I really don't like polls that much but I think this is interesting

Zogby

"I have alluded before to this strange, magnetic pull that brings Obama down to 48% or 49%, a danger zone for him. McCain's gains are among white voters, where he now leads by 12 points, and with men, where he again has a healthy lead. There is still a lot of campaign to go. A lot of campaign to go." - John Zogby

I have to try to find the article I read the other day claiming that Obama's way of speaking is somehow hypnotic.

When Obama speaks he says maybe 10 words in a normal cadence, then he pauses and says the last three or four fast and on a downbeat. Then he purses his lips.

An Examination of Obama’s
Use of Hidden Hypnosis
Techniques in His Speeches
THE EVIDENCE IS HERE: This document contains over 60 pages of evidence
and analysis proving Barack Obama’s use of a little-known and highly deceptive
and manipulative form of “hack” hypnosis on millions of unaware Americans,
and reveals what only a few psychologists and hypnosis/NLP experts know

I don't think the election will be a referendum for McCain. Rather I think Palin affects some votes and I think the rest of it will be a referendum against Obama and a totally Democrat government.

I agree 100 %. You have to be a closet person in this election and say nothing til November 4th. That will be the deciding factor. HOPE IS STILL THERE.
It aint over til the fat lady sings.

On another note. I found this to interesting. Check out the video as well.
Finally someone has the balls to ask the right questions. Biden sure did nto like it either.

http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2008/10/obama-campaign-cuts-off-wftv-because.html

Joe Biden and the Barack Obama campaign didn't like the fact they were not thrown 'softball' questions, by WFTV, in a recent interview with Joe Biden, so they canceled the following interview with Jill Biden and do not plan on allowing WFTV any more interviews.

WFTV-Channel 9's Barbara West conducted a satellite interview with Sen. Joe Biden on Thursday. A friend says it's some of the best entertainment he's seen recently. What do you think?

On what planet?

NBC News projects Obama clinch
By MIKE ALLEN 10/24/08 7:45 PM EDT
The Politico

NBC News, which keeps the most widely followed of the media electoral-college estimates, on Friday night said it is moving the closely watched battlegrounds of Virginia and Colorado to “lean Obama,” putting its estimate for the Democratic nominee over the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

Politico’s 2008 Swing State Map, based on Real Clear Politics polling averages, gives Obama an even wider electoral-vote margin over McCain, 375 to 163.

Former Bush strategist Karl Rove, on Rove.com, has his tally at 306 for Obama to 171 for McCain, with 61 tossups.

"Have you ever seen a political party win an election when so many of its members, prominent and not, are voting for the other side?"

No, I haven't. Wait... you were talking about Colin Powell, weren't you?

I liked the questions. However, now the station has been told they're cut off from any more interviews and the dingbats are flooding them with nasty emails, etc.

Also, Karl Rove has a well-known liberal bias. He's even liberaller than Katie Couric. Might be gay, too.

I think the mistake of obama campaign is the cbs infomerical.

I don't see much of an upside to a taped program...

this is the problem, a speech is given in front of an audience which actually part of the obama appeal. He is going into a format that is not necessarily his proven forte.

Here is the benchmark: ratings. If he fails to draw 40 million, it actually is bad news. Considering that there were 39 million democrats who voted off year in 06, 40 million would represent this group alone, and not the 'wave' of new supporters being peddled in the media. I'm being extremely kind in the 40 million number, as there would probably be a 3to1, 4 to 1 ratio of dems to republicans. Not everybody is going to like what they see.

Thursday morning, if the ratings come in, and he is below 20 million viewers, Drudge sirens will be blaring. 60 million viewers and you might as well not even show up to vote for mccain.

My over/under is around 30 million.

Why roll the dice, when you are sitting on what democrats believe to be an insurmountable lead? this is dumber then buying land next to rezko on the same day, having him sell some of it to you, and having rezko turnaround an sell it again immediately after.

The pollsters are int he tank with the MSM. They are making all these calls for one purpose and one purpose only. They do not want McCain voters going to the polls on November 4th. They want you to think that your vote want count and you will be just wasting your time. Don't you get it. Surely, you do.
It has happened in the past as well.
Wake up people and go vote on November 4th. Don't let the media fool you. That is their whole purpose.
Have you ever read the questions they ask potention voters when they do their polls ? I have. They don't just ask who are you voting for. It is BS.
Research and learn.
Please vote on November 4th. Thanks !

next time you hear a conservative bashing palin, the numbers you need to know...

what is their income?

