That old man with the band aid on his head must be feeling great about the economy about now! 4 more years!!

"---
I like this line of argument. Either Seek is so well versed in the beliefs of Karl Marx that his brain has been irreparably compromised and tainted by the foul ideas of the socialist agenda, or he's just blowing smoke out his ass without the faintest clue as to what a Marxist political position would look like.

I challenge Seek to give me one solid correlation between Marx and Obama. Give me a pair of quotes, a pair of specific policy positions (not simple "Marx and Obama both want to raise your taxes" bullshit, but actual health care plans or immigration positions or education platforms that match), something that gives a solid link between a 19th century European political philosopher and the 21st century Democratic Presidential Candidate.
---"

I haven't forgotten you Moe.

It is in fact quite hard to match up exact policy positions for two people who are separated by nearly 150 years.

Therefore, I shan't step into that trap. I will say that Obama is influenced by Marx and other Marxists, and that he has his origins in politics by working with Marxists and even an avowed, professed member of the Communist Party of the USA.

It is enough for me to see that he is an unabashed statist and an authoritarian, looking to impose grand, expensive, tax-burdensome, and enormously intrusive layers of government, as well as pursue unreasonable and offensive levels of "wealth redistribution".

Read here for details:

http://www.aim.org/aim-report/is-barack-obama-a-marxist-mole/

And oddly enough, there is this item, which at first glance looks to disprove Obama's brand of Marxism, but actually establishes it:

http://www.nopunditintended.com/2008/06/16/why-exposing-obama-marxism-wont-work/

While the smears may or may not work, Obama's motivating ideas are bred from the far left, and are antithetical to what most people are comfortable with.

Thus the fancy orations and the seductive charms of "HOPE" and "CHANGE" and the ever-positive "WE CAN DO IT" serve as delicate and perhaps even beautiful window dressings to plans to bring us from a nation of sovereign citizens to an empire of ruled subjects, ruled by a self important cadre of elites who are truly convinced that "Only They Know What Is Best for Us"™.

The survey found public approval of the president's job performance at a new low for a Times/Bloomberg poll: 23%, compared with 73% disapproval.

Nice day on Wall Street too. And oil at $140 a barrel.

Do you suppose there is any chance Bush could just resign now and we could get on with the healing.

The damage done by W and his GOP enablers is jaw dropping. Never have seen anyone fuck things up so bad ever in my life.

And the $12 billion a month goodwill mission goes on. And it blows my mind that McCain's platform is stay the course. I guess we'll see how that turns out.

"Handguns are damn poor home defense weapons."

Uh, that would be wrong. They are quite good, excellent really, as that is what a pistol was designed for, up-close defense. They are quite small compared to a rifle or a shotgun, can more easily be protected from a home invader, and are safe to use given the correct bullets and proper training. And frankly, they are much handier to use.

A pistol was not designed as an offensive weapon, although they have been used as such, but the rifle is much the better weapon for offense, and the pistol for defense. My Kimber .45 auto is my absolute favorite for carry, although I have a Taurus .357 Magnum in titanium that I like as well, though it does have the reputation of overpenetrating. Hehe.

"Handguns are damn poor home defense weapons."

"Uh, that would be wrong." "They are quite good"... as long as the person knows how to use it and many do not.

I know how to use both and would clearly opt for the shotgun. And that's home defense I'm talking about. Stopping power, spread, ease at hitting the target, all favor the shotgun. In my opinion.

I should have been more clear. A lot of people don't realize how difficult it can be to hit the target with a handgun. Thus they'd be better off with a shotgun.

And I've been thinking about buying a Ruger 41 caliber revolver. What do you think of the 41?

Greetings, patriots! I have been indisposed for a couple of days (a bit of nation-building in Olde Europe) but it is very nice to come back to such GOOD news. The economy is chugging along, the surge is working and that broken old man is still shuffling towards November. It is good to be back indeed, patriots. Thank you for your service!!

Welcome back, Bobby, just in time for the SCOTUS to declare that owning a firearm in the US is an individual right, not a collective one. I've been saying that for years.

jharp, actually I like the .41 cal, and I love the Ruger that shoots it. I don't have one, dang'it, but I do have a S&W Model 29 in a .44 mag. The .44 packs a little more punch, shoots the .44 special loads for plinking and home defense, and has the advantage of having cheaper and more plentiful ammunition. I would recommend the .44 over the .41 for those reasons, but the .41 will certainly get the job done, and you would certainly be well armed if you had one.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Supreme Court will be full of Marxists come January. Lets see what decisions they come down with then. I suggest you patriots start hiding your guns and stocking up on Slim Jims. Baked Beans and Busch beer now. B. Hussein is a comin!!!

