"Fire a rogue cop? Why would any governor want to do that?"

Lol, "Rogue cop" you watch too many movies. The complaints filed were filed by his ex-father-in-law and some of them were completely unsubstantiated while he was punished for others.

Besides, isn't the cover-up worse than the crime? She said for weeks no one had put pressure on the commissioner in question when in fact audio tape surfaced showing the opposite to be true.

"--- As for your pipe-dream that Hillary supporters are going to vote for McCain and help overturn Roe v Wade - now that's half-witted thinking. ---"

Try to absorb this, libs:

Presidents and their VPs cannot overturn Supreme Court rulings.

Presidents and their VPs cannot overturn Supreme Court rulings.

Presidents and their VPs cannot overturn Supreme Court rulings.

Get it?

Presidents *may* appoint SCOTUS justices, who *might* give another abortion related case a writ of certiorari, - which could lead to a re-opening of SCOTUS discussion on Roe v. Wade... and even more remotely, a ruling that effectively undoes Roe v. Wade to the effect that states may determine the legality of abortion within their own borders.

But wanna know what would be a more likely event to undo Roe v. Wade?

A Congress that would be overwhelmingly Socially Conservative GOP or Constitutionalist that elects to remove SCOTUS jurisdiction over the matter of abortion, IAW Article III, Sect. 2:

"---- In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make. ----"

Focusing on the pertinent part:

"---- with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make. ----"

Or an amendment to the Constitution to specifically address the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

All of these have as much possibility of happening as a pig sprouting wings and flying. Legalized infanticide, courtesy of Roe v. Wade, is here to stay, and will likely send many more millions of innocent children to a hellish death than Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, and Mao could have ever hoped to have slaughtered in their wildest, sickest imaginations.

If there is anyone who should be tried for crimes against humanity, it should be justices of the Warren Burger court who should face the hangman's noose for the butchering and murder of over 40,000,000 babies.

Given the makeup of the current congress that's very unlikely to happen, especially since it's likely that the dems will pickup seats in both houses.

Even more unlikely is an amendment to the constitution given the difficulty of that process. Pop quiz, name the last two amendments to the Constitution...I was alive for neither of them.

So you are wrong...it's far more likely that the next president or two (which makes the VP very important to this) will have a major influence on the makeup of the court for the next 30-40 years during which time Roe v. Wade WILL be challenged.

So while you make think it's "half witted thinking", something you seem eminently familiar with, it's also the truth.

Supporters of HRC ARE NOT going to jump ship simply because McCain picked his future 3rd ex-wife to be his running mate.

I took my own unofficial poll today at the social hour following the church service. No one woman, including ages from mid-twenties to 80's probably seem inclined at this point to vote the ticket of McCain/Paulin based on age at both ends (no pun intended!!!)

"--- Even more unlikely is an amendment to the constitution given the difficulty of that process. Pop quiz, name the last two amendments to the Constitution...I was alive for neither of them. ---"

Well, considering that the last two amendments were in the past 36 years, and the last one within 16 years, that means that you are fairy young. As in not even of voting age. And here you are, an instructor at Eton or Groton or where-have-you. Quite impressive!

26th Voting age nationally established as age 18 July 1, 1971
27th Variance of congressional compensation May 7, 1992

"--- Given the makeup of the current congress that's very unlikely to happen, especially since it's likely that the dems will pickup seats in both houses. ---"

Which would tend to make Congressional acceptance of any strict-construction, socially conservative SCOTUS appointees looking to overturn Roe v. Wade even less likely. In a supermajority Democratic controlled congress, the best we'd get are centrist justices like Kennedy. Ergo, that particular route of trying to overturn the legalized butchering of unborn babies won't happen.

Also, that same leftist congress would also be the same one that would have the power to pre-empt the SCOTUS ruling on Roe v. Wade, as well as likely acting to squash any attempts at an anti-baby-murder amendment.

"--- So while you make think it's "half witted thinking", something you seem eminently familiar with, it's also the truth. ---"

I dunno, Sparky... *you* are the one who somehow thinks that McCain is actually going to overturn abortion. It simply isn't going to happen. It's just a wedge issue, a diversionary tactic: the train has long left the station for overturning Roe v. Wade like, three years ago, when we had GOP control over congress, the White House, and influence over the SCOTUS.

Damn I missed the 27th...my bad (mea culpa)...I'll forgive myself this time since it was proposed more than 200 years prior to its passage.

"No one woman, including ages from mid-twenties to 80's probably seem inclined at this point to vote the ticket of McCain/Paulin based on age at both ends (no pun intended!!!)"

Uh, you might want to elaborate, just to be fair.......pun intended
