"I'm interested in one of you cowards stepping forward and defending President Obama's power to listen to your phone calls and monitor your e mail.

And imprison you without charges, a trial, or a lawyer for as long as he sees fit. For only the reason that he considers you an enemy combatant."

Absolutely he can if I've shown myself to be a terrorist.

But what's funny about this is that you'd think, after eight years, Bush would have rounded up jharp, since jharp insists that Bush was listening in on his phone calls, monitoring his email, and immediately declaring as an "enemy combatant" and imprisoning without charges, a trial, or a lawyer for as long as Bush saw fit anyone Bush wanted.

As usual, jharp is screaming about a red herring. Typical, though; leftists like jharp have been supporting and enabling terrorist activities for years, as we see in this case, and are horribly upset about the fact that the Bush administration has been catching and imprisoning people who do it.

A found father, Alexander Hamilton, IIRC, once said (I'm paraphrasing) that the responsibility of the majority is to protect the rights of the minority. California failed to do this. This is a prime example of what's wrong with allowing citizenries to alter constitutions with a mere 50.0000...1% of those who showed up to vote.

P.S. You're a douchebag.

Meanwhile, as for the Hispanic vote, why should the Republican Party treat them like the racist Democrats like jharp do and assume that they all vote the same way based on skin color?

Example: between forty and fifty percent of Hispanic voters supported Arizona's various propositions requiring identification at the polls, identification to receive state benefits, and English-only law.

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/79818

Republicans don't need to do things differently to attract Latino voters; they simply need to do the right things. Small-government thinking, a pro-success agenda, and low taxes are attractive to voters everywhere; if anything, they would be more attractive to educated and successful Hispanic voters, who fled countries like Venezuela and Mexico that are (or until recently, were) governed by Barack Obama-esque leftists who go on and on about "redistributing wealth" and who make it obvious that graft and corruption are not only a part of, but are encouraged, in their administrations.

"No more preemptive wars against countries who don't threaten us"

Define "us". Does that include...smaller countries with weaker militaries threatened/invaded by larger bullies? As a thought experiment, answer based on a hypothetical Venezuelan invasion of say Curacao(Dutch) or Dominica.

Would you allow comrade Chavez to take either of those?

"A found father, Alexander Hamilton, IIRC, once said (I'm paraphrasing) that the responsibility of the majority is to protect the rights of the minority. California failed to do this."

Since you believe marriage is a "right" that should not be denied to anyone, when can we expect you to show up with signs in favor of the pedophiles, the incestuous individuals, the polygamists, the bestialists, and the others who are prevented by law from exercising what you claim are their "rights"?

jharp

So you are telling me that people that are captured in the battlefields of Afghanistan should be afforded with Constitutional rights because ??
Considering that he had no qualms in using the law as well as the press to remove his political opponents in Chicago on his way to the US presidency , why would I doubt that he would not do the same when he is in power . Tell me , jharp , how much do you know about Obama aside from the narrative he made for himself ? Everybody knows that he went to Columbia , Harvard law , his stint as an editor of the Harvard Law Review , his work as community organizer , as a member of the Annenberg Foundation , as a faculty member of the University of Chicago , as a State Senator , as a Illinois Senator . The problem is that nobody knows what he really accomplished between Columbia and being the President elect . Nobody knows his grades in Columbia , nobody knows if he wrote more than one editorial in the Harvard Law review that he penned under his real name , nobody knows what he accomplished as a community organizer in Chicago . How about his stay in University of Chicago , fellow faculty members from both sides of the aisles never knew where he stand , no thesis or published papers to peer review . How about his stint as a state senator in Springfield . Honestly , what bill did he really write without the help of Emil Jones and why did his voting patterns had revealed that he voted present instead of voting yes or no ? How about his stint as Illinois junior senator . What did he do in the Senate ??

You see , jharp , those people who have mysterious pasts and had found themselves elected in the highest political office with the help of the press and a blinded electorate have a terrible tendency to do what you had just posted because they are afraid that someone will find out their real agenda and when the truth comes out , they fear that their careful manipulation of facts and lies will fall like a house of cards that will lead to his ouster . So , in the case of Obama , if somebody questions him , he or she is a racist because they doubt him and insult him and we found that out during the election campaign . I have no qualms to say that when he had stacked the judiciary with judges and lawyers that have the same mindset as him , your fervent wish will come to pass . But hey , enemies of the State only applies to those who disagree with you .

Just as I expected. Idiotic responses that totally ignore my question.

