From the LA Times to the Globe, the Washington Post and just about everywhere in between, the headlines are mostly about the pork - but not the DC pork we're used to seeing discussed to some degree.
Barack Obama after speaking on the war in Iraq in Riverside, Ohio. His aides say his pig-in-lipstick comment is “a common analogy,” not a sexist insult....
Were I McCain I wouldn't be looking to push this too far, let people make of it what they will. And were I Obama I'd be looking to change the subject real quick.

Remember the poutrage expressed by the wingers when St. McPOW called Hillary Clinton's health care plan, "lipstick on a pig"? Remember the winger poutrage when St. McPOW told that rape joke? Remember the winger poutrage when St. McPOW said that Chelsea Clinton was so ugly because Janet Reno was her father? Remember the winger poutrage when St. McPOW called Cindy a cunt?
Me either.
I believe that this photo aptly describes the McPOW campaign:

I just have one thing to say: Macaca.

"-- Were I McCain I wouldn't be looking to push this too far, let people make of it what they will. And were I Obama I'd be looking to change the subject real quick. --"
I'll say. If we stop talking about tax policy, the Iraq War, or health care reform and just focus on the etymology and frequency-of-use of the phrase "lipstick-on-a-pig", we might be delving into territory that McCain can actually win.
Obama is smart to distance himself from this meaningless back-and-forth as fast as he can and get back to the policy debate where he resoundingly trashes McCain at every turn.

"And were I Obama I'd be looking to change the subject real quick."
If I were Obama, I'd be using that line in every speech for the next week.

You liberals are your own worst enemies, and what's so funny to me is that you are all too dumb to know it. Just do what you've been doing, boys, and you'll all be heading to Canada again in November, or was it France? Either way, it was just another lie some of you liberals told. As it was, neither Canada nor France wanted you. That ought to tell you something.

It is the Democrats that have created this meaningless back and forth. It is the Democrats that are busy manufacturing hourly false scandals about Sarah Palin. And their friends in the media, who should all be getting a stipend from the Obama campaign for serving as unofficial spokespeople.
Liberals are definitely their own worst enemy, even when its clear that the attack Palin strategy is backfiring, they're so arrogant they can't bring themselves to stop it. Not to say this doesn't also apply to Republicans, but its the liberal Democrats who constantly tell everyone by their words and actions that they are smarter than the Republicans.

What an election. We have the world's first politically correct, affirmative action candidate getting trounced by his own stupid sexist commentary about Gov. Palin's candidacy as a VP.
Funny thing is, I can't remember when presidential candidates attacked VP candidates.
Usually, the VP is supposed to be the attack dog on the POTUS candidates, not the other way around. And come the debates, will that let Biden out of his cage...? That guy is a walking gaffe machine, and Gov. Palin would likely DESTROY him in a debate.

This one is over. On to the next gaffe! Who will it be? Odds: Biden 1:1 Obama 2:1 McCain 6:1 Palin (off the board, pending the Gibson interview)

The "old fish" line gave it away that it was preplanned... you couldn't say that about the dig to Hillary's health care plan...