I see you've been hitting the hashish in the Olde Country, Bobby, as there aren't any vacancies on the SCOTUS. You lose again.

I did hear some news that is sure to make you happy, though, as media reports coming out of Phoenix are telling a story of Mexican soldiers coming across the border in full military gear and breaking into homes and killing US citizens. Nice. Another good reason to have a firearm handy, and not locked up in a gun vault where it will do you no good. If you have children in the house, teach them how to safely handle a gun. If they are under 10, then separate your ammo and gun, but still have it handy enough to be useful in the case of a home invasion. Or if you hate guns, get a big-ass dog, and have it trained properly to protect you, although it would be useless against armed intruders.

I'm into the Rugers too and revolvers in general. Your S % W model 29 has a little too stubby of a barrel for me but it certainly is a nice gun.

The 44 is fast and shoots well but is a bit much in my opinion.

And I've never fired a 41. The guns I don't care for much at all are the 38's, 9mm, 357's and especially the semi autos aren't my cup of tea.

And I also like single shot rifles. Makes you focus on that one good shot which is all you should really need.

"--- Or if you hate guns, get a big-ass dog, and have it trained properly to protect you... ---"

Or a very large cat. A well trained mountain lion or leopard can come in handy.

Or, a mountain lion's weight in feral carts.

Either will do nicely in deterring home invaders.

(and yes, I am joking). :P

feral cats, that is.

On a more serious note:

"--- ... media reports coming out of Phoenix are telling a story of Mexican soldiers coming across the border in full military gear and breaking into homes and killing US citizens. ---"

Not for nothing, but in most situations I've ever studied, that sort of thing is usually considered an act of war.

However, there is often a thin line separating some countries' armies from being heavily armed gangs. In Mexico's case, and in connection to the drug trade, I reckon that line is especially thin.

Unfortunately, most of our army and national guardsmen are overseas and are unable to repel this invasion back into Mexico.

All the more reason for the private right to bear arms to be preserved... and a compelling reason to bring our soldiers home to repel the Mexican menace.

Harpie, I must agree that you surprise me too. Somehow I imagine you acting like those overly shocked and replulsed fem actors you see on tv when they learn the dad character "bought a gun!?" the day after the whole family was terrorized by a biker gang. Now you cats will never believe it but I swear on DaBoob's inability to string together a cogent thought....There's is a Napoleon field gun in my side yard right now. Of course it's a bit too much for intruders....unless DaBoob, Pookie the LLama and thier drooling sidekick chrissy roll up together...oops I shouldna said that. Those three would prefer DaGuv come take my shit and hand it over to them.

Obama flip flops again. Before he was for the DC gun ban now he is against it. Of course if he gets elected and changes the Supreme Court to change the new gun law back to what it was well then he will be for the DC ban again. Obama says he supports the right of individuals to bear arms. But he also supports limiting those rights. What that means is that he supports the right of individuals to bear arms just not YOU.

Yesterday's Krauthammer editorial in IBD says this

quote
Obama now says he'll vote in favor of the new FISA bill that gives the telecom companies blanket immunity for post-9/11 eavesdropping.
unquote

Wasn't this FISA thing a big deal on this board not long ago?

"Harpie, I must agree that you surprise me too."

Let me add that I'm not sure if I agree or disagree with the SCOTUS decision. I kinda believe handguns are a huge problem and the Canadians don't have much of a problem (no handguns).

Not saying I favor banning handguns but am open to some stricter rules.

I see that Grandpa is now making wife-beating jokes. He's quite a card! Perhaps it's time to put him in a rocker by the window so he can look at traffic all day. Wake him up when November comes.

"--- Obama now says he'll vote in favor of the new FISA bill that gives the telecom companies blanket immunity for post-9/11 eavesdropping. ---"

Now I remember saying something a few months back about Mitt McFlippyFlop Romney... but Obama's flip-flops make Mitt look like a rock-ribbed paragon of stability.

