Via NewsBusters today it's Andrea Mitchell hinting that Senator John McCain may have "cheated" at the Saddleback Civil Forum.
MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that -- what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.
Flashback to the Presidential Debates 2004 via The Register:
Was Bush packing Wi-Fi in TV debate?
Miraculous clarity arouses suspicion
It's shameful and shamefully obvious what's going on here, it actually somewhat began with Reagan. Call the Republican candidate dumb, or not sharp enough until it begins to sink in. Then, when they debunk that myth by besting the Democrat one on one - well, it had to have been cheating.
It's a good thing Obama is intent on running such a noble campaign and not resorting to those nasty tricks we know only Republicans play.
Pity the dumbest of the lot here seems to be the media that either goes along with this garbage out of passion, or lacks the intelligence to grasp what's going on and point it out.

Man this witch spends more time attacking anyone that questions "the One" than the New York Slimes! If it's possible maybe even more than Chris Matthews.
CNN and MSNBC are worthless sources of information and have become nothing more than mouthpieces for "the One's" campaign.
That loser Chris character from the "Breck Boy's" campaign that has been on Fox lately is quite possibly the stupidist moonbat media hack since Keith OlberFührer . Are there any folks from the left leaning news sources with any credibility left.
The reporters from the National Enquirer look like Pultzer prize winners compared to these slimeballs!

I've been around awhile. I remember Truman. This is an old line in the Dem's playbook: "The President's a dummy and the Attorney General's a crook". First time I heard it was Eisenhower and Brownell. That one's only 50 years old. The rest of it goes back 20 years before the single-wing was all the rage in football.

Barak Obama said he would go on the O'Reilly Factor "after the primaries." Apparenly he meant "a few years after" the primaries.
Generally, Mr. Obama appears only in "friendly" forums. Whenever anyone actually challenges him, it is "unfair" or "irrelevant" or something else.
Obama turned down the McCain idea for numerous debates because he'd have to work without a net too much!
Posted by: Yevgeni Stepanov | Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 08:57 PM
I thought Obama did very well compared to McCain who sought only to drop as many names as possible and spoke only in platitudes.
Posted by: Spartan112 | Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 09:54 PM
What I don't understand is that Obama, speaking in a church, before the American people, is out of his element while McCain is in a "Comfort Zone".
What happened there?

Not even close. The media knows exactly what they are doing.
It's the knuckledragging GOPers taking the gold in the dumbest of the lot. Unbelievable, a candidate who has voted 95% in line with a 25% approval rating President who openly promises to continue the same failed policies is even close to making it a contest.
Americas biggest enemy is ignorance and ignorance has taken over the GOP.

I love liberals.
It's never their candidates, their platform or their ideas but rather nefarious Republican plots which make people turn against them.
Comedy gold from the MorOn.org party.

@jharp: "Unbelievable, a candidate who has voted 95% in line with a 25% approval rating President who openly promises to continue the same failed policies is even close to making it a contest."
Another guy who seems to think that saying "failed policies" makes it so. And who thinks that "approval ratings" mean something important about policies rather than execution.
Bush is no Reagan, but neither is he a Carter. He's a fair to middling president who got two big things right - tax cuts, which have increased government revenues, and the war, which he has successfully prosecuted despite interference from the judiciary and public resistance from the Democrats - which somehow never translates into thwarting what Bush wants.
So why does McCain do so well? Maybe it's because people don't actually disagree with Bush on what he wants to do. Maybe the rhetoric of the Democrats and their allies in the press have made them think that Bush isn't doing those things as well as he should. Maybe they think that McCain will do those things better. And maybe they think that Obama won't do them at all.
Posted by: punditius | Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 11:36 PM
Or maybe because Americans understand that Obama belongs to a party that has dropped congressional approval into the single digits.
Posted by: Lutefisk Nation | Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 11:44 PM
"who got two big things right - tax cuts, which have increased government revenues"
Surely you jest. He added 4 trillion to the national debt that you and I have to pay back. And please don't forget the $200 billion in interest payments.
"and the war, which he has successfully prosecuted"
$1 trillion, 4,100 dead, tens of thousands Americans wounded (many maimed for life), to hand Iraq over to Iran.
Heckuva job! George.
Put the pipe away before you post. You are hurting America.

Always the other party is "dumbfucks" while the DFL is populated by the brainiacs. Yeppers, liberals gots theyselves all the right words to really hammer home the debate.
I wonder if the Tinted John Edwards can recover from his, "Uhhhh...that's above my paygrade" fiasco. I'm betting not, the empty suit is starting to run out of excuses for being such a fool.

Yeah, and it's only going to get worse. I am astounded at the fucking stupidity of our country. Not saying Obama is perfect but holy fuck! 4 more years of George Bush. Unbelievable.
"Your boy looked pathetic last night. "the One" is really starting to get off script and show what a weak, no substance socialist he is!"
He is not a socialist you ass. And I didn't watch so I have no comment.
"Maybe time to go have another drink!"
Good idea. I think I will. And heading back to the woods for the month of Sept. Gotta do my part to help repay the $4 trillion the GOP pissed away.

But you sure do have a high and mighty opinion of yourself, as a voter for a guy who can barely get a few sentences out of his double-talking mouth coherently, without the aid of either a teleprompter or his cue cards.

"--- 4 more years of George Bush. Unbelievable. ---"
Ah, good old reliable moonbat talking point #3: "McCain = Bush 3"
Um, I must disagree. McCain is far more liberal than Bush could ever hope to be. Especially if he goes with Tom "Baby Killer" Ridge as his VP pick.
He's a rare stripe of Rockefeller Republican that might even make Tricky Dick Nixon turn in his grave.

