I hate to say it, but there either has to be more - very much more, or this dog won't hunt. On this one I think the Right is out of step with how too many Americans think today, especially Swing voters. I hope there is more, or its hurting him enough with certain groups.
Likely voters overwhelmingly reject his effort to make an issue of Barack Obama's association with 1960s radical William Ayers. Fallout continues from McCain's pick of Sarah Palin for vice president, with 52 percent saying it weakens their confidence in his judgment. And on optimism, it's Obama by 2-1.
McCain needs to come to grips with the battle field he's on today. His current strategy is a losing course. The Ayers and Rezko attacks are silly without some smoking gun. Too many voters today had a liberal college prof that might remind them of Ayers and they don't know or care about Weathermen that aren't part of their evening news team. The people who care about those issues, and I am one, are either already voting for McCain, or sitting this one out. Also, is the fact that Chicago is corrupt really news? Hardly.

Is it Ayres or Ayers?

Ayers - lol I always do that, damn.

McCain needs to completely let go of Ayers and Rezko and maybe even Wright...
... and keep pounding on the "S" word.
SOCIALISM.
Obama will destroy this nation with a socialist agenda, along with the other 350+ socialists in Congress.
He needs to hammer on this with the same intensity, no, greater intensity than he did any other thing for the next two weeks.
Then, and only then, shall he have even the remotest chance of success.

An ABC poll with no internals displayed? Waste of time - and interesting it lines up with DNC talking points. McCain needs to hit the economy but also stuff that causes people to question O's judgement such as Ayers/Rezko. People are looking for a reason to vote against O and McCain needs to give it to them.

About Barack Hussein Obama:
Poll finds Americans reject redistribution of wealth as suggested by Barack Hussein Obama
PRINCETON, NJ -- When given a choice about how government should address the numerous
economic difficulties facing today's consumer, Americans overwhelmingly -- by 84% to
13% -- prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and
the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth
more evenly among Americans.

Barack Hussein Obama is a national security risk: a clear and present danger.

On February 27, 2007, Barack Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is "one of the
prettiest sounds on Earth." In an interview with The New York Times, Senator Obama
recited, "with a first-class [Arabic] accent," the opening lines of this Muslim prayer:
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah

It can't be McCain's only talking point (and it never was, certain quarters are merely trying to portray it that way), but it does matter. The problem as I see it is that McCain/Palin keep hitting the connection as though the significance were obvious. They need to tie it in to the inexperience meme--we know so little about who or what Obama is, he has no record we can look at, that we have to take a close look at his friends and who played important roles in his development as a public figure.
For most politicians, Ayers would be unimportant. Even I wouldn't care if there were an Ayers in Biden's background. But with Obama, what else do we have to go on?

The one aspect of this election that is causing many people to stop and think is something you already addressed and is also addressed here: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/713lugxf.asp. This issue of a fully loaded democratic congress and a chief executive of the same party. The unforeseen circumstances that this may bring to the fore become a serious issue. Not to mention, that the question needs to be asked "Senator Obama, you are planning all of these programs, how are you going to pay for them?" Already saw two economists on CNBC today who said that what the next administration does will affect whether or not the bailout bill works or doesn't work.

If a conservative were running for the GOP they'd see and paint Obama for the radical liberal he is. Given McCain's politics and his fairly atrocious campaign, he can't even figure it out - let alone make the case with his own mixed record.
What's amazing at this point is that it's as close as it is. Obama can and should be beaten, whether McCain is the guy to do it or not remains to be seen. Just like McCain over the years, his campaign is all over the map. If I hear maverick one more time, I'm going to puke.

Truly is amazing and a disgrace to our country. The whole world is aghast at the stupidity of Americans. Just remember 4 short years ago we re elected the most incompetent and dumbest President in U.S. history.
Remember the headline. "How could 58 million be so stupid".
The whole sees the right wing wing for what it is. A catastrophic failure. Unfortunately a lot of Americans are too damn dumb to see it for themselves.

America the Weak
http://www.nypost.com/seven/10202008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/america_the_weak_134398.htm
* Israel. In the Middle East, Obama's election would be read as the end of staunch US support for Israel. Backed by Syria and Iran, Hezbollah would provoke another, far-bloodier war with Israel. Lebanon would disintegrate.

It's really been a matter of character and judgment. Tolerance for lawless behavior in any leader justifies the same in his followers. Barack Obama has been unclear on this, especially as we discover his 'friends.'
Why else would his supporters think this would be okay:
Last night and today, I'm hearing of people discovering charges on their credit cards - some over $2000 - to the Obama Campaign. One Republican woman called their headquarters and they tried to talk her into making the donation rather than removing it!
Today I read that a McCain/Palin bus was hit by a .22 caliber weapon - window - no injuries and neither candidate on board. Paintballs also hit the bus. In New Mexico.
Obama has neither the character nor the judgment to lead anyone. It's the basics, folks.

