Sarah rocked the house. Actually, I think she took the house and shoved it up the media's snout! heh
I had to look in to see what Andy had to say, him being her most deranged critic. He tried to dress it up, but inside ... he knows Biden lost. I guess he makes Ifill the "loser" because she didn't take Palin down. Actually, she did very well as a moderator, I think. The attention on her over her book probably helped.
9.23 pm. Biden is just dreadful. He speaks in Washingtonese. She just issues the soundbites and wrinkles her eyes and tells stories. And that works. The speed and chirpiness she delivers overwhelms one's ability to even quite absorb what she's saying. And it has put Biden off-stride. It's Biden who seems over-crammed.
10.30 pm. Biden's sobriety and authority and call for fundamental change is both reasonable and solid. It will resonate, I think. As you can read, I began this debate feeling that she was steam-rolling him. She was. But it was a steam-roller coming at you on fumes, not real fuel. She doesn't have it. Maybe one day she might. But not now. Biden's peroration was very, very strong. There is no contest here. There was only one loser: Gewn Ifill. She was intimidated, peripheral, neutered. The rules didn't help. But Ifill put in a dreadful performance.
Yeah, Andy has to spin it. But he knows the score. At least McCain now has a shot at coming back from where things were the last few days. But it's still up to McCain in the end.
Michelle Malkin: Sarah Rocks
Ace is celebrating and has some thoughts of what's coming next from McCain. Pass the rescue bill then hammer Obama on Fannie Mae and Feddie Mac? That makes sense. Remember, it is winning the final news cycles that matters most of all. One month out leaves time to turn things around, or for people to forget given the way information flows today.

Palin's good showing takes away the anxiety some people have that, since she is next-in-line if something happened to McCain, she's not good enough to be President.

Philip,
For some reason I enrage him. I've told him not to address me as I have no desire to "speak" to such a rude person such as he. But, it's fun to watch him get so angry, especially as the night goes on and he gets drunker and drunker.
Posted by: Lala | Friday, October 03, 2008 at 01:26 AM
I don't really care how people try to spin, Palin won. She won big.
Posted by: tally | Friday, October 03, 2008 at 01:29 AM
Biden said that the Darfur region of Sudan is in the country of Chad. Imagine if Palin has said something like that.

(Harpo, in re: Civil War stupidity)
"--- Yeah, you're right. Good one.
It was close right up until the unAmerican types lost.
You are quite funny tonight. ---"
Funny you should say that.
The Confederate States of America also had Americans residing therein.
And by most standards of measure, your typical Confederate - minus the slavery issue and plus the states rights issues - were far more patriotic Americans than your typical postmodern liberal, who wants to turn us into some socialist Eurotrash nation.
No offense to Europeans or anything - most of y'all really didn't get much say in how your governments did things.

Heh. I figure my neighbour's stupid cat that likes to poop in my petunia patch has more sense than that Harpo boy. But it sure is funny to see him get all lit up -- especially when he's wrong. :P

Another lefty showing us how much true concern they have for working class Americans.
I bet Harpo thinks he's better than the mechanic who fixes his cars because Harpo went to an elitist university.
Harpo, can you weld? Know the difference between an open end wrench and a box wrench or between a carpenter's hammer and a ball peen? Do you even know what "peen" means? Know what plastigauge is used for?
Speaking as someone in the 99th percentile, good judgment has very little to do with intelligence.

Cheese and rice, you people are so blinded by your ignorance that you might as well just end it now, because each and every one of you losers is just taking up space, and besides...it must really suck to wake up each morning and realize that all you've held to be true has been shown to be wrong time and time again.

At any rate,Seek, your comments on the old CSA were quite right. Even today our southern military men are considered quite stalwart patriots.

Palin wins by not laying an egg is about how you guys are spinning this. She didn't embarrass herself but it's clear that on the issues she was out of her depth. The easiest way to tell that was when she obfuscated and avoided answering questions altogether or simply shifted her answer to an area she felt more comfortable in such as energy or claiming to be middle class.
Here's the thing, Joe has a reported net worth of between 100,000-150k with an annual income of around 300k including that of his spouse. Sarah Palin's worth is estimated to be in the neighborhood of 1.2mil. So who's middle class?
Joe had an incredibly human moment when he was talking about his first wife and raising his two sons. Sarah thought she had sole possession of the parenthood angle but she was proven very wrong. Her folksy talk came off as an affectation more than genuine in my view.

