Um... what tax increase? No, seriously. What tax increase? Which bill was passed that raised taxes in the last two years? I can't quite recall. You will have to give us the bill you are referring to, JOM. Because I think your ignorance is showing again.

How about we support a candidate who wants to see taxes cut, porky earmarks cut, the illegal and unconstitutional war ended, extra-constitutional executive power grabs reversed, domestic oil and alternative energy sources aggressively pursued, the free market economy given room to function WITHOUT ANY governmental bailouts...

...that man is NOT Obama, and he is NOT John McCain.

That man is Chuck Baldwin.

Folks, there is a better way, a way that is much closer to the Old Republican ideals that made this nation great.

"-- It is the God-commanded order that men are to fight for and protect
women and their country. Women are not to fight for and protect men and
their country. If I'm elected President, I will do everything within my
power to see that women do not serve in the Armed Forces --- at all,
anywhere, period. --"

Heh.

If you really want to talk about budget-busters, you need to go back to 2003 when the Fiscal Conservatives were in charge and the Republicans rammed through the Medicare reform bill. Oh yeah, they lied about what it would cost too.

Last month, the House passed the measure after Bush made late-night, last-minute phone calls asking members to support it. An unusually long three-hour vote was ended by GOP leaders at 6 a.m., after a 218 to 216 deficit flipped to a 220 to 215 victory.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/12/08/elec04.medicare/index.html

An internal investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services confirms that the top Medicare official threatened to fire the program's chief actuary if he told Congress that drug benefits would probably cost much more than the White House acknowledged.

Peroutka is not running this year... nd yes, he had some other somewhat controversial issues besides his no-women-in-the-military idea.

Chuck Baldwin is running, and he has some pretty good ideas how to start setting this nation to rights.

Some pretty violent weather here the past few and quite some time with power outages.

Just caught up with the lefty and wingnut responses for last night historic event.

And am now more than ever convinced that the GOP is toast, done, kaput, resigned to the sidelines, and so forth.

Heck, even here there are more lefties than wingnuts.

"--- And am now more than ever convinced that the GOP is toast, done, kaput, resigned to the sidelines, and so forth... ---"

I wouldn't be so sure of that... but even if it is so, I wouldn't take that as gospel that the nation has as a single bloc swung markedly left.

And the radical lefty infestation here comes and goes; that recent bit that made this blog something of a headline at S,N! or dKos or some other portal into the fever swamps of the left brought a whole new rash of ultra-lefties who have little else but to peruse and troll 'round these here parts.

And IF the GOP is finished, may that open the door for Libertarians and Constitutionalists to scoop up the remains.

Grit Eater says:

"Sac- The numbering system cheapens the verbal elegance of recounting all the McCain / Bush “highlights”.

Sorry but that is talking point #1 and scores a zero for originality!

Lame-O states:

"But SacTownMan really isn't a threat to the inevitable Obama victory. Let's face it, he's not going to volunteer for McCain. He's not going to donate to support his candidate. I doubt he'll even show up to vote."

Sorry, I haven't missed a vote in 32 years and I damn well will show up for this one.

And the ever happy Harpo shares:

"And am now more than ever convinced that the GOP is toast, done, kaput, resigned to the sidelines, and so forth."

This sounds like a line from Lily in "Blazing Saddles"

"Heck, even here there are more lefties than wingnuts."

Sorry Harpo not everyone hangs out in gay biker bars like you, Lame-O and his fudge packing buddy he was bragging about!

JOM

From Bob Owens in Pajamas Media:

"Early in the investigations, based upon unknown evidence, Democratic Rep. John Murtha (PA) stated that “there was no firefight, there was no IED that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”
Barack Obama, asked about Murtha’s charge by Alan Colmes in June of 2006, stated, “I would never second guess John Murtha… I think he’s somebody who knows of which he speaks.”

But it is turning out that both Murtha and Obama, who accepted that Marines were guilty because Murtha said so, were wrong.

