A group of young Obama supporters pulled knives and a gun on my (unarmed thanks to Obama's anti-gun voting record) teenaged kid and his classmates at a parish carnival on the south side of Chicago last night. All my kid had on him was his FOID (Firearm Owners I.D.) card.

Thanks, Obama, Fr Pfleger and Rev Wright. Your "hate whitey" message is being heard loud and clear in the community.

Those Obama supporters who pulled weapons on your young fella and his friends are spiritual cousins to Bolsheviks and the Blackshirts of Mussolini.

And Obama and his ilk will happily see this Republic disarmed so that they can realize their police state totalitarianist fantasies of power and retribution against the so-called (and so-believed) "whitey oppressors".

Osama Obama was simply sending a message to his brother Islamist in Iran. Put down the Nuc's or I'll whip you with a wet noodle.

Speaking of race baiting, here is a gem from across the pond:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/13/barackobama.uselections20081

"--- Rupert Murdoch's Fox News television station has been forced to apologise to Barack Obama for the third time in a fortnight after screening a racially tinged caption referring to his wife Michelle as his "baby mama".

Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming at Fox, said in a statement on Thursday that a producer "exercised poor judgment" during the segment...

... The trio of apologies is embarrassing for Fox. Murdoch last month praised Obama but stopped short of endorsing him, though his New York Post came out for Obama in January. ---"

Yup, this campaign is gonna be nothin' but the race card for the O-man.

face it, obama is stupid.

You guys are idiots.

Unless you're making 500,000 per year you're voting against your own best interest.

But, it has happened before and I'm sure will happen again.

$4.00 gas, inflation, economy sucks, home prices worst fall since the depression, spying on Americans, taxes not going down but shifted to the states, most expensive health care in the world, $4 trillion in deficits, and you want more.

Really, what is you like about the GOP? Cause I can't see it and I'm and an educated successful businessman.

I think it just hit me.

You are looking to attack and kill some more brown people. After all according to the GOP they are the ones causing all of your problems.

I guess if you want a war with Iran, since the other two we're in are going so well, Obama is not your man.

And before any of you dumbfucks answer please keep it to what the GOP has done for you. And please be specific.

And before any of you dumbfucks answer please keep it to what the GOP has done for you. And please be specific.

The GOP taught me to space the word's dumb and fuck's.

Other than that, I was born, white, female and Catholic, no need for any political party doing for me. I can handle my life without party support. Maybe you don't remember the great speech by JFK.......ASK NOT WHAT...........?

"Other than that, I was born, white, female and Catholic, no need for any political party doing for me. I can handle my life without party support. Maybe you don't remember the great speech by JFK.......ASK NOT WHAT...........?"

I'll take that as they haven't done a goddam thing for you other than add $40,000 in debt to every American household.

Oh, and gotten 4,200 of our finest killed.

And isn't there a famous oath that goes something like "... is to do no harm..."

"Oh, and gotten 4,200 of our finest killed."

Oh, and another 25,000 maimed and wounded.

How much do we add to the $40,000 per household to cover the cost of taking care of them.

Or you can take the chickenshit cowards way out and vote GOP, the party to pass the expenses to our children, who will be sure to take care of them on the cheap.

Care to revisit my question on what the GOP has done for you?

Care to revisit my question on what the GOP has done for you?

debt does not scare me. Still yet, I place no expectations on a political party..........

"debt does not scare me. Still yet, I place no expectations on a political party.........."

Debt really doesn't scare me much either but I certainly don't like it. I believe in paying my bills. Not passing them off to my kids.

I expect the candidates of the party I choose to support to do no harm.

And the candidates the GOP has put forth have done unprecedented damage to our country.

And the candidate they have running for President has promised to continue the same failed policies.

"--- I expect the candidates of the party I choose to support to do no harm. ---"

Assuming that you are supporting Obama and the Democratic (Socialist) Party, one must then conclude that you are as much of a fool as one who supports the GOP.

The Party of Socialism and Big Government and High Taxes and unaccountable spending will in no wise do any less harm to this nation than the GOP did.

Don't blindly follow the herd of lemmings off the cliff.

There are alternatives to the usless and bloated two-ring circus that has entrenched itself in Washington, and those parties are hardly even a shell of what they were 80 years ago.

Elephants and donkeys belong either in zoos or circuses.

Eagles belong in the skies.

Oh, and this:

"--- Care to revisit my question on what the GOP has done for you? ---"

There have been no other terrorist attacks on US territory since 9-11-2001.

