The un-renowned Kathleen Parker writes a fairly worthless and absolutely catty column about Sarah Palin: Something About Palin.
Note to Kathleen Parker: Before you go off like that again, you might want to change your Buckley School photo (at right) to something other than one that says, "Hey, I'm getting older but I'd still love to meet some young would be journalists out of Harvard who love to f/ck!"
Or perhaps that glasses sliding down the nose Charlie Gibson look is now a little more befitting your stature assuming you've put on a little weight?
Come on, from reading the bit of her work I have, it isn't as if this babe would have the career she does if it wasn't for a certain come hither look. Insight is a wonderful thing, too bad Kathleen Parker doesn't seem to have any at all.

Late one evening I wish Kathleen would get to meet some of those Obama supporters from down in the projects "who love to f/ck". I mean, come on Kathleen, you are the one wanting to empower the poor. You should quit discriminating. Shame on you, only wanting the lily-white and high-yellow Harvard boys.

I'd hit it...with a 2X4.

Lol, the un-renowned Dan Reihl referring to a published columnist as un-renowned...jealous much?

This was a bizarre column. And she continues to milk the Palin hate. She should have just shut up after the first strike. I mean, she's already been on Colbert. She needs to stop while she's ahead.
On a more serious note - I can't believe how shallow these supposed Republicans are that they would endorse and vote for Obama as president just because they have a beef with who's the VP on the Republican side. It makes no sense.

Spunker112, do you communicate with we earthlings directly from the classroom or the faculty lounge?

Well, Bilby, I console myself with the thought that is only the few, the bedraggled, and the loud, who are the center of this dubious meme.

What's the difference between Parker and Palin - long story short, both are where they are on looks. Parker has more in the brains department maybe. I usually like her columns, and I think she is not out of line to guess at why McCain chose Palin.
As far as the $1500 goes for clothes for Palin, that does not bother me at all. Probably Cindy sent someone out to pick up some basic stuff, and the stores that were shopped would be the ones she herself would frequent.
Would people have been happier is she chose WalMart or KMart?? That would be ridiculous.

So, we can conclude that you feel comfortable with Palin's being one heartbeat away from the Presidency??

I wonder if she is having coffe with Peggy Noonan.

Beefer and the frog in her pocket, surmise:
"So, we can conclude that you feel comfortable with Palin's being one heartbeat away from the Presidency??"
Speaking just for me, Beefer, I would prefer Palin to Obama for President. I don't feel people who want to take my assets and give them to those who voted for them should be President. Sorry to hear you do.

A gift of the money of others to those I deem to be in need is theft.

"What's the difference between Parker and Palin - long story short, both are where they are on looks."
Palin is doing an excellent job as Governor of Alaska, by any objective standard. That she is also good looking is only a plus. As for Parker? There is no substance to her, judging by that nasty little article. Parker is emotionally stuck in eighth grade. (Johnny and Sarah, sitin' in a tree.)
"Parker has more in the brains department maybe."
We'd need an autopsy on Parker to confirm she has a brain. Palin has proven that she functions at a high level.
I am particular impressed with how Palin is holding up under a relentless, mean spirited and concerted daily attack on her and her family. I have never seen a public figure get this amount of wide spread, hate filled venom. Leona Helmsley (sp?) and Emelda Marcos (sp?) were treated gently in comparison. Hillary showed signs of strain when subjected to only a small fraction of the bad press. Yet Palin gets stronger day by day. I am amazed at her toughness. Her resilience under intense media pressure shows that she is more suited to be President than anyone who ran for the office from either party this year.
The left sees that in her too. That is why they are desperate to destroy her.

Well geez Dan, et al., at least you don't seem bitter or anything.
It's interesting that Parker criticizes Palin on a substantive issue, i.e., the hypocrisy of selling yourself as a plain 'ol hockey mom struggling with the hubby to make ends meet while at the same time she's shopping at Saks and Neimans, and Dan decides to project onto Parker that she's just jealous because she possesses a "come hither look."
Seriously, WTF?
Oh and Fred, do you deem the money of others who donated to the McCain-Palin campaign that's been funneled toward her $150,000 clothing budget, "theft" or "charity"?

Yes, George, we on "the left" are so desperate to destroy Palin, along with our long-time comrades Colin Powell, Christopher Buckley, Peggy Noonan, Scott McClellan, David Frum, David Brooks, Bill Kristol, Ross Douthat, Rod Dreher, George Will, Charles Krauthammer, Chuck Hagel, Bernard Goldberg, and, yes, Kathleen Parker.
Just to name those brave enough to voice the truth in public, of course.
Posted by: sugarbiscuit | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 12:30 PM
biscui, you should read this by Claudia Rosset at Pajamas Media. A sample:
"So, in this campaign of many shockers, we now have the New York Times headline: “$150,000 wardrobe for Palin May Alter Tailor-Made Image.”
I guess that if reporters wish to pursue this rich vein of inquiry, there’s a whole series of investigative stories waiting to be written on the sartorial side of politics. It’s certainly more entertaining than digging into curious real estate deals, unreleased school transcripts, radical associates and millions dispensed in troubling ways (see this latest from my colleague, Andy McCarthy, on Obama’s “Social Justice” education expert)."

our legal system is based on using a jury of peers...
what is parker's qualification to consider herself a 'peer' of Palin?
this is like a high school economics teacher trying to explain to the class that he is superior in business to Dave Thomas, becuase he has a college degree.

