ObaPelosi: Not Ready To Lead

I recently mentioned Obama's need to play politics on the current financial crisis during the recent debate while McCain remained above it. It makes it fairly clear Obama is not ready to lead America at large.

Now comes Pelosi's speech in which she did the very same thing Obama did right before the crucial vote. They'd both rather play politics while the American economy hangs in the balance. And for that, they should politically hang.

Neither Pelosi, nor Obama are ready to lead America. That's just a fact.

Can you believe that this hag is #3 in line for POTUS?

More BDS ranting when we need bi-partisan effort to get something done.

The worst congress in history is her only legacy. Her, Harry, Dodd, Frank, Barry and Biden, what a clusterfu**!

I can hear it now...if this package doesnt work.."Bush lied, he tricked us....blah...blah...blah.."

The dems have politicized this crisis the same way they did the Iraq war...putting their own shallow political interests above those of their country when times get tough. Note the attempt to submarine McCain by announcing a pre-deal "deal". Then the attempt to slip slush money for ACORN into the bill. Now Pelosi queers the deal by laying blame everywhere except where it belongs...with the Democrats (especially Frank and Dodd).

Brilliant!

Forget anger over executive pay. I say we hang these asshats from the highest tree. No wonder this democratic congress has the lowest approval ratings ever.

40% of democrats voted against it.
33% of Republicans voted for it.

Nobama

So House Republicans didn't like Nancy's speech, got mad, and voted the bailout down. Sounds like a temper tantrum to me. If they didn't like the bill - and there are plenty of reasons not to - at least stand up and say you voted against it for the good of the country - not because you were offended by some speech.

Yeah, if it doesn't works it's another "failed Bush policy", if it works then the Obamessiah saved with the help of San Fran Nan. I'm glad it went down in flames.

I guess a lot of Democrats didn't like Pelosi's speech either.

Whoops: "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and his top aides took credit for building a winning bailout coalition – hours before the vote failed and stocks tanked."

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/14088.html

Worst Poster Ever: Your party leadership exposed itself to the world today as unfit to lead. I wouldn't buy a used car from Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, et al. You have to be an ignorant and useless troll to be a democrat today...you are proof of that.

Wait. I don't get it.

Did House Republican's bail out of the bill because they're a bunch of whiny pussies throwing a temper tantrum at the mean liberals or did they bail out as a sign of fiscal responsibility?

"I guess a lot of Democrats didn't like Pelosi's speech either."

wrong!!! Lala only the republican votes are counted. See, it's a rule the dems demanded when the reps were the majority. Only minority votes count.....makes it easier for partisans to whine about an outcome.

To quote a Democrat president when Democrats still had fuzz on their peaches:

It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes. Distinctions in society will always exist under every just government. Equality of talents, of education, or of wealth can not be produced by human institutions. In the full enjoyment of the gifts of Heaven and the fruits of superior industry, economy, and virtue, every man is equally entitled to protection by law; but when the laws undertake to add to these natural and just advantages artificial distinctions, to grant titles, gratuities, and exclusive privileges, to make the rich richer and the potent more powerful, the humble members of society -- the farmers, mechanics, and laborers -- who have neither the time nor the means of securing like favors to themselves, have a right to complain of the injustice of their Government. There are no necessary evils in government. Its evils exist only in its abuses. If it would confine itself to equal protection, and, as Heaven does its rains, shower its favors alike on the high and the low, the rich and the poor, it would be an unqualified blessing. In the act before me there seems to be a wide and unnecessary departure from these just principles.

Andrew Jackson

This whole crisis was precipitated by foolish investments by allegedly supersmart people who made vast fortunes while also being megasupporters of the Democratic party who rahrahed their stupidity. What is revolting is the ease with which those with power aim at using it to prop up the folly of their friends with the peoples's money. No "get out of jail free" cards to these paper fortune plutocrats.

"Did House Republican's bail out of the bill because they're a bunch of whiny pussies...."

No silly rabbit. They figured that if almmost 1/2 of the dems thought the bill sucked, they should jump on board...because demonrats are so much smarter and all......geeze you people want to lead...until it's time to step up front and do it.