When you use the pural "speakers" do you mean speakers like his "we are who we have been waiting for" "speakers"
You really didn't watch "the One" last night did you?
One whole hour of dancing around the topic with close to a hundred "uh"'s
I "uh,uh,uh,uh want to uh,uh say this uh about uh that!
Here you are ready to defend this losers ability to speak but don't bother to actually hear him in public!
No script at work, he had to use his own words last night and stammered like a stoner at a Dead concert.

"Here you are ready to defend this losers ability to speak"
You, SacTown, are delusional.
Obama rose from a middle class family to become the President of the Harvard law review, an Illinois state Senator, a U.S. Senator, and the democratic nominee for the leader of the free world. Something no other black man in the history of the world has done.
And he's a loser?
Are you on dope?

"--- He was the President of Harvard Law Review for christsakes. And did it by himself. He's probably the most eloquent and forceful speakers since JFK.

Indeed I do, and how am I bearing false witness?
The man can't speak extemporaneously to save his life.
Take away the cue cards and the teleprompter, and let him speak to defend his own position in front of a camera in front of several million viewers who may have a small impact on what margin that determines if he becomes POTUS ... and he chokes.
Sure he may be a bright guy, but he's done everything the socialists, the ACORNistas, the NAACP, and his handlers throughout the years to get to where he is... and yet all that plus his finely honed Chicago backstabbing politicking ways may not be enough to get - as you so eloquently put it... the majority of us NASCAR-watching, Bible-believing, gun-clinging "bitter" dumb**** Americans to vote for him.
So what, Obama was the editor of the Harvard Law Review, and is a pointy-headed professor type (or was) ... he's a smart guy who knows the right people. If you have that, nearly anything is possible in this world... though it may not be eternaly profitable.
I also have a 145 IQ, but that and a $1.50 will get me a cup of coffee in the morning, and maybe a newspaper if I ask nicely.
Posted by: seekeronos | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 02:03 AM
"Are you on dope?"
No Harpo, Barry has a lot more experience in that area!
You left "community organizer" off of your resume for "the One".
A man of such substance needs every little bit of help he can get!
You mean the poor strugling bank VP grandma that sent Barry to one of those middle class private schools he went to in Hawaii.
You know back when Barry was Barry!
How many papers/articles did he publish while editor?
He did do a great job arguing to kill live birth abortion babies as a State Senator. Can't have those pesky little Downs babies mucking things up. He also did do a good job of getting rid of the competition to get elected in the first case.
Name any major accomplishments he has made in his many months of experience as a US Senator.
Look we all get the script, you moonbats continue to work hard at creating a background for your little "Manchurian Candidate" but after last night it's pretty obvious you may need to pad it just a little bit more!
Unfortunately this job is just a little "out of his paygrade"!
Posted by: SacTownMan | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 02:08 AM
For a couple of seconds after being asked a difficult or unexpected question, Mr. Obama looks like a deer who wishes the headlights would turn into a teleprompter.

WTF? Since when was middle-class something you "rise" from? Oh, wait, that's right -- this is the modern Democrat party, where middle-class is considered just a hair above living in a one-room dirt-floored cabin.

Credentials don't make the man, jharp.
If empty suits weren't able to rise to positions of influence ... academia, the MSM, and Congress would be virtually unpopulated.
I expect more from a President ... I expect wisdom.
And I'm not going to get that from a former community activist, beholden to socialists with decades of failed policies in their wake, who considers himself a "citizen of the world" where much of that world does NOT "hold these truths to be self-evident" from our Declaration of Independence as we do.
He is the Big 0 ...

According to the letter McCain's campaign manager wrote in response to the accusation of McCain not being in the "cone of silence"
"The fact is that during Senator Obama's segment at Saddleback last night, Senator McCain was in a motorcade to the event and then held in a green room with no broadcast feed."
Ok, cool...when he got to the venue he was in the green room with no access...great...but what about while in the motorcade? Davis actually confirms the accusation.

And does one kick that ass while wearing Ferragamo shoes?
Funny, even the Fox news commentators said immediately following Obama's hour that he had done very well and was impressive. They picked a couple of points out that they thought McSame could make some hey with but none said he gave a bad performance. I find it humorous that the right wingers are now claiming he's some kind of stuttering fool. Run scared wingers...we're coming for you money to pay for our gay-marriage, head start, planned parenthood, aclu lovin' programs...head fer dem dere hills!

That's fine, but again McCain's own campaign manager admitted that his boss wasn't sequestered as had been agreed upon. I'm not saying he got the questions ahead of time (it would be sad if he did because his answers weren't all that impressive) but there is the appearance of impropriety.

Posted by: JustOneMan | Monday, August 18, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Got any proof Obama was accepted into Harvard due to affirmative action? Or are you must making s*** up? Cause he graduated Harvard Law magna cum laude.
Let's compare that to McCain who went to Annapolis and graduated at the bottom of his class - 894th in his class of 899 - ouch! How'd such a bad student get in? Well, McCain's father had gone to Annapolis and was an admiral under Nimitz. McCain's grandfather was also an admiral. Gee, think that helped any?
So if you want to argue about who was the recipient of "affirmative action", or who was the poorer student, McCain is the One!

Who's the elitist? McCain is the son of an admiral who was the son of an admiral. He got into Annapolis on a legacy admission. He's worth something north of $100 million dollars. Wears $500 Italian loafers. Travels the country in his private jet. Owns at least 8 houses worth millions of dollars.
Did I mention he's an adulterer?

Getting good grades in college/university is as easy as towing the leftist/marxist party lines that the profs feed you - especially if the course is some soft discipline in the "humanities and liberal arts" (they ain't called liberal arts for no reason).
Hard sciences and applied technology courses might rub raw against Creation, but aside from that, you can get by in those courses w/o being a card carrying commie.
And you might even find a few right-leaning profs in business and economics majors.