And Saddam ain't gonna build any more WMDs. :P

And my energy based investments are looking mighty fine.

Not that I really care that much for the GOP, but I can't say that their tenure hasn't completely been without any benefits.

Watch the Video Clip — "The Untouchables"

It was a joke!!!! Remember Obama made an unfortunate remark about bitter and guns in reference to Pennsylvania, which is where he made the statement.

All during the primary in Pennsylvania there was the Hillary and Rocky the fighter theme that people in Pennsylvania liked. They liked the concept of "tough."

It is a line from the movie "Untouchables" with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery.

See the video at the NY Times:

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/14/obama-we-bring-a-gun/

"There have been no other terrorist attacks on US territory since 9-11-2001."

Ignoring the anthrax attacks there hasn't been any since W ignored the warnings of the worst attacks in U.S. history.

"And Saddam ain't gonna build any more WMDs."

What ever happened with the alleged WMD's. Did they ever find any?

"And my energy based investments are looking mighty fine."

Good one. A real mark of progress for the United States.

I like you better when you are honest and don't bullshit with your phony Christian nonsense.

Hey seeker "the phony",

From your man. Bob Barr.

Unfortunately, in recent years government at all levels has shown growing disrespect for the Constitution, particularly the Fourth Amendment that protects citizens from unlawful searches and seizures. The sustained government attack on the sanctity of the rights of the individual, including their right to be secure in their privacy and property, has created a moral and Constitutional crisis. America’s elected officials at all levels must renew their respect for the law and work to protect the rights of individuals.

Jharp - you're an ass. And please start minding the language a bit. As for the GOP, the DNC, or the Gov "doing" something for you. Geesh! That's the entire problem. Here's a clue, nimrod - none of those orgs. produce, manufacture, or sell anything. Other than what amounts to a small level of donations, anything and everything they despense must be taken from someone else.

So, that's what government is to you? I body that should use its power to take from others and give to me in goods, services, or lifestyle because you don't make $500,000??

What a losing, socialistic mindset. It shouldn't even be called American, but thanks to the long line of Dems from FDR right on down who can't resist taking and giving, burdening the productive sectors of society until they become less competitive, or go offshore ... now the GOP is taking on such policies because "free" is so damned popular.

If and when this country finally fades into the history books as a mere shadow of what it was, we'll have a bunch of whinning losers like you to thank for it. You'll have to settle for being proud and not a proud American, unfortunately your hat in hand loser attitude is anything but.

"---

Well, Harpo...

For one, I do not particularly support Mr. Barr (though I'd pick him if he were the only other choice outside Hillary, Obama, or McCain).

I thought you would have understood that, especially as I tend to rather inelegantly plug my favourite candidate here quite often (Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party).

And if you read statement you've quoted from Mr. Barr closely, you will see that he is talking about CITIZENS under the 4th Amendment, though legally, this could also apply to LEGAL RESIDENTS as well.

As for illegal and/or enemy aliens, who by matter of being, expousing, and practicing warfare against the proper citizens of these United States forfeit any status of lawful residency.

In fact, prisoners under our normal "corrections" system lose many of their rights, or at least, those rights are modified and/or are partially suspended during the term of their sentences.

How should an unlawful enemy combatant be accorded the same rights as a CITIZEN?

I'd have to say that the notion is preposterous and quite devoid of sense.

"--- I like you better when you are honest and don't bullxxxx with your phony Christian nonsense. ---"

Actually I am being quite honest.

You asked how (people) I benefited from the GOP over the past seven years.

Looking at the effect of their policies, I answered you: no terrorist attacks since 9-11, Saddam executed and one threat of WMD production eliminated, and oil/energy portfolios boosted.

Arguably, there are a lot of negatives that also come with that, which quite likely outweigh the benefits... but you did ask the question, and some of us answered.

Dan is right though --- if you do put your trust in the parties, of course they will promise the moon and deliver rotten cheese instead.

George Washington had it exactly right about political parties; they choke out liberty through committee and collusion and in this era, they are two heads on the same mutated chicken.

Socialist Party for the "common man", and Socialist Party Lite, for the "wealthy", although I dare say even that distinction is quickly being invalidated with all the Democratic/"Socialist" billionaires lining the Democratic Party's coffers with green.

The way these two parties are melding into each other with just enough difference (one is cautiously descending into Socialism, and could be course corrected if people stopped clamouring for Socialist policies, the other is on a rocket-sled to Socialism without regard to anything else) to play one against the other seems almost Orwellian by design; and the only good government is less government.

