A co worker just played Rush Linbaugh talking about what redistribution actually is. The entire floor came to listen. Basically, first they take your stuff and then they redistribute it. That is the part that drew audible gasps.

Goodness Mary, who's manning the drive thru?

"I assume it's satire."

I suggest you read the piece first, which you obviously didn't.

"By this point, you either think I am joking or are calling me an elitist. I assure you I am neither. OK, maybe a little of both. But it wasn't always like this. I come from the Coal Belt, from that Alabamian hinterland between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, as per James Carville's famous formulation.

I am, in fact, just two generations out of the coal mines that blackened the lungs of my grandfather, leaving him disabled, despondent and, finally, dead at the ripe old age of 54.

So, understand that I am saying all this for the good of the country and, in fact, for the good of those hard-working white people that Hillary used to pander to."

Email of the Day: Reaganomics is a totally failed policy

I loved your recap of the McCain interview with Brokaw. Just wanted to point out that not only did Reagan raise taxes during a recession, but Bill Clinton raised taxes in 1993 a year after his election. We were mired in the worst

We're not talking about BUSH here, we are discussing OBAMA. Can't any of you democrats STAY ON TASK OR POINT or must you always pull the "Bush and race cards?" It's like talking to brick walls only less fun!

Dolphins owner wants to sell before Obama raises capital gains tax; 'I'd rather give it to charity than to him'...

from drudge, and they think business isn't listening.

Here some more. Lala and ET.

Our socialist VP candidate.

"But more importantly, as Ryan Powers noted, there's the irony of Palin making these ridiculous attacks.

Just last month, in an interview with Philip Gourevitch of the New Yorker, Palin explained the windfall profits tax that she imposed on the oil industry in Alaska as a mechanism for ensuring that Alaskans "share in the wealth" generated by oil companies. [...]

In fact, Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) program, which manages the redistribution of oil wealth in Alaska, brings in so much money that the state needs no income or sales tax. In addition, this year ACES will provide every Alaskan with a check for an estimated $3,200.

As Hendrick Hertzberg notes, "Perhaps there is some meaningful distinction between spreading the wealth and sharing it ... but finding it would require the analytic skills of Karl the Marxist."

I realize that even McCain, Palin, and Fox News don't take this "socialism" nonsense seriously, and that this is just rhetoric borne of desperation. McCain has always struggled with new ideas and a changing world, so it stands to reason he'd rely on a red scare as his closing argument.

But the truth is, Sarah Palin's Alaska is about as close to socialism as America gets. As Yglesias recently noted, "You have collective ownership of valuable natural resources that generates lots of revenue for the state, and then the government makes 'spreading the wealth around' through the Permanent Fund, etc. its main priority."

Hey Mary, the funny part is both Drudge and Fox are misrepresenting what Obama said. Ultimately he states that the Civil Rights Movement was TOO reliant on the courts and should have been pounding the pavement and taking care of business themselves. That's the thing that kills me about some people here, if you'd actually read what Obama has really said about personal responsibility (specifically in regards to African Americans) you'd probably be pretty pleased. Why else would Jackson have wanted to "cut off his balls"?

I'm much more worried about idiots like this and saying Obama's "not like us" plays into racist crap:

Federal agents have broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree, the ATF said Monday.

In court records unsealed Monday, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads.

“look at that 4 year senator who wants to change the constitution."

Late to the party here. The discussion has wandered from away from the post topic.
But

We are upset today because Obama points out [rightly] that the Supreme Court has stayed away from “economic equality” issues, but has addressed “personal equality” issues.

And the problem with pointing this out is?

Is this something you disagree with? Has he got his facts wrong?

"Oh, wait...your a liberal..."
Try “Oh, wait...you’re a liberal...”

From Wiki

he Alaska Permanent Fund is a constitutionally established fund, managed by a semi-independent corporation, established by Alaska in 1976. Shortly after the oil from Alaska’s North Slope began flowing to market through the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, the Permanent Fund was created by an amendment to the constitution of the U.S. state of Alaska to be an investment for at least 25% of proceeds from some minerals [such as oil and gas] sale or royalties. The Fund does not include either property taxes on oil company property nor income tax from oil corporations, so the minimum 25% deposit is closer to 11% if those sources were also considered. The Alaska Permanent Fund sets aside a certain share of oil revenues to continue benefiting current and all future generations of Alaskans. Many citizens also believed that the legislature too quickly and too inefficiently spent the $900 million bonus the state got in 1969 after leasing out the oil fields. This belief spurred a desire to put some oil revenues out of direct political control.

"We will all need to tighten our belts" (from speech by "Dear Leader")

Hey, jharp & other trolls:

Define: "We."
Define: "will"
Define: "all"
Define: "need"
Define: "to"
Define: "tighten"
Define: "our"
Define: "belts"

Here's some help: When Obama said "we" and "all, do you think he was referring to, oh say, Bruce Springsteen or any of his super-rich contributors in Hollywood? Something tells me The Boss is already quietly talking to his tax people "just in case, y'know, Obama might actually be serious about taxing the s*** out of me." Word on the street has it that Billy Joel is now in an "Offshore State of Mind."

By the way, ever seen Bruce Springsteen's house in Rumson NJ? Let's put it this way: Brucie's walk-in closets are probably bigger than your living room. Check out the cars in the driveway: those ain't KIAs.

What Obama wants to do is nothing more than to award Reparations to the blacks in this country in diguise (socialist refunds)?

Hey LaLa its been a while since Harpo has blessed us with his "cut and paste" thought process hasn't it?

He still won't provide a link to a original author, just like Botox Joe, the #3 plagiarist of all time!

Keep it up Harpo maybe you'll make the list yet!
