama is merely what MSNBC and other liberal media say he is - merely what they say!
Actually he is a charlatan bilking people that believe what the liberal secular media say he is. His background is rotted and corroded by unAmerican, even anti-American associates like the not so Reverend Wright, Bill the domostic terrorist and murderer Ayers, Palistinian leaders, not to mention the ultra liberal law faction at the out of touch Harvard University that would like to see one of theirs in the White House. A more unAmerican person couldn't have run for the presidency in today's America.
I reject him and all that he stands for and I will use the only power I have as a citizens - my vote - and not vote for him.

Barack Hussein Obama reminds me so much of what I imagine Adolf Hitler was like - smooth talking, surface-plausible to the inexperienced/uneducated, egomaniac, power-mad. But completely ignorant (or completely disinterested) in the effects of his socialist policies on the average hard-working American.

The evidence on 'global warming' is completely against the purported goals of his 'coal-fired' clampdown. There's no need for such precipitous action except as another insidious socialist 'spread the wealth' scam.

Yet B. Hussein would drive poor families out on the streets with raised electricity rates (or more likely force higher taxes on the rest of us to pay for it).

Vote NO on the Anschluss! Vote Yes for McCain/Palin!

Want change? Real Change? Change that means change to an unAmerican life style? Change in why you get up or don't get up to go to work? Change from an America that is a strong leader to a European-like weak socialist America at the mercy of radical Islam? then, you vote for Obama!
I am not voting for his kind of change...too radical for me!
Barney Frank and the like! Fear McCain and Palin's adminitration now!
Join me, McCain and Palin...straight talkers and non-unAmericans to clean out the crud in Congress.
Vote McCain/Palin ticket I am.

"TN isn't even close - it's McCain by 14 at RCP."

Finally, a poll Dan can quote with faith.

Dear Mr. Lacksavagina:

I am really beginning to enjoy your elf-like sense of humor. However, my suspicians are growing stronger that you are no more Norwegian than Gustavus Adolphus. For those not familiar with GA see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustavus_Adolphus .
Perhaps you are just an American funnyman like your Minnesota friend Al Franken. If the good people of Minnesota elect that funnyman to the U.S. Senate, it will be one of the biggest jokes ever played by a state on the country, similar in humor to the election, over and over again, of funnyman Barney "I tried to improve Fannie and Freddie but the Republicans wouldn't let me" Frank.

You know, as a pseudo-Norwegian that trolls originated in Scandinavia, don't you, you sly fox?

Yours in admiration of phony Norwegian funnymen,

Says "Obama is a Con Man and a Charlaton.

Charlatan
Individual who makes fraudulent claims to knowledge or skills. Charlatans are also known as frauds, humbugs, mountebanks, and quacks

Con Man
Informal a person who swindles someone by means of a confidence trick

-->Barack read this book before he decided to become a nominee.<---

How to be a Con Man

"I could sell shit at an anti-scat party," he says, "you have to figure out someone's wants and needs and convince them what you have will fill their emotional void." A con man is essentially a salesman -- a remarkably good one -- who excels at making people feel special and understood. A con man validates the victim's desire to believe he has an edge on other people.

It requires avid study of psychology and body language. It's an amazing paradox--a con man has incredible emotional insight, but without the burden of compassion. He must take an intense interest in other people, complete strangers, and work to understand them, yet remain detached and uninvested. That the plan is to cheat these people and ultimately confirm many of their fears cannot be of concern.

This understanding of context and history is yet another separation of liberal from conservative. By definition, conservatives are conscious of history, tradition and the symbols associated with them. Similarly, liberals struggle to free themselves of the constraints of history and tradition—they strive to remake the moment unconstrained by what has gone before. The prudent man sees great danger in such abandonment of history and context. Humans are made human by our use of symbolic language and our ability to perceive narrative. We fail to see and understand the meaning of that narrative at our peril, because human nature does not change; human depravity remains what it is, and humans will persevere in violence and oppression unless knowledge of and reverence for history and context prevent them from repetition of their mistakes.

Hillary was supposed to lose most states big, too. Turns out she came roaring back from polls that showed her losing just as badly in states like Pennsylvania.

It's all about Obama trying to disqualify his opponent and drive down turnout. Seems that the Messiah can't win on the merits, so he sends out trolls like jharp to throw public screaming fits and funky polls all over the place to keep people from voting.

This race is nowhere near close, nor has it been for about two months now.

Pretty comical to see GOP fanboys waving the same one or two polls that call it close enough to give them hope. Even Karl Rove has called this for Obama, & decisively so. McCain's finishing up the ugliest, lousiest campaign in Americans' living memory - his selection of Palin was pure political seppuku: at this point, Dukakais riding on top of that battle-tank looks like JFK next to him.

The Republicans have turned themselves into a joke, with nobody to blame but themselves - there's been no sabotage, no treason, no conspiracies ... just orgy after orgy of full-bore stupid, with the lid off & the throttle down.

You had power for 20 of the last 30 years - & America is on its knees as a result.

Time's up.

@WBestPresidentEver:

You keep touting the TIPP poll as the most accurate in 2004, which is true, HOWEVER it was one of the LEAST accurate in 2006 after they changed their model.

I wouldn't put all your hopes into TIPP in 2008.

You sound like you're trying to convince yourself, Jim.

Worried about people finding out that Barack Obama aids and abets illegal immigrants like his family members in receiving welfare and housing at the expense of American taxpayers?

Worried about people finding out that Obama knows that electric bills will "skyrocket" under him and doesn't care that Americans will be forced to pay that much more for heat and light?

Worried about people finding out that Obama wants to "bankrupt" anyone who owns or operates a coal-fired power plant -- which will put literally hundreds of thousands of people out of work?

Worried about the fact coming out that Obama campaign operatives are illegally voting?