You are all cowards. Cowards.

And losers.

Beware. President Obama is going to be listening to your phone calls. And if it's something he deems a threat? Your ass is going to jail. Without a lawyer, charges, or a trial. For as long as the messiah feels like it. And there isn't a dam thing you can do about it.

You have all made your bed. Now it's time to sleep in it.

Thanks to George Bush.

Or, more precisely, answers that point out that we respect Presidential power and the capability to use it to defend the country, even when we don't agree at all with the person in power.

Which also exposes how shallow and hypocritical people like yourself are who can't.

Your problem is, jharp, that you and your fellow Democrats would rather defend terrorists who want to murder thousands of Americans than you would agree with George W. Bush on something. You've even sided with them, as this reference makes clear.

And we have this - ready to rule

November 9, 2008
Obama to "Really Take Power and Begin to Rule"

Mere presidents govern. The Moonbat Messiah will rule.

Obamunist Valeria Jarrett, co-chair of The One's transition team, on Meet the Depressed:

It's important that President-elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one.

Jarrett's choice of words is ominous, given that with Congress and the media completely behind him, there is no one in a position to remind the megalomaniacal Chairman O and his acolytes that he wasn't elected dictator.

http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2008/11/obama_to_really_1.html

"Or, more precisely, answers that point out that we respect Presidential power and the capability to use it to defend the country, even when we don't agree at all with the person in power."

That's two votes that President Obama can listen in to phones and e mails from whoever he chooses.

And throw your ass in jail without charges or a trial for as long as he sees fit.

And you are an idiot, NDT. All I ask for is judicial oversight.

"Absolutely he can if I've shown myself to be a terrorist."

Posted by: North Dallas Thirty | Sunday, November 09, 2008 at 10:24 PM

You are a small minded birdbrained nitwit.

That is the whole goddamed point. He doesn't have to show that you were a terrorist. He (the President) can declare you to be an enemy combatant and throw you in jail without a trial. And better yet without charges.

...case closed.

Really ? Since when do judges decide what to do with prisoners of war or in this case , illegal combatants ? Since when do judges decide what the president should do in war time . Heck ,if we follow the the Indian wars from 1790's to 1890s , the war of 1812 , the American- Mexican War , the US Civil War , The Spanish - American War , the Philippine Insurrection , the Boxer Rebellion , Pershing's punitive expedition against Pancho Villa , WWI , WWII , Korean War , Vietnam War , Grenada , Panama invasion , Gulf War I , Somalia , Bosnia and Afghanistan , the oversight came from the Senate and Congress in response to the president's actions as well as the military . Why would there be judicial oversight when the job for such an oversight should be with the Senate and Congress ? The Judiciary's job does not include oversight in times of war . Show me where in the US Constitution that the Judiciary should be given the right to have judicial oversight in wartime conflicts .

I am flattered that you have taken the trouble to post using my screen name.

Just what is the policy at riehlworldview when it comes to that?

You are a loser. And a mental midget that has nothing of merit to post.

jharp
And the judicial precedence were done during WWI under Woodrow Wilson and WWII under FDR who by the way were both Democrats . And in both instances , many of those thrown into prison where native born Americans whose ancestry came from countries that were fighting against the US . Strange though , George W Bush did not even come near to what he is accused of by you . Because if he did , why do you think you are still posting . Take it from me , during the Marcos era , if the government think that you are an enemy of the state , you won't be talking about it the following day .

Sorry about that , that is my post . I own the post . I made a mistake in typing .

Well, a mental midget is better than a fool pretending to be wise . At least the midget knows his limitations but your foolishness is there for everyone to see .

You're just like the rest of the cowards her. Ignore the question and throw out some bullshit as a smokescreen.

I'm interested in one of you cowards stepping forward and defending President Obama's power to listen to your phone calls and monitor your e mail.

And imprison you without charges, a trial, or a lawyer for as long as he sees fit. For only the reason that he considers you an enemy combatant.

Posted by: jharp | Sunday, November 09, 2008 at 08:48 PM

Just answer the question. Jackass.

Brave talk over the internet , huh . jharp . Considering that it's within the War Powers that was never repealed and there is much judicial precedence from the time of the US Civil War and was used in WWI and and in a much greater extent by FDR during WWII . I see no reason why he won't use wiretaps and other intrusive devices against enemies of the State . Of course , his definition of who is the enemy of the State would make a whole world of difference of who goes to prison without a trial , wouldn't it .

jharp, all you can do is insults, selfrighteousness and caricature. You did not answer my question. For the record: Bush did not spy on his opponents, he did not intimidate his critics, and he did not create a situation where this would be legal or justfied. Bush can be blamed for not adequaltely defending himself, but he has shown nothing but grace and goodwill to people who undermined and insulted him.

