Good friend Jon Henke has a post denouncing Jerome Corsi up at The Next Right - calling for the Right to basically banish Corsi. Truth be told, other than seeing his name linked to this inflammatory statement, or that - I don't know anything of him and have never read a single word he's written. But there is something of a problem here, I believe.
Jerome Corsi is a smear artist (e.g., he has claimed that "Hillary Rodham Clinton is a lesbian and Muslims worship Satan").
Jerome Corsi has advocated the hysterical, deceptive North American Union conspiracy theory.
Jerome Corsi associates with white supremacists.
Jerome Corsi is guilty of plagiarism.
Jerome Corsi is a 9/11 Truther.
I've watched and read for almost eight years as former Vice President Al Gore denounced our current President while overseas, claiming he "betrayed" this country.
I have watched and read any number of Democrats suggest that Bush and Republicans intentionally left black people in New Orleans so they would die. I won't even get into Obama's recently dismissed Pastor and his vile rhetoric on Aids - and 9/11.
I'm constantly being called racist or homophobic simply because I don't believe in elevating any one group, or special interest over another in public affairs.
And the slurs I see coming at the Right don't just come from authors, or blog comments - they are routinely uttered by people with names like Schumer, Reid and Pelosi.
When Jerome Corsi, whoever the hell he is, turns up on some ballot with an R behind his name ... well, then maybe I'll care.
Until that happens, I have a better solution - don't buy his book.

I haven't read the new book but if it turns out as truthful as 'Unfit for Command' then we can understand why the democrats are in a tizzy. No one should Swiftboat (tell the truth) about a democrat, but when you being out 100% proof they lied, or they finally admit their lies, you're the bad guy for 'making' them tell the truth. The democrats prove daily that a college degree without an education is a waste of a sheet of paper, and destruction of another tree.

Say what you want Dan, but Corsi's book is being pushed by the Right. In fact the only reason it's #1 on the NYT's bestseller list is because it's being purchased en masse by a number of conservative groups. No less than Mary Matlin (formerly of VP Dick Cheney's staff) calls it a work of great scholarship...funny, when was the last time you read a book of "great scholarship" where the author cited himself in 9 of his first 11 footnotes? The guy is a hack and a schill put forth by the right wing to smear Obama in the same way he smeared Kerry.
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:42 PM
Oh, and say what you will, but I saw the aforementioned book advertised on this very site so whether you like it or not you are offering your support to it.
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:44 PM
Well, Spart - I have less tolerance for Matlin, than I might have for Corsi - if I actually knew who he was.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:46 PM
He was the co-author of the swiftboat book and you don't know who he is? His book has been advertised on your website and you don't know who he is?
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:49 PM
"so whether you like it or not you are offering your support to it."
Cool, must have missed it. I have seen the ads for Obama and also some Muslim Education and dating sites. Are you suggesting I advocate for them, too?
lol Don't make it so easy Spart - just because it's Friday, that's no excuse.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:52 PM
So you're admitting to having no standards? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Give Corsi and nice set of legs and a pretty smile and you'd have Michelle Malkin. Give him a bigger Adams Apple and a bad dye job and you'd have Ann Coulter. You righties love your lying smear artists.
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:55 PM
Spart - look, believe it or not, no. Never read the swiftboat book. I said I've seen his name - linked with that, perhaps. But I quite honestly have never given Corsi any thing. Nor do I expect to going forward, one way or the other.
I simply don't care. Now, how bout apologizing for Howard Dean and His Republicans in a hotel comment. Or Gore calling Bush a traitor - Kucinich et al with the war criminal crap.
Oh, I see - in your mind that's all true - so WTF, right?
Uh huh, sure.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 04:55 PM
There's a bit of a difference between political posturing and someone writing a "scholarly" book passed off as the truth that is being used to destroy the character of a candidate. I could find an equal amount of examples (Phil Graham once said "people will be hunting democrats with dogs by the end of the century").
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 05:00 PM
You are right that Corsi is a nobody and allowed to publish as he pleases.
What gets the lefties in a tizzy is half the knuckledragging GOPers believe it. It's a real shame and hurting our country.
Posted by: jharp | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 05:01 PM
Actually we don't care if ALL the GOP'ers believe it. They won't be voting for Obama anyway, what bothers us is some bigot with GOP backing and a racist agenda with the letters PhD behind his name may have some influence on "undecided" voters.
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 05:06 PM
All well and good, Spart. But it seems I trust people to make up their own minds a little more than you , I guess.
As for people "supporting" Corsi - they'll have to speak to that themselves.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 05:17 PM
from mediamatters.org
Corsi on Catholicism: "Boy buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press"