200k or more, and they are speaking for less than 3% of the population.
They are not making it easy for me to argue against them having their income taxes raised.

This rule would exclude Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Ingraham, Bill Bennett and many other gasbags from speaking against Obama.

Slow Joe would pull him down if he had a brain. If Hussein O is elected Slow Joe won't live six months. He'll be out of the way and a radical put in his place.

lala-

looked into zogby state by state(interesting):

his state polls are a lot closer than you would think
(I share you skepticism about his numbers so I can say that I would not find his numbers as gospel, it beats tearing a bird open and reading its entrails)

http://www.zogby.com/50state/

he has it at 273-174...
he's including VA towards bo total.

here are his numbers(listed (mccain/obama)margin +=mccain/-=obama, rcp state avg.
VA-46.1/49.7 -3.6 -7.0
NM-45.5/46.1 -.6 -8.4

his toss ups?
NV-51.5/44.0 +6.5 -3.3
CO-48.2/47.9 +.3 -6.5
MO-48.3/48.0 +.3 -2.7
OH-49.3/46.5 +2.8 -6.1
FL-45.2/48.8 -3.6 -2.2
NC-46.5/49.6 -3.1 -1.0
NH-46.2/46.5 -.3 -8.2

his national poll has been sitting as one the largest outliers that favors obama, and his state polls are uncharacteristicly favorable realtive to the other polls? (most polls were updated 10/21 so there is a four day lag)

nobody nows how to poll this race.

Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Ingraham, Bill Bennett...

would gladly lay claim to four of the above, but O'Reilly?

the guy has no idea what he is talking about. The other four actually care about the gop, bill is out for number one (and a any girl who likes to louffa.)

Regardless of what the noble intelligentsia likes to orate the facts are that the PUMA factor is intentionally ignored and the wildcard Palin voter isn't yet plugged into the polling machine.

So while PUMAs are purposefully messing up the polling numbers and Palin voters are not yet known, the noble intelligentsia have twisted their tiny brains into believing the race is over before the votes have been cast.

"you were talking about Colin Powell, weren't you?"

I am delighted that Powell endorsed Obama, this means that the Democratic Party will never get the chance to Impeach Bush.

Thanks Powell and Obama for twarting the only thing which matters to Democrat voters.

Love this!! Rich, delightful, and quite tasty.

It is of course, Lala, possible that Obama has been schooled in Dr. Erickson’s technique or some other technique and is using it to manipulate people. On the other hand, most charismatic speakers have instinctively come to the realization of methods for swaying crowds. Without drawing parallels between Obama and Hitler, consider how effective Hitler was in captivating almost the entire German population – leading a people who had produced some of the greatest thinkers, artists and composers in the history of Western Civilization down a path of ruin, destruction and unspeakable cruelty and horror.
Demagogues rise up and take control when conditions are ripe for them to exploit. The economic condition and the collapse of the Weimar Republic in Germany in 1933 gave the Nazis and Hitler the opportunity to seize power. Remember, Hitler was first elected before becoming absolute dictator. To paraphrase Camus who spoke of the plague always being with us and always ready to emerge anew when conditions are right, the same can be said of demagogues.

Steve J

Your work here is done. Please move on to another Conservative website.

Thanks comrade, there's a bigger bowl of mush awaiting you.

Central Command

Was Hitler that charismatic or was it cultural, i.e., Germans are rule followers (they don't cross the street when the light is red, ever) who are lost without a leader? I've watched film of Hitler speaking and it just seemed to me that he was a screeching nut. I don't speak German so I had no idea of what he was saying.

Yupp. Them there librul pollster-types sure are in the tank for teh Hussein . Looky here.

http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/102208_poll.pdf

The SURGE has worked!! Victory is yours, patriots!! Complete the Mission!!!

Well, if you don't understand the language perhaps you will understand the actions behind the words, that 'screeching nut' employed youthgroup goons and thugs to go out on the streets terrorizing and 'getting in their faces' the innocent civilians who simply dissented against Dear Hitler, the One the Goons Heiled.

