Doesn't seem like O wants to spread his own wealth around too much...

"Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat"

Good one. A stark reminder that without liberals the flat wouldn't be disabled accessible.

Maybe his half-brother could come over and move in with the Auntie.

They could all just hang around and wait for their new welfare checks to come in.

In one year he could make the same cash as it would take about 200 years to make back home.

Plenty of extra money to score some blow to party with the crackhead POTUS Xerxes!

It is unbelievable if he, as an admitted drug user, would be allowed to even be near the "football"

If you think we have an Illegal Alien problem now wait until we add the current 12 million of them here already to the "free health care" and send em a welfare check each month.

When that message gets back home there will be millions more coming over our borders in short order!

Throw in a little amnesty and the Democrats will have a grateful new base to help stay in power for decades.

PA, apparently he only wants to spread around everyone else's "wealth".

Ahhh, SacTownMan, our resident data entry clerk chimes in.

Don't you get it?

Obama's plan isn't about handouts. It's about opportunity.

Harpo you really are a tool!

As our resident "Banned One" you really need to follow your own advice and "put the bong down"

The opportunity here is for a handout. The "have nots" get a handout from the "haves", you know troll utopia!!

But hey my 20 year anniversary in my "data entry clerk" job is this Friday, Halloween!

Comes with an extra 3 days off a year and a fat little Bonus Check! I must be putting in some real good data there bro!

That's too bad that after 20 years your time off is still decided by the higher ups.

I went to work for myself 25 years ago and take time off whenever I choose and how often I choose. You ought to try it.

Either way, good luck entering that data.

"Good one. A stark reminder that without liberals the flat wouldn't be disabled accessible."

yes. it may have very well taken liberals, who knows, but the one liberal I can guarantee who wasn't responsible for barack's aunt, was barack obama. I understand now why he wants govt to do everything for everyone...he doesn't want to personally responsible and help his extended family.

I'm sure he'd be glad to help anyone else though.

Sure, Cindy's sister tell her sad story from her condo over looking the golf course while Obama's relatives (here and in Africa) live in squalor. He should walk the walk and spread his wealth.

Even the story says it's not so clear if he knows they are here.

Just like your "report" about him only visiting his grandmother for an hour...(turns out he saw her daily) the story has holes.

What I find interesting is that the woman, though handicapped, finds to to volunteer. How very "Obama" of her.

Wait, I have an idea. Maybe McCain can donate them one of his houses!

Spartan, it was the press, BO's press, that saw fit to say that he only saw her for an hour, both times. Don't you think if he had seen her for a longer period of time that the press would have proudly proclaimed this fact from the rafters?

nina, the NYT's saw fit to publish yet another cindy mccain story to add to the plethora. The nation knows, at this point, more than it ever needed or wanted to know about cindy mccain.

I read in a Norwegian newspaper that 45% of all American families earn less than $40.000. (http://www.bt.no/utenriks/usavalget/article620763.ece)
Is that true?

It also says that on average men on average work 100 hour more today than what they did in the 70’s and women work 200 hours more. Is that true?

It further states that 52% of the people have less than one week paid vacation, and that 25% has no paid vacation at all. Is this true?

In a comparison the paper explains that more than 1/3 of all families in the US earns less than the minimum pension in Norway. I can not believe this?

Where is the freedom, in having low income and no vacation?

Is not the US the land of freedom?

Actually Mary even the story Dan linked didn't say what he claimed. He latched onto a line that said he visited for an hour the day they arrived. He then made the leap that that was the only time during the trip that they visited. Another press report that someone linked here the other day noted that he visited daily on that trip.

"--- Doesn't seem like O wants to spread his own wealth around too much... ---"

Nope. He sure doesn't.

But like any good socialist, he will jump through hoops to take YOUR money and spread it around to all sorts of people, "deserving" or otherwise.

"---
Where is the freedom, in having low income and no vacation?

Is not the US the land of freedom?
---"

And welcome back "Bruno", after so long a hiatus.

Norway can only afford its socialism because she sits on a jackpot of natural resources.

That, and a declining birthrate, rather irritatingly cold weather, and excessively militant group of Islamist hoodlums who rape and murder you lot in your own homeland... that alone would offset whatever material benefits that may come from the oil-drenched deposits along your nation's coasts.