If you, along with so many other Obamites think that the government is here to take you from cradle to the grave... if you are the future of this nation, then I regret to inform you that this nation shall not survive much for very much longer.

"The sustained government attack on the sanctity of the rights of the individual, including their right to be secure in their privacy and property, has created a moral and Constitutional crisis."

Jharp...what are you smoking again? Which party has done more to erode private property rights? It ain't the GOP.

The donkeycrats don't care about the individual, they're more concerned with the group or mass collective of people. Don't even try acting like you or your side somehow cares more about the individual or their rights. Your side does whatever it takes to classify everyone by skin color or their race and group them together. Your side has done more to destroy the black family in this country more so than any KKK member. All because you thought they needed your help and rather than let them lift themselves above and beyond, you've convinced them that only the government should take care of their every need. Hope you're proud. I see that's what you're already doing with the hispanics of this country.

Your fake sympathies for us individuals rings hollow...

"If they bring a real debate of the issues to the fight, i'll bring a teleprompter," Obama said at a fundraiser in Philadelphia Friday, according to pool reports.

Pardon me but has anyone here ever heard of the word 'metaphor'? He's saying the McCain campaign is politically unarmed...if you're taking what he said literally you're a douchebag.

Proof that McCain will hoist himself by his own petard? His association with Clayton Williams.

Oh boy, already on the donkey talking points...obviously, Obama hanging around and being friends with the likes of Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Louis Farrakahn, Bill Ayers, Rashid Khalid et al, that's nothing at all. Right.

While Obama denounces guys like Wright, McCain continues to take money from guys like Williams. He's sewing up the grouchy old white guy vote early.

When did he denounce..err, throw him under the bus?

"How should an unlawful enemy combatant be accorded the same rights as a CITIZEN?"

How do we know who is an "unlawful enemy combatant"?

By asking King George?

Dan Riehl,

"As for the GOP, the DNC, or the Gov "doing" something for you. Geesh!
That's the entire problem. Here's a clue, nimrod - none of those orgs. produce, manufacture, or sell anything. Other than what amounts to a small level of donations, anything and everything they despense must be taken from someone else."

While they don't make or sell anything is true they do govern and at a great expense to all of us. I expect them to be competent. Obviously today GOP ers don't.

"So, that's what government is to you? I body that should use its power to take from others and give to me in goods, services, or lifestyle because you don't make $500,000??"

No. And I've never taken a dime nor do I expect to. I do expect a fair tax code and Warren Buffet paying 17% on his $46 million while his secretary pays 30% on her $60 thousand is ludicrous. And the redneck knuckledragging GOP ers are convinced this is in their best interest. Unbelievable!

"If and when this country finally fades into the history books as a mere shadow of what it was"

The great Bill Clinton once said "there is nothing wrong with America that what is right with America can't fix"

I believe him.

McClatchy.

"Akhtiar was among the more than 770 terrorism suspects imprisoned at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. They are the men the Bush administration described as "the worst of the worst."

But Akhtiar was no terrorist. American troops had dragged him out of his Afghanistan home in 2003 and held him in Guantanamo for three years in the belief that he was an insurgent involved in rocket attacks on U.S. forces. The Islamic radicals in Guantanamo's Camp Four who hissed "infidel" and spat at Akhtiar, however, knew something his captors didn't: The U.S. government had the wrong guy.

"He was not an enemy of the government, he was a friend of the government," a senior Afghan intelligence officer told McClatchy. Akhtiar was imprisoned at Guantanamo on the basis of false information that local anti-government insurgents fed to U.S. troops, he said.

An eight-month McClatchy investigation in 11 countries on three continents has found that Akhtiar was one of dozens of men — and, according to several officials, perhaps hundreds — whom the U.S. has wrongfully imprisoned in Afghanistan, Cuba and elsewhere on the basis of flimsy or fabricated evidence, old personal scores or bounty payments.

At least seven had been working for the U.S.-backed Afghan government and had no ties to militants, according to Afghan local officials.

Where is Mr. No Drilling No Peace?

Hello? Fred?

Livin' in a Frosty Paradise?
ANWR is not as pristine as it's cracked up to be.

By Jonah Goldberg

Sen. John McCain said this week he would not drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for the same reason he “would not drill in the Grand Canyon . . . I believe this area should be kept pristine.”

Actually jharp, I think Buffett is an intellectual phony who should pay more than 17%, but he and George Soros are two of the rankest hypocrites who convince people that speculation is bad or that capitalism is inherently evil, all the while enjoy the fruits of it.