Republicans has less votes than they said they did...less than Boehner promised...less than McCain's leadership was supposed to get.

John McCain swooped into D.C. promising these votes as a marker of his mavericky awesomeness and he failed. Democrats provided the votes they said they would, Republicans didn't.

Now, in a time of crisis, we're supposed to believe they'd let the economy melt down because their feelings were hurt???? Bullshit.

Still confused jaime. This bailout was Bush's idea and the only people affected are the evil rich.As they should, 40% of dems voted to soak the rich so they could blame the repugnicans and get votes. SO what's your real problem?

jaime? jaime? Bueller? Hmmm didn't answer my querstion.....she mustve been ordered back to the bat cave for instructions from the big giant head.

It is so funny to see poor fat america going bankrupt. That dumb cunt Sarah Paln can see Russia though. What a dumb cunt.

Tico, while you're contemplating 'poor fat america' going bankrupt and insulting one of our governors, just be happy you're in Costa Rica [I presume from your handle] and not where some of us good old southern boys can get our hands on you.

Does anyone here actually believe that

Nancy Pelosi is a great American?

Or... Raise your hand if you believe Pelosi HATES the Republican party MORE than she loves America.

"--- So House Republicans didn't like Nancy's speech, got mad, and voted the bailout down ---"

I think The Hon. Dr. Ron Paul and several hundred thousand very angry taxpayers ringing their congressmen's phones off their hooks had a LOT to do with it.

And I am one of them. The bailout is an abomination, and will only prolong and worsen the economic collapse.

The skinny on the vote:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml

D 140(Y) 95(N)
R 65(Y) 133(N) 1(NV)

TOTALS 205(Y) 228(N) 1

Spot on Seek. The problem started years ago with the Democrats to begin with. Then with Paulson coming up with a cockamamie bailout and the Democrats scheming to make it a Christmas tree festooned with special interest ornaments, we were all set to be gifted with lumps of coal while being dazzled with the colored lights. I for one am damn mad and not inclined to take it anymore. These people need to be handed their walking papers. Hopefully, that will happen in this coming election but I am not holding my breath.

Boehner should say that then, rather than try to blame Pelosi and her speech. Some profile in courage. I really have no problem with representatives of either party that voted against the bill, but they should say WHY, not blame it on some BS hurt feelings. And if any actually did vote against it because their feelings were hurt, they should resign.

"SO what's your real problem?"

That Republican's can't stand on their own ideals and say they voted against the bill because they didn't believe in it. This whole Pelosi stuff is so phony.

I actually with WPE's statement.

Finally, I'm glad to see McFailure's glorious "leadership" in action. That white horse he rode into town just squat down and took a big shit on the Republican party's electoral chances.

Worst Poster Ever:

Your chickenshit brethren abandoned the bill when they saw the republicans sticking to their guns.

"Several Democrats in close election fights waited until the last moment, then went against the bill as it became clear the vast majority of Republicans were opposing it".

The dems had a chance to step up and lead...instead, they flop and blame everyone else. When will you call for Pelosi's resignation? Or Frank's?

Answer: Never. You are as clueless as your party leaders.

"Finally, I'm glad to see McFailure's glorious "leadership" in action."

You see, this, you and yours are exactly the basis for the whole problem. Imagine the party of "we wuz robbeded" for eight years lecturing on acting maturely. Now the reason that the dems, in the words of many of thier own, backed off is because da peeples lit up the phone lines to protest the whole idea or else there would've been a majority that the would've made the demo party the saviors of the day......unless it failed and there'd be no one to blame but themselves. I hope the repugnicans ALL wave the flag of "we backed off because of Pelosi's big mouth" like a rainbow flag in a gay pride parade. It isn't true though. Apparently some are saying they backed out because wording had been changed. Things like oversight they didn't approve, nothing for those poor people losing their homes, blah, blah other reasons. Of course to the weak minded the people who were actually charged witht he responsibility to represent us wouldn't bother to study the vote.....or listen to the protests of their constituents......no, it should boil down to playing party games and other simple BS.

