No matter who wins the presidency, Democrat majorities in Congress will likely put card check in play. It could be one of the first major fights early next year. Best to make yourself aware of the Dems anticipated play.
They want to re-invigorate the unions to put more money in their campaign chests and more jackboots on the ground.

There are two seperate constraining factors on the potential uni-polar govt:
the senate-I must commend the democrats for their time in the wilderness, making the filibuster a viable option for all senate decisions. In refusing to change to allow judicial nominees to get an up or down vote, I richly anticipate the same tactic being performed on both supreme court nominees, as well as the appeals courts.
the house-anybody notice that nancy had a very hard time getting half her party to vote for the bailout? I knew there were 60-70 blue dogs, but also saw that there were 50 other moderates who appear opposed to govt spending.
I sincerely doubt that obama will be able to slalom thru the two bodies with anything close to the liberal policies he has been advocating. It works for obama to call for an increase in taxes during a campaign, but I kinda doubt he would have a majority in the house or senate that will have his back, regardless of which party holds the majority.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has decided to hold a vote this Wednesday on perhaps the most unpopular element of the Democratic agenda. The Employee Free Choice Act has already passed the House, but now it faces real hurdles in the Senate because, contrary to the name, it undermines workplace democracy.
Under the so-called card-check bill, a company would no longer have the right to demand a secret-ballot election to certify a union, thus stripping 140 million American workers of the right to decide in private whether to organize.
Republican senators, except possibly Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter, are uniformly opposed to the idea. "We went to the secret ballot in the early 1800s in this country for a darn good reason: If somebody's looking over your shoulder, your ballot doesn't mean much," Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says, noting fears of intimidation by unions should the bill pass.
But conservatives aren't the only ones concerned. A February survey of 1,000 likely voters by McLaughlin Associates found that 79% of respondents oppose the bill, with only 14% in favor. Even Democrats opposed the idea, 78% to 16%."

If this happens you will see more and more jobs leave the country.
Unions are the reason a lot of the jobs are no more in this country.
I do believe in companies being fair to their employees but the dues people have to pay are only for paying the union employees their high salaries and using the difference to lobby congress for BS and to fatten a democrats campaign fund. It is a known fact that Unions favor democrats. Why is that ? If I was a Union member shouldn't I have a say in where my dues go and for what ?
The union dues these people have to pay would be better spent from the workers own pocket to buy groceries and pay their own bills. It is another example of how the people get conned into believing somehow that a union is there to help them. Yeah right.
I would never work for any company that has a Union. My money is my money and I have no disire to pay a Union employee's salary for them and for any other of my money to go to pay for some BS.
I have never liked any Unions. Abolish them all.
I hope Wal Mart is not forced into having to be part of a Union. That would be sad.

And before the Democrat trolls show up, here's exactly what their union pets, all of whom endorse and support Obama, are doing with the power Obama and his leftist Democrats give them.

What's even funnier: Obama-controlled organizations like ACORN that try to force unions on other companies won't let their own workers organize unions.

"600,000: The number of new employees Wal-Mart hires each year. The company's turnover rate is 44 percent -- close to the retail industry average."
market cap is 220 billion.
The cost of unionizing would reduce their labor force, reduce the size of the company, and reduce the stock price for those holding WMT in their 401ks. but on the bright side wages would go up for 80% of their labor force, while the other 20% would be out of work.
business cost would also increase, raising prices, and reducing sales. for good or bad, walmart is seen as a microcosm of our retail sector. very curious to see if obama wins, and to see if he can lead a country out of recession by going after retail. I still think card checks are a myth to scare conservatives into voting. It simply doesn't have the broad based support that would prove consistent with a president seeking to convey a populist message.

It's a shame that we'll have to wait until February or so until the 2nd Amendment is repealed. I hope that Senator Reid and Rep. Pelosi get things going so that it happens as soon as possible.

you know that's not going to happen, sweetface.
