A new study out suggests Obama may have a problem winning the White House because of his race. Seems that too many danged Democrats just don't like black people. I can hardly wait to hear Kanye West of George Bush doesn't like black people fame weigh in.
Here's a thought - were Obama conservative to Right-leaning, I'd vote for a guy like that in a minute and I suspect many other Right-siders would, too. In my opinion, were a Colin Powell or a Condaleezza Rice slightly more to the Right and able to appeal to values voters, they'd have strong backing from Right-side voters throughout much of the land, despite some existing stereotypes propagated by the media.
Unlike Obama, they've actually accomplished something relatively significant in their lives through hard work and not just talked a good game to get ahead.
Lots of Republicans harbor prejudices, too, but the survey found they weren't voting against Obama because of his race. Most Republicans wouldn't vote for any Democrat for president — white, black or brown.
More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can't win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don't have such views.

Done.

THE RACISM RED HERRING ...
If Obama can get Americans to base the election on racism,
then it will take their attention off the fact that he has no experience,
no credentials, and no issues.

I concur with Rick. Whoever becomes president is inheriting a nightmare and will be a one-term president. I don't know why Obama wants the position, but since he does, I will vote for him because he's the only one that has the potential to help all americans. McCain's only claim to fame is being a POW. He's too much of a hot head. I'm afraid of him. He reminds me of the Gene Hackman character in Crimson Tide, arrogant, self-serving, etc. Obama is Denzel Washington. Cool, Calm collected, educated and evaluates all the options and possibilities.
The Republican women in Florida who are boycotting Oprah because of her refusal to interview Palin know darn well if Sarah Palin was a Black Republican or Democratic woman with the same background and baggage, they would not support her. Unfortunately, this campaign is all about gender and race. Women who vote for a candidate because of their gender are no better than a racist. Racism is alive and well and always will be. However, if we took all of the candiates perosnal info: education, experience, standing on the issues and were allowed to select a candidate without seeing thier face and name until after the election, in other words, no campaigning, do you think McCain would actually have a chance? Some Republicans say they would vote for Colin Powell. Most whites say that because he isn't running, and it's fashionable. If tested,, they would find another reason not to vote for him. Any white man who runs against a person of color, regardless of their credentials, reputation, beliefs or party affiliation, has a much greater chance of winning than if he ran against another white male.
