Good grief. Where do they find such pathetic twits to write this kind of drivel. Martin Luther King is probably turning over in his grave, they've so distorted that for which he actually stood.
It is infuriating that this Harvard and Princeton grad is forced to, in some sense, apologize for achieving what every family wants, what all parents work for their children to have, merely because her blackness causes anxiety in the same people who have claimed for years that all black folks need to do is "work hard" to succeed. When women like Michelle Obama do succeed, they're supposed to minimize their accomplishments so that certain people don't feel insulted. The talking heads never ask why, because white anxiety about black self-determination is self-justifying, even in 2008. Meanwhile, John McCain runs solely on his biography, as the press sits in a rapturous silence. "I used to be a POW" will not reverse the housing crisis, it will not bring health care to the uninsured, it will not regulate the credit card industry, it will not prevent the government from taking your laptop or tapping your phone with no evidence of wrongdoing. But you wouldn't know that from watching CNN....
Still, it would be nice if we could stop pretending that it wasn't happening, or if those so sensitive to Hillary's plight could look beyond their hero to see something else worth fighting for. Obama's electoral fate will be decided by his and Michelle's ability to caulk the fault lines of race and gender as best they can through both policy and language, while Republican Party does its best to keep these scars fresh. It is more than anyone should be asked to do.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not asking Obama or McCain to do anything, except perhaps try to keep government out of the way of freedom in the United States. And I don't begrudge the Obama's their success, not one bit. Sometimes I think the only thing that would satisfy hard core liberals is if they could somehow crawl back in the womb and be totally taken care of, again.
Oops, what am I saying. They're liberals. They'd stand as good a chance of being ripped out and discarded as they would being taken care of in some proverbial womb. Ain't life a biatch.
Harvard and Princeton grads, huge home and millions of dollars ... still, we must celebrate the Obama's victim hood in the end. Well, I'm not buying it. If the challenge is so great, then they should simply shut up and sit down.
Keep on hand wringing, liberals. That's why so many Americans reject you at the national polls every time.
Now if you'll excuse me ... there's only one way to get rid of this indigestible crap. And if you click the link, for heaven's sake don't swallow any of it. There might not be an antidote for that.

"liberals. That's why so many Americans reject you at the national polls every time."
Really. Is that right?
Lets see. 1992 elected Bill Clinton. 1996 again.
2000 Liberal Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the elector vote.
2004 the worst president in US history was re elected.
So I guess 1 out of 4 is every time in the riehlworldview thinking.

jharpie,
Hold my lunch box for a second, please. I want to point out something to you: "That's why so many Americans reject you at the national polls every time." is a valid statement. Prove it invalid and I'll let you eat my lunch.

Point well taken.
It'd be more accurate to say though a lot of Americans have rejected liberals at the national polls a majority of Americans have voted in favor of the liberal candidate in 3 out of the last 4 national polls.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Heh, notice how that works? Harp has Bill Clinton and Gore to work with, though Clinton was the only guy since 1980 to actually serve in office: eight years of twenty eight.
But hey, when the only tool you have to work with is a shovel, what else can you do but dig yourself a hole?

And who was the jackass around here positing that Hillary was going to throw Obama under the bus and divide the party?
Didn't quite turn out that way, huh?
Found it. It was none other than Dan Riehl himself.

I guess jharp is proof that dems really do act like sheep; he actually believes that the 45% of McCain-voting Hillary supporters will simply bow down and accept Obama.
Whack with the cluebat: The pissed-off PUMA's and such are still out there and will still be vocal about their non-support of Obama; they saw their female candidate brushed aside but they won't go with her. Lefty bitterness and divisiveness won't die with the Hillster gone.

"Jackass"? Uh oh, sounds like someone is still sweating the election. You can tell a lot about a person by the language they choose.
Has Obama lost any more points yet during his own convention?

Uh, Jharp - if you knew anything about politics, you'd hardly define Clinton circa 1992 as a liberal. You have heard of the DLC, right moron?
And as for the divisiveness? I stand by that quote. Gee, seems a shame the last sitting Democrat president appears to be snubbing pretty boys stadium speech. And that gambit turned out to be real smart in any event. He'll be a real "star." LOL
Watch and learn ... we'll even give special lessons for you guys on the short bus if you continue to hang around.
Oops - DLC

Do the Obama's appreciate anything in their lives or is what they have never enough? Bitter, party of two, bitter, party of two your table is waiting.

CNN just interviewed a Clinton delegate who was crying and saying that her speech was presidential speech and that she will vote as a delegate for Clinton. She said that experience speaks to her and BO has not connected.
Heh, party unity!

Oh man, Hillary is starting to look slyer than Bill ever was. I'm starting to think that perhaps she turned down Obama, rolling the dice on a McCain win and her return to the spotlight in 2012. Whew, yet another reason why I would be terrified to be married to her.

Oh, and again for Jharp - assuming he can rouse himself from his stupor after being smacked around. Even if Clinton ran as a liberal in 92 - which he did not - add the Perot vote to the Bush vote, clueless. I guess the liberals lost that one, too.
Oh want, it was the electoral college that year. The popular vote only mattered when Algore ran. lol
You fellas are so damn easy to take apart. I hope you're drunk tonight Jharp. Other wise, I honestly don't know how you manage to stand the pain of being you.

Go for it, Dan. It's your weblog after all.
And if it makes you feel any better 25% of Americans agree with you.

Democrat doesn't always = liberal (Blue Dogs)
Republican doesn't always = conservative (RiNOs/Rockefeller Repubs)

Clinton was no liberal. He only played one on TV.

Despite some of Vince's somewhat ... erm, forthright, if not politically incorrect remarks here on RWV in the past, he's spot on here.
Ms. Obama and her husband has little to offer this Republic, and much less I care to "celebrate" over.
If anything, even though I do not care much for McCain either, I'd be much more likely celebrate a McCain victory in November (though I'd much rather see Dr. Baldwin or even Bob Barr win :)
