He Didn't?
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."

Poor Barry, the more he opens his mouth and adlibs the worse it gets.
We are seeing the beginning of the end for the great Xerxes!
No amount of media bias or George Soros cash can save this idiot from his own mouth!!
Priceless!!

So now Obama is calling Palin a pig. I'm sure women all over the US will appreciate the reference.

His 'lipstick on a pig' and 'women smell like dead fish' when talking about Governor Palin simply shows his lifelong connection to Islam and their treatment of women. He hasn't changed since Islamic school and wouldn't want to disappoint his Islamic masters.

Now, now evryone knows that "pig" is ghetto slang for trashy white women who seek out strange black men for sex and Obie would never use such slang to refer to Xena like that.

I am absolutely livid at these remarks. I am disappointed in Lebanon Virginia, totally. HOW DARE this stupid muslim loving little creep refer to his republican woman opponent in this matter.

Here's the video. Listen to his fake southern accent again..The word policy and how he thinks he gives it the southern ending.

So now Hot Air reports that Team McCain says that Obama called Palin a pig...And conservatives being so tolerant and even handed say that Obama did not, he was referring to their campaign promises. Have you ever heard of Double Entendre. Well even if conservatives don't know what it means, that crowd that Obama spoke to knows what it means, liberals laughing behind their hand know what it means and i'll bet EVEN matthews and olberman KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. I'm an American Woman And I KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. If McCain had said anything this outright, main stream media would be requiring the resignation of every republican registered in the United States. you can let it pass. but i won't.

Palin fires back..."How do you keep the Dumbocratic Presidential candidate from jumping up and down on his bed? Put velcro on the ceiling!"

It's a CLICHE. McCain's used the same cliche speaking about Hillary. He also used something similar talking about Romney.
Here's another one: Crocodile Tears.

There's something in this video about Bob Beckel being the first to make the "pig" reference.

What McCain said -
Last October, asked about Sen. Hillary Clinton's health care plan, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was blunt.
McCain said Clinton's proposal was “eerily” similar to the ill-fated plan she devised in 1993.
“I think they put some lipstick on a pig,” he said, “but it’s still a pig.”
Posted by: Lala | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 09:38 PM
What McCain said -
"He smirked as he heard the former Massachusetts governor's assertion that McCain wanted to allow illegal immigrants to remain permanently in the United States.
Asked how he intended to respond, the Arizona Republican said: "Never get into a wrestling match with a pig. You both get dirty -- and the pig likes it."
The back-of-the-bus compartment in which McCain was holding forth went silent for several seconds. Finally, a reporter asked: was McCain comparing Romney to a pig? McCain laughed and paused as he formulated his response: "That was a general philosophical approach to American politics."

What Obama said -
"We've been talking about change when we were up in the polls and when we were down in the polls," Senator Obama told a rally in Virginia as surveys suggested Senator McCain and Mrs Palin have overhauled his lead for the election to be held on November 5 (Australian time).
"The other side, suddenly, they're saying 'we're for change too'. Now think about it, these are the same folks that have been in charge for the last eight years.
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough," he said to a standing ovation.
Posted by: Lala | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 09:47 PM
Appears you may be counting your chickens a bit early - the Fat Lady - no that's not a Palin reference - hasn't even begun to warm up yet. So it's certainly too early to put a fork in this election..
And while you're playing the language police, there's a rep down in the South that called Obama uppity. Hmmm, wonder what he could have meant by that?
But then you know what they say, if it looks like a racist, walks like a racist and quacks like a racist, it's a racist.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
Since Sarah Palin doesn't look or act like a pig, it's not a metaphor that really works anyway. She looks really good with lipstick on. It's fun stuff though, how sensitive everyone's been this election season with an African-American running, trying not to use any code words or say anything that can be misconstrued. The politically correct speech rules, do they work both ways? I guess we'll see.
Posted by: Sally | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 09:59 PM
But the guy who said uppity WASN'T running for president.
Posted by: Marie LeVeau | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Watch obama's body language, puts his hand over his face, over his mouth...he is clearly ashamed of himself and maybe knows this is not a good idea. But he goes ahead....says to me, easily influenced...too easily influenced. Let's his mouth get away from him. The saying is..'you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. He wanted to get that lipstick thing in there...AND the pig. And so he has. So now don't blame the American public is they take it as it was intended. very very very bad idea. The Fatal Flaw you might even say. And Mr. Obama will destroy himself before he has the opportunity to destroy this country.