Sound familiar perchance?

Syn,
Oh yes, I definitely see the similarities.

With a Hostile Media there was very little McCain or even Hillary could have done. Joe Biden made one of the worst GAFFES. No the WORST GAFFE in VP Debate History whwn he misquoted Article 1 and said it placed a VP in the Exec Branch. Worse than spelling it POTATOE. Where is the media??

Good observation, Lala. Probably both. It is true that Germany had an autocratic background – the Kaiser and before him the various State leaders, but Hitler was able to play on that, striking the right chords and probably instinctively knowing that the German people would respond. They were looking for a leader to bring them out of the humiliation of the lost war and to rebuild their economy. (As an aside, imagine how much easier it would be for the Democrats if they had successfully derailed our war in Iraq…and Afghanistan.) However, Hitler’s speeches have a certain inner logic and almost mesmerizing quality to them. To us it sounds like some sort of maniacal screeching. To the Germans it was touching something in their inner core.

Folks,

Go to Zogby's site and look at his ridiculous tracking chart. 5 or 6 days ago, he was taking the "bungee jump" (his phrase), and predicting a landslide for Soetoro, and now he's covering his @ss by showing McCain making incredible gains in the space of a day or two.

What I think is happening is these pollsters are buying the Soetoro propaganda of massive historic turnout.

$150 Mil buys a lot of loyalty.

For the demagogue and his followers any opposition or questioning is unacceptable dissent and needs to be suppressed. This is done out of fear; fear that the opposition represents a threat to the demagogue’s plans and indeed very existence in obtaining and holding power. There is also an element of fear that the opposition might be right. The stifling of dissent can be seen in several stages: attempts to discredit the messenger, attempts to verbally or physically silence the dissent and attempts to bring ‘legal’ maneuvering to bear to outlaw the dissent. Where ever you see dissent being stifled you can be sure there is a fearful demagogue and his followers behind it whether it be in Tiananmen Square in China, Caracas, Venezuela or Orlando, Florida.

The liberal biased MSM has to be destroyed; I just read another fallacy that says Pres. Bush's approval rating is down to 27%. How can this be true when most of America loves his policies and the results of his almost eight years of brilliant government management (except for the stuff Congress made him do!)
I am quite concerned about the mis-reporting of the stock market indices. I know for a fact that the S&P average has gained 10% from the beginning of the year, but even Fox news is reporting the last close nearly 25% below reality.
Of course, the victories in Iraq and Afghanistan have gotten no reporting at all (it is curious that many conservative media outlets have yet to report this.) I am concerned they may have been infiltrated by the liberals.

If the MSM reported just the facts, McCain would win easily.

I agree that fear is the biggest motivator, but when it is used over and over again, it loses its power. The economic strength of this country is based on a strong middle class. When it is hurting, we are all hurting. The Obama campaign is bringing hope to many who haven't had it for a long time. You see it in the passion of the volunteers. You do not see it in the McCain campaign. When one talks about getting the message out and stifling the dissent, he is not talking about the Dems, he is talking about ANYBODY who is running for public office. This is politics. There has easily been as much or more on the right than the left. We can continue to discredit those who cross party lines with innuendo, or we can get over it, because the truth is that for most of us, our lives are NOT as good as they were 8 years ago. All the vehement anger that is being created today will only make it more difficult to eliminate the polarization that we will have to eliminate to move forward.

Thanks for keeping hope alive, Dan!

I really think there's something to the Obama hypno-effect. I think that he and a bunch of psychos on the political left are employing a strange magical spell that is causing us fine Americans to believe that he's a gifted speaker with a competent running mate, real ideas, and a calm, presidential demeanor, when actually it's McCain and Palin who possess these talents. In reality, Obama has been running around the country, flailing, lying, race-bating, changing his positions (sometimes within the hour)and proposing terrible doom and gloom if McCain is elected.

OBAMA IS IN YOUR BRAIN, AND ROBBING YOUR SOUL! GET YOURSELVES A BLACK CAT BONE AND HIRE A GYPSY WOMAN TO REVERSE OBAMA'S MOJO HEX. DO IT NOW!