"--- Napoleon field gun ---"

That'd be one of those (relative to that era) rapid firing three-inchers? Now if that gun is operational, and you have a few mates to help serve the weapon and some ordnance, I suspect that the mentally conjoined twins chris and Boob, along with the Islamic Camelid Beast of the Andes and a few more of our esteemed friends on the fringe left show up in your precincts in a pink Prius, that Napoleon could make short work of them. Heh.

On Canucks with guns:

Having a relatively more homogeneous population that is only 10% of our total population that has no historic protection of gun ownership rights goes a long way toward reducing the incidence of Canadians running amock hopped up on Molson's Triple X with their Glocks a-blazing in public.

"--- Obama now says he'll vote in favor of the new FISA bill that gives the telecom companies blanket immunity for post-9/11 eavesdropping. ---"

I had seen that and don't like it one bit. Unlike the wingnuts I will not try to justify his poor decision. He is wrong.

Makes me think of an old saying that there aren't two parties, democrats and republicans, there is one, the money party.

It sucks.

"Not saying I favor banning handguns but am open to some stricter rules."

Ah, more like what I expect from you harpie. However, I *almost* agree...except that mine have to make some sense and most don't. I'm not against trigger locks and similar safety measures for instance. Or background checks. Where we differ most is likely where I believe that if you are in possession of a gun in commission of any crime....any crime. You bought yourself five years...period. Whether you "brandish" it or not. Dont be stupid, I dont mean speeding or jaywalking.

Willie,

Your suggestions make sense to me. And I think the mandatory sentences for possessing a gun while committing a crime have indeed proven effective.

On the background checks. I go the gun shows in Indianapolis and and quite shocked at the number of handguns for sale and the thuggery I see buying with no background checks. I strongly favor background checks and even at the gun shows.

Here's something you might find interesting, jharp. The government commission studying the health care "crisis" in Canada has called for the overhaul of the Canadian system, with new emphasis on the private sector. I wonder what that fat-ass Mikey Moore has to say about that.

In other news, I see that negociations by the new Pakistani government for peace with the Taliban have really paid off. The peace deals are being broken by the Taliban before the ink can dry, and the whole NWFP and FATA are about to fall to the Taliban, including the capital of Peshewar. The ski resort in SWAT has been burned down, girls schools are being torched, beheadings are taking place, movie stores are being bombed, and music is being banned. Yeah, that negociation thing with the terrorists is really working out well. For the terrorists, that is.

Maybe Oregon should overhaul their health care too. They refused to give drugs to a woman with cancer because they cost too much, instead they offered her the drugs to commit suicide with.

I thought you heroes defeated the Taliban?? It has been 7 years, after all. Unfortunately a top-flight warrior with a PRIVATE school education won't be defeating them once and for all.

"--- Makes me think of an old saying that there aren't two parties, democrats and republicans, there is one, the money party. ---"

This is not just an old saying, but is increasingly become a truism.

Don't vote for the two-headed ventriloquist's puppet.

On gun control: The best gun control involves getting a six-shot group of an inch or less at 500 meters.

On handguns: trigger locks are good. Unreasonable barriers to acquisition are not. NYS is among the most restrictive states concerning handgun laws, requiring among other things permission from the county court, several layers of security and background checks, and depending upon the county jurisdiction, interviews with the judge and/or the sheriff's office. Any wrinkle or uncrossed "T" or undotted "I" is a showstopper.

The gold prize for anyone desiring a CCW is unrestricted carry (which may be a bit of a misnomer as to where exactly you can take your CCW, but relative to the other categories, such as "home only", or "target range only" and other obscure, very limited conditions, is the most permissive).

Of course, once you have a pistol permit with an unrestricted carry, it is generally easy to add new weapons, though there is a fair amount of paperwork and waiting involved still.

I don't object to background checks though... a possible solution would be to have a gun show pay (from any admissions charged to the public, or fees to vendors for the local cost of getting the sheriff or municipal cops to set up an NCIS terminal with a detective or a few patrolmen on hand to run the checks, and an added bonus, scoop up any perps or open warrants who are dumb enough to try to get a gun at that show.

TK @ Canada Health Care and Fat Mikey:

Wisdom, as the Holy One of Israel once said... is vindicated by her children.

Evil can never be defeated, Boob, until Christ returns. I thought you would surely know this by now, what with seek's attempts to enlighten you with all that scripture. You're a poor reader, no doubt. Jesus still loves you anyway, Boob. Hahaha! But I find you a bit of a boar, myself. LOL.

