Via NewsBusters today it's Andrea Mitchell hinting that Senator John McCain may have "cheated" at the Saddleback Civil Forum.
MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that -- what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.

Was Bush packing Wi-Fi in TV debate?
Miraculous clarity arouses suspicion
It's shameful and shamefully obvious what's going on here, it actually somewhat began with Reagan. Call the Republican candidate dumb, or not sharp enough until it begins to sink in. Then, when they debunk that myth by besting the Democrat one on one - well, it had to have been cheating.
It's a good thing Obama is intent on running such a noble campaign and not resorting to those nasty tricks we know only Republicans play.
Pity the dumbest of the lot here seems to be the media that either goes along with this garbage out of passion, or lacks the intelligence to grasp what's going on and point it out.

Who's the elitist? McCain is the son of an admiral who was the son of an admiral. He got into Annapolis on a legacy admission. (Got proof?)
Cindy McCain's worth something north of $100 million dollars. She bought him a pair of $500 Italian loafers. (no straight guy I know would deliberately shell out that kind of $dough for fancy-prancing shoes) He travels the country in Cindy's private jet. She owns at least 8 houses worth millions of dollars.
Did I mention he's an adulterer? (Several times. And Obie was a drug abuser who has ties to Marxists.)

FIXED!
Of course, you all could vote for Dr. Chuck Baldwin, and help elect a president who has neither committed adultery nor practiced sorcery (drug abuse) nor cut shadowy deals with commies.

Hey Jimmy,
"Cause he graduated Harvard Law magna cum laude."
Not every Harvard student was as much of a bookworm as "the One",

Harpo's already got your "Manchurian Candidates" resume going furthur up the post so you may want to just add to it.
Saturday night he got taken to school by Johnny boy. You know in life there's book smart and there's street smart.
McCain's real life experiences in the military and the Senate dwarf the gilded accomplishments of "the One" no matter how much you guys try and embelish them.
Barry should stick to the Community Organizer stuff because he sucks at the jobs that are "above his paygrade"

Warren's asked a simple question "What's rich?". Here's the Straight-Talk-Express's answer:
“Some of the richest people I’ve ever known in my life are the most unhappy. I think that rich is — should be defined by a home, a good job and education and the ability to hand to our children a more prosperous and safer world than the one that we inherited. I don’t want to take any money from the rich. I want everybody to get rich. I don’t believe in class warfare or redistribution of the wealth. But I can tell you for example there are small businessmen and women who are working 16 hours a day, seven days a week that some people would classify as, quote, ‘rich,’ my friends, who want to raise their taxes and raise their payroll taxes. Let’s have — keep taxes low. Let’s give every family in America a $7,000 tax credit for every child they have. Let’s give them a $5,000 refundable tax credit to go out and get the health insurance of their choice. Let’s not have the government take over the health care system in America. “So I think if you’re just talking about income, how about $5 million. But seriously, I don’t think you can — I don’t think, seriously that — the point is that I’m trying to make here seriously — and I’m sure that comment will be distorted, but the point is — the point is — the point is that we want to keep people’s taxes low and increase revenues. And my friend, it was not taxes that mattered in America in the last several years. It was spending. Spending got completely out of control. We spent money in a way that mortgaged our kids futures. My friends, we spent $3 million of your money to study the DNA of bears in Montana. Now I don’t know if that was a paternity issue or a criminal issue, but the point is — but the point is it was $3 million of your money. It was your money. “And you know, we laugh about it, but we cry and we should cry because the Congress is supposed to be careful stewards of your tax dollars. so what did they just do in the middle of an energy crisis when in California we are paying $4 a gallon for gas, went on vacation for five weeks. I guarantee you, two things they never miss, a pay raise and a vacation. And we should stop that and call them back and not raise your taxes. We should not and cannot raise taxes in tough economic times. So it doesn’t matter really what my definition of rich is because I don’t want to raise anybody’s taxes.”