"All the vehement anger that is being created today will only make it more difficult to eliminate the polarization that we will have to eliminate to move forward."

With an O win, the polarization will only get worse. When you watch "access hollywood" you notice that to them, there is only one presidential candidate. Propaganda is spread everywhere.

I read Mark Levin's article and, to me, he sounds like he is one of many, many people in the world who are just plain afraid of change of any kind -- only he is also trying to convince the rest of us to be afraid.

Yes, I tend to be on the Blue side of the fence, however, after doing much research, I have always voted for the candidate I felt was the best person for the job -- regardless of Party. Slowly, but surely, I think (and pray) that more and more people are choosing their candidates the same way -- rather than as in generations past when people voted strictly Republican or Democrat based solely on their family's historic beliefs.

Now, the saying goes, "if it's not broke, don't fix it." I don't believe that there is a single American who honestly thinks that Washington is not broken. The big question is, of course, of the choices we have, who will do the best job of fixing it?

This is no average, typical election. Here we have a 72-yr. old man who spent 22 years in the Navy and 26 years in Congress (House and Senate combined). Note that he graduated from the Naval Academy ranked 894th out of 899 students. Based on these careers, the McCain campaign claims that he, and only he, has the experience necessary to be POTUS. In 2004 the Republican Party labelled John Kerry a flip-flopper, but they have totally ignored the fact that, in 2000, John McCain disagreed with Bush 100% on almost every issue in the campaign -- including condemning the smear tactics Bush's campaign used, which tactics he now employs -- provided by the same personnel. Since then, he has voted with Bush literally 90% of the time. We are also well aware of the Senator's bouts with cancer.

Then we have Sarah Palin. The "maverick" pick of a female VP. What in the world was McCain thinking? That she would pick up the votes of the few women who would blindly vote for any female, the Joe Six-Packs who are impressed with her use of phrases like "you betcha," and, of course, satisfying the far right (which McCain surely does not). Is that the image the country wants to project -- a Vice President who speaks like a 16 yr. old high school student??? Will she walk into a meeting with Putin and say to him.....is it okay if I call you Vladie? The campaign touts her executive experience and calls her a "maverick" reformer and tax cutter. As Mayor of Wasilla, most of the actual work of running the city was turned over to an administrator whom she hired. She campaigned in Wasilla as a "fiscal conservative." During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. In 2006 she was elected Gov. of Alaska, population 670,000. A report came out finding that she abused her power in the Troopergate scandal -- and after watching her contradicting her own running mate publicly on some issues, i.e., pulling out of Michigan, Rev. Wright, even the robocalls, as well as listening to her definition of the job of the VP and her desire to expand the job of the VP, I have no doubt that she would make it to the top of the class of power abusers. Some say that the Couric interview was packed with "gotcha questions." Every one of those questions is a question that a potential VP should be able to answer. Folks, close your eyes for a minute and picture waking up one day during the next four years to see Sarah Palin being sworn in as POTUS. If you think the U.S. has lost much of its respect in the world now, the day she is sworn in the U.S. becomes a full fledged laughingstock. G-d help us.

Then there is Barack Obama. The first Black Presidential nominee. Obama earned a BA in Political Science from Columbia University, he graduated, magna cum laude, in the top 10% of his class at Harvard Law School, and was elected the first Black President of the Harvard Law Review. As we all know, he worked as a community organizer, was a Senator in the Illinois Legislature and, of course, he is now a U.S. Senator. But according to the Red side of the fence, he does not have the experience to be POTUS. According to Senator McCain (who just reiterated this on Meet the Press this morning), Sarah Palin has more experience and is more qualified to be POTUS than Senators Obama and Biden combined. Will someone please tell me, if this is correct, what experience does Senator McCain have that puts him in a different category? Being a pilot and POW in the Navy certainly does not qualify someone to be POTUS, and according to McCain's own words, being a Senator does not qualify someone for the job.

