Does Obama Have Obamania?
It really is beginning to appear as though Obama has surrounded himself with the same type of unhinged liberals one often encounters in comments on blogs, or running Lefty blogs. From a story on his upcoming Berlin speech ... they are acting as though they have this thing won.
“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.
“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.
You can tell by the coverage - Andrea Mitchell pointing out alleged interviews are fake, or staged, for example ... that the press has caught on to Obama and they are increasingly less impressed. In fact, I suspect they are beginning to grow tired of his ego strutting theatrics.
Don't be surprised if this clown wears out his welcome with the American people well before November. He lacks the experience and credibility to support the way in which he is packaging himself.
There's definitely a star effect going on. But Obama would be wise to remember that the American public loves nothing better than to build people up beyond reasonable expectations and then tear them down and watch them crash and burn. And when the public moves in such a way, they do it quickly.
I'm far from convinced an over-exposed, under-experienced candidate is the slam dunk salvation for the Dems some seem to think.

I swear, these Democratics always forget the cannolis.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
WOW! Yeah, that's it. Obama is just too confident in himself. Game over, man. Game over. This one is in the bag for McCain. I'm amazed the old man is even campaigning. He just needs to sit back and let the entire country come to its senses.

Ah, silly reactionaries who are thinking that they shall hold back the People's Revolutionary Democraticic Party!
You shall be crushed by our Great Leader's Revolutionary Might in November!
It is all but an accomplished thing, and we have our ACORN revolutionaries already working for our VICTORY, when at last, the Red flags of Socialism shall fly, and have their places in the sun.
Long live Comrade Obaaaaaaaa-ma, our Great Leader!

Just out of interest, Obama isn't overflowing with confidence because McCain is practically handing him the election, is he? I mean, it could be that the man is just a big-headed elitist asshole. Or it could be that McCain is merely an unworthy opponent.

You liberals who are here promoting your boy Obama 24/7 ought to be concerned. After all the gaffes McCain has made, his age, his lack of a base, and everything else that goes against this guy, he is still in this election, with Obama only leading by the margin of error in some polls. Your boy should have a 15-20 point lead right now, but does he? Does he? Ya'll probably should have stuck with Hillary.

Where is grandpa?? Is he even campaigning. Forget Bob Dole Part Deux, this guy is Fred Thompson Part Deux!!

Wait, I thought the Media was in the bag for Obama. Now they're not? Soooo confusing.
Gee, Andrea doens't get to play kingmaker. It must be very disappointing. Maybe she could go home and interview her husband - you know, Alan Greenspan - about the housing mess and the economy.
For you Fred:
Alan Abramowitz, a politics scholar at Emory University, has shown that summer head-to-head polls convey almost no information about the forthcoming election. (Subsequent head-to-head polls are not much better.) Instead, he has a simple “electoral barometer” that weighs together the approval rating of the incumbent president, the economy’s economic growth rate and whether the president’s party has controlled the White House for two terms (the “time for a change” factor). This laughably simple metric has correctly forecast the winner of the popular vote in 14 out of 15 postwar presidential elections.
...
The barometer says Mr Obama is going to waltz to victory.

It took awhile for the "I voted for the war before I voted against it" to really take hold and sink Kerry. Obama has made so many statements like this starting with "I have always said....and then stating a position completely opposite what he has said on the record sometimes just months previous. This will catch up with him as soon as the fall campaign really gets underway. Why should McCain waste money now when they are even, or even using the rcp average, within 4 points. He is going to have to debate McCain at some point and if the Terry Moran interview is any indication of his ability to speak off the cuff, he is doomed.

Yes, I agree. The primary problem with the Democratic Party is that we're not looking at a big enough landslide. Didn't Reagen sweep every state but Connecticut back in '84? Seriously, where is that momentum today? We're looking at a piddly 30 House seats and 6 Senate seats getting picked up in November, and frankly that's just embarrassing. How does the Democratic Party sleep at night knowing it will reap such a pathetic haul. Chuck Schumer and Rahm Emmanuel must be crying themselves to sleep every night.
Imagine if the GOP had picked someone who wasn't an old, unpopular guy with everything else against him? Mitt Romney would be kicking the pants off Obama's big muslim butt, right?

I woke up this morning to Barry's press conference in Jordan. No teleprompters and he had to actually answer questions from the press.
I never thought his handlers would let this happen.
He suffers from the worst case of .. the "uh"'s I've ever heard. His stuttering and frequent halts were continually punctuated by the curse of every public speaking teacher.
" I.. "uh" wanted to thank.. "uh" the troops for their.."uh" service... It was like fingernails on a chalkboard!
The "One" will actually have to participate in a debate some day despite his handlers scripted life. Hillary kicked his butt in the debates and that was with the piercing and probing CNN/MSNBC questions like "Diamonds of Pearls Hillary".
Maybe the press can finally start to do their job and ask even the most basic questions. The "One" may have to show his true self for once in this campaign. If that is allowed to happen the American people can see for themselves the reality that is the "community organizer" the MSM has shoved down our throats for so long.

You deadenders never fail to entertain. 8 years of the Cocaine Cowboy stuttering and stammering and being unable to speak in complete coherent sentences and now criticism of Obama. You guys are as pathetic as that old man.