Right, that's why at the Naval Academy, bastion of Liberal Politics, McCain graded out at the bottom 5% of his class.
More likely, McCain was a lousy student and Obama stellar.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 02:52 PM
Personally, I stick with stuff I know to be irrefutable facts:
1. McCain's an adulterer - he's admitted it himself - leaving his wife for a woman 17 years younger who also happened to be rich.
2. He graduated at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy - 894th out of 899.
3. He's worth $100,000,000 plus that he got the old-fashioned way - he married into it.
4. He flies around the country in his own corporate jet.
5. He has at least 8 homes scattered around the country worth millions of dollars.
6. He likes to wear $500 Italian loafers - Ferragamos I believe
7. He sold his vote in the Keating affair.

"Getting good grades in college/university is as easy as towing the leftist/marxist party lines that the profs feed you - especially if the course is some soft discipline in the "humanities and liberal arts" (they ain't called liberal arts for no reason)."
Getting good grades at Harvard Law easy? And you say I'm reaching?
Posted by: Spartan112 | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 03:39 PM
I detect some socialist bias against the rich, I don't say if I do.
And Obama wasn't exactly born in a mud hut with a dirt floor either.
Funny though, how a supposedly ig'nant buffoon like McCain totally handed Obama's elitist, over-edge-jah-muh-cated ,Arugula-chompin' head back to him after totally stompilating him in that "debate".
Not that I care for either of them becoming our POTUS, but it does tend to shatter the aura of Messiahdom that the press has built up around him.
Methinks that Obama will be as much hamburger meat in a REAL head-to-head, extemporaneous debate.

"--- Getting good grades at Harvard Law easy? And you say I'm reaching? ---"
If you are smart enough to get to Harvard Law, you are likely a good little leftist.
And the best leftists will generally be more likely to get the better grades; the marxists have had American academia on lock-down since the 1960s, and likely going back as far as the 1930s - especially in such subjective and humanistic fields of study as Law and philosophy and other vanities - I mean, "humanities".
Posted by: seekeronos | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 03:44 PM
Oh lord seek...you're one of those bitter continuing ed students aren't you..."All the lefty profs hate me and are out to get me..." Guess what? They couldn't care less what your leanings are, but keep telling yourself that's what it's all about. The truth has a liberal bias...
Posted by: Spartan112 | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 03:53 PM
Seek, you're bitter. You couldn't go to Harvard like the One, and blah..blah..blah.
And let me clue you in on something, Sparty, I would rather have an experienced man from the Naval Academy than any twit who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard, period. If he graduated from Harvard he is most likely indoctrinated with a worldview that is anti-American, and we don't need a President like that. Ever.

I really love the trolls and their lists:
"Personally, I stick with stuff I know to be irrefutable facts:
"1. McCain's an adulterer - he's admitted it himself - leaving his wife for a woman 17 years younger who also happened to be rich."
Easy answer here. Hot, Rich, Cougar!
next,
2. He graduated at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy - 894th out of 899.
Key word here is "graduated". 1st or 894 it just shows he was still smarter than those other 5 guys!
3. He's worth $100,000,000 plus that he got the old-fashioned way - he married into it.
see answer to #1 above,
4. He flies around the country in his own corporate jet.
see answer to #1 above,
5. He has at least 8 homes scattered around the country worth millions of dollars.
man this is gettin old but, see answer to #1 above,
6. He likes to wear $500 Italian loafers - Ferragamos I believe
Hey I like my $200.00 Ecco's. They last way longer and are much more comfortable than any shoe I've ever worn. maybe I should check out those Italian jobs, thanks for the plug!
7. He sold his vote in the Keating affair."
Proof? You know convictions things like that!

Well seek, since your criteria for president seems to be the dumber the better - anyone smart enough to get into Harvard Law is definitely out - you've found your man in McCain. 894th out of 899 seems to fit your needs to a T.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 04:31 PM
This just gets more comical by the minute. The Nutroot News Networks have gone crazy. How could a senile old man make their candidate look like a schoolboy? Well, nutroots, it was easy, they took the teleprompter away from Obama. Mean old Republicans!