So if Obama CHOSES to abuse his power, I will blame him and so should you.

That "blame Bush" rhetoric will grow stale real fast, but I realize that some people have nothing else to go by. Or maybe you really would like a little liberal fascism? I don´t know unless you answer my question. I also suggest you stop getting your daily fill of hate from left-wing blogs and get informed about conservatism from our side (if you can stop hyperventilating long enough) and I don´t mean by reading blog comments.

Lookie, Harpo, 112, and Moe. The meme on presidential power has changed from "Bush caused all our problems" to "Obama was elected on a promise of change, but the nature of the job makes it difficult for presidents to do much that has an immediate impact on the lives of average people. Congress plans to take up a second economic aid plan before year's end - an effort Obama supports. But it could be months or longer before taxpayers see the effect."
So now the meme is: "...the nature of the job makes it difficult for presidents to do much that has an immediate impact on the lives of average people."

Funny how things change when the Dems get the power. Soon there won't be mention of the homeless or jobless in the Big Media any more.

If I Were CEO of the GOP (Not That They Listen to Me, Because They Had Their Chance)

It is frustrating and pathetic to watch the mainstream media and some Republicans try to explain John McCain’s loss for the presidency. Even worse, some McCain staffers are reportedly trying to blame the choice of Governor Sarah Palin as the reason for their loss, so they can position themselves for their next campaign job.

I do not know any of the McCain top staffers and I do not intend to insult them, but they need a wake-up call before they staff-infect another Republican’s run for high political office. What I am about to say may be hard medicine, but that’s how you recover from a serious illness.

I would not hire any of them for even a dog-catcher campaign, because collectively they resemble the same team that ran the 1996 Dole-Kemp campaign, with the same problem.

Namely, they would not listen.

The title of this post is most appropriate. It was funny to watch the bloated slot-machine-lover Bill Bennett declare, moments after BO won the presidency that "America is still a center-right nation". Sorry, gambling-man, you don't get to define what America is or isn't.

You.lose.

"Oh, fabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" Oh fabjous day, chris. Are you ready to be ruled by a ruler? I wonder if ruled could mean struck by a ruler in the old nun"s manner.
http://www.lucianne.com/threads2.asp?artnum=435177

I have a very strict rule against trying to repeat a comment I made on a previous thread, but, after reading Harpo's performance on this one [slightly edited to make me look better]:

""Granpapa", my grand children will say, "did you really know jharp the Great and his friends?" "Yes, in an internet sort of way, I knew all that bunch of lefty pioneers." "Oh, granpapa, will you tell us about them?" "Certainly my darlings."

"jharp was a person of imposing features. His jaw was like a pillow on a king-size bed. His tongue was like an adder's head. His eyes were like #2 buckshot and his nose was like a collection plate. What came out of it was like 10W-30 motor oil and his spittle was like brake fluid."
"But his most interesting parts were his brain mechanisms. He had a memory like a colander and senses like a bat from Austin, Tx., he could hear everything but see nothing. His logic was like a fencing foil, long, hard, and pointless. His ability to be unconvinced of an obvious truth was like Dick Butkus, nothing could get past it. He had a sense of humor like Othello, the gravitas of Red Skelton, the happy mood of King Lear, the friendliness of a gator, and the self-control of a drunk on the bowery. Oh but he was a charmer, a lover of the little guy, a protector of the environment, and a proponent of health care as long as it wouldn't cost him anything. Did I know him? Oh yes, my dears, I did.:

jharp, you have not answered my question but I will try to answer yours.

President Bush did not intimidate his critics, he did not use his powers to silence political opponents, he did not oppress anyone. In fact, he can be criticized for not defending himself adequately. Everyone makes mistakes but Bush has shown grace and goodwill even to political enemies who undermined and insulted him at every step.

If Obama CHOSES to abuse his powers, I will blame him and his party. And so should you. Will you or will you make excuses?

I realize that you have been on the "blame Bush" train for a long time, but the ride is over. Democrats are in charge now. They never offered anything constructive in the last eight years, only bitter partisanship. They claimed they would do everything better and now they bear the responsibility they said they wanted. No more excuses.