Wow, it is carpetbag the blogs with posts and buy a limited edition t shirt. And they say the republicans have no clue.

Seems like that guy thinks nationalizing the banks is the way to solve the problem. Hard to see that one getting passed.

"What most banking experts would have like to see in a new federal program is for the government to simply inject new capital into the banks rather than buying the bad loans. That would mean essentially nationalizing the entire U.S. banking system, and was deemed unpalatable politically. So now instead we are applying an expensive, cynical solution that is likely doomed to failure."

I have to hand it to Nancy Pelosi, her little partisan speech hurt some Republican feelings, the vote goes down the tubes and everyone blames the Republicans so Obama is elected. I bet Obama wrote the speech!

Side note: Not everyone is unhappy or loses money when the financial markets take a nosedive. Even with the current short selling ban in place there are alternative trading strategies to get around it, like buying "put" options. I wonder how many of our representatives who voted against the bail out were "short" the market and made fortunes today?

There are apparently plenty of strategies to mitigate your losses. Too bad I didn't use any of them. Didn't hear from my broker about them either but I'm learning now, after the horse has left the barn.

"Several Democrats in close election fights waited until the last moment, then went against the bill as it became clear the vast majority of Republicans were opposing it".

Isn't that amazing? You'd think that, since the Obamamessiah supports this bill and endorses it, those Dems would go right ahead and vote for it.

Problem is, people are finally realizing that the Obamamessiah supports giveaways to all those people who lied on their mortgage applications and bought homes they couldn't afford. Pelosi, Frank, and the Obamamessiah believe that those people should be rewarded with money from frugal and wise taxpayers and are demanding that it be done.

Mary - I have lost money in the stock market in the past by not implementing any strategies to protect my stocks in a downturn. It was a very stupid mistake that cost me more than $250,000 in stock losses, money I don't have now that I am retired and sure could use it. A really simple way to avoid big losses is to ALYWAYS use a stop-loss, for example if you buy AT&T at $30.00 a share, you might want to request your broker put in a stop loss at $24.00 a share (which would be a 20% loss, but would save you from further downside risk), the sale would automatically kick in and you wouldn't need to worry about watching the stock. You could place a tighter stop-loss at 10% or wherever you want. The traders usually put stop-losses at the bottom of a trading range, if AT&T was in a trading range of $40 to $30, a stop-loss would be put at $30 to lock in profits and reduce further losses.

Tico,

"What a dumb c*nt."

I used to say that to your mother all the time.

Why does everyone keep thinking that this had to be a bi-partisan bill and its the Republicans fault it didn't pass? If this was such a great idea and the only solution. Wouldn't all the Dems have voted for it? I don't understand why people don't realize that the Dems have control of the house. They don't need republican votes. If they all voted for it then they would automatically pass.

Besides if you are going to criticize McCain for not getting the bill passed then you have to lay blame on the Obama as well. I thought that he was (cue music and light from heaven) "Obamessiah, savior of the Universe". Able to bring both sides together for the hope of the change of the hope and change. Not exactly his shining moment either.

So 95 dhimmi's voted 'no' to protect their seat this fall. Doesn't that tell you (if the bail out was so great) they care more about the money they draw for doing nothing in congress than they care about the country, or they actually knew the 'people' were right on this one. Either way Pig 'botox' Peeeloshi is the most stupid leader of congress ever.

McCain called a number of republicans before the vote. Hussein 'the one' called no one, so it's all Hussein O's fault any way you look at it.

I don't think Peeeloshi and the dhimmi failed leaders ever intended to pass the bill after all the pork for the anti-american-terrorists organizations was removed.

I'm still waiting for an ACORN idiot to show at my door. I want to see how fast they can run 300 feet to get off my property. Not fast enough, anything over 30 seconds, and the gun goes off.

Pelosi may have messed up our chances for a recovery.

And she may just be setting up Obama for a big swoop in and rescue.