That Quisling chap must have had a great influence far beyond the grave, for the men whose stock include such bold men as Lief Ericsson or his fellow Vikings to cower back in fear whilst the Arab and the Indo-Asians ravish your fine flaxen-haired maidens, no?)

harpo, calling harpo. There is a message for you from the AP of all places (Now they get objective. A little late isn't it?)

"WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

Obama's assertion that "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don't work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are—beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn't tell them:

THE SPIN: "That's why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs for the typical family by $2,500 a year."

THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by $2,500, or any set amount. Obama hopes that by spending $50 billion over five years on electronic medical records and by improving access to proven disease management programs, among other steps, consumers will end up saving money. He uses an optimistic analysis to suggest cost reductions in national health care spending could amount to the equivalent of $2,500 for a family of four. Many economists are skeptical those savings can be achieved, but even if they are, it's not a certainty that every dollar would be passed on to consumers in the form of lower premiums."

spartan, what bothers me is how come the wife and kids don't go to visit her too? Usually grand mothers love to see their grand children, the grand children are what they live for. I just don't get it.

Dear Mr. Laksevaag:
Norway is a paradise on earth. The United States is full of mean bosses and slave labor. That is why the rest of the world wants to immigrate to Norway and no one wants to move to the U.S.
You obviously have better newspapers than we have as well. Norway's papers tell the stark truth. Ours hide the truth so that Obama can be elected. Sure hope you don't have such wild-eyed leftists running for leader of Norway.
Best wishes,
Fred

Mary you don't think it was possible that he went to visit her alone on the first day and then brought them back to see her on other days? Of course you don't because that wouldn't fit the negative image you are trying to paint of this man.

If you want to talk about character in personal relationships you might want to take a closer look at Sen. McCain. The way he dumped his first wife after her accident fits into your definition of a true family man I'm sure.

See, Mary, Obama likes to hide his human side. He is very shy and doesn't want anyone to know how much he loves his grammy. So he obscures the fact that he and the wife and kiddies are spending many an hour with her. Have I got it just about right, 112?

Spartan, people on television have said that he didn't take his wife and kids to see her at all. This last trip, he went alone.

As I've said to you before. John McCain's first wife, if she was full of anger and malice, would have long ago ruined him. She hasn't done that. She probably could have made a mint selling her story, she hasn't done that. Instead she raised her kids with him and all the kids from both marriages seem to be quite close. He and his first wife handled the situation like adults with respect for one another. You are trying to make an issue out of this just like you dems make an issue out of every time Sarah Palin brushes her teeth.

--I went to work for myself 25 years ago and take time off whenever I choose and how often I choose.

And you STILL don't make $250k per year! Maybe you should "put the bong down" and log off the blogs and support your wife and family. Don't count on uncle barry's handouts...

I am not trying to paint a negative image of the man. I am discussing the facts as they are put forth in the media.

As I've told you before, I'm still undecided. I know you can't believe that and some attack me for it, but, I suspect that I won't decided until the very last minute. There is a lot of information out there and I want to make sure that I consider everything.

BTW, the guy is an odd duck. He doesn't react to his relatives the way the rest of america does. The other day some guy in texas bought some woman's house at auction and gave it back to her. The guy and the woman, until the guy bought the house, were strangers. In the face of stuff like this BO, comes off as being an elitist snob. I'm beginning to think he has made it and is ashamed that he has poor and struggling average Americans as relatives. MO's lobster and Iranian caviar dinners don't do anything to change that thought.

Dear Bruno,

You shouldn't believe everything you read in newspapers.

SacTownMan, don't you get it? Obama represents the opportunity for the lazy and shiftless to get their hands on your money. Simple as that.

Dear Mr. Laksevaag:
You see here we have an example of what your newspaper was talking about. Mr. jharp wrote this as quoted by ET:
"I went to work for myself 25 years ago and take time off whenever I choose and how often I choose."
Mr. jharp it seems is one of those mean bosses I mentioned. He takes all kinds of time off to fish, play golf, and nurse his hangovers. His poor employees are stuck in his vast sweatshops slaving away over the slag heaps.
Warmest regards,
Fred

I just saw the commercial from ACORN that suggest that John McCain is preventing black americans from voting.