I think we will continue to get bitter partisanship from them and you are the poster child for that. You have little to offer except insults and hyperventilation. I think you should stop getting your daily fill of hate from lefty blogs, stop hyperventilating and try to find out about conservatism (and I don´t mean from blog comments). You have this caricature in your head.

Pretty funny, eh Fred? We've elected a king, and he is now ready to rule. That old addage, "You better be careful what you wish for, it just might come true", could not be more contemporary.

Then el gordo comes back with this.

"I will try to answer yours."

"President Bush did not intimidate his critics, he did not use his powers to silence political opponents, he did not oppress anyone. In fact, he can be criticized for not defending himself adequately. Everyone makes mistakes but Bush has shown grace and goodwill even to political enemies who undermined and insulted him at every step."

"If Obama CHOSES to abuse his powers, I will blame him and his party. And so should you. Will you or will you make excuses?"

el gordo,

You are a dishonest right wing hack. You didn't try to address my question. Thou spouteth a smokescreeen and gibberish.

Do you support Obama's power to eavesdrop on our phone calls and e mail or not?

And declare anyone he sees fit an enemy combatant and lock them up indefinitely with no charges, no trial, no lawyer?

templar? Fred?

Since you believe marriage is a "right" that should not be denied to anyone, when can we expect you to show up with signs in favor of the pedophiles, the incestuous individuals, the polygamists, the bestialists, and the others who are prevented by law from exercising what you claim are their "rights"?

Nice of you to join the conversation Senator Santorum.

How on earth is the marriage of two consenting adults related to bestiality, pedophilia or polygamy?

Get ready to bend over and take america (this is not an endorsement of gay or transgendered marraige) THE KING IS READY TO RULE!!!

The co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, appeared on Meet the Press this weekend and used, shall we say, an interesting word to described what she thinks Barack Obama will be doing in January when he's officially sworn into office. She told Tom Brokaw that Obama will be ready to "rule" on day one. Jarret told Brokaw that "given the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one."

HEY BARRY THIS AINT KENYA!!!

NEWS FLASH----

At a press conference earlier today a spokes person of for the President Elect announced that obama will use executive order to create "Obama Day" as a new national holiday. He stated that this will provide the needed stimulus to create jobs, provide free health care, free college education and pay for Americans mortgages and gas."

When pressed for details by the media the press conference was abruptley cancelled.

I think it's cute that the winger's / Bush supporters are suddenly all in favor of checking executive authority. Why? This proves that conservatives have something to hide. Conservatives, as evinced by the number of threats made against President-Elect Obama, are a well-known threat to peace and security, and should be closely monitored. If necessary they should be detained upon secret evidence to which they have no access or possiblity of refutation. In the name of national security, conservatives should be compelled to prove that they are not planning terrorist activities against the United States of America. President-Elect Obama will be the commander in chief. Those under him serve at his pleasure. He will be the unitary executive.

"He will be the unitary executive."

Yeah, that's exactly what one of his staffers said. And I love the fact that you boys weren't really against eavesdropping or unauthorized wiretapping. You were just against it if Bush was suspected of same. Oh, well, two years of rule by the King before the next elections. I have a feeling they won't be that kind to the new grand exalted ruler. Hell, I might be in Congress myself. Who knows? LOL!

The nightmare that happened on November 4 will resonate for decades because of the placement of Supreme Court Justices by the Obama Thugocracy. Why is no one talking about the supposed gaffe of the woman slated for Housing Secretary who stated, quote, He (Obama) must be ready to take power and rule on Day one, unquote. Not Govern, but Rule? Hold on tight, kiddies, because this rollercoaster to hell and back is just starting to ramp up. I live in Chicago and if there is one thing machine Democrats know how to do is how to put in the fix. The GOP needs to become ruthlessly competitive, technologically savvy, and like the previous poster said - know your positions and hammer the message. We've been trying to bend over backwards, courting votes, it DOES NOT WORK. The media will always always always hate conservatives, ditto the morally-bankrupt high school dropouts who live in 90210. The sad fact is that demographically more people who want handouts, freebies and Big Daddy went to the polls on Nov. 4. The GOP needs to roll up their sleeves, stop acting like it's 1950, and inject young, intelligent thinking to complement the wisdom of our older Republicans. I have a sick feeling that 2012 will not come soon enough, and civil war, Depression, social tinkering, poisoning of young minds, usurpation of Free Speech and the 2nd Amendment will all be part of the Panoply of Horrors that awaits us. Yeah, and have a nice day...keep watching Dancing with the Stars while our culture is torn to shreds.