"If he graduated from Harvard he is most likely indoctrinated with a worldview that is anti-American"
Are we talking about GWB?
"1st or 894 it just shows he was still smarter than those other 5 guys!"
You should right campaign slogans.
As for him being a successful naval leader...really? How so? The guy crashed how many planes? Was known to fly gov't jets on personal business, etc. How is that success?
The guy is a typical GOP leader, he's managed to fail up. Yet another way he's like W.

"--- Oh lord seek...you're one of those bitter continuing ed students aren't you... ---"
Bitter? Give that one to Jesus, and He will replace it with joy.
As for CE, I've done that too, but hadn't noticed too much of liberal agenda in my given field of study (IT/programming related courses tend not to delve into the deep things of political science, or leave much room for debates on morality).
However, in my youthful, foolish, pre-Christian collegiate days, even then I noticed that taking the more left-wing side of any given issue brought up for discussion *usually* worked regardless of the actual intellectual merits or presentation of the talking points. Typically this was most observable in "humanities" coursework, the sort of generalist "core" courses most colleges require of first two years.
Meanwhile, the one somewhat-older than the class average Marine student or former service member or other conservative in the class who took even a moderate right-wing view, and did so with a disciplined, well-thought out thesis was often discouraged or even put down by the prof, who was most likely a very effete old man, or some stoner reject who had been ensconced in the Ivory Tower since the late 60s or early 70s.
"--- Well seek, since your criteria for president seems to be the dumber the better... ---"
There's more to a man than the letters after his name, or the school from which he got them.
McCain might not even be close to the brightest bulb the Naval Academy ever produced, but what he lacks in academic potential he certainly makes up for in experience, personal courage, and people skills, not to mention the dozens of years he has been in touch with political reality, as opposed to this wet-behind-the-ears young pup from Harvard who connived and muscled his way, ala Chicago street-brawling style into local and state politics.
The trouble with eggheads like Obama, Adlai Stevenson, Woodrow Wilson, and others like them, is that they think too much with their heads, and forget to consider the heart and souls of their fellow Americans. They want to solve everyman's problems, with high-fallutin' ideas, but the best we can realistically hope for is that we provide a solution that works for most people.
In so doing, we must not neglect the simpler things that have always worked so well in the past, if applied with steadfast discipline.
The Eggheads think that they can save the world and make it safe for "democracy", when all the worlds really needs is to be saved by Jesus unto eternal life. But, say the interventionists and the ne'er-do-well Eggheads who simply must embark on their bold quests for the sake of humanity: for if Woodrow Wilson had minded his own business and stayed out of the European's Great War, Germany would have wrested its own "place in the Sun" from Britain, wearing her down to a resolution which might have left a smaller chunk of France under the Kaiser's rule, the Hochseeflotte able to call port beyond Denmark, and a then-young Austrian Corporal without an excuse, or a reason to exercise his madness upon millions.
In fact, had we not intervened, those mad dog Bolshevists may well never have attained to power, or if so, they would have been constrained by the Kaiser's Reichswehr on one side, the Austro-Hungarians on the southern flank, and perhaps the Japanese Empire in the Pacific, thus preventing that madman Stalin from committing the slaughter of untold millions on his account, and perhaps freeing Japan, Germany, and Britain to their designs in China, to check the young Maoists from ever attaining power there.
Instead, we let Wilson deceive us with his calls to make the world "safe..." - and permitting his administration to make much ado of German U-Boat activities and the Zimmerman telegraph, whilst British plans for an invasion through Canada into the CONUS and British Naval impoundments of US ships (and confiscation of their cargoes) heading through contested waters were conducted in what amounted to as little more than high-seas piracy.
History largely teaches us that Eggheads are both in fact and in practice, eminently unqualified to sit as POTUS.
The same could be said of Mr. Bush, whose intellect is often mocked as sub-human, but in fact, he was a graduate of both Yale and attended Harvard, and is reckoned to have a rather high intellect despite comic caricatures and chronic media-accentuated gaffes. His designs to bring "democracy to the oppressed Iraqis" and to regime-change the Taliban and lift them into the 21st century has been at a grave cost to our own prosperity.
As for the POTUS, his job is to work for and advance America's people and interests first and foremost: to do that well, he must have a firm understanding of what the heart of the American people is concerned with.
