Like Allah at Hot Air and others, I saw the 38 million Palin viewers number up on Drudge and thought she had just fallen short of hitting Obama's number. But now the AP is reporting a more complete total viewership for Palin versus Obama. Despite her being on four less networks:
After days of intense media coverage about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's qualifications, more than 40 million Americans tuned in Wednesday to see for themselves what they thought of her.
The huge audience for Palin's acceptance speech rivaled that for Obama's address at the Democratic National Convention six days earlier, and set a tough standard for the top of her own ticket. John McCain was to accept the GOP presidential nomination on Thursday.
It also states that two-million more women than men watched Palin.
Nearly 2 million more women were watching Palin than men, Nielsen said.
That explains why, as noted by Patterico, Obawon has now decided to hide behind a few skirts.
Male Presidential Candidate Uses Female Gender for Cynical Partisan Benefit

The trolls just keep trying to spin like a top on Palin but they can't stop the 40 million folks that saw her speech. Without the "tingle in the leg", "Mr Bush" or MSM pundits able to say a word during the entire length of her speech. The liberal left just had to sit there and drop their jaws at what was unleashed on their unsuspecting hateful little minds.
This was masterfull political theater played out. First the announcement of Palin right after the Temple of Doom speech by Barry. Strike one! Find anybody not a dedicated troll minion that could repeat a single quote from Barry 24 hours later! Then soon after the MSM and Koz crowd starts their onslaught the Campaign lets out on a Monday holiday the story of the daughter. Then followed by the teen fiance at the speech and on stage after words. By now the people have had about 72 hours of watching the MSM stories be absolutely in the tank for Barry. The left thinks with the mind of a MTV generation rock video junkie but they forget about the people that can actually think for themselves. There are more than 51% of Americans that think the media is out to get Palin.
So now we come to that little ass whopping she delivered little Barry. Now all of those 40 million that watched can contrast what the MSM and troll central are trying to shove down our throats about palin. It is like stirring up a hornets nest with the republican base. Women are going to go out and recruit other women and have the extra incentive after watching both Hillary and now Palin be the victims of sexism from the left and the MSM
McCain just picked up his public funding check from uncle sam so I don't think money is going to be a problem. Now that Barry's really starting to show those Chicago political machine roots the irony is the whole hopey, changey thing is going to be coming from the other party that just happened to out maneuver 'the One's" handlers over and over. Strike three, yooouurrr out!
Now the "game is afoot" and Soros is one pissed of billionaire right now, after all the "we own this party" guy is the owner of a sinking ship!

I think that comes out as 41.1 Palin to 42.4 Obama when you include the PBS figures for both, so she didn't beat him. With 4 fewer networks, it's still good though.

i hate to be pedantic, but that's "four fewer networks...
which networks?

And this tells us what exactly? That millions of Americans tuned in to hear Obama give a historic speech full of substance on the issues on the anniversary of another historic speech. Then they tuned in to hear someone they had never heard of give a historic (first GOP female VP nominee-the Dems had the first one YEARS ago) speech full of lies, and name calling. The polls will tell us which candidate made the best impression on the country.
Posted by: Cara | Friday, September 05, 2008 at 07:10 AM
Dear Cars,
Whoa buddy, "lies...and name calling" in Sarah Palin's speech? Mind giving us a few specifics on that. What part of repeating Obama's own words ain't true?
As for Geraldine Ferraro, sure she was the first VP nominee...but she never had anywhere the impact of Sarah Palin, n'est-ce pas?
Meanwhile, deep in her underground lair, Hillary is now moaning, "I coulda been a contendah. I coulda BEEN somebody."
Posted by: MarkJ | Friday, September 05, 2008 at 08:08 AM
Anyone who thinks Obama's speech was full of details on his policies has already drank the kool-aid.
I think Palin should have been a little bit less divisive in her comments and speak more positiively about the GOP and less negatively about Obama, but this is a class example of MSM liberal bias backfiring.
The media made numerous mistakes. They thought the right would want to dump her because of her daughter's situation, a total misread of the conservative mindset. Then they convinced themselves that if they beat her up enough she might have to resign from the ticket...total madness. They didn't realize that all this negative media frenzy was going to accomplish exactly what it did: Huge ratings for her speech.
There weren't any more "lies" in her speech than in any other politician' speech unless you really believe Obama is going to end depedence on foreign oil in 10 years. That is a lie worthy of George Bush unless he really IS a closet communist who is going to confiscate American's cars and start cutting power at night.

She got god numbers because we were trying to figure out who the heck she is...now when does she go on Meet The Press?

You trolls never give up, do you Sparty? Oh, what a celebration I am going to have in November when you get your asses kicked. I'm heading for Washington, D.C. for the celebration, and to see my son. Nothing could be finer.

