Jemar Barksdale, 34, of Chester, while employed by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, submitted 18 fraudulent forms using the names of existing voters, and 22 other applications in which the information was "completely fictitious," according to District Attorney G. Michael Green.
Not "the" Jemar Barksdale who wrote "Change," I hope??
I''m going down the block, just walking my walk.
Just cruising round the hood, talking my talk.
My life is straight cash, my heart is set in stone.
I have my car, my money, my girl has a cell phone.
To everyone else, who cares if they take their life?
I have their money, so why not give them the knife?
How can he say anything, how can he tell me what to do?
Because he ain''t never been even a mile in my shoes!

Say Dan, is the DA after him because of election fraud or because his poetry criminally sucks?

Oh my God.
Our democracy is in mortal danger. Someone has been accused of turning in 18 fraudulent voter registration forms and 22 others with "completely fictitious" information (whatever in the hell that means). And why they'd report that separately I don't know.
Never mind than none of these were used to cast a fraudulent vote.
Call out the National Guard.

I'm impressed at how ACORN management identified him fairly quickly and removed him from service. He was canned in barely over a week. I've worked a number of jobs in high school and college and douche bags like that usually make it to their first paycheck before they get shown the door.
Bravo ACORN. Good work. Way to keep our elections clean and fair.

where do you think fraudulent votes come from you moron?
from fraudulent registrations thats where. If a registration is legal, then that person can vote. It all starts with illegal registrations. The acorn doesnt fall far from the tree.

"-- where do you think fraudulent votes come from you moron?

Oh, gee. All this time I thought fraudulent votes came from electronic voting machines with no paper trail created by companies with a vested interested in seeing Republicans in office.
I thought voter fraud occurred when Republican operatives in Florida started throwing out thousands of votes as "illegitimate" because of hanging chads.
I was under the delusion that stealing an election involved turning tens of thousands of registered voters away from the polls in swing states like Ohio or Florida by threatening them with arrest over unpaid traffic tickets.
Turns out, it was all arranged by a bunch of ACORN staff-workers with fake IDs labeled "Mickey Mouse" and "Heywood Jablowme".

Hey Lame-O you forgot to include that "9/11 was an inside job" and "Tower 7 was a controlled demolition"
And those college students that moved into Ohio and rented a house so they could vote in a swing state are more the true face of voter fraud;

Please Wile, please tell me about all of the fraudulent votes cast and the resulting prosecutions.

We should all be sending this article around to our friends:
"It's time to face facts. In-your-face liberalism is about to make a comeback. And this time it will be on steroids.
Next year the Democrats will control both houses of Congress, most likely with comfortable, perhaps filibuster-proof majorities. If there is a Democratic president, too, Washington will host one of the most liberal governments in American history. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid are more than ready to make staggeringly liberal changes in the country's economic, social, and foreign policy.
To get a sense of the Democrats' ambitions, listen to them discuss the deficit. They spent the last eight years bemoaning the deficit, which they blamed on the Bush tax cuts. They continually lambasted the Republicans for fiscal irresponsibility. They promised to enact "pay-as-you-go" budget rules and restore accountability.
Thing is, now that power is within their grasp, the Democrats have chucked all that silly talk out the window. They can't wait to raise taxes on high-earners, dividends, capital gains, corporations, oil companies, and estates. But this tax increase is not meant to balance the budget. It's in the name of "fairness," and "patriotism," and whatever revenue it raises will quickly be spent."

Why isnt anyone making this point?
What happens when big money corporations/businesses have an increase in their costs(which includes taxes)----well the price of the services/goods goes up. Price of oil goes up; gas goes up. Tax rate for big oil goes up, price of gas goes up. Raising taxes never hurts the big boys; it always trickles down to the little guys.
Posted by: WileECoyote | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:26 PM
A point about wealth redistribution. My very wise uncle had a saying: You can take all the money in the world and divide it evenly among everyone, and in five years time, five percent of the people will control 95% of the wealth. His point: wealth redistribution always fails to achieve its purpose of social and economic equality. It sounds good and gets votes for the liberals, but even they will privately admit its a dumbass idea destined to fail.

"Why isnt anyone making this point?"
Because it makes no sense.
"What happens when big money corporations/businesses have an increase in their costs(which includes taxes)----well the price of the services/goods goes up."
For a guy who claims to be in business you do a good job of demonstrating that you nothing about business.
Prices are set by supply and demand. Not taxes. The golden rule in business is to charge as high of a price as the market will bear.
Cost has nothing to do with it.
Nothing,
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:42 PM
I disagree Harp.
"Cost has nothing to do with it". Oh really. Those businesses dont stay around long. Tell any businessman or CEO of a big company that cost doesnt matter and he will tell you to stick your supply and demand up your ass. If you dont control costs, you dont control profits. And no profit means no taxes. Or maybe Obama's plan is to tax GROSS PROFIT.......
Posted by: WileECoyote | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:49 PM
BO's plan is unclear. Probably because he keeps changing it to win the race not because it is what he really believes.
Posted by: mary | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 10:56 PM
Wile,
Quit displaying your ignorance. Of course cost have plenty to do with profits. Your point in your original post referred to prices.
Costs have nothing to do with the selling price.
What business are you in that you had such a nice year in spite of a fundamental lack of knowledge in business 101?
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 PM
Im a lawyer. A trial lawyer who supports McCain. How's that.
Posted by: WileECoyote | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:07 PM
My family is full of lawyers.
And with all due respect they aren't very good businessmen.
However, they do know that when it comes time to send a bill the amount is the most your client would be willing to pay.
Pretty simple but little understood.
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:22 PM
Your family is full of crooked lawyers then Harp---prolly democrats right?
Your bill should be what you agreed to charge for your services: if by the hour, then based on the time spent; if a contingency, then the percentage agreed to when you took the case; if a flat fee, then the fee you quoted when you took the case. Its called HONESTY Harp, something apparently your family doesnt have.......
Posted by: WileECoyote | Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:45 PM
"Your bill should be what you agreed to charge for your services"
No shit. Jackass.
And it you are any kind of businessman it should be the highest amount your client is willing to pay.