A 'boar" you say? Hmm, perhaps you could have benefitted from that PRIVATE school. In any case, Semper Fi, patriot. You leader needs you during these dark days.

"The government commission studying the health care "crisis" in Canada has called for the overhaul of the Canadian system, with new emphasis on the private sector."

That's good. It's the second worst health care system only beating the U.S. I'll be anxious to see how it turns out. And for the record every country except us has some combination of public and private coverage.

Please keep me posted.

It's funny how the left changes their tune when it suits them

"In January, Olbermann delivered an unhinged rant in which he called the immunity provision a "shameless, breathless, literally textbook example of fascism"--and in case you thought he meant the nongenocidal Italian kind, he also likened proponents of immunity to "the bureaucrats of the Third Reich."

Now that Barack Obama supports a law that does the same thing--and now that Obama justifies that support by claiming that this bill is necessary to keep us Safe from the Terrorists--everything has changed. . . .

Last night, Olbermann invited Newsweek's Jonathan Alter onto his show to discuss Obama's support for the FISA and telecom amnesty bill (video of the segment is here). There wasn't a syllable uttered about "immunizing corporate criminals" or "textbook examples of Fascism" or the Third Reich. There wasn't a word of rational criticism of the bill either. Instead, the two media stars jointly hailed Obama's bravery and strength--as evidenced by his "standing up to the left" in order to support this important centrist FISA compromise."

"I strongly favor background checks and even at the gun shows."

Harpie that isn't the case in all states. Here you must have your permit and a background check even at gun shows. This of course doesnt preclude you and I meeting in the parking lot for our own business transaction. Though we might want to go down the block lest there be LEO skulking about looking for scofflaws.

I knew it varied state to state am and not surprised that Indiana would favor ease of transaction.

It's a tough question on how to handle the whole thing. I guess I'm fairly happy with the way things are now though I'd be open to laws to get more handguns off the street.

hope something like this doesn't decide the election as I don't think either side makes much difference.

"A boar, you say. Hmm perhaps you could have benefited from that PRIVATE school."

Well, let me see. Boar=pig. That is exactly the idea I wished to convey. And I have a public school education, but public education was much better a few years ago, prior to the time it was taken over by liberals. You liberals are sending your kids to private schools as well. How fitting.

This should get quite interesting. Guns, gays, poor people, housing projects.

I'd like to put myself on record that I don't have much of an opinion either way. (Reserve the right to change my mind)

SAN FRANCISCO - The National Rifle Association sued the city of San Francisco on Friday to overturn its ban on handguns in public housing, a day after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a handgun ban in the nation's capital.

The legal action follows a similar lawsuit against the city of Chicago over its handgun ban, filed within hours of Thursday's high court ruling.

In San Francisco, the NRA was joined by the Washington state-based Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and a gun owner who lives in the city's Valencia Gardens housing project.

The gun owner, who is gay, says he keeps the weapon to defend himself from "sexual orientation hate crimes." He was not identified in the complaint because he said he fears retaliation.

"This should get quite interesting. Guns, gays, poor people, housing projects."

Harpie m yopinion has always been that we should work on the reasons anyone feels the need to own a weapon for protection. You , I hell even Pookie the LLama should be able to move about anywhere, anytime with out feeling the need to defend ourselves.....without feeling the need to put bars on *OUR* windows. Rather than fixing a rottening society though some would prefer attacking an inanimate object. Someone is always throwing about statistics from Canada (like 16-17 people live there for one) or from Japan (my personal fave) never pointing out that there never has been much intra-personal violence in these places....Why?....They are raised to be more civil for one. Of course suicide in Japan is higher than most countries (being people who off themselves for poor customer service)and would likely be worse if it were easier, so who knows.

There are neighborhoods in DC where law abiding citizens might need a gun to protect themselves and their family. Now they will be able to have one. DC is full of criminals with guns. Most are street killings(that is drug related)and having guns at home will not change that. It is interesting that a scumbag like Marion Barry(Mayor For Life) supported the gun ban.
I always felt there was something racist in the gun ban. Since DC is about 75 or 80 per cent black were the elected black officials saying in effect black people cannot be trusted to have guns in their homes?
I really just like the idea that law abiding people can protect themselves and their families in their homes. Also, I think there is a deterrent in that criminals will now stop and think before doing a B&E or a home invasion since they may encounter a person armed with a gun.

Canada and Japan have the advantage also being much more racially homogeneous than the USA.