Gov. Palin wears skirts not pantsuits. After she and her family move in the VP mansion in DC in Jan.2009 and we get used to seeing a good looking smart woman in skirts maybe other American females well start shopping for some skirts and get rid of those awful pantsuits. Gov. Pain is a woman with brains and style and is a stone cold babe. I wuv Sarah. She is the anti Hillary. The female non Hillary. So goodbye to those ugly pantsuits on women and say hello to some short skirts again!
Palin is an amazing woman. Watch other lefties Sarah Barracuda is coming to get you. DC is in for another Reaganesque overhauling.
Posted by: joeb | Friday, September 05, 2008 at 10:58 AM
I believe the four networks covering Obama but not Palin were TVOne, BET, Telemundo, and Univision. Not totally sure about the last one though, and too lazy to go look it up. Quite sure about the other three though.
Posted by: filbert | Friday, September 05, 2008 at 10:58 AM
The above should read "Watch out lefties Sarah Barracuda is coming to get you. I really am loving that the choice of this remarkable woman with more experience than Barry is driving the Dims crazy. They have been aced and they know it. Go McCain/Palin!

Whou should she go on Meet the Press, she already knows how the media feels about her, where is it said that in order to run for public office you have to subject yourself to hostile and humiliating interviews with reporters?
She's going to say she's taking her candidacy directly to the American people, cutting out the middle man. And the more the media complains about her not talking to them, the worse and more partisan they will look.
Check and check mate.

Hey Sockie. Always good to see the links to those beacons of truth the AP along with their buddies at McClatchy and Rueters. I guess daily Koz would have been a little over the top even for you.
Good thing the MSM is out there to show us the truth. You know like reporting pulling babies out of bombed out buildings in Lebanon. Or how about that ambulance with the rusted roof attacked by those evil jews missles that only blow up a little. And their picture taking is legendary. Their use of photoshop helps keep Adobe in business.
The problem is no matter how hard they slant their stories a little truth seems to sneak in.
"sweet crude fell $2.23 to $105.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange."
That's a little lower than Chenney wanted to let it go for but hey when you control the world's oil market from the White House you have to throw out some crumbs every now and then!
Allah Akbar Bro!

Sarah Palin did a bang-up job in delivery of the speech. She is cute and perky and I have not made up my mind about super-smart or simply savy, Either way, she has impressed a lot of people. I agree that she and Hillary are certainly different, and if it were a contest between the two, I for one would vote for Palin. But it is not, it is between Obama and McCain. I really liked what McCain had to say last night BUT I am sorry that he only began to say these things after he was looking so poorly in the polls. The man has been in the Senate for what - 26 years? - but at any rate, I certainly do not recall his being the champion of other than Bush policies which for sure were not friendly toward middle Americans. Being an unaffiliated voter, I waver on this election but I have in the final analysis (at least today) decided that McCain has changed his spots only to win the election, and I am terrified of four more years of the same. Palin looses some of my admiration due to her willingess to take the Polar Bear off of the protected list. And, I am fairly surprised that she is for drilling in Alaska. Still on the fence, but leaning toward the dems as of this AM.

Which makes you wonder why Obama has 300 foreign policy advisers. 300? BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Meanwhile Biden is jumping up and down and stamping his little foot, screaming "Hey, over here, what about me"?

Moron, lefty, clown to name a few today. What a group of intellectuals! I am sure McCain & Palin are proud of the red-neck, low intelligence supporters who post such crap. What is wrong with usual common, decent English to make your points? Or do you just not know what I am talking about? Do you guys (I am making an assumption here I know) conduct yourselves in such a classless manner in your real lives where people actually can see your faces and know who, and what you are? I bet not. Right Wing Idiots.

befair,,,you're kidding right? Comon, you can't SERIOUSLY be cracking on name calling and less than sweet prose. Unless of course you're off your meds....blind maybe and someone is reading to you? That would explain your total 'apparent' agreeance with the tripe that such eloquence as posted by chrissy and Boobindabasement and sparticuss. Hell chrissy is actually wishing harm to other people for santanas sake!! Ya wanna talk about classless??? Really, it's a joke in poor taste and invites people to make really sick comments about you.......

Hey, Willie, where in the heck have you been? You've been missed. The trolls have been having a field day, all over the interwebs posting for Xerxes, making ridiculous statements about Palin, and being bad. I see you put a smackdown on one yourself. Nice job.

I only post with referemce to myself, the subject at hand, and in answer to people who put me down. Never had any dealings with chrissy & Boodindabasement or any of the others.
Nobody wants to believe me that I am simply a person who happened on these conversations who does not like either candidate particularly. I am mystified why some on here go so darned overboard in reactions to posts.
Now for you, Temper, I doubt that you and I could have a decent, civil conversation without your insulting me. Could be wrong but-----

"Hey, Willie, where in the heck have you been?"
TK, It's tourist season on the coast and I've been taking money from yankees who want to go fishing. Hanna has put a quash on that and is expected in my backyard in the wee hours tomorrow. Not much to get excited about but I will be busy playing river keeper for a few days next week. I hope Obie lets me keep that "cost of fuel" tax deduction for my "community service".
Now BEEFER; If you have an argument with poster X, then you have a right to call X an ass. However, it is not appropriate to call Y & Z an ass for their mere association with X......and you did.

Willie - didn't call anyone an ass.
Was called Moron from "justoneman" Lefty and clown from Temper - and just on this thread. My general post about Willie was not made to anyone who was innocent of name calling. I am sorry if in this case you took it personally.