This would make, ipso facto, Obama to be a Muslim.
One of the very few things that Christians and Muslims do have in common is the principle of Confession, that is to say, a scriptural proof of faith that a believer publicly confess their faith. For the Christian, this is the confession of the mouth that Jesus is Lord and Saviour:
"-----
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
-----"
(Romans 10:9-10, KJV)
Only a true Muslim can say such a prayer, and the recitation of that prayer, also called the Shahadah, is sufficient for a person to be recognized by the Ummah (community of Muslims) as one of their own.

Arabic text:
أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله
Romanization:
ʾašhadu ʾan lā ilāha illā-llāh, wa ʾašhadu ʾanna muḥammadan rasūlu-llāh
...This version constitutes an interpretation rather than a direct translation, as the words "worthy of worship" are not present in the Arabic.
A single honest recitation of the Shahadah in Arabic is all that is required for a person to become a Muslim according to most traditional schools.
In usage the two occurrences of 'ašhadu 'an (or similar) = "I testify that" are very often omitted.

Democrats and Republicans have settled the suit seeking to prevent Michigan Republicans from using foreclosure lists to challenge voters. The MDP statement on the settlement says:
"An agreement today protects the voting rights of foreclosure victims. The settlement acknowledges the existence of an illegal scheme by the Republicans to use mortgage foreclosure lists to deny foreclosure victims their right to vote."
Here's Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer on the settlement:
Today's settlement protects the voting rights of all Michigan citizens and guarantees that Republicans cannot use foreclosure lists to deny or challenge anyone's right to vote. It is no surprise the Republicans back pedaled when their illegal scheme was revealed, and their surrender today ensures that Republicans cannot take advantage of the economic crisis to deny anyone's voting rights.
I'm thinking that one of days right wingers will see the truth and feel ashamed of what they have been supporting.

No jharp... the GOP could have wiped the floor with Obama and his socialist stupidity had they selected the Hon. Dr. Ron Paul.
Of course, that would also have required a fundamentally different understanding and involvement with politics on the apart of the typical apathetic American... but had we nominated Dr. Paul... I could have GUARANTEED that Dr. Paul would enjoy a 20% or greater lead over either Obama or Hillary.
Perhaps in the next four years, a majority - however slim - will be carved out of the carcass of America that will usher in a Paleo-conservative renewal of what once made America great.

Good News! Biden Promises an International Incident to Test Obama if He's Elected, and Also Promised Obama Will Screw It Up
Joe Biden's greatest gift/curse is an apparent inability to censor himself, and he admitted yesterday that Obama's utter inexperience and lack of leadership will cause anti-American regimes to target us as a result:
"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
How ill Obama respond to this crisis? Biden is convinced that Obama is going to screw it up, and he's asking supporters to bear with him anyway before getting immediate buyer's remorse.
"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."
Good grief.
Has any Vice President in U.S. electoral history ever made it more clear that his running mate is completely unfit for the office that he seeks?
And if Biden dosn't have faith in Obama, why should the rest of us?

Mark my words. An Obama win will result in racial and class warfare within the United States, the likes of which we have not seen in 140 some years. We are moving closer to a socialist state without a liberal black president. Imagine what it will look like in two years if he wins.
Its not going to be pretty.

"--- I'm thinking that one of days right wingers will see the truth and feel ashamed of what they have been supporting.
And it is lovely to see the GOP surrender monkeys tuck tail and run and hide. ---"
This is coming from someone who undoubtedly wants to expand the base of Democratic Party clients/peons:
The Democratic Party is essentially not at all different from the near-socialist Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) which has more or less ruled Mexico for 70 out of 80 years it has existed: it is a party of plutocrats who rule with a system not substantially different than the old Dons (lords) who ruled over their peons - granting favour from on high in exchange for their continued and largely unquestioned loyalty in the way of "votes".
"Votes", which at various points were little more than a formality.
In like manner, the DP in the USA is also a party of peonage and plutocrats:
The DP wants to grant the vote to every felon, immigrant (whether illegal or legal, or naturalised or not), and even to dead people and ghouls who have long since shuffled off their mortal coil.
Why, I'd not be surprised if they tried to co-opt the vote of some dead babies savagely snuffed out, that is, murdered in cold blood by the abortionist's butcher knife 18 years ago inside their mother's wombs, if they could find a way to do so and not be caught at it.
Suffrage is a certainly a privilege and a right, within clearly defined parameters.
If anything, great pains should be taken to protect that suffrage, and to exclude those persons whose influence would certainly be injurious: namely, the destitute, the incarcerated criminal, dead people, traitors, foreigners, minor children, and perhaps and criminally immoral (sexual predators regardless of incarceration status) and mentally incapacitated persons whose disability clearly inhibits them from making an informed decision.
But to all of these and more will our Democratic-Plutocratic party extend the vote, that they would have eternal majority until the end of the Republic (which shall not slumber long, if God wills that we suffer the abject tyranny of an Obama presidency and a Congressional Democratic supermajority).

