DO NOT agree. I think the Republicans have screwed things up big time.

The Republicans HAVE screwed things up big time--for Obama.

It's a brilliant choice.

Yeah, she´s a woman, but we don´t even have to deal with the nasty identity politics side of it. The point is, Palin is an extraordinary woman. For starters, UNLIKE a certain guy from Chicago she used her time in office well and displayed a lot of courage going against her own party on corruption.

In their first comment on her selection, the Obama camp has dissed much of America that lives and votes in little places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc, with their nasty crack about McCain picking someone who merely served as mayor of a little town with only 9,000 citizens. What lead-footed morons; it leads one to think that Obama himself probably drafted the comment.

Well, Palin must be super-extraordinary to be able to take on the Presidency of the United States on a moment's notice and be ready to fit all of the criteria that McCain has been saying Obama lacks. Did it take the same amount of courage to fire her brother-in-law when her sister was divorcing him?

Not quite, beefer. She is running a state government.

"Did it take the same amount of courage to fire her brother-in-law when her sister was divorcing him?"

Say, beefer, you smell like a dirty old sock puppet, one whose been receiving strict instructions from Kos/Huff headquarters. Or do you know the next VP personally?

beafairy is just jealous. Ignore it.

Sweeetttt!!!

McCain shows again who is the crafty, in touch politician and Barry looks like a egomaniac after the Obamaopolis debacle last night.

Barry is so out of touch with middle America it's laughable!

Did someone read a teleprompter after the Douche Sprigsteen and Bon Blowme concert last night??? Not sure but the news had about 30 seconds about it today...

Biden is going to look like a smug arrogant wind bag next to this MILF!!!!

Debacle? That's funny - that kool aid must be really good.

From Pat Buchanan:

It was a genuinely outstanding speech. It was magnificent. It is the finest ... I saw Cuomo's speech. I saw Kennedy in 80. I even saw Douglas MacArthur. I even saw Martin Luther King. This is the greatest convention speech. Probably the most important because unlike Cuomo and the others, this is an acceptance speech. This came out of the heart of American and he went right at the heart of America. This wasn't a liberal speech at all. This is a deeply, deeply centrist speech. It had wit. It had humor. And when he used the needle on McCain, he stuck it into McCain, and it was funny as with Kennedy's speech in 80.

From Gallup:

Obama has clearly seen a rise in the polls since the convention began with a 4-point increase in his support (from 45% to 49%) with the margin moving eight points in his favor. Obama's largest advantage at any point in the campaign was a 9-point lead recorded July 24-26, so as his party's convention concludes, he is about as strongly positioned as he has been at any point this year.

Awesome pick...what a disaster for McCain, he just took Obama's lack of experience off the table. This pick is a clear attempt at picking up disaffected Clinton voters and it just isn't going to work.

I couldn't be happier...a GOP gov from corrupt Alaska machine??? YAY. Is she still under criminal investigation?

Man this is really great news. She is just what the McCain ticket needed. I can't wait until the VP debate and Biden tries to attack her. Biden's abusive and harsh attitude and loud mouth will drive many many women to the polls for McCain/Palin.
I am feeling really energized by McCain's bold pick. How about this woman Sarah Palin? Man she is just what the doctor ordered. Good looking and a mother of five. A husband who is a fisherman. I am loving Alaska for sending us this interesting achieving woman.
I can't wait for her and her family to move in the VP mansion in D.C.
Obama is Mr. Inexperience and Biden is old fashioned political hack with a big mouth. We now have the ticket to crush the Democrats like we did 4 years ago. It is all over Oprah you might as well get used to it. And get over it. Stars(McCain/Palin) fell on Obama today.

I'm wondering if Cindy McCain is taking this as a hint that McCain is looking for a younger model?

Wow President Carter it's interesting that you would quote a halfwit like Pat Buchanan. Do you honsestly think he represents normal thinking mainstream conservatives or more importantly middle America?

Anybody that saw the Temple of Doom show last night that isn't under the influence of drugs would clearly see it for the MTV crafted sideshow it was.

So you guys just go ahead and soil yourselves with your worship of "the One". Just don't expect those ex-Hillary women voters out there to follow your lead!

Don't like Buchanan? More conservatives for ya:

Bill Kristol – “Barack Obama faced very high expectations tonight and honestly I think he met them and I honestly think he exceeded them…He eloquently explained America’s promise. He explained why the Bush Cheney administration had fallen short of that…I thought it was an awfully impressive performance.

David Gergen – “In many ways it was less a speech than a symphony…It was a masterpiece”

Chris Wallace – “I thought it was an exceedingly smart speech in which Barack Obama played offense and defense very effectively.”

As for your pipe-dream that Hillary supporters are going to vote for McCain and help overturn Roe v Wade - now that's half-witted thinking.