"Murtha’s “in cold blood” statement and the Democratic Presidential nominee’s unquestioning acceptance came seven months before the military charged eight Marines with various offenses in December of 2006. Charges against five of the eight Marines have since be dropped for lack of evidence, and in the first of three scheduled trials, Grayson has been acquitted. It remains to be seen if Rep. Murtha or Senator Obama will offer Lt. Grayson an apology, cold-blooded, or otherwise."

What a great CIC Obama would make. He would inspire the troops and keep them safely in garrison no matter what. After all, that is what troops are for, to sit in garrison for during their hitch and then go to college. (Why not just send them straight to college? Oh well.)

Mr Ever say: "Joe Scarborough says McBush's platform is "Less jobs and more wars".

Hahaha. I would never second guess Joe Scarborough. I think he’s somebody who knows of which he speaks.

These moonbats love slogans, don't they Mr Ever? "Less jobs and more wars." "Chump change you can believe in."

As a basic taxonomy of the failures of the last 7 or so years – I’ve found that every scandal / issue with this Administration can be generally categorized into two types: Corruption or Incompetence. Describe any Bush failure and it can be summed up as either one of these or parts of both.

Getting us into this war – Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Execution of the war – Incompetence ( never listened to or followed military opinions )
Katrina – Incompetence ( heck of a job ! )
DOJ firings - Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Economy – A lot of both
And on and on - Feel free to add your own

The fundamental point that Right does not see ( how’s that life in the bubble going ? ) is that this Administration has been so corrupt and incompetent that even the non political junky understands what has happened under conservative rule. There are now more individuals paying attention than ever before and this does not bode well for a political party that has nothing to offer except fear. Seriously, what are going to do when the average working American, who feels every thing they worked for is at risk, is confronted with your mouth breathing concern about stem cell research, evolution, and gay marriage. Good luck with your wedge issues this cycle.

"SOS. SOS. Need help? No Same Old S--t.

"Getting us into this war – Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Execution of the war – Incompetence ( never listened to or followed military opinions )
Katrina – Incompetence ( heck of a job ! )
DOJ firings - Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Economy – A lot of both
And on and on - Feel free to add your own

--Getting...this is patently false. All Western intelligence agencies and the Clintons believed Saddam had WMDs and Congress has and continues to support the war.
--Execution...Wars are never well-managed by anyone with the possible exception of Frederick the Great, and even he made mistakes. The main thing is the surge has worked (How can libs still claim it hasn't?)
--Katrina...Louisiana's governor and New Orleans mayor were responsible for most of the problems from this natural disaster. SV, how is Bush causing these storms over Harpo's house?
--DOJ firings...Well deserved. The president has the power, as have all other managers everywhere to fire those who ignore his priorities
--Economy...Do re mi mi mi___Cycles, nothing more than cycles. And this "bad" economy doesn't even register yet as a "recession", which have happened in the past and will continue to happen continually.

If you don't stop with the tired and disproved nonsense, people will think you are a stupid AH, SV.

Or was is the Clinton failures?

Getting us into this war – Incompetence – Clinton did nothing to prevent terrorists from gaining a foothold and let Iraq piss in our face–ask Sandy Berger

Katrina – Incompetence - the weakened damns were reported to the Clinton administration and he did nothing!

Monica – Moral bankruptcy – rather than resign after lying to the American people and under oath – Clinton and the Dumbocrats actually paraded around the White House supporting him

DOJ Firings– Corruption –yes Clinton fired DOJ staff members

JOM

Hans Blix, who had been in the country looking for WMDs didn't believe they had them. Nor was the US Intelligence community as convinced as you seem to believe they were.

The war was sold as a walk in the park that was going to pay for it self. Basically nothing we were told has turned out to be true.

Local and state agencies simply can't handle the size of disasters like Katrina. FEMA was specifically created for those instances. It failed.

DOJ is a part of the government, not the Republican party. You can't fire attorney's for not participating in partisan investigations.

Here's some reading for you: http://intelligence.senate.gov/080605/phase2a.pdf

--Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq's chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community's uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.

--The Secretary of Defense's statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information.

Hey Biggest Moron Ever..

Arent you tired of repeating the same bullshit over and over again...It is a sign of mental disorder...Sorry tho burst your bubble but if you keep repeating lies or incorrect statements over and over again it doesnt make them true..

