Why this lifelong Republican may vote for Obama
By Michael Smerconish
Sept. 11, 2008 | Where the hell are Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri? And why does virtually no one ask anymore? What's changed since the days when any suburban soccer mom would have strangled either of them with her bare hands if given the chance? And what happened to President Bush's declaration to a joint session of Congress nine days after 9/11 that "any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime." Doesn't that apply to Pakistan?
These are things that I wonder as I watch from my perch in Philadelphia, where I'm a talk show host, columnist and MSNBC talking head.
Requirements: Shit for brains.
That is all.

Went to link, got assaulted by a pop-up ad, said to hell with it, didn't bother reading article. Life is too short.

I knew he was going to vote for Obama. I just knew it. It's not what he says but what he doesn't say.
Bill Oreilly is another person to watch.

It is, of course, fascinating that he'd say something like that now that for the past three weeks or so we *have* been targeting the Pakistani tribal areas.
I haven't read the rest of the article; Salon's turned into Palin Derangement Central and I don't know that I want to give them the traffic.

I hate to ruin your post, but have you noticed the missle attacks against our enemies in Pakistan, and that special ops have been authorized to make incursions into Pakistan, and that the President has authorized intelligence black ops in Pakistan, and that today it has just been announced that greater latitude for US military operations in Pakistan has been authorized ???
Of course, you are just a "TALKING" head.

"--- greater latitude for US military operations in Pakistan has been authorized. ---"
This makes me quite nervous, on two accounts:
1) The Pakis are a nuclear nation
2) The Paki Government has quite explicitly stated that US military presence is unwelcome and unwanted as it will further destabilise their country.
Do we REALLY need to be fighting a global war on no less than four or five fronts...?
Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia/Russia, Pakistan, Iran, and maybe China will decide to get grabby with Taiwan now that they've made all that money off of the Olympics...?
It is almost as if our politco class is hell-bent on destroying this nation by bleeding us white in war after war after war.

The young Rustler above seems to think Bush should have authorized an act of war against Pakistan a long time ago. But had he done so the Rustler would have gone off his noggin like the rest of the disloyal opposition.
It would have been extremely problematical in the days of acute BDS. Authorizing it now is only possible because the new star in the lefterly sky, Obie, has made it his inexperienced business to move to the right on war-on-terror issues concerning bin Boob, I mean bin Ladin, because there is a new leader in Pakistan, and because we have won in Iraq..