Normally, your posts make sense, even when I disagree - but this one seems like you phoned in your comments. The MSM needs a horserace, so no matter what McCain does or says, it is dismissed as 'not important', 'irrelevant', 'McCain, just being McCain', 'he's authentic', etc... That keeps the talking heads chattering away, and employed. You know this as much as anyone - or you should.
Are you faking awareness of this to gripe about Obama? You used to have more vital things to say, but not so much anymore. You know the deal with the press and McCain. Just invite them to one of your 8 houses, and feed them. Invite them on your plane, but limit the best seats to the best watercarriers. Continue to lie about your accomplishments, and your opponents lack of qualifications - and the press just sits there misty eyed. It is a love fest between the MSM and McCain - you know that.
Buddy, this election is going to be a rout - and absolute pounding. The Republican brand name is finished for the forseeable future. That is good for America, and that makes me smile.....

Geez, if that's the biggest complaint you have about Obama, then he would be a million times better at public speaking than the current White House occupant. Hell, that's even significantly better than McCain and his parade of gaffes the last couple of months.

Awwww, Andrea Mitchell wasn't in on the Board Meeting that decided this week's media narrative about the race. How dare the evil, anti-American, leftist Defense Department manipulate this entire thing for the benefit of Obama. I bet they forged his birth certificate too!!

"--- Imagine if the GOP had picked someone who wasn't an old, unpopular guy with everything else against him? Mitt Romney would be kicking the pants off Obama's big muslim butt, right? ---"
Heh. Wishful thinking indeed. If Mitt hand won the primaries (or enough of them to make him the nominee) we'd be looking at a completely different picture, because it would have meant that the deep South supported his ideas over that of their "favoured son" Mr. Mike Huckabuck.
And if that were so, I fairly suspect that Mittens would have stompilated Obama in the general election polling.
I think it might have been interesting with Fred Thompson as the nominee, for no other reason than the man actually CAN speak when he is properly motivated... but motivation was exactly his downfall.
And pigs flew, I'd say that Dr. Ron Paul would have given the young Obama quite a run for his money, being a fiscal conservative, a non-interventionist, and a man with quite a bit more experience.

He reads from a teleprompter, chris. A teleprompter! Who does that?!
If you whine, I mean really grit your teeth and moan it out, you can reach the pitch necessary for any given American voter to give a damn.
Seriously, I can't wait for these debates. I just want to hear TK and Sac deconstruct them, because I know it'll be like listening to an entirely different debate.
"Obama clicked his jaw. I saw it! And then he rubbed his head. I think he's signaling terrorists."
"Did you see the size of McCain's lapel pin? That thing was huge. Oh, god... I need a moment."
"I'm writing in Mitt Romney, because he didn't say anything and he wasn't Barack Obama and that's all I really need in a GOP candidate."

Very amusing, Worst: "This laughably simple metric has correctly forecast the winner of the popular vote in 14 out of 15 postwar presidential elections."
Amazing this "forecast" was made prior to 15 elections? Or was it? 15elections x 4yrs = 60 years. Did the good Professor develop this astounding tool as a youth before the fact, or perhaps as a middle aged man looking back? A "forecast" after the fact. Possibly oxymoronic, no?

Lame-O says,
"Seriously, I can't wait for these debates. "
Yea, neither can the rest of America. Barry's handlers want to wait as long as possible before they let their boy go off script again. He backed out of the proposed townhall meetings that McCain offered because he knew without his teleprompter he is capable of saying some.."uh" really stupid stuff.
If the questions asked are anything like those on the MSNBC or CNN debates we witnessed it will be a complete waste of time. Saturday Night Live hit it right on the head in their spoof of the "Barry Love Fest". "Can we get you anything, are you comfortable".
I wonder if Chris Matthews ever got over that "tingling" in his leg yet from the last ones!

Wow, I feel quite honored. Fred the liberal says my posts, even when he disagrees with them, usually make sense. Quite the compliment, and the only liberal who has ever given me one. A pink pig just flew by.
Now, back to reality, I still think Hillary would have been the best candidate. My opinion. And I don't discount the possibility that Obama may in fact win, but given the factors that come into play in this election cycle that make the out-of-power candidate the odds-on-favorite, Obama doesn't have a significant lead. He should be way ahead given the dynamics of this political season, yet he is not.

Obama's feet of clay will be runny oatmeal by Nov.

Remind me again. Were you rooting for Mittens "My Daddy Marched with MLK" Romney or Huckleberry of Arkansas in the GOP Primary? It's just so hard to remember, because I know your advice in picking political nominees is terrible, but I can't exactly remember in what way it is terrible.

"--- Now, back to reality, I still think Hillary would have been the best candidate. ---"
Speaking for myself, I am unconvinced as to whether or not Hillary would have been better. Objectively, she was much more of a mainstream, centrist candidate (compared to Obama).
She definitely would have been a harder opponent for McCain, but there'd be different weaknesses and such to deal with.
As for the GOP, I was originally a FredHead, but when he retired his campaign, I thought (briefly) that Mitt would have been the better choice (certainly over Huckabuck and Mccain), but then saw that Dr. Ron Paul was much closer to my ideas (though his more annoying followers probably didn't do much to endear him to the public, much less the MSM which solidly ignored him).

Answer the question, TK. Which loser GOP candidate did you back in the primary? I just want to gauge how badly you're reading the electoral scene. I know you didn't back McCain. Were you flying out there on the wing with Tancredo or Hunter? Cause Hunter has some funny stuff about him in the news recently.
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/23/rep-hunter-wont-visit-chadian-refugees-if-he-cant-hunt-wildebeest/
"-- Rep. Duncan Hunter’s (R-CA) staff recently contacted the U.S. embassy in Chad to see whether he could visit the country and distribute food at a refugee camp. He said he wanted to hunt wildebeest and then distribute the meat to the refugees. The embassy, however, wasn’t too happy with this idea — especially because there are no wildebeest in Chad: --"
