There's an intersting chart I posted at TFR listing state-by-state breakdowns of carbon emissions reductions based upon so-called EcoDriving teachniques. It's interesting to see the details on car ownership and gasoline usage by state.

Most of those tips are common sense and have to do with common-sense maintenance that people should always practice, while others are just dumb.
-Don't use A/C under 40 mph? Do they have any clue what the weather is like in Texas or Florida in mid July?
-Don't warm up your car, just start and go? Here in Minnesota, if you did that they would find either your stiff corpse frozen to the wheel or you would kill someone because your windshield has iced over.
-Use synthetic oil? Don't never ever ever never ever use synthetic petroleum products. Sure they sound good but once they are in your vehicles system you can never go back to non-syn oil; regular oil can't stick to the parts correctly and your machinery is going to burn. Syn oil is notoriously different in quality between manufacturers; they often use different additives and manufacturing processes. Just tellin' ya, and I'm someone who knows.

I'm still trying to figure out how you weigh a ton of carbon dioxide.

Ask any democrat working at a local party campaign HQ... they have some "E-Meters" on loan from the Scientologists (you know, Tom Cruise's goofy religious cult) that have the ability to check your Thetan count AND measure hot air output.
Hot air? Ooops. I meant CO2 output.

What an idot telling people not to use synthetic oil. Firstly, all name brand normal oil of above average quality all use a small amount of synthetic oil as an additive to improve it. S true synthetic oil is a chemical and does not thicken up when the temperature gets cold like normal oil does. Since it a chemical, it chemically cleans out your engine by breaking down carbon and diluting varnich left of parts from the use of normal oils. A full syn oil protects many times better at very high temps as well as it does not break down like normal oils. It also sticks to your engine parts after shutting off which leaves a film of lubricant on your parts to very significantly reduce any wear than happens at engine startup. An independant test showed a savings in gasoline of 15% at a temp of 20 degrees F for a 10 mile run in a 4 cylinder engine. If that engine was a V6, the fuel savings jumped to 17.5%. In hotter temps, expect a fuel savinsg of 5% for a year round savings of about 9 percent. Use only a full synthetic lube and run it no longer than 15,000 miles but change only the oil filter every 4 or 5,000 miles and add top up syn lube. I have used synthetic oils for 35 years in commercial vehicles and they run cooler, start easier in extreme hot or cold and prolong engine life by triple. I have driven over 2 million miles and advise anyone to add one quart of a full syn lube if your engine with normal oil needs a top up between changes. Even one quart added to an engine filled with normal oil will make a big difference and help it run smoother and quieter while chemically cleaning the engine. I worked for a company that made full synthetoc lubes and it does not break down. Also run a full syn lube in tyour automatic trnasmissions as it reduces heat so much, your trans will last twice as long. Running a full synthetic lube is the cheapest lube you can use becuase it saves so much money on fuel that the payback is after the third tank of gasoline. It's your money folks. Money talks, B******* walks.

As an Automotive Engineer my recomendation is to use 100% synthetic Motor Oil.
I own a 2004.5 Mustang GT-R in 2006 i put the car into storage and wasnt able to return to start or drive the car for 2 years. When I returned, I put a new battery in to the car and anticipated that I would need to pull the spark plugs and put oil into the cylinders. I gave it a try and low and behold it fired up first time. I have used Mobil-1 from the day it was new...