Well jeepers, Fred, thanks for proving what a deep and logical thinker you are. I can see why you're a fan of this ridiculous blog.
Honestly, you're comparing Ms. Obama to Ms. Palin? When did Michelle stump around the country talking about how salt-of-the-earth she and her family is and then proceed to go and splurge $150k of donated money on clothes? Why can't you just address the actual issue brought up by Parker and myself without resorting to "look, over there, it's a scarrry Obama!"?
Nice dodge as well on the legit question about campaign donations. You seem to feel that the government taking your money via taxes to fund services for the vast majority of Americans is "theft" but when the McCain-Palin campaign spends money on fancy clothes that was donated to them by people who believe earnestly in small-town conservatism, that's "charity"?
Palin is just another hollow idealogue, espousing what her base wants to hear in order to advance herself rather than any coherent policy. I think deep down you know that and that's why you're so bitter.
Posted by: sugarbiscuit | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 12:46 PM
biscui, did you say Charles Krauthammer? Did you? Thanks:
"October 24, 2008
McCain for President
By Charles Krauthammer
WASHINGTON -- Contrarian that I am, I'm voting for John McCain. I'm not talking about bucking the polls or the media consensus that it's over before it's over. I'm talking about bucking the rush of wet-fingered conservatives leaping to Barack Obama before they're left out in the cold without a single state dinner for the next four years."
Read all of it. It's good:

Fred - I was referring to Krauthammer's opinion on Palin. Try and pay attention, okay?
You can read Chuck's view on the cynicism driving the Palin pick for VP here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/04/AR2008090402845.html
The fact that Krauthammer would still vote for the McCain-Palin ticket after having written that is only evidence of how deep the vein of hackery runs within.
Posted by: sugarbiscuit | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 12:53 PM
Fred: note the opening line of the article you freaking cited too:
"Contrarian that I am, I'm voting for John McCain."
Again, thanks for the depth and logic. So nice to have a sparring partner that a 10 year old could outmaneuver.
Posted by: sugarbiscuit | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Why does Ms. Parker dye her roots brown? A walking advert for this election, perhaps, or the tell-tale signs of her roots?
Posted by: Jake | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 01:03 PM
Fred, One of Krauthammer's best. ....standing awthart the republicans who are jumping ship so they don't lose out on a state dinner.. Brilliant.
Posted by: Jake | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 01:07 PM
I didn't read the article, didn't want to give her the satisfaction. this is just great and wonderful news. There are so many anti palin articles today it is amazing. As any woman knows, when they start whispering, they are hearing you but when they start shouting well then, then you got em. All these articles on Palin prove only one thing....she is highly effective. You go girl!!!!!
Posted by: mary | Friday, October 24, 2008 at 01:17 PM
What am I going to do when this election is over? Assuming Obama wins (Which I'd say is about 50-50), I'm gonna watch the conservative circular firing squad. Schadenfreude goes great with popcorn!

Oh, and all of this talk of liberal women versus conservative women...
Conservative women are fine looking...Elizabeth Hasslebeck will join Sarah Palin at a campaign rally this weekend. Niiice!
On the other side...hillary and michelle, both pulling serious trailers and physically repulsive to any normal male. blecchh!
just one more reason it sucks to be a liberal.

Kathleen wants a Washington insider to be John McCain's running mate but McCain needs a vice president candidate who can reach out with the common people , who can really identify with them and who had a deep understanding on what makes them tick and who can speak for them in Washington . Kathleen Parker had forgotten about that because for her real candidates are those that came out of the political system and who had connections to everybody . Kathleen's principles are tied to her political wants and not to what the American people wants and her intelligence had nothing to do with it .

From now on, every time I hear a man criticize Barack Obama over his qualifications for being president, I am just going to accuse him of being "jealous."
When do you graduate from high school, Dan?

"Very little comment in the msm abour Obama's plan to spend $2 million on his coronation."
Actually, $2 million is chicken feed on the scale of federal government events, or even corporate ones. But I know that among many other cognitive deficits, you right wingers have difficulty with numbers. What are you going to come up with next, that Biden left a lousy tip at a Starbucks, once?
Haven't dropped in on Riehl's sewer in quite some time, but it's amusing to see that you dead-enders are even MORE rabid and delusional than I remembered. It's a little like watching a dubbed version of 'Downfall'. As you continue to march toward the 1932-style political stomping that your gang so richly deserves, has it ever occurred to you that to people who are sane, your antics are simply repellent and scary?
But don't let me stop you, please please please tell me more about Ms. Palin's 'qualifications'. It's hilarious!
Posted by: sglover | Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 08:25 PM
Will,
So McCain could not find anyone who could relate with us commoners that wasn't a pathological liar or had at least a little interest in current events?

Sarah Palin is so stupid she asserts that dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time.