You want to see deep deep despair. See Worst admiringly quoting Obama? No. Gore? No. Pat f-ing Buchanan. Ahahahahahahahaha.

I just love the Dem talking point that this pick takes "inexperience" off the table. Neither the Prophet Obama nor Clueless Joe have even run a hot dog stand but because they can utter pretty words Obama is the Redeemer of the Planet and Biden a working class hero. Geesh.

Pray tell, Dems, how many years was FDR governor of New York before he was your nominee for president?

You have now got a yackety-yack ticket and it is a proper reflection of your party: conceited autocrats preaching socialist treacle to designated boob victim groups. What a winning coalition!

"David Gergen – “In many ways it was less a speech than a symphony…It was a masterpiece”

Ahahahahaha. Gergen isn't a conservative, you knucklehead. And he ain't a music critic either. Peggy Noonan made fun of Gergen's idiocy on MSNBC and got the hosts laughing hysterically at the gloom and doom of the Dem message. To see it go to breitbart.com and look for the videos on the upper right.

Sarah Palin is a really great pick because she will energize the Republican base. The evangelicals already love her. The military will love her. I love her already. A real non Hillary woman. I was for McCain from the get go but now I am really for McCain/Palin. I can't wait to run down the street on election day and vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. You keep your Democratic team of unwashed rabble and I will vote my team: McCain/Palin m08. So we will win again and crush your weak candidates a la Kerry,McGovern,Dukasis,Mondale. Are you seeing a pattern there? Obama can con the public the way Bill Clinton did.

My..my..my..this is quite a surprise. If the Democrats attack Palin for lack of experience, they will attack themselves. Hell, they can't even afford to attack her at all. Checkmate, John.

The same holds true for the GOP temp, that's our point. How can you attack Obama for lack of experience when McCain picked a Veep candidate with even less experience?

"I was for McCain from the get go but now I am really for McCain/Palin." Oh, now you're "Really for McCain". Ok, Joeb, does that mean you get to vote for her twice?

This pick does nothing for McCain.

When does the legislative investigation of the governor go into full swing?

She's the VP, people don't vote for VPs - at least not since LBJ. She's literally unknown to most Americans. The response to her announcement from pretty much everyone outside Alaska is going to be a resounding "who?".

By picking someone younger and more inexperienced than Obama, McCain can no longer attack Obama on those points. It was his strongest argument against an Obama presidency and now it's gone for a virtual unknown.

Spartan and Worst:

The Presidency is not an apprenticeship. That is not so of the Vice-Presidency.

The strongest argument against Obama is that he has no executive experience and no record of accomplishment.

What has the Prophet Obama ever run other than his mouth? Mouthing things is not the same as doing things.

Stars(McCain/Palin) fell on Obama today.

Mwuhahahahaha- Good one!!

Say, beefer, you smell like a dirty old sock puppet, one whose been receiving strict instructions from Kos/Huff headquarters. Or do you know the next VP personally?

Posted by: Fred Beloit | Friday, August 29, 2008 at 01:10 PM

Now, Freddie, I thought your manners would be much better to a lady. ASMOF, I have never read Kos/Huff - have, though, seen Arianna Huffington on Larry King Live (assume that is the Huff part)

I would be a lot more impressed if the state were a little bigger - say New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts (I know- all Northeast - but that is what I know)

The Presidency is not an apprenticeship. That is not so of the Vice-The strongest argument against Obama is that he has no executive experience and no record of accomplishment.

-------------------------------
You mean like the current esteemed President George Bush?

Your liberal BDS is showing, befair, which leads me to believe you are nothing more than one of our resident trolls. So much for your "supposed" unafiliated status. Are all liberals liars, or do all liberals lie? That would be correct.

the difference between obama and her LADY PALIN is the difference between running for President and running for Vice President. In other words, just in terms of needed executive experience obama's resume is what is known as a target rich environment.

"Are all liberals liars, or do all liberals lie?"

I would change this to say:

"Are all trolls liberals, or are all liberals trolls"

They are all full of hate, they suffer from advanced cases of BDS, They really think it's okay to murder millions of America's defenseless babies and they are stupid enough to buy into Barry's MTV crafted hype machine.

But besides that they are just like you and me, only a lot meaner and more pissed off at the world!

It was just a rhetorical question, anyway, Sac. I knew the answer beforehand. Oh, well, it's off to the lake for me and the family. All have a great and safe holiday weekend, including our resident trolls and liberals.

Anyway, trools, we seem to like her for VP, ssooooo, hard cheese. She will be a compliment and adornment to the Senate. Are you really a lady, beefer? Or are you really a lady-beefer? Look anything like Palin, and finally do you live alone?

"The Presidency is not an apprenticeship. That is not so of the Vice-Presidency."