Chess, Not Checkers [Jim Manzi]
"I’ve hesitated to do this post, partly because I think excessive conservative attention gets paid to short-term political horse race issues. But here’s something practical and urgent that I think everybody on the Right — from rabid Sarah Palin fans to Andrew Sullivan — should agree on: all available resources should be diverted from the McCain campaign to a handful of close Senate races."
Ain't looking to good, I'd say.
And mary, your link about Zimbabwe is laughably, utterly, off the charts, absurd.

Almost everything McCain touches comes across as erratic. You can even paint him as a flip-flopper. Certainly the maverick slogan backfired. Mavericks, by definition are unstable an unpredictable. It also comes across as Hollywood-ish, stupid, and gimmicky.
Looks like McCain has pulled up some in national polls, but it doesn't looks like Obama has slipped since he seems to still be holding around 50. The electoral map appears unchanged for McCain, perhaps even leaning more Obama. I think leaners are committed and a few undecides are deciding. The race should close up to some extent. Some undecides will lean toward McCain, some will not.
It's a catch-22 for McCain. The race is more about GOP/Bush wrong track than anything else. McCain can't distance from Obama because in order to win, he has to be more like Obama. But, he can't do that with an 'R' next to his name. Move over to the left and lose base (recall the reaction to his mortgage scheme). If he moves to the right, he aligns more with Bush and loses the election.

I hate to dig on people personally, mainly because it isn't very civil.
But Jharp says something here that doesn't quite line up:
"--- When you work for yourself you can do whatever the hell you'd like whenever you like.
You ought to give it a try. It's a very nice life. Tues and Weds this week are golf for me.
It's the way winners live. ---"
We know from jharp's previous commentary here that he is in the import/export business, with a particular focus on Asian markets.
I know a few people who are involved with that line of work (granted, most are Taiwanese or PRC's who immigrated here sometime ago but keep connections with families and concerns in the Mainland... and it is a fairly capital-intensive line of work.
Now if we accept what jharp says on its face, he is likely a *very* wealthy individual, to be the CEO or board director (as well as outright owner), by my estimates, in the several millions to several dozen millions of dollars in gross income. On the lower side of that, if he is doing bulk distro of Chinese container ships full of furniture, he could be doing a distributed warehouse (i.e. he is a middleman with no real inventory), he's probably in the $500,000 to $1,5M range.
And as he and other trolls are fond of stating... it would seem as if he is "voting against his own interests" by supporting Obama and his message of socialism and wealth redistribution.
I have no idea what his balance sheet looks like, but given a decided slow-down in trade between Asia and the US in general, but if I might imagine myself in his place... I'd probably be a bit concerned about my business rather than trolling rightwing blogs for much of the day. In fact, I'd probably be deeply worried about the economy tanking, and about Obama's plans to savagely drain my income with higher taxes.
And unless he is independently wealthy like the Frosts (and is only doing import/export as a hobby, and isn't entirely reliant upon his business income)... then I can't really see how he has time for all of this plus golf and fishing or getting viciously hammered on cheap beer and "messing with the wingnuts" at RWV.
No, scratch that... the Frosts were well off, especially Grandpa Frost... but they weren't *stinking* rich. You'd have to be Warren Buffet rich, or Bill Gates rich, or George Soros rich, for the economic cycle and the oncoming depression not to have you wetting your pants with fear for how the retail market is going to completely be withered this season and worse beyond that.
And unless I am sorely mistaken... the demand end of the import/export business is rather dependent on people with disposable income... particularly young families and gay couples with quirky dogs looking to furnish their flats with lovely Chinese furniture: they just might grab something cheaper at IKEA instead of going for that "handcrafted" duvet from Fujian.
But, hey, I could be wrong. It has happened before, and I'm quite certain it may happen two or three more times in my life.
Anything's possible, ya know?

The GOP base speaks out

They really need to put a fence around those red states - not because we're 'afeared' of them - so they can charge admission. Priceless
lol

"His will is for McCain to win."
And when God's will elects Obama, you will surely know that Jesus Christ hates you and that you're going to hell.
That, or maybe the White Man in the Sky doesn't give a shit about American politics.
