You would think ABC would be embarrassed by running a headline such as this over what amounts to nothing at all. And the headline is mostly untrue. The document serves little to raise any serious doubts and contradicts nothing at all.

Internal Government Document Contradicts Sarah Palin, Campaign

It's a document approving a trip Palin stated was tangential to her reasoning for firing former Public Safety Director Walt Monegan.

An internal government document obtained by ABC News appears to contradict Sarah Palin's most recent explanation for why she fired her public safety chief, the move which prompted the now-contested state probe into "Troopergate."

The document does not disclose what Monegan intended to do on the trip - that's what he was fired for according to Palin - not simply that he was taking some trip to DC. A Palin aide responded:

According to Ruaro, Monegan asked for -- and received -- approval for the travel without telling Palin's staff his reason for going. "As a matter of routine, the travel was approved by Mike Nizich ... weeks before the actual purpose was made clear by former Commissioner Monegan," Ruaro wrote.

"When you receive permission to travel, it does not mean that you receive blanket authorization to discuss or do whatever you would like on that trip," he added.

Nothing to see here folks, move along. Unless you want to pause and enjoy the increasingly irrelevant media be-clowning itself in its bias once again. I'll leave you with this thought on ABC.

May 7th: Randy Ruaro sends an email complaining Monegan has gone "off the reservation"

June 18th: A travel expense form was approved by Mike Nizich with "no questions asked".

Today: Randy Ruaro attempts to backpeddle and justify the expense form as being approved prior to knowing its purpose (what kind of organization does that?) from an employee previously identified by Palin's staff as being untrustworthy and "off the reservation" ...

Really. You'd approve a travel expense without asking questions on someone you and your staff deemed crazy...

Either they are lying or the Alaskan Government is being run by a bunch of negligent morons...

I am not surprised at this level there were no questions about the intent of the trip. You have to be able to trust the people who work for you. Monegan proved he couldn't be trusted and was asked to resign. It is the Governor's right.

No - it doesn't raise any doubts in my mind whatsoever - it's all 100% unadulterated BS. These reporters should fly on back up to Alaska and see if they can find a couple more people that don't like Governor Sarah Palin (if there are even any left - they seem to have located everyone she's defeated in an election. Perhaps we'd better bus in some more ringers, eh?) and see what they can invent - maybe they can come up with a waitress that's mad about not getting a big enough tip. Get this straight. He served at her convenience and she had the right to transfer him to another department, or flat out fire him, for ANY reason whatsoever. She transferred him, he refused the transfer and quit. The so-called "Troopergate" is a very large and expensive joke. This is just one of many things that finally made me wake up and realize that I, too, had been drinking the kool-aid. I'm no longer willing go along with this. I'm, NOT willing to support my party any more - you've turned it into nothing short of being the same mindset that swept Adolph Hitler into power.
"Hail Obama" has turned into "Zeig Hiel" Obama and made me feel absolutely ashamed of being a registered Democrat. You could show me a video of Governor Sarah Palin walking into the Wassila bank and robbing it with a moose-huntin-rifle, and I'd laugh and commend Charles Gibsons' staff on yet-another creative editing job. The dead tree media has ZERO credibility left with me and everyone in my immediate circle of friends. That may not count for much - our 10 votes - but I suspect this is happening on a wider scale than you could possibly imagine. Even an "ignorant white slut" like me can actually read - and the transcript of the Gibson interview is yet another thing that opened my eyes to what is going on. NEWSFLASH - Even "white trash sluts" like me can read and tell when they're being played for a fool, and once we realize it we just happen to get really, really, pissed off...

But looking at Sarah Palin made me realize that it actually means something to be a real person with Christian values. That there are actually people that believe in America and what it stands for. This article is BS..... Monegan since he is the head of his department would have had control over his own travel budget. He would have told the Governor's staff that he was going to D.C. on travel on those dates and he may or may not have included a purpose. It would have been basically a courtesy notification that he was traveling to Washington on business. They would not have approval authority unless they had put the clamps on him already for going around the Governor's back or he had already misappropriated funds for travel that had been caught by the Governor's Staff and had been warned.

I can't help but wonder if any of these Obots have ever had any managerial experience, or, for that matter, any kind of job.

It is a rarity for a government department head, particularly at the state level, to have to seek any kind of approval for travel. It is actually a tribute to Palin's attempts at frugality, or perhaps to rein in Monegan, that he was under this constraint. Presumably, the point of the approval was to maintain budgetary control over travel expenditures. The purpose of the travel would normally be a discretionary matter with a state department head until the budget ran thin or the privilege was abused. In this case, once it was determined the privilege had been abused, Monegan was demoted.

Unlike Jonathon, who is merely ignorant, the ABC Blotter twits are not "investigating," nor are they "reporting" they are engaging in relentless, malicious advocacy journalism directed against Governor Palin. Their intent, obviously, is to influence the outcome of the election.

I assume ABC is being fed information by Obama hatchet man*, Hollis French, who should have recused himself from this witch hunt due to his conflict of interest as soon as Palin was nominated for VP.

Also, I am not sure what the point of this argument is? That Palin and Monegan got along before her sister's divorce and he was only fired when he refused to fire a renegade trooper. There is no evidence to support that. There is plenty of evidence to support the fact that Monegan was insubordinate, and since he was a political appointee the Governor was right to get rid of him.