And last, but not least, is Joe Biden. Senator Biden graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965, and from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1968. Also, since 1991, he has been an adjunct professor at the Widener University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on Constitutional Law. Remember the Constitution? It is something that has been ignored for the most part for the last 8 years. Joe Biden has been a U.S. Senator for 36 years -- and has been heavily involved in foreign policy. But, again, according to Senator McCain, being a Senator does not provide the kind of experience necessary to be POTUS. Has Senator McCain looked in a mirror lately? I just don't understand what all of this experience is that McCain keeps saying he has that separates him from the other two Senators. However, Joe Biden does have one problem -- he speaks his own mind and has lived with the consequences. Joe Biden has taken over the Straight Talk Express that McCain abandoned after the 2000 primaries, when he, instead, jumped on the Bush No Thought Express.

There is also built into this attempt to scare the country away from "change," the horrible prospect of the Democrats running the White House while simultaneously controlling both Houses of Congress. The Republicans have been talking about the lack of checks and balances. Do any of you recall the first six years of the Bush Presidency? Remind me -- didn't the Republicans have full control? Why wasn't there a problem with the missing checks and balances then?

After living through the last 8 years, and watching McCain turn into a "non-maverick," base kissing politician, I truly find it impossible to believe that anyone out there with any common sense honestly thinks that things will get better -- or change even a little bit -- under a John McCain Presidency.

Hey, Peg,
Once again you make the incredible mistake of equating scholastic credentials with character. You have obviously mistaken a degree, and "magna cum laude" with CHARACTER. CHARACTER COUNTS!!!!! Say that to yourself over and over again, and you may eventually come to the realization that both McCain and Palin have more character in their little pinkies than Biden and Obama have combined in their entire bodies. In fact, America in general seems to have forgotten that we built our nation on CHARACTER, not "academic credentials." You may want to read the story of the "4.0" kid who decided to blow up his high school, but was caught in time before he succeeded. Instead of decrying the obvious lack of character he displayed, his parents asked the police, "Will this arrest affect his chances of getting into a good college?" Get the point? Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who displays an affinity for associating with people who HATE our country (ie. Ayers, Wright, ACORN, etc, not to mention leaders of self-declared America-hating nations) will never get my vote no matter how "intelligent" they are. Hitler was "intelligent" too. One other thing....Not all change is good. Take Germany, for instance....

VerityG,

sounds like you and I are on the same page. Like i said above, I think it's some psycho thing Obama's doing, perhaps with a voodoo chicken bone that's causing so many good Republican's to abandon ship. Even I, a weary and wise Republican nearly fell for his spell when I saw him in the debates with McCain appearing to be the better informed and wiser man. It even appeared to me that Obama displayed better character in debating McCain on the issues instead of bringing up people from McCain's past, such as Charles Keating. It also appeared that he didn't even want to get down in the mud with Sarah Palin even though many alleges of power abuse were fresh in the news. We all know that none of what we saw with our own eyes is true and therefore, Obama who attends some weird Africa church and in his heart hates America, even though we have no hard proof of what we know is true. What I have done is to hang the carcass of a mutilated chicken in my doorway attached to a note saying "NOBAMA". This I hope will keep out the evil spirits that were making me believe that Obama is a man of character. I strongly suggest you do the same.

Verity you've made the assumption that folksy=character.

"What I think is happening is these pollsters are buying the Soetoro propaganda of massive historic turnout."

Ace, I early voted (for McCain) here in Texas yesterday. Regarding your comments about Obama's team's hope for a massive historic turnout, I would have to say -- and I am only speaking anecdotally -- that it indeed appears that that just may be happening. I have lived in Texas for over 10 years, and I vote in almost every election. Moreover, I EARLY vote in virtually every election. Normally, early voting places here in San Antonio are virtually empty, with the poll-workers sometimes outnumbering the pathetically small number of voters on hand at any one time. I can tell you that, with my own eyes, I have seen two early voting places here in San Antonio fairly OVERFLOWING with voters for the past week -- that is, with lines of voters that extend outside the buildings.

I only can pray that at least 51% of these "new" or "occasional" voters are going to place their votes for McCain -- and that is entirely possible, of course. But this is not a normal election by any means. I am actually hoping for a massive "backlash" by white and Hispanic voters of moderate to conservative leanings to come out for McCain, as I pretty well expect 97% or so of black voters to cast their votes for Obama. By "backlash" I mean a reaction to the non-stop MSM indoctrination program telling us to vote for Obama. At a certain point, if there is still freedom of choice, this kind of unstintingly annoying media input is bound to produce a certain amount of healthy rebellion, as in, "like HELL I am going to vote for Obama,...!"