I'd like to introduce you to someone...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/jt10.html

The Vice Presidency IS NOT an apprenticeship. Particularly when you are talking about a potential of having the oldest elected president who also is a 4 time cancer victim.

Hopefully she'll bone up and figure out what the Veep does, and please stop saying "cool"

Someone needs to learn to keep her story straight.

Wow I just saw a picture from her Miss Alaska days! She is one prime time cougar! Or is that a VPILF!

It is nothing short of amazing that they are already attacking with the fired drunk driving, child tasering, moose cow killing ex Bro-in-law story.

Some troll mouthpiece even questioned her not taking care of her special needs baby cause she will be running for VP!

McCain show class by congratulating Barry last night and they jump right in with the attack dogs. Gotta love that whole change, hope, uniter stuff right about now!

Go ahead, change the subject Sacless.

Hey Sparky try the decaff next time will ya!

Must have been a busy day googling for hit pieces on the next VP.

Just give your boy Soros a few more days will ya. It takes time to make this shit up don't ya know.

Did you hear about her husband leaving the passion pancake on the fat chicks dress.. Oh sorry that was your boy Bill.

Daily Koz must be short one sock puppet troll today!

The leftist bloggers are completely missing the point on McCain's pick for VP. Not sure if they realized this but McCain does: They aren't voting for him so why would he want to select a VP that liberal bloggers are going to like? Didn't realize they were expecting him to select someone Daily Koz would celebrate. So really who cares what they think. Well I'd like to know what they really think but they're never going to write that.

The point they are missing is that McCain at best was expected to select someone that the base would be sorta be ok with. You know, no one to really get excited about. He had to just not totally screw it up basically. What he has done though is select someone that his base is just flipping for, not to mention it will also draw in some undecideds. Brilliant move. I haven't been excited about the GOP in a long time. I actually bought a damn bumper sticker man.

And to the pundits like Begala that point out his age and the number of times he's beat cancer while suggesting that Palin will be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Really sad. Stay classy Democrats, stay classy.

"Must have been a busy day googling for hit pieces on the next VP."

Busy? It took 5 seconds. If that's all it took me imagine the real dirt?

Spartan, you´re such a tool.

Wow Gordo, such insight.

She's a questionable pick at best that's all I'm saying. She's currently under an ethics investigation (is that a qualification for the GOP?) and she's on video telling two different stories not so good. She's got no relevant experience and her husband works for big oil...I'd say it's a good day for Obama.

"With all due respect again to Governor xxxxx, xxx been a governor for three years, xxx been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that xxx done. xxx was mayor of the xxxth largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to xxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town. So if he were to pick Governor xxxxxx, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?"

Ok folks who said it, and who were they talking about.

Sparticus, in Worst's opinion it was either Pat Buchanan talking about David Gergen or topsy turvy.

Nope, here's a hint...he's commonly known in the WH as Turd Blossom.

Wow, Spart, I'm impressed. I suppose you had lunch with the Pres recently. Is that where you heard the inside skinny? Or did Huff'nstuff write about it?

Let me try another name, a former Governor, Jim Carter. Turd Blossom works for me.

Insult all you want Fred, but just 3 weeks ago Karl Rove went on national TV and old the nation that Gov. Tim Kaine was not qualified to be VP because he had only been Gov. for 3 years (longer than Palin) and prior to that his only exec. experience was being mayor of Richmond (25x larger than Wasilla).

The pick is a riot. While trying to pick up disgruntled HRC voters McCain has likely just pushed them to Obama. The fact that she has 2 X chromosomes isn't enough to fool them.

Thing is after watching some Youtube clips of her last night I realized the Obama campaign isn't going to have to go after her at all. Ignore her, she'll sink herself by calling everything "Cool"...

That and her ethics investigation is due to close just prior to the election and even if they can't pin anything on her directly there's already enough evidence that a number of people who worked for her (including her Husband) were pressuring her ex-brother-in-law's boss to fire him. So much for her being an ethics reformer.

What does this pick say about McCain? What does it say about his judgement? His pick was a reaction, not a selection based on anything the country really needs. What does she really add to the ticket besides a vagina?

There's already a joke going around...McCain ALWAYS picks the younger woman.

Let's go with someone who knows her - State Senate President Lyda Green who's even from the same hometown as Palin. And when you live in a town under 10,000 - all the powerplayers know each other well.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/51152.html

Spartan:

Man you Dems are a class act.

If you are a dem, everyone needs sensitivity training lest they hurt someone's feelings, except of course Dems, who are on another moral plane of righteousness and can say whatever foul stuff they like about their opponents.

Just like most every poltical campaign, what you say and what you do don't jibe.

Fire a rogue cop? Why would any governor want to do that?