Japan has a huge population relative to the land it has (150M people living on a chunk of land the size of California) and very, very, very few immigrants, especially from the third world.

Even within the Japanese themselves, there is little discrimination toward the former underclasses (Eta-Himin/Burakumin), although the Japanese have been known to discriminate somewhat against their Korean-Japanese and Chinese-Japanese immigrants, as well as the many illegals from Africa, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

I can't speak much to Canada, outside of it having a much lower population density. It should follow that a lower pop. density usually means a lower incidence of crime.

"-- It is in fact quite hard to match up exact policy positions for two people who are separated by nearly 150 years.

Hehe. So you can't actually link policy positions, because - being separated by 150 years - they don't really share any. But Obama did know a guy who was a Communist, and so has been irrevocably lost to the Marxism that he doesn't share any policy positions with. And we know he's an unabashed statist and authoritarian (unlike, say, John "unitary executive" Woo or Dick "Fourthbranch" Cheney) because of other policy positions that will remain nameless. The grand, expensive, tax-burdensome, and enormously intrusive layers of government (which also remain nameless) pale in comparison to the conservative platforms of warantless wiretapping, indefinite detention of US citizens, and trillion dollar foreign wars in Middle Eastern nations because... well... um... that doesn't really get explained either. And Obama's "wealth redistribution" plans (which, yet again, remain nameless) are also bad. Meanwhile Bush's "wealth redistribution" plans - cutting the capital gains tax well below the standard income tax rate to redistribute the tax burden on to people with salaries rather than people who derive the majority of their income from usury - are good.

:-p See, this is yet one more reason why the conservative movement is dying. People can look at their rising insurance premiums and appreciate the merits of public health insurance. People can look at the massive deficit and the obscene war spending, put two and two together, and oppose the war on fiscally conservative grounds. They can look at mountaintop removal or Bush's EPA opposition to solar plants and California's fuel efficiency laws, and oppose the GOP on environmentalism grounds. They can see the wages of deregulation in Enron and the mortgage collapse and the exploding price of gasoline. But they can't see a reason to keep voting for conservatives. There's no reason to fear Obama's Marxism or Hillary Clinton's authoritarianism or Dennis Kucinich's crazy anti-war positions. If anything, your constant attempts to link Obama to the European socialist movement circa 1900 is going to revitalize American socialism as people begin to regard Marx with the same respect they regard Obama.

:-p

"--- There's no reason to fear Obama's Marxism or Hillary Clinton's authoritarianism or Dennis Kucinich's crazy anti-war positions. I rather doubt that, unless Americans have completely given up any desire to think for themselves as well as desire liberty over government interventionism.

And yes, while we cannot link any exact policy initiatives of Obama's to those of Marx (he was a philosopher and an economist more than he was a politician) one need only look to those others whom Marx has influenced, such as his hero Che "Butcher" Guevara, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Eugene V. Debs among many others.

I don't argue that the Bush regime has been utterly incomprehensible in its drive to go against what have been classically conservative principles of non-interventionism, small government, fiscal responsibility, and sound monetary policy.

Bush and buddies have largely operated in their own self interests, and as I have stated elsewhere, should the powers that be ever decide to bring him up on war crimes charges or even a civil complaint for his irresponsibility while in office, I wouldn't shed a single tear.

But those are side issues at this point: the damage has been done, and it is up to whoever succeeds Bush will need to work to restore sound money, sound government, civil liberties, end the war, reduce spending, protect the border and repel the foreign invasion of illegals by pushing for legislation and enforcement for businesses to stop hiring the illegals.

Marxism - whether it be of Che Guevara's murderous variety, or the watered down variety that Obama desires to impose upon us via crushing taxes and obstruction of drilling for new oil and gas, and expanded social programs like government healthcare... it simply never works in the long term.

Neither McCain nor Obama have the solutions. We need to go back to tried and tested principles, the principles of Calvin Coolidge and Robert Taft... freedom and liberty for Americans, freedom for our markets and for our economy, freedom from entangling alliances such as the UN and NATO, and restraint from engaging in imperial adventuring abroad.

Choose the man who will make efforts to make these things happen.

Restore our Republic to the Constitution.

Elect Chuck Baldwin in 2008.

This blog has gotten downright sad. It's only updated when an evil librul dies! Things must be busy elsewhere in patriotland. Many lunches with powerbrokers perhaps.