Obama, "Here I come to save the day!" at: http://riggword.wordpress.com/

"--- The traders usually put stop-losses at the bottom of a trading range, if AT&T was in a trading range of $40 to $30, a stop-loss would be put at $30 to lock in profits and reduce further losses. ---"

Interesting thought... it does take some studying of the recent trading history of the stock (technical analysis) -- especially in a bear market -- to establish a range and to attempt to buy in after a rebound, and sell shortly before the next anticipated resistance level. But the narrow range with great volatility over the short term makes it harder to assess what is a (short term in recent months) recovery vs. a dead cat bounce. I reckon that's what the 30- and 60- day moving averages help sort out, though I'm certainly no expert at it.

My wife is a pretty smart cookie with that (she's used to trading Nikkei related positions, and that's been rather dicey since the mid-90's...) I'm more of a "buy-and-hold"/dollar cost averaging minded, indexing kind of guy.

Unfortunately, at least for the next several months, that's not going to be a good way to hold onto one's money, unless your particular stock or index fund is trading near or at the bottom of its historic range. Even then, I'm inclined to be a bit skittish about timing at this point.

"--- I'm still waiting for an ACORN idiot to show at my door. I want to see how fast they can run 300 feet to get off my property. Not fast enough, anything over 30 seconds, and the gun goes off. ---"

Heh. That's some sidewalk/driveway to dig out of snow, if you are up in snow country.

But at 2800 feet per second, it won't make that much difference.

"I'm still waiting for an ACORN idiot to show at my door. I want to see how fast they can run 300 feet to get off my property. Not fast enough, anything over 30 seconds, and the gun goes off."

Hey Scrapiron I wondered how fast that guy would have to run to get off of you property in time.

Being around Physicists all day made the nerd in me try a little math and by my calculation that guy would only have to run 6.8 mi/hr to be clear. A human like Michael Johnson or Donovan Bailey can run as fast as 27 mi/hr. If you gave them 30 seconds they would 1188 ft away so you better be a damn good shot. And shooting troll prey in the back just isn't sporting!

Now, I on the other hand would not be adverse to releasing my 3 dogs on the troll for a little sport!

They don't like trolls lingering around the house!

"--- Now, I on the other hand would not be adverse to releasing my 3 dogs on the troll for a little sport! ---"

Now you could use my (patent pending) Cat-A-Pult™ and round up your naighbour's cats to launch at trespassers like I do.

Kill two birds with one stone - or one cat - y'know?

*neighbour.

And it's bed time for me...

ET,

Pelosi should not be allowed to drive this economy off the cliff!
We need to vote the Dems out and take away her keys!
Pelosi, Frank, and Reid need to be grounded~

"Pelosi drives America off the cliff" at: http://riggword.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/pelosi-drives-america-off-the-cliff/

Bailout passes extending gov't control over banking and investment industries - Dems win

Bailout fails - market tanks - useless tool zer0bama elected - Pelosi and Reid gain more power - Dems win

It's a win-win!!! Oh taxpayes and country loses - like Dems give a shit about that.

jaime gum writes "John McCain swooped into D.C. promising these votes as a marker of his mavericky awesomeness and he failed. Democrats provided the votes they said they would, Republicans didn't."

No you don't, you sneak. The Dems told the MSM a lie, that there was agreement, in order to prevent McCain from "swooping" in and promising votes. As for the Repubs, they provided the votes the American people wanted, just ask the Dems who voted against the deal.

Tico,

You have such a way with words!

Isn't it amusing that more Demos voted against bill as a percentage than Republicans? The fact is that this whole mess was avoidable if both McCain and Bush had been listened to and not stifled by the Democrat majority. Dodd's committee voted a bill down by party lines creating an FDIC insurance structure - all Dems against, all Republicans for. It's the Clinton administration who created the rules that required "affordable housing" quotas, which by necessity led to less stringent underwriting rules. It was Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae who testified in front of Frank's committee about all the wonderful and creative financing schemes that were being perpetuated in the name of "affordable housing" (100%-no income verification-Interest only payments).