Let's just admit it... the race is over. Obama won. There seems to be a concensus that Obama is the better man, and Palin is supremely unqualified. Even a McCain aid said that he had never seen a Vp pick know so little about the issues. Imagine if Jefferson and Washington could be alive to see Palin. I agree, I was leaning towards McCain until I realized she is going to give women a bad reputation.

"There seems to be a concensus that Obama is the better man, and Palin is supremely unqualified."

There seems to be a concensus that Obama is not running against Palin; which makes the commenter highly unqualified in general.

Personally, as a woman I find Palin's ability to live a full and complete life without the need for victimhood laws created by new agey feminists who desperately need ways to prop up their weak and hapless sisterhood.

In a world full of plastic, fantastic dopey dolls, I find Sarah's Womanhood inspirational.

The extensive broadening of John McCain’s presidential popularity.

Is it Obamalies or Lies Obama tells?
http://www.nextgenerationcorp.com/NextGenBlog/?p=73

Michelle obama up to 2 months ago hated the United States and alqida terrorists wants Obama to win.
Does anyone know who the O'bamas really are. I know who knows them WILLIAM AYERS REV WRIGHT TONY REZKO. Should we ask more.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

you conservatives make me laugh. you have nothing on obama so you make up that he isn't a citizen, so dumb. that was an obvious lie, so now he IS HYPNOTIZING PEOPLE!!!!!!!???? LOL.

you shouldn't be allowed to vote if you are going on issues even the National Enquirer would reject

ps. I heard Obama is actually an alien ... a muslim alien

Actually Al-Qaeda endorsed McCain. Otherwise they would have nothing to fight against.

It's amusing to read the comments of wingnuts in denial. The pollsters are in the tank for Obama, the MSM is in the tank for Obama...blah blah blah.....well here's some news for you: the electorate is in the tank for Obama, too. The hatred of George W. Bush in this country is so intense that the GOP is going to be swept from office in a massive, embarrassing landslide. With Bush at a 23% approval rating, it's inevitable and the only travesty is he won't be impeached. I suspect Bush is going to really need his Secret Service detail after he leaves office. Hopefully, this will give the GOP pause to consider how their party almost entirely appeals to wingnuts, neocons and crazy evangelicals. The bad taste of the Republican Party will linger for a good long time, too. That's how inept and corrupt the Bush Administration has been. John McCain has done nothing to distance himself from George W. Bush simply because it's impossible to do so. John McCain is a Bush clone, voting 90% of the time with Bush. He runs a mean-spirited, negative campaign because he has no good ideas to run on.

The polls are correct and will be borne out by a huge Obama victory, replete with victories in states that have voted Republican for generations.

And, the thread comparing Obama to Hitler is reprehensible. Not surprising to me, because it's part and parcel with the way McCain has run his campaign that Republicans on this website would post such vicious garbage.

I'm not a hockey mom and he is not joe sixpack. I don't get to go shopping with 150,000 dollars of some one elses money. If Sara Palin is so middle class, where did she get the money to run for governor? She really upsets me parading around with her special needs child like he is a prize for some contest she won. As for maccain, I think his mental process is failing. He reminds me of hte old man down the street, the one who needs a care taker because he can't remember today what he said or did yesterday. I don't trust a man who says this today and that tommorrow. If his tax plan is enacted the middle class like me will be non existing. Our country will become a thrid world . I'm not saying that obama is the right choice, but what chioce do we have? bad or worse? thanks for letting me voice my view.

Is McCain's hero status based on the fact that he was shot down in Vietnam? Was he shot down or did he simply crash? Did McCain really crash an airplane into an aircraft carrier early in his miltary career? Was McCain really number five from the bottom in his class at the Naval academy? If so how did he qualify for flight training?

wow, the democratic talk are now getting down right vicious. You guys are now trying to re write history.

This however, is the most heinous comment I've heard since Palin was chosen as VP: "She really upsets me parading around with her special needs child like he is a prize for some contest she won." Judy, you couldn't possibly be a woman because if you were, you would never have said something so anti woman and child.