Now I am CERTAIN you are a business failure, harpist. Your posts show that you have ZERO grasp of basic financial concepts like cost, price, supply and demand...Then you accuse another poster of not understanding "business 101."
You are a snarky bastard, harpo. And a glutton for punishment. The more you post here, the more we understand the type of rascal you really are. I feel sorry for your children, having to live with an angry, insulting father who cannot provide for them.
Hurry uncle barry! Daddy's yelling at the computer again!

I've been in the trading business for 25 years and have a business degree in accounting. I am well aware of finance, cost, pricing, and supply and demand.
And it is you who is the idiotic know nothing fool.
What is the price you sell something for?
As much as you can. Has nothing to do with what you paid for it or what it cost to make.
Let's hear about your business experience and what college you dropped out of.

So full of himself, this poor sod harpo is:
"What is the price you sell something for?
As much as you can. Has nothing to do with what you paid for it or what it cost to make."
This answer tries to cover all his bets.
In the "reality-based world", as you lib turkeys claim to have invented along with Algore and the intar-nets...
...you charge what the market bears. But if your costs (including taxes in excess of deductions) are so high that you can market your products or services enough to put food on your table, then you'll soon cease to be in business.
But jharp seems to think that more money will just magically appear from somewhere (it does to an extent, but the Fed can only reduce interest rates so far, and print so much cash until the very money supply itself becomes worthless).
In more practical terms, high taxes (the sort the libs would seek to impose on us business owner types) will increase our cost of doing business, and will either shrink our profit margin, or cause us to raise prices. And when that price exceeds what the market will bear, people will no longer seek your service.
When that price becomes so steep that nobody else can remain competitive, then the entire economy for that product or service and the parts of the economy that rely upon the markets for those products/services seizes up.
Then jobs are cut back, resulting in even less productivity, and it all becomes a vicious circle.
Heh. Obviously Mr. Harpo wasn't doing business during the Carter regime, or he'd actually know what we were talking about.

"...you charge what the market bears. But if your costs (including taxes in excess of deductions) are so high that you can market your products or services enough to put food on your table, then you'll soon cease to be in business."
"can" should have been "can't".

Your comments explain your inability to earn $250k per year after 25 years in business. Price has nothing to do with cost? Ridiculous. No wonder you are a failure.

My investments are plenty fine, making out pretty well in spite of the bad markets. How about you?
You must have been quite the cut-up in school. Too bad your pappy didn't learn you any manners, manners which you're likely unable to pass on to your whelps as well, further polluting the gene pool.
Enjoy YOUR government handouts, fool.

CryptKeeper,
"My investments are plenty fine, making out pretty well in spite of the bad markets."
Well I'd hope so. The taxpayers just threw $700 billion your way.
"Enjoy YOUR government handouts, fool."
From a guy who has just been the beneficiary of the biggest corporate welfare spending in U.S. history.
There is no need for any government handouts at my house. Enjoy your wingnut welfare. It's soon to be over. And instead of handouts to worthless jackasses such as you we can spend some money on some deserving children.
Stuff like healthcare and education.

Uh, jharp, you've been bitching for quite some time here about the affordability of healthcare, and the fact that your wife had to work another job so you could have insurance. If you were such a successful businessman, I doubt you would be the least bit concerned about the cost of insurance for your family. You've bullshitting.

templar,
I'm not bullshitting. My problem is getting accepted into a health care plan because of my daughters condition.
Yes, my wife quit her consulting business and went to work in a somewhat regular job so we would have access to insurance.
Successful? I don't know how you'd define it. I am not rich by any means but I make a nice living.

Obama's universal, socialised national healthcare in its final form may be foreshadowed by what is happening in Oregon - where if a medical condition is above whatever actuarial standards they determined to be "too costly" to the state...
... the state indicates assisted suicide (euthanasia) as the only benefit they will pay for.
Kill all the Baby-boomers with health issues - that'll be the next phase of our culture war - and the Obama-aged Dems and younger will line up lockstep behind it: no better way than to get around that quirky Social Security burden than to start butchering up the over 60's crowd.
And heaven forbid they but think of extending that murderous mentality to disabled children.
Remember, the State™ will never regard your daughters as beautiful, young lives the way you do.