The first time I saw that commercial I was with a mixed race group. We all laughed at that commercial. Everyone one in the room thought it was a stupid bogus commercial. I seriously think that is not what the campaign wants to convey, they want to make black americans angry and make them feel they are marginalized. It isn't working cause they aren't angry and they aren't marginalized. The little mixed race group in the bar is a snapshot of america and they laughed at that commerical with more gusto than they laughed at SNL. The BO campaign has a real disconnect with americans, particularly middle class black americans.

"Spartan, people on television have said that he didn't take his wife and kids to see her at all. This last trip, he went alone."

Really? Which people? People misrepresenting the same info Dan did.

And what do you mean he doesn't react to his relatives in the same way normal people do? What evidence do you have of that? All you have is the "evidence" of commentators who rarely tell the whole story. One minute you don't believe anything the press says because it's positive about him and the next you believe everything because it's negative or paints him as secretive or different. Mary, the last thing you are is undecided, you're just a schill.

"His poor employees are stuck in his vast sweatshops slaving over the slag heaps."

With no paid health insurance or retirement for his employees as well, Bruno. They have to get medical treatment at the expense of the taxpayer. Shameful!

You angry clowns need to pace yourselves. 4 years of an Obama presidency AT LEAST to bitch and cry and moan. Slow and steady, bitter clingers, slow and steady.

Agent112, from whence are you broadcasting now, in class, monitoring the halls, or in the faculty lounge? Just curious, hope you don't mind.

Spartan, I am undecided. I have given money to BO and not McCain and that is verifiable. Spartan, it is my opinion, my observations. I watch a lot of media, read a lot, personally observe a lot. I have emailed the campaign to let them know that this is what I see.

People think you know, they just don't believe what is fed to them and what the campaigns think they should believe based on the feedings.

There are a lot of things I don't like about McCain. Sarah Palin is his saving grace.

Mary, you yourself said it was an ACORN ad, how does that prove a "disconnect" with Americans? Besides, since he's so "disconnected, particularly with middle class black americans" (btw Mary, both America and Black should be capitalized in that sentence, why do you hate America?) how come he's dominating McCain in that demographic?

Settle down there, chris. No one is angry, or at least I'm not. I'm having fun, so shut up and leave me alone. Uh oh, that last phrase did sound a little angry. Forgive me, chris.

Agent112, from whence are you broadcasting now, in class, monitoring the halls, or in the faculty lounge? Just curious, hope you don't mind.

Free period, I hope that's ok with you Fred.

Sarah Palin is his saving grace.

Oh Mary...this tells me everything I need to know about you.

Spart's right to be so suspicious of stories we read or see on the tele. They report that Obama is running for President. Oh sure I see and read about him making speeches and stuff. But has anyone here actually seen his application to become President? Seeing is believing.

Spartan112 might be the sockpuppet of jharp. He and jharp use some of the same phrases. Why do you do that, Spartan112, unless you are the sockpuppet of jharp? Curious.

Dear Mr. Laksevaag:
I may have given you a bum steer in my response to your question about American workers. Things may not be so tough for them after all. As you can see Mr. Spartan112 is employed and he gets free periods during his workday.
With many a thought for your well being, yours,
Fred

Actually it doesn't. It doesn't really tell you anything.

We're the same person Temp. Just like you and Seek.

Actually it doesn't. It doesn't really tell you anything.

Posted by: mary | Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10:45 AM

Yes it does.

I don't know, Temp, Agent112 seems smarter. Harpo seems more, um, persistent, stubborn, hard-headed, you know, like that. He just keeps repeating the same old, worn-out Dem chants.

After the post above by 112, Temp, I take it back.

Oh gosh, I'm touched Fred...now keep your hands to yourself.

"Oh gosh, I'm touched Fred...now keep your hands to yourself."

Say Temp, men don't say keep your hands to yourself, do they? That is a woman's expression. Men are more likely to say hands off, don't you think?

One thing it shows me Fred is that she values charm/folksiness over substance/intellect. That's her right, I just have a different set of values in that regard.

She has already expressed a willingness to believe almost anything negative about Obama, and her opinion of Gov. Palin seems to go hand in hand with that. She likes the attack dog and feels no pity for the attacked. Again, that's her right...wait, let me Palinize this post... ;-)

Spartan, you're dumb as a rock. I don't have the scriptural knowledge that seek does, nor do I interject religion into my discussions. And I'm not nearly as learned as seek. But thanks for the compliment.

Ok, angry guy - I'll leave you alone. haha.

You'll have to forgive me Fred. I'm a big flaming queer, does that change your opinion of me?
