Meaning no disrespect to the late Tim Russert, or his family - the reality is, whenever something happens to a journalist, it seems to draw ten times more attention than the passing of any other prominent individual.
You can check out blog links on Russert via Memeorandum. Frankly, outside the field of journalism, I'm unaware of any great contribution to society made by Mr. Russert.
Certainly, this is news. But 58 year old men do drop dead everyday. Next will come the numerous specials and special reports on heart ailments, work habits, etc.
Because, in the end, it is all about the media to the media. And that's why their reader- and viewerships continue to decline.

Who's Tim Russert?

Let the lefty MSM have its 15,000 hours of backslapping and commiseration over the loss of one of their esteemed members.
And then back into the tank for Obama after that.

Such a fine Christian. Your Heavenly Father must be very proud of you. He will award you with 100 yellow virgins in the afterlife.

From what I've seen on several Leftish blogs, including Balloon Juice and Matt Yglesias, the lefties are busy trying to top each other in terms of how much shit they can dump on Russert, and mind you, they started doing this yesterday literally within a few hours of his announced death. The nastiness of it is truly mindboggling to behold. Dissenters at Balloon Juice are told by the host, an instructor at West Virginia University named John Cole, to Fxxk off. What a nice bunch of pond scum.

Russert was such a good man with a sharp intelligence. Politically, he was center Left; what is the problem with the Leftists? BTW, I admire your blog, but I think you have a tin ear on this one. Journalists and politicians occupy a place where they are very familiar to us as we see them in our papers and on our t.v.'s, but they deal in politics which have very real impacts on our lives, thus they mean more to us personally than the entertainer. And Russert was the most popular, fair, and talented of them all and was still more of a humble everyman.

I had no intention on picking at Russert, but yeah, he is a bit of a lefty. Like someone else said downthread, a moderate lefty, and quite a bit more fair and reasonable than many of his cohort who are trying to outdo each other in praising him.
Russert could be considered fair and balanced -- especially when put next to a slimeball Marxist shill like Keith Olbermann.
BTW, I've never really cared to read Balloon Juice... since Zifnab (our very own Islamollama) is a frequent resident there, is it safe to say that it is a lefty blog?

i guess every profession is kinda like that. look at cops, somebody kills one of them and it's round the clock, non stop tracking of the criminal. that's not wrong, but it should be that way for everyone killed. i feel sorry for mr russert's family just like i do everybody else that has died.

Collective narcissism is just another phrase for MSM

What does one say when an enemy dies? I feel bad for his family and those close to him but I did consider him a political enemy. As an objective journalist he was a failure.

The truly sad thing is that Bill O'Reilly is still alive.

I didn't understand the national spasm of mourning, either. But it looks bad to pick at it so soon after his death.
