News You Can Trust, er, ... I Mean Bust!
These two fine folks were each making at least $700,000 dollars a year ... just to read the news at KYW-TV, the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia.
So he gets popped for hacking into her emails at work for over two years ... but, no worries, ... she was arrested in New York and fired last year.
PHILADELPHIA - A fired TV newscaster admitted Friday that he hacked into his co-anchor's e-mail accounts, pleading guilty to one count of illegally accessing a computer.
Larry Mendte admitted that he viewed hundreds of Alycia Lane's e-mails from March 2006 to May 2008, including ones from her agent, her then-husband and lawyers representing her after she was arrested in New York last year and fired from the station.
"There is no question he wrecked her career," said lawyer Paul Rosen, who represents Lane in her wrongful-termination suit against KYW-TV.
Mendte, 51, earned about $700,000 a year at the station. Rosen believes he became jealous of his younger co-anchor in early 2006 as her salary climbed to about $780,000. He bought a keystroke-logging device to get her passwords in August 2006, and intercepted e-mails from Lane's two personal and one work account, prosecutors said.
The Tiffany network, indeed

She complained to her employers that her email at work was getting passed around. It appears this guy hacked in to it, but you have to wonder why you are using your office computer to send, receive, and keep, highly confidential and non work related correspondence.

Jeeze. If she was making that kind of money she could have afforded to hire a computer consultant to secure her communications. Almost any fifteen year old could have done it for her.
Unbelievable what people skimp money on.

Chewy, she could also have kept her purse in a safe, locked every drawer of her desk and written only on single sheets of paper on a glass covered desk. Mostly, we go through our lives with some presumption that others will behave in sane and decent ways, mostly.

Their producer must be on suicide watch these days. These two maroons were doing quite well in the ratings before they both self destructed in such idiotic ways.

Forget about the issue of computer hacking. The more important question here is why and heck are these idiots being paid so much money simply for reading the news from a tele-prompter. $780,000? You gotta be kidding me.