JOM

Ever, this is at best an untruth, at worst a lie. Sources please. Who said this? Who was the Salesperson?

"The war was sold as a walk in the park that was going to pay for it self." by Ever

I've often before posted videos of both Hillary and Bill saying Saddam had WMD. You are saying they were lying, Ever?

"--- Getting us into this war – Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles ) ---"

More like disobedience and rebellion against the Constitution... and INCOMPETENCE, by the Congresscritters who enabled Bush to go to this undeclared war.

No use of Letters of Marque and Reprisal to allow privateers (contractors) to assassinate OBL or the other AQ leaders, or Saddam Hussein and his foul spawn.

No asking Congress for a declaration of war against either Afghanistan or Iraq.

*--- HOWEVER ---*

The case for requesting a declaration of war stands on its own merits though -- Iraq DID have a WMD program, and the Clintons and their administration were very much aware of it.

Read the Iraq Survey Group report. It says that Saddam ended his WMD programs in 1991 and destoryed his weapons.

So after 1991, he had no WMD program.

"--- Read the Iraq Survey Group report. It says that Saddam ended his WMD programs in 1991 and destoryed his weapons.

So after 1991, he had no WMD program. ---"

So why did Clinton, M. Albright, and other Clinton administration leaders go on record decrying Iraq's WMD program (as referenced by the several posts with links to media made by one Mr. Fred Beloit)?

Remember that Bill Clinton did not take office until 20 January, 1993 and held that office until 19 January 2001 ... well after Saddam (supposedly) destroyed his weapons.

Apparently, someone is lying.

Because they were wrong.

But the buck stops with Bush. He's the one that took the country to war, not Clinton.

"--- But the buck stops with Bush. He's the one that took the country to war, not Clinton. ---"

Incorrect.

The buck should have been stopped at Congress, which gave Bush a watered down compromise between a constitutionally correct declaration of war and a letter of marque.

Congress (including both the slim GOP majority and enough Democrats) was as complicit in sending the nation off to war as Bush was, if not more so.

Bush as president is the leader of the country. He concocted the idea of going to war, built the case then pushed it through Congress. The buck stops with him. History certainly won't judge Congress kindly, but it will always be Bush's War. Without him, it wouldn't have happened.

More Democrats voted against the Iraq War Resolution than voted for it, particularly in the House where it would have failed without the almost unanimous support of Republicans. Only 7 total Republicans voted against it.

"I've often before posted videos of both Hillary and Bill saying Saddam had WMD. You are saying they were lying, Ever?"

Fred,

I keep hearing this and so friggin what. Neither one of them started a war over it.

It is the invasion and occupation of Iraq that is the disaster. Not being mistaken on WMD's.

We had weapons inspections going on right up to the point of the invasion and Bush told them to leave. By simply allowing the inspectors to finish their job the entire debacle would have been averted.

Why do you suppose Bush didn't allow the inspectors to finish their job?

Harpo writes: "I keep hearing this and so friggin what."

You are kidding me now, Harpo, you sly funster, aren't you? Surely you understand the significance of the fact that Bill Clinton, while President, believed Saddam had WMD. You must see, surely, that if Clinton's best intelligence said WMD, Bush's had to also. The difference was that Bush tried to do something about it in the aftermath of 9/11.

Oh, Harpo, how you make me laugh with your funny antics, you dog, you.

"-- Islamacucold....do your homework and stop cutting and pasting the talking points given to you by the Affirmative Action Candidate... --"

Dumbass, those were votes for tax cuts, not votes for tax hikes.

There is really no end to the amusing stunts and tricks the moonbats play. Listen to Mr Ever, that wicked rapscallion: "History certainly won't judge Congress kindly, but it will always be Bush's War. Without him, it wouldn't have happened."

He knows Bush will be an heroic figure in Iraq's history, the man who lead to the downfall of both Saddam and his statue to himself. The man who lead the effort to free Iraq of a cruel oppressor. What a card.

"You are kidding me now, Harpo, you sly funster, aren't you? Surely you understand the significance of the fact that Bill Clinton, while President, believed Saddam had WMD."