Gov. Paterson (D) NY is saying that the Republicans have a new racist code word(s) - and they are - COMMUNITY ORGANIZER

Hey LaLa,
"Gov. Paterson (D) NY is saying that the Republicans have a new racist code word(s) - and they are - COMMUNITY ORGANIZER"
Can't this guy see for himself that a better code word for racist is Reverend Wright!!!!
(Troll Warning) Subtle Humor was used in this post, please feel free to be offended!

All those kind suggestions from the left advising McCain to replace Governor Palin....my bet that Hillary is NOT yet done for 2008 might be right on the money.
Posted by: Marie LeVeau | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 11:18 PM
Don't get too cocky.
Imagine Biden bowing out, Hillary comes forth from her lair and the crowds swoon. The momentum shifts back and the game is far from over.
Posted by: checkers | Tuesday, September 09, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Can't control that. What will be will be. Why should Biden bow out unless he's embarrassed by the presidential candidates behavior. Democrats made a bad choice. Barry making very big mistakes like this and who does the left thank for it. The Media. They may have just gone too far. Their downfall may be from the very people they support. Wouldn't THAT be a hoot. So then we'd have a McCain/Palin vs an Obama/Clinton? Would Hillary take the VP slot now? With this inexperienced dolt. Might be better to wait till 2012 to get this stink away from her. This is getting more interesting all the time.

Obama used the analogy "lipstick on a pig" to describe McCain's attempt to pretend he's for change.
Nothing more.
Since the GOP has nothing else they are trying to paint it as if he called Palin a pig.
The GOP is a joke.
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 12:14 AM
jharp:
watch the video clip, its clear he was making a thinly veiled reference to Palin; watch the audience.
The local media here (tri-cities TM/SW Va) that were present confimed what the clip indicates.
The comment about lipstick was for Palin; the old stinky fish comment was for McCain.
Low class Obama.
We will not fall for your empty promises. Even one of his supporters on camera told local media that (toothless grin showing)...if he can just do half what he promises he will be great....the poor guy didnt know what he'd just said, but he summed up the Great One's flame-out perfectly.....
Obama is slip sliding away.......shrinking like a cheap suit.....

jharp:
watch the video clip,
I watched it.
And.
He used the analogy "lipstick on a pig" to describe McCain's attempt to pretend he's for change.
Nothing more.
But if it makes you all feel better about your chances by all means go for it.
And I can't say that I blame you. It takes away from the issues and it's all you've got.
And after re electing George Bush in 2004 I will never underestimate the stupidity of Americans again.
Maybe it'll work. I highly doubt it.
Posted by: jharp | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 12:55 AM
"there's a rep down in the South that called Obama uppity."
A reference that is also used for white peeples like Old Joe Biden. Actually more of a class reference than a racial one, like "cracker". Guess when one's only frame of reference is the movies and TV it's easy to be confused.
Posted by: WAHOO WILLIE | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 07:10 AM
jharp, you don't know what Xerxes(obama) meant. I don't know for sure, either, but the crowd clearly took it as a reference to Palin. So what, much ado over nothing, maybe, but a clear indication to me that Democrats are the pigs in this race. As if I didn't already know.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:38 AM
Well it doesn't matter. Dems should have vetted their boy a LOT better than what they did. Bad delivery? Doesn't alter the fact that Obama made the reference, nobody but him and his team played with it, took the gamble...and it appears they've lost. Perception is reality. My initial response as a woman was anger. And I realize very well the double entendre of his remark and that doesn't make it any easier to swallow. I'm also southern. Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes and tell me he meant nothing. Oh he KNEW full WELL the reference he was making. and he knew the crowd would like it and get it. And from their reaction, they did. He also thought, being the messiah, that he could get away with it.
Posted by: Marie LeVeau | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:47 AM
"--- Dems should have vetted their boy a LOT better ... ---"
Did you just call Obama ... "boy"?
Uh oh, now you did it!!!!

oh, now it's the republicans fault that Obama has no mouth control.
Posted by: Marie LeVeau | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 12:15 PM
and Barry is attacking the media on this. Ironic wouldn't you say? Attacking his most ardent supporters for his inability to make good decisions regarding what and what NOT to say.
Posted by: Marie LeVeau | Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 12:18 PM
and before this is over, the media is going to be kicking its own butt for choosing this big mouth rather than the other big mouth in a pants suit.
Obama is visiting Don Clinton today in New York. too little too late.