"--- Sen. John McCain said this week he would not drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for the same reason he “would not drill in the Grand Canyon . . . I believe this area should be kept pristine.” ---"

All the more reason not to support him, or Obama. Fools and deceivers they are both.

Funny thing is, the Caribou don't seem to have minded the exploratory drilling or the clean up that went on in the ANWR.

Chuck Baldwin will open up the ANWR and the coastal wells off of Florida and California, as well as other initiatives, perhaps including dredging up methane hydrates which we have in abundance in our coastal waters.

"What on earth is this young man thinking?

Spoken like a true old fart in training. Better stick with that angry, yellow-toothed coot. Another 94 years in Iraq may be just the ticket!

The SURGE is working!!

"Pardon me but has anyone here ever heard of the word 'metaphor'?"

You're asking WAY too much of these people. They are simply confused about what is happening to them. Especially the elites in the bunch. The base react as their corporate masters direct. That's to be expected. You have to remember, they are told by their corporate masters (and therefore they enthusiastically believe) that Obama is a secret Muslim/atheist/communist/black-supremecist/late-sipping getto thug.

His terrorist fist-pumps, low bowling score, preference not to eat swill from a Philly tourist trap - and here's the worst thing - willingness to smack down the lies and smears perpetrated by the elitists, have them terribly agitated. The elites know that their days of unearned and corrupt power are extremely nigh. They are in crisis mode. Thus, they have to step it up a few levels to keep the base fearful and voting against their own interests.

Metaphors are not of interest to them.

"The base react as their corporate masters direct. That's to be expected. You have to remember, they are told by their corporate masters (and therefore they enthusiastically believe)"

Dead on.

And I'll repeat, they actually believe Warren Buffet paying 17% tax on his $46 million whilst they pay 30% on their $60 thousand is in their best interest.

Oh, I almost forgot.

It's also the right wingers idea that it's in their best interest to pay twice what the rest of the world pays for the same quality of health care.

For the GOPers with math issues.

That's $7,000 per capital Americans spend.
And $3,500 per capita for the rest of the world.

Meanwhile.

"NEW YORK - As the American economy slowed to a crawl and stockholders watched their money evaporate, CEO pay still chugged to yet more dizzying heights last year, an Associated Press analysis shows."

"The AP review of compensation for the heads of companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 index finds the median pay package added up to nearly $8.4 million. That's a comfortable gain of about $280,000 from 2006."

"The 3 1/2 percent pay increase for CEOs came even as the landscape for both workers and shareholders darkened considerably and the economy was choked by a housing market in free fall, layoffs and soaring prices for fuel and food."

"At the top of the AP list: John Thain, who took the reins of Merrill Lynch on Dec. 1, 2007. His $83 million pay package was supercharged by a signing bonus and other enticements that lured him from the New York Stock Exchange to lead the investment bank as it was suffering its worst-ever losses."

"Collectively, the 10 best-paid CEOs made more than half a billion dollars last year. Yet half the members of this stratospheric club were leading companies whose profits shrank dramatically."

Friggin CEO'S stealing retirement savings and have the wingnuts convinced it's in their best interest.

Meh. That is precisely why if you left your investments in the wrong sectors, you probably deserve to get (your profits) choked.

Commodities, Commodity index funds, and gold and silver are the things to be holding.

If you are still holding on to equities... well, that's on you. The boat for folks who sold short sailed well before March, and the Wall Street Bears are going to be around for quite a bit longer.

As for pay hikes for CEOs... well, on the account of companies operating at net losses, that probably isn't a good idea for them. But then again, that is the Democratic/Socialist way: why earn your own fortune when you can help yourself to someone else's?

The free market handles overvalued CEO pay by way of the shareholders taking note of their portfolio's performance; if the CEO doesn't provide shareholders with value commensurate with bite into profits his salary/compensation package merits, then he gets sacked.

The company then goes on to correct its error and profit.

But the Dems, man, you make too much cash for them, they'll take it at gunpoint by the IRS, and dump the cash into Congress's next pay raise or some other juicy earmarks to keep up the voter patronage.

And that company loses business and the shareholders lose confidence, as does the rest of the economy down the line; if the company loses too much, everybody risks losing jobs.

The secretary paying 30% on her 60k salary probably has a very lousy accountant or has no clue how to do her own taxes, if she is married filing jointly, in which case at 60K/yr she'd not exceed 15%.

If she is married filing separately or single, in which case a significant portion of her tax is in the 25% bracket, and NONE of her income would be in the 28% bracket whatsoever.

http://www.fairmark.com/refrence/index.htm

seekeronos,

I don't believe I referred to either one of them as income taxes.