No, I'm not kidding. Clinton very well might have thought, however, he didn't start a war over his thoughts. Bush did.

"You must see, surely, that if Clinton's best intelligence said WMD, Bush's had to also."

Wrong again, Fred.

Just today the Senate Intelligence Committee finally issued its report on prewar intelligence during build up to the Iraq War -- and in the very nice language of the U.S. Senate -- the report confirms that Bush lied to the American people about the Iraq War:

The Committee’s report cites several conclusions in which the Administration’s public statements were NOT supported by the intelligence. They include:

Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa’ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa’ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence.

Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States were contradicted by available intelligence information.

Statements by President Bush and Vice President Cheney regarding the postwar situation in Iraq, in terms of the political, security, and economic, did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products.

Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq’s chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community’s uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.

The Secretary of Defense’s statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information.

The Intelligence Community did not confirm that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001 as the Vice President repeatedly claimed.

Republican Senators fought very hard to prevent the release of this intel report back in 2004 to insure Bush's re-election. And, they wouldn't release this report back in 2006 to protect their own re-elections. All that delay has resulted in the release of this report in 2008 -- leaving John McCain to defend the Bush Iraq war agenda. In some ways, it was worth the wait.

Now now, jharp, you know that further documentary evidence of W's lying is not legitimate. After all, it's Congress' fault we went to war in Iraq. Oh, and W isn't even a conservative; so don't blame conservatives.

Islamacucold....in the real world....voting to eliminate a tax cut is voting to increase taxes...

More proof that liberalism is a mental disorder...

By the way, one must wonder why our friends the trools do not quote any of Bush's statements. I would appreciate them providing some of these "statements".

Following is AN OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR OBAMA. You are welcome to distribute it for the good it may bring. RE: A campaign issue that could win the presidency

Dear Senator Obama,

In your bid to be President, YOU HAVE SAID NOTHING about the North American Union (SPP.GOV) . Perhaps you are aware that this is a “deal” put into place by President Bush in concert with his close friend and confidant, former president of Mexico , Vicente Fox. It was agreed to with much less enthusiasm by former Canadian prime minister Paul Martin, Jr.

Finalization of this clandestinely undertaken business deal was orally solidified at the Bush ranch in 2005. It was never debated before the legislature or made known to the American citizens. Subsequently, we learned of plans to construct a Super Highway project, in which thousands of privately owned acres of tax payer property will be confiscated (under the cleverly initiated Kelo vs New London Supreme Court ruling - also in 2005) through eminent domain proceedings. Private property is central to the freedom we enjoy as Americans and the North American Union - Trans Texas Corridor “NAFTA Super Highway” deal negates this fundamental and traditional American right to own, retain, safeguard and preserve property that has been in families for, in many cases, generations.

The NAU springs from a process, (quietly - indeed surreptitiously) set in motion by President Bush in 2005, with NO debate or vetting considerations by the legislature thereby completely disenfranchising the American citizens from having any knowledge of or say in the matter. It is tantamount to a virtual coup in surrendering of U.S. sovereignty to a trilateral entity that, in the form of a North American Union, could emulate the European Union that now dictates to the citizens of 27 European states.

Senator Obama, you need to bring a bright light on this matter and alert the American people of your position on preserving U.S. Sovereignty. The N.A.U. is an issue that, if actively denounced in forthcoming campaign messages, could win you the presidency. Your opponents have never brought up this vital issue - - meanwhile the Bush administration is proceeding as thought this privately crafted scheme is a “done deal”.

The American people and I will be watching, listening and waiting to see how you stand on this critical matter.

Sincerely,
Conway Chester

P.S. Congressman Ron Paul is a co-sponsor of House Concurrent Resolution 40 expressing Congressional disapproval of the NAFTA Superhighway and any moves toward a North American Union. So far, Senator Obama, you are NOT listed among the 48 who are COSPONSORS of this bill. Why not? Advocating could win the election for you! Congressman Paul has also introduced H.R. 5191, which would prohibit the use of federal funds to carry out these highway projects. This is added legislation you could back, Senator, to show your unabated support for the sovereignty, independence and freedom of America.