There have been exciting developments from the Grand OLD Party's candidate and they have been ignored here. It has recently been revealed that John McCain has agreed to stop beating the beer heiress AND apparently he is AWARE of the internet. This elderly fellow should serve as an inspiration for oldsters everywhere! It's not too late to change your bad habits (wife-beating) and to keep up with what the kids are doing (the internet dothingy).

Have a blessed Lord's Day, patriots!

Boobinstamford: You should have more respect for your elders. They know more than you do. Try to be quiet and learn from them.

John McSame certainly qualifies as an ELDER. It would be bad enough having to be in the 4some behind him - the thought of voting for such an old coot is laughable.

Semper Fi to you and yours, though!

The Boob hates old people and Asians, which account for the majority of people on this planet. However, he likes brown people, just so long as they stay out of his neighborhood and vote Democratic. He does have a good side, though, as he employs illegal aliens to do odd jobs and such, taking work away from the evil libruls who occupy the trade crafts, such as carpenters. Way to go, Boob. We can honestly say that you don't pick sides when it comes to harming your country.

What Bob doesn't realize (provided that the Lord remains patient with him, allowing him a long life with which to come to repentance) is that someday, he too will be OLD.

And while his internet personas (note the plural, though there isn't much difference between his various sockpuppets) are generally mean, odious, and occasionally laughably ridiculous... I hope for his sake that WHEN he gets OLD, that his abrasive and generally hateful demeanor haven't driven his family and children away.

It would be a shame for Bob to waste away as an OLD man, unloved by family (except of course, when it comes time to line up for whatever spoils he leaves behind) or by society... counting your days until the loss of your faculties, darkness and wrath finally overtake him.

Seek,

Why don't you get on this guys bandwagon. Isn't he pretty close to your man Baldwin. Any man that makes sense like this I gotta like.

Bob Barr.

"[What] George W. Bush has done to the fabric of our constitutional government, to Separation of Powers, to a government of limited powers, to destroy the notion that we are a nation of laws, not of men, is something that is absolutely unforgiveable, irresponsible and terribly, terribly destructive of our notion of government. President Clinton, certainly had my problems with him, but what he did in terms of perjury and obstruction was bad, but it was not destructive of the very systemic foundations of our country."

What Jesus' BFF doesn't realize, in addition to concepts like actually working during work hours, is that old people may be well and good - but they are unfit to serve as president of the USA. A yellow-toothed old man whose dual claims to fame involve bad flying and marrying a beer baron's daughter should be considering graphite shafts for his irons and dinner at 4:30, not the White House. At least the old coot is good for a laugh though!

Carry on, patriots! A grateful nation thanks you 23%ers!

For jharp:

Bob Barr is my second choice, meaning that if Dr. Baldwin is unable to gain ballot access in NY, I will vote for him. AFAIK, the LP has a ballot line in NY.

Their positions on most things are fairly close to what I want (which is much like the positions of the GOP that were firmly held by Robert Taft/Cal Coolidge).

The only possibly marks against Barr in my mind was the part he had in backing the Patriot Act and related legislation that sent us to war, but he has since recanted much of that.

And even then, he is a far better candidate in my eyes than Senators Obama and McCain.

And what the bedraggled, ageist troll named Bob (who also might be questioned as to how much time he cheats his employers out of, given hs weekday activity here) doesn't realize is that his heroes among the Democrats are also old men, such as Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy and Robert "the Exalted Cyclops" Byrd, among others.

Good Heavens, an Exalted Cyclops! You'd think the Klan could come up with some title that didn't sound like it has pulled out of bad fantasy story.

As for the "Honourable" Robert Byrd, (D-WV)... he is the one famous for saying:

"--- I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ---"

Arguably Senators Kennedy and Byrd are elder statesmen with notable flaws, just like Sen. McCain.

Perhaps the better argument would be for Congressional term limits and a discussion of these men's individual merits for whether or not they should stay in their offices as opposed to the insubstantial argument concerning their age, no?

Boobinstamford. You don't want to give up on this age thing do you? Johnny Mac's mother is a clear headed 95 or 96. So Johnny Mac is just a babe in the woods at this point.
Some young people seem to have it in for older folks. I guess that is called ageism. As far as I know Johnny Mac doesnt take afternoon naps like Ronnie did. And he doesnt have his wife whispering answers to questions in his ear like Nancy did for Ronnie.
