Looks Like Palin Email Hacker Might Just Get Caught

Combining this Register item with information noted by Michelle Malkin, looks like this guy might just be busted rather easily - assuming he was telling the truth:

"I read everything, every little blackberry confirmation… all the pictures, and there was nothing, and it finally set in, THIS internet was serious business, yes I was behind a proxy, only one, if this shit ever got to the FBI I was fucked,...."

If he used just one proxy, given this below from the first link above ... yeah, he just might be well and truly screwed. Probably the first time in the losers life.

"Usually, this sort of thing would be hard to track down because it's Yahoo email, and a lot of people use my service for that," he told El Reg in a phone interview. "Since they were dumb enough to post a full screenshot that showed most of the [Ctunnel.com] URL, I should be able to find that in my log."

...

To prevent abuse of the service - such as the occasional bomb threat or other illegal act that's been known to happen - Ramuglia logs each user's IP address, along with the time and web destination. That often isn't enough to track down people who access extremely popular websites. But in this case, the perpetrators included a whole string of random-looking characters when posting screenshots of Palin's hacked account. That will probably be enough for him to pinpoint the proverbial needle in the haystack.

The information at the moment is on a server at a Chicago colocation site owned by FDC Servers. Logs are automatically flushed after seven days, so the clock is ticking for law enforcement, who presumably are under intense pressure to protect the privacy of a candidate for the White House. Of course, there's always the possibility that Ctunnel.com was only one of multiple anonymization services the email hackers used to cover their tracks, but there's only one way to find out.

Lock him up. The AP, of course, will not turn over to the Secret Service the principle evidence in a major federal crime. Gee, I wonder if they'd cooperate if Obama's email sessions with Scarlett Johanssen had been hacked.... [Read More]

The fundamentals of the Riehl World View are strong!

Guess who said this and when it was said:

"For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation."

It was BARACK OBAMA. BByyyaaaaaatt. Wrong. It was JOHN MCCAIN in 2005. Did Obama vote NO or PRESENT?

"The legislation was blocked by Democrats, with the assistance of a few Republicans."

Calling jaime gum. One of those essentials can be read above.

More information on how the trolls get their propaganda messages out. This concerns radio show intimidation, but I venture the same applies to blogs and chat rooms. Good stuff here about the Obama Action [read Censorship] Wires, from the Chicago Tribune:
http://jimtreacher.com/archives/001600.html

I made an error above. Jim Treacher should get credit for the "Good stuff" above. The comment I wrote makes it seem like the Trib should get the credit.

BobInStamford-

you are the scum which my stiletto heels so enjoy smashing into the concrete sidewalk...pitiful little flabby creature are you.

The hacker might get caught ... but consider this bit of info from the Register article:

"Ramuglia said if he is contacted by law enforcement officials he will probably give them the information they seek. At time of writing, he's *received no inquiries* from any law enforcement agencies, he said."

Your tax dollars hard at work.

Fred, Here's Zero's speech, how many uhs can you count?

http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/blog/g/92bd40d5-967c-4d28-aa68-58ab23bd5c7b

Lala, thanks. In return I offer you some beautiful music...and, uh, you know, a political message.
http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/by_the_time_everyone_was_equal_they_were_equally_poor/

Uh, Lala, you know it probably isn't, you know, uh, Obie kind of, uh, music, but, you know, who knows, you know?

If there is one party or club in history these morons who have taken over the Democratic Party remind me of it is the Jacobins. And I have little doubt these apes would repeat those excesses of the Jacobins given the chance.

the important question to the hacker would be: "Were you doing this on your own or were you asked to do it by someone else?"

Good question. Do hackers all hack for the hack of it?

With the polls closing the gap in New York State to show McCain within a few points of Obama, I just might have to rethink my protest vote.

Who'da thunk it, Deep Blue New York being actually competetive - a battleground state!

http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/09/15/ny-is-battleground-state-5-pts-without-accounting-for-3rd-party/

Not that my one wee little vote will make a big difference, but with all those P.O.'d PUMAs up here not particularly thrilled with The Zero, I might have to plug to turnips up my nose while pulling for McCain.

I'll be holding my nose real tight too, seek, but every vote counts to stop the socialists, pacifists, MSM tools, tax-to-deathers, feelers, so-called environmentalists, NOLW (L is for liberal), NAALCP, laft-wing Ward Churchill phony Native Americans, rabid Kos and Huff kids, those who would make voter registration anonymous, and judges who feel they need to legislate and change the meaning of the English language. That doesn't completely cover the supporters of Obama, but close enough for government work.