Obviously Warren Buffets low rate is attributed to capital gains tax.

And his secretary's rate includes social security tax.

"The free market handles overvalued CEO pay by way of the shareholders taking note of their portfolio's performance; if the CEO doesn't provide shareholders with value commensurate with bite into profits his salary/compensation package merits, then he gets sacked."

Please seek, share your story with the Countrywide shareholders, most which are ordinary peoples mutual fund and retiremnent accounts.

Mr. Mozilo took the share price from $40 to $4 wiping out $25 billion in shareholder wealth.

And it's over, done with, kaput. Country is to be taken over for $4 per share. There is no recovery. The shareholders money is gone.

Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo stands to walk away with a severance package worth more than $110 million, the Los Angeles Times' Kathy Kristof reports tonight.

Such a payout would come on top of huge gains Mozilo has made selling Countrywide stock during the mortgage crisis. As the mortgage industry went into a nose dive in late 2006 and 2007, Mozilo cashed out about $140 million in stock options, becoming one of the highest-paid executives in the country

And he's got to pay a whopping 15% capital gains tax on his $250 million.

There's plenty more just like it. Bear Stearns?

1. John Thain, Merrill Lynch, $83.1 million

Under Thain leadership Merill Lynch's share price in 2007 went from $88 to todays $38.

Erasing $50 billion in shareholder wealth. And he is paid $ million for this. And he also has to pay the exorbitant 15% capital gains tax.

And these are widely held stocks. Teachers retirement funds, mutual funds, ordinary folks IRA, etc.

And Mr. Thain is still there.

Think about what this is doing to our treasury and common citizens.

It's sad how irrelevant you 25%ers and your stammering leader have become.

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080615/saudi_oil.html

The BRAVE fighter pilot (see mission accomplished for details) held hands and made out with the king for nothing!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjtfaLtLT7s

Carry on, patriots. Chin up! Gas isn't THAT expensive!! And your little wars are going just swimmingly!! Maverick 08!!!

Bear Sterns. And not only were the shareholders wiped out but the taxpayers got stuck too.

The news that J.P. Morgan bought investment house giant Bear Stearns for just $236 million, or $2 a share, sent tremors through financial markets around the world today. This is company whose stock was worth almost one hundred times as much a year ago. Its building alone is valued at close to $1 billion, which suggests that all the other assets of this 85 year-old investment bank had a negative value – Bear Stearns liabilities exceed its assets.

Further confirming this view is the fact that the Fed apparently had to make guarantees to J.P. Morgan of $30 billion in order to get the bank to take Bear Stearns even at this price. That suggests the bank had a lot of real garbage on its books. The markets are right to be worried. Of course with the $8 trillion housing bubble in full meltdown, there will undoubtedly be much more bad news for the banks in the months ahead.

One person who does not have to worry is James Cayne, the recently departed chief executive of Bear Stearns. According to the New York Times, he walked with $232 million in compensation over the period from 1993 to 2006. This is just another example of how the global economy rewards extraordinary talent.

Bring a knife .. no way .. I used to work with this guy who, during his gangbanging days, carried a hatchet in his car.

In one altercation, he produced the hatchet and the other guy fled.

seeker,

Share price under Sullivan's reign went from $70 to $35.

$85 billion in shareholder wealth lost.

Sullivan's paycheck $22.5 million. 15% capital gains tax on most of it.

"Martin J. Sullivan, who has been running insurance giant American International Group Inc. since the ouster of longtime chief executive Maurice "Hank'' Greenberg, received compensation valued at nearly $22.5 million (euro16.82 million) in 2006, according to a regulatory filing."

Again, these are teachers, firefighters, ordinary Joe's retirement savings.

Poof. Gone.

Lehman Brothers CEO Richard Fuld compensation $34 million

15% capital gains tax

Share price goes $85 to $25

Shareholder wealth lost $30 billion

Salary $750,000
Bonus $0
Latest FY other short-term comp. $0
Latest FY other long-term comp. $33,632,036
Latest FY long-term incentive payout $0

Total $34,382,036

Again teachers, firefighters, everyday Americans are out $30 billion in retirement savings. CEO makes $34 million.

Time to privatize social security. Just imagine how much they could steal then.

Oh, and watch Lehman Brothers tomorrow.

Some heavy doo doo coming down. Could be Bear sStearns the 2nd. And get your wallet out. Time for another taxpayer bailout.

Imagine that, CEO is paid $34 million to utterly ruin the company and the taxpayers bail them out.

Disgusting.
