Dan, I read that the bracelet was given to Obama at his stop in Green Bay (last week or the week before) by a woman from Merrill, Wisconsin. I remember that detail because I grew up in Wisconsin.

This is hot stuff - Pelosi calls Republicans unpatriotic for not showing up to the meeting they were invited to -

"read it here first :

The new head of Fortis entered the Belgian gov's offices with a visible document that was photographed by the reporters, and so the plan was published by the Belgian press blogs even if it's not yet out.

That new CEO Fortis hired yesterday starts in true wheeling!

"The plan calls for the Treasury Department to buy deeply distressed mortgage-backed securities and other bad debts held by banks and other investors"

They must think we are stupid. "other investors", does that mean "foreign governments" and very wealthy people?"

Sally,
That's funny that you have it as last week because I found this -

"We're here because of the mother I met in Green Bay, Wisconsin, who gave me this bracelet that I'm wearing," Obama said then. "Inscribed on it is the name of her son Ryan. Next to his name it says...'All gave some but he gave all.' We are here because it is time to ask ourselves as a nation if we are serving Ryan and his compatriots and all our young brave men and women as well as they are serving us. They need us to end this war and bring them home and give them the care and the benefits that they deserve."

Ryan Jopek was 20, a member of the Wisconsin National Guard like his father. He deployed to Iraq in 2005, was killed there in 2006.

In February 2008, Ryan's mother Tracy and his sister Jessica traveled to Green Bay and waited in the cold for 45 minutes to give Obama her son's bracelet. A campaign staffer arranged it so they could meet him.

"I didn't get to say what I wanted to say. I just cried," Tracy Jopek told the newspaper. "It wasn't for anything but for him to know this is real, something he needed to know. . . I do believe (the war) needs to end, but I believe it needs to be done very carefully and very thoughtfully."

"Tracy Jopek of Merrill told The Associated Press on Sunday she was honored that he remembered Sgt. Ryan David Jopek, who was killed in 2006 by a roadside bomb"

So, did Obama wear it from February until now and forgot the name?

Lala, how could he forget the name?

This morning on Fox & Friends - Gibbs is an Obama guy

Steve explained the bracelet incident and then said that the mom asked the campaign not to mention it. Here's a brief version of the exchange:

Gibbs--That's not true. She asked that he wear it in memory of her son and Barack has done it every day since. She didn't want the memory of her son to be politicized but if you read the AP story, she was ecstatic that her son was part of a presidential debate. Barack never forgets any of the parents he meets...blah, blah...

Steve then persists with--She said she asked that he not do it.

Gibbs--No, you guys need to get your story straight, get your facts checked and I'll help you out. (he then repeats how Barry respected her son's memory)

Brian--But if he respected that, Robert, the story has gone back three or four times that's why it's clouded. And if you believe the last version it's this one.

Gibbs--No, it's not clouded, it's crystal clear.

Brian--It's a war situation and the husband did not want it mentioned.

Gibbs--I'm not going to get involved in a family divorce situation...we respect the wishes of Mary...if you guys are going to ask questions, let's get the facts right before you start making stuff up on the news.

Brian--Don't say we're making stuff up! We're telling you quotes from both parents.

Steve (the diplomat)--Robert is setting the record straight.

Gibbs--You're making stuff up.

Brian--No, we're NOT making stuff up, we're telling you about a family and what they said.

Gibbs--Give me your email and I'll send you the AP article.

Brian--I got 20 articles about it as well!

Brian is fuming...Steve shrugs his shoulders and Gretchen is quiet. The body language is verrrrrrry telling on the Friends--they are mad!

BTW - the above synopsis is not mine - it's from freerepublic.com - but I saw the show myself and I could see how angry the F&F people were.