Hahaha! This woman is such a dope. Chuck Hagel hit the nail on the head

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080918/ap_on_el_pr/hagel_palin;_ylt=AudhbFdq__jvcqdVaUctywms0NUE

I hope John McCain is making sure that his mimeograph machine is secure.

"-- I'll be holding my nose real tight too, seek, but every vote counts to stop the socialists, pacifists, MSM tools, tax-to-deathers, feelers, so-called environmentalists, NOLW (L is for liberal), NAALCP, laft-wing Ward Churchill phony Native Americans, rabid Kos and Huff kids --"

Socialists? Tax-to-deathers? MSM tools? Phony Native Americans (like with the feather hats and the tomahawks)?

Last I checked, it was the Bush Administration presiding over the largest government bail-out in history - THRICE! Bear Sterns, Fannie and Freddie, and now AIG? We've been nationalizing our assets in a way that would make Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong blanch. Now that the US Government owns an investment firm, a real estate giant, and the world's biggest insurance corporation I wonder how people will feel about actually getting stable assets, affordable housing, and government insurance?

And before you go on about how capitalism dictates that we should have just let all the big brokers fail, it's worth noting what brought us here. "Deregulation" has reaped a whirlwind of funny-money in the system. Banks got to print worthless paper and sell it like it was pirate gold, and now the US Government has to sweep in and back it all or risk watching the dollar become worthless. The money you and I stuck in WaMu savings accounts and AAA Bonds was laundered years ago. Now its just a matter of whether we devalue the entire economy and spiral into massive negative growth or run our money presses till they run out of ink to justify all this false wealth. Government decided to let the banks regulate themselves and the banks started PRINTING THEIR OWN MONEY. The solution we keep hearing from Republicans is to back off and let the banks continue doing this.

So yes, keep on trucking brave GOP warriors. This can only get better from here. The economy is strong!

I assume you realize that banking was deregulated when Bill Clinton was president.

What can one say to Moe except the Dems are responsible for the mortgage crisis:

And there is more, Moe. Lala found this smoker. And, Moe, you're my foil and I love you, but don't ever take sides against the family again:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usvG-s_Ssb0

And that there SHOULD be regulation, in keeping with the Constitution's appointment of the the right to regulate interstate commerce (as touching banking: my bank accounts may not necessarily be in the same state I am domiciled in).

Llama, it really doesn't matter WHO sits in the oval office a few months from now; the financial sector is fundamentally jacked up beyond all recognition, and we will all be tightening our belts and finally learning as a nation to live under our means - scrimping and saving whatever we can to get by:

WE, the PEOPLE, have been singularly foolish with our money -- and soon, we shall be rightfully parted from it.

If anything, it would be better if the government simply stepped back, and let the bulk of the economy fail, and enter a five or seven year depression in order to sweep out all the economic deadwood and idiotarians who let greed get too far in front of them. It would be better for us to have done that back in the 2001-2003 bear market instead of letting that idiot-savant Greenspan pump up the real estate bubble. With all the market gyrations going on now, with the Federal Reserve and the ECB/BOJ/BOC pumping up the dollars, it is going to be far more uglier when everything collapses.

The Piper ALWAYS gets paid... and he's a little sorer for having been put off for so long.

The next few years are going to be very harsh, and Americans of all ages, save for the GI Generation who are passing on to their fathers with generous pensions, will know privation, hunger, and true want for the first time.

Except, of course, for those "lucky" fatcats who by then, will have have fled the country with all the wealth they managed to make before everything went belly up.

"-- I assume you realize that banking was deregulated when Bill Clinton was president. --"

Yes, the bill sponsored by Phil Graham, John McCain's current economic adviser. It was passed with veto-proof majorities in both houses. It's good to see we're all on the same page.

"-- What can one say to Moe except the Dems are responsible for the mortgage crisis: --"

Of course it is.

"-- Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 --"

Was an empty measure that did nothing to repeal Graham's deregulation bill or re-regulate the industry in any other fashion. It did little more than shuffle the deck chairs about on the Titanic. McCain wanted to change the names of the various regulatory committees rather than pass any meaningful reform.

The $45 trillion in unregulated securities and insurance instruments went untouched by this Act because the Graham Bill specifically outlaws their regulation. FHERRA did nothing to change that.

And by "WE, the People" I also and especially mean the House Dems who have looked the other way whilst receiving payola from the F'Macs - which of course, involved guaranteeing bad loans to bad (credit) people.