Wow Dan, a few days go by with little whinning from the trolls and then BAM they crawl out from under their rocks and piss themselves.
This guy was interveiwed on Hannity and Clones earlier this week. Number one on the NY Slimes and because he questions "the One" he gets the full Daily Koz whinefest. Maybe Harpo and Sparky should get a hanky and wipe up some of their spittle.
How about the actual subject of his book in which he chronicles the last 10 "missing" years before the Manchurian Candidate suddenly was shoved down the American peoples throats. He goes into detail concerning the links to Wright, Rez, Acorn and his other socialist associations from his Community Organizing days in Chicago. He spends time discussing his early socialist mentors and because his subject is untouchable in the MSM the trolls are beside themselves.
Maybe we should all just wait for the last bastion of American print journalism, The Enquirer, to come out with the truth like they did about the Breck Boy. There are millions of Americans that would like to know something more about "the One" other than he doesn't give the kids Christmas presents and can hit a three point shot!
The left's agenda is to just keep this pie hole under the radar until election day and just "wait it out". As long as the MSM just sits around and jerks off there are folks that aren't satisfied with the leftist script and have real questions about this POS socialist rock star.

You mean the "Actual subject" that has been fully debunked? That one? The guy is a filthy racist liar...he goes on one white-supremacist show (Hannity) and now he's off to another James Edwards. You wanna hitch your wagon to this guy? Go right ahead, we'll see how that pans out.
Do you want to know why the left is going full-court press on this buffoon? We are trying to avoid what happened with the swift-boat liars the last time around.

The better way to handle this would be for Henke to have pointed out that some of the things in Corsi's book are correct and to point out all those who've carried BHO's water on this issue. Instead, Henke sounds like someone who's carrying BHO's water.
Also:
1. Corsi has apparently denied being a truther (on a radio show today).
2. The fact that Corsi's worked to expose plans for a NAU - it's indisputable that some powerful forces want a NAU - probably plays a part in some peoples' attempts to smear him. Following the money isn't too difficult.
3. In order to bolster their claims about Corsi, the BHO campaign "creatively edited" one of his quotes.
Details on the last at my name's link; maybe Henke could push that instead.
Posted by: The details | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 09:00 PM
1. Corsi has apparently denied being a truther (on a radio show today).
If it looks like a duck...
"In a radio interview, Corsi said 'I'm gonna come out with a story, I think is gonna be earth shaking, and that is from Steven Jones, the physicist from BYU who's been dismissed. Well, he's now gotten samples of the World Trade Center dust, and he's demonstrated the dust has formed these spheres, these iron spheres, that can only be formed under extremely high temperatures. And I know enough about the science to know he's right. The fire, from jet fuel, does not burn hot enough to produce the physical evidence that he's produced. So when you've got science that the hypothesis doesn't explain--evidence--then the hypothesis doesn't stand anymore' "
Yeah, he's not a truther...
Posted by: Spartan112 | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 09:21 PM
Oh, and he's also denied being a racist, yet he's appearing on a white supremacists radio show AGAIN...one that was webcast on stormfront.org a real class group of guys.

I have the previews of both Corsi's Obama book and David Freddoso's The Case Against Barack Obama on my Kindle, and it looks like Freddoso's is much better, more detailed, and better research.
That said, I have only read the first chapter of each, so, we'll see. I'll probably buy the Freddoso one, seems better written, with no pretense of complete impartiality, like Corsi starts out saying.
But, as pointed out, Corsi did a hell of a job with his book on Kerry, and, his wackoness aside, if he has the facts on Obama, so be it.

"The fire, from jet fuel, does not burn hot enough to produce the physical evidence that he's produced."
Fracking tards. Pressure will heat stuff up and vaporize it too. These people are pathetic.
Posted by: PA | Friday, August 15, 2008 at 10:55 PM
That's odd! The quote from Spartan112 is the one I discussed in my last comment and that I also discuss at my name's link.
Spartan112 ended the quote just before Corsi said "It doesn’t mean there’s a new hypothesis you’ve validated". That sentence seems to change the quote a bit, no? And, in fact, that's the sentence the BHO campaign omitted entirely, without indicating that it had been omitted.
Are Spartan112, Henke, and the BHO campaign all reading from the same script?
Posted by: The details | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 12:59 AM
Hannity is a racist...? That's news to me.