There was zifnab. There now is jharp, jzif, harpnab, zifharp, jnab, zarphij, jarpraz, jfiz, nabharp, and pharjiz, just to mention a few.
From Wiki:
"Hickman has said that the Zifnab/Fizban/Zanfib character is like him in that they are similarly misunderstood and possessed of great depth, and so the character type continues appearing in his works with Weis.[6] On multiple occasions, Hickman has jokingly suggested that the three characters are distinctly different because they are separately owned and appear in separate series.[7][8]
"Zifnab," "Fizban," and "Zanfib" are anagrams."
Could this be our jharp, a jive a-- punk? From MySpace:

You left out a little something that the IRS should look into, 112, sample amounts that essentially may amount to uncounted income. This is brought to us by none other than a Mr. D. Riehl via American Thinker:
"AMTRAK Wilmington, DE $336 February 01, 2007 Travel
AMTRAK Wilmington, DE $399 February 02, 2007 Travel

AMTRAK Wilmington, DE $266 February 11, 2007 Travel
AMTRAK Wilmington, DE $193 February 12, 2007 Travel
Update: To be clear - this is election travel expense data. But it gives a general idea of what Biden's AMTRAK travel costs run. And some of them require some explanation - perhaps buying multiple tickets in advance on the same day?"

Fred,
Thanks for the laughs. I had seen harpo on another blog, maybe it was Patterico, he was saying the same inane comments there that he says here and he was getting hammered. Maybe he's an S&M kind of guy.
As to Biden being middle class and only having a net worth of 150,000. Doesn't net worth include the homestead?

I just took a poll down at Red State. They said Sarah Palin won the debate 142% to Biden's -15%. Gwen Ifill took 21%, but only because polls have a notorious liberal bias.
Now that Sarah just totally rocked the socks off the American public last night, I'm sure we'll be seeing a massive bounce in the McCain / Palin poll numbers. I think pollster had Obama / McCain at something like 50 - 41. Kiss that 9 point lead good-bye, Obama! Hahahaha!
Amiright? Total electoral domination, right? We should see this in the polls inside a week, right?

Nope I'm not but it's clear they have both taken full avail of the system in regards to renumeration. Palin even gets Per Diem for her kids.

The thought of Fred Beloit and John McCain on a "speed" bag is laughable. As a great detective once said - 'A man's gotta know his limitations'. How about you just put on your orthopedic shoes and take a power walk around the ole trailer encampment.

Owning a private railroad that others paid for is also a pretty good deal. But he really does need to see a financial planner.
Now Obama is smarter. He owns a huge chunk of, you know, tax-free bonds, the kind of investment he doesn't want to include in SS investments for people like you and me, 112. He doesn't believe we are smart enough to handle risk.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Friday, October 03, 2008 at 10:10 AM
Hahaha. Thanks for demonstrating you are a light bag workout, chris. That's because you only have about five things to say, and you say them over and over again. Now agent 112, as a professional propagandist, I guess, actually makes some sense at times. 112 is more like a heavy bag.

Tax-free bonds are tax-free because the money goes to support government projects. Of course Obama is smarter than you. I doubt you are smart enough to wipe your ass properly.

Posted by: Fred Beloit | Friday, October 03, 2008 at 10:34 AM
You invest in tax-free bonds because they provide a stable return and shield you tax. Dow drops 350 - doesn't matter. Flip side, Dow goes up 350 - doesn't matter.
No one invests for altruistic reasons, dipshit.

Seriously, some working men would handle their SS funds fine but what position do you think those nearing retirement age might be in had they had control of a portion of that for investment? would you be in favor of a bailout for them?
My dad is 66yrs old and was hoping to retire fully in the next few years. Unfortunately his IRAs, investments, and SS won't cover him anymore. He's lucky, he works 4 days a week in a fairly high paying HR gig. But how long will he have to continue doing that now?