Moe. "Was an empty measure..."
Sponsored by the friend of libtards everywhere, Chuck Hagel.

"Sets forth operating, administrative, and regulatory provisions of the Agency, including provisions respecting: (1) assessment authority; (2) authority to limit nonmission-related assets; (3) minimum and critical capital levels; (4) risk-based capital test; (5) capital classifications and undercapitalized enterprises; (6) enforcement actions and penalties; (7) golden parachutes; and (8) reporting."

Doesn't look empty to me. Does it look empty to anyone besides Moe?

Moe, did you know that the rats, having gnawed holes in the bulkheads, now want to jump ship:

"The Democratic-controlled Congress, acknowledging that it isn't equipped to lead the way to a solution for the financial crisis and can't agree on a path to follow, is likely to just get out of the way." (Bloomberg)

"-- Doesn't look empty to me. Does it look empty to anyone besides Moe? --"

Those provisions only work on assets that are already being regulated. The unregulated assets that AIG, Bear Sterns, Liehman, and Fannie/Freddie were dealing in would remain as such.

Deck chairs. Titanic.
It solved nothing.

You need to actually read the Graham bill before you start yapping your yap, Fred.

We are now all paying b/c people took out loans they couldnt afford. AIG is just the secondary market.

This is the housing bubble breaking. After tech burst, and people made tons of money, only the greedy and dumb got hit, that money went to RE development and purchases. We were told everyone deserves a home, even though they dont. So people with no money and bad credit got loans. When people were getting 400K in 2004 at 2pts, the bank didnt do it b/c they like you, they did it to make money. How do they do that? Its called insurance. A bank takes out insurance on a loan in case it goes bad. And guess who the insurer was? AIG. They bring in $20B/year through insurance. So AIG insured the banks against the loans. Well guess what? Now people cant pay the loans, so the banks are putting claims in to AIG to collect on the insurance. All at once. This is a problem.

I don't remember Clinton being against the repeal of Glass-Steagal, but maybe I've forgotten.

I do remember that part of the deal to get the banking industry deregulated was concessions regarding ensuring that 'high risk' 'underserved' communities were going to get more loans, because as we all know the Democrats are deeply concerned with 'affordable housing' for special peoples.

However, it appears that just like the evil conservatives have thought all along...extending credit to people with a history of mismanaging it was a bad idea....they won't pay it back. They're doing exactly what they've always done...walking away from their debts...crying foul and demanding a handout.

None of that excuses the Wall Street excesses in terms of the mortgage securities trading, but, the Democrats are EQUALLY culpable for this debacle and they are MORE culpable for the sub prime mortgage fiasco because without their do gooder meddling most of these people never would have gotten loans in the first place, so there would have been no high risk loans to securitize.

"You need to actually read the Graham Bill before you start yapping your yap.."

And you need to actually admit that the Congress and President Clinton were all in bed together. Clinton and the Democrats wanted poor people to get housing they could not afford, and Republicans and Democrats wanted to make money helping them get housing they could not afford. And look what it has led to. It wouldn't take a genius to be able to foretell the results of such pathetic management.

NASHVILLE – The son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell told The Tennessean.

Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin’s personal e-mail account, the newspaper reported on its Web site this afternoon.

The FBI and the Secret Service started a formal investigation Wednesday into the hacking, according to the Associated Press.

David Kernell is a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

More details as they develop online and in Friday’s News Sentinel.

Kernell was on Obama's VP selection committee, wasn't he?

dan, I bet your antennae are up. The story about this kid just doesn't feel right. It's too pat. Email gets hacked of Republican VP candidate. Hacker goes online and admits hacking. Hacker leaves a trail a mile long for even bloggers to follow. Bingo. Kid is son of some small fry dem politician? If you read the skirts blog the first two entries creep me out totally.

A kid with gender identity problems, whose been committed twice, a father who attends gay parades, sounds like your typical Kos Kiddy to me.

Mary Lamb -

In the hacker community you get props for proving you did something like this. On the good side, the kid realized he's done something really illegal - on the bad side, he wasn't smart enough to STFU about it, but had to go and try to impress a lot of his peers and be a 'hero' by finding 'something incriminating'. When he didn't find anything, he should have been silent... but how could he have impressed his peeps?

"Stupid" doesn't begin to cover this. It's really going to suck to be him.

Moe: "You need to actually read the Graham bill before you start yapping your yap, Fred."

Moe, you need to present evidence via links if you are going to make statements that are contrary to common knowledge.