"Are Spartan112, Henke, and the BHO campaign all reading from the same script?"
Does a bear shit in the woods?
Sparky here is just one of the latest in a long line of Sock Puppet trolls that linger here all day and impress us all with their complete lack of world knowledge. He showed up right after Harpo disappeared and has a similar habit of never including any links to original posters and uses a lot of cutting and pasting of other peoples words in his arguments. What do you say there Sparky?
Moments like these are called "profound revelations".
Most of our moonbat friends here read like a Daily Koz talking point memo. George Soros says jump and they say "how high".
Right Sock Puppets?

say, speaking of corsi and the swiftboaters, did kerry ever getting around to suing those guys for defamation like he said he would? like they dared him to? urged him to, *begged* him to??
no? how odd. wonder why not?
think obama will sue? no? not even talking about it? wonder why not? could it be because the things in corsi's books are right, and provable? could that be it?
Posted by: the asset | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 03:26 AM
"Hannity is a racist...? That's news to me."
If you were paying attention it wouldn't be. his radio mentor Bob Grant is pretty well known for his race lased diatribes and Hannity supported the 2000 congressional campaign of Hal Turner AFTER Turner came on his program and claimed "if it weren't for the white man that blacks would still be swinging from the trees in Africa."
Or this nugget: "Hannity repeatedly attacked Democratic candidate and Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante as a racist for refusing to renounce his association thirty years prior with the Chicano student group MECHA. Yet Hannity is silent about the racist affiliations of favored guests like Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, Mississippi Republican Governor Haley Barbour and former Republican Congressman Bob Barr, all of whom have spoken before gatherings of America's largest white supremacist group, the Council of Conservative Citizens"
He also considers himself a close friend of the well-known racist Mark Fuhrman. So if he's not a racist he certainly enjoys their company...maybe they have good snacks.
You'll also notice that when ever Hannity denounces racism it is almost always Blacks or other minorities that are being called racist. I don't know that I've ever heard him denounce Hal Turner or other White Supremacists like his friend Jerome Corsi. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

"think obama will sue? no? not even talking about it? wonder why not? could it be because the things in corsi's books are right, and provable? could that be it?"
No, it;s because defamation suits are very hard to prove and Corsi does exactly what you did in your post...frames everything as an open ended question so he can claim he never said anything like "Is Hillary Clinton a lesbian?"
It works great...has George W. Bush been on the receiving end of a gang bang lead by Jeff Gannon and Dick Cheney?...see, I haven't said anything derogatory towards our president I just asked a question...but now you'll wonder...has he?

Spart writes: "...his radio mentor Bob Grant is pretty well known for his race lased[sic] diatribes..."
I used to listen to Bob Grant regularly. He told truth to politically-correct power and they vilified him for it. He is no racist.

Americans prefer Obama's positions on pretty much all the major issues. So McCain can't win on the issues - the only path left to him is try to destroy Obama through lies and innuendo.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 01:01 PM
So, Worst, you are saying...what? McCain got Corsi to write a book about the Left-wing man of mystery? Please.
And, yes, let us return to the issues by all means: (1)More drilling for oil and more refineries to increase energy supplies, as well as continued research on alternative forms vs total reliance on pie in the sky, unproven schemes. (2)Emphasis on security nationally and internationally vs appeasement and weakness. (3)Capitalism yes...socialism no. (4) Lower vs higher taxes. (5) Smaller vs bigger government. (6)Keep the secret ballot for union elections vs let intimidation reign. (7) Incrementally improve our health care systems vs socialized medicine.
No Americans would vote for these positions? Fine, let the debate in town hall forums begin...oh, sorry, your man seems to be afraid of these forums.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 01:32 PM
"This month, voters trust Democrats more than Republicans on nine out of ten issues, including National Security."
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/trust_on_issues/trust_on_issues
This fall, Dems will pick up seats in the House and Senate. Whether Obama wins depends more on how successful attacks like Corsi's are than where the two candidates stand on the issues.
When the Swift Boat Vets attacked Kerry, McCain was one of the first to condemn them. His response to Corsi's Obama book has been to tell people to get a sense of humor, even though much of it is either lies or innuendo. This is the same guy that promised to run a campaign based on issues, not attacks and likes to drive around the country with s "Straight Talk Express" banner behind him.
Posted by: Worst President Ever | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 02:47 PM
"When the Swift Boat Vets attacked Kerry..." it was because they knew Kerry was a phony who came back here after his foreshortened tour in VN and defamed before the Congress every military person who had been in combat in VN.
I know about Kerry. I know Kerry was at least a U.S. Navy officer. Obama ain't no Kerry.
Now back to the issues. Americans want open debates about the issues. Obama doesn't.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 04:00 PM
Corsi's book is crap. He represents the absolute worst in politica - attempting to destroy a candidate through lies and innuendo. You don't like Obama's policies, fine. Attack them. Don't make crap up. The guy is repugnent.
McCain is terrible on camera and can't keep his answers straight. His quotes from the last week raise questions about whether he's just outright lying or doesn't have a clue about world history since the Cold War ended. Yeah, I think Obama should do the Town Hall debates since he'd mopped the floor with McCain - I think his decision not to do the Town Halls is more a result of traditional political rules where the front-runner always limits the number of debates. There will be the standard three debates plus the VP debate, so everyone should know the positions by the time the election rolls around.
