I once had a girlfriend who liked the song, Fool if you think it's over.
From the AP story on Hillary "ending" her bid:
This event will be held on Saturday to accommodate more of Senator Clinton's supporters who want to attend," her communications director, Howard Wolfson, said.
Clinton is exploring options to retain her delegates and promote her issues, including a signature call for universal health care.
I'm not suggesting Hillary is in the driver's seat in any way. That hasn't really been true for months. But you are indeed a fool if you think this is absolutely over. Retaining her delegates is important. Were she to release them, she'd be at square one with everyone else if Obama self-destructs, or is damaged in some major way before the convention.
And don't think there won't be Clinton operatives looking to make just that very thing happen, if possible. At worst, Obama becomes damaged enough to lose the general election, opening the door, again, for Hillary in 2012.
I'm not sure enough of the party would want her then. But that wouldn't stop her from trying to put an iron grip on the 2012 nomination if the opportunity exists. Hillary is Nixonian when it comes to her political ambitions. And someone, somewhere is going to have her to kick around politically for as long as she lives. In the end, I suspect it's all she has lived for up until now.
Perhaps she'll have an awakening of sorts over time after all this and adjust her ultimate goals and ambitions. But Hillary's dream has always been and, for now, still is the White House. Those who think she's through would be well advised to remember that dreams do indeed die hard. And some dreams ... and some politicians ... never die at all.

Yes. She will never go away. Just like Madonna.
I think she lost for many reasons but one of them is that she is NOT likeable. And Obama has a likeable personality. He is likeable. I dont like him and I wont vote for him but it is really nice to know that Hillary is not going to be President. She is also making all the wrong moves if she wants to be VP. I am sure Obama doesnt want her or Bill hanging around his neck.

Fool If You Think It's Over also applies to Obama.
"The successful prosecution [of Tony Rezko] adds to the pressure on Blagojevich, who rode into office in 2002 with a promise to end corruption in Springfield, the state capital. His Republican predecessor, George Ryan, was convicted of corruption in the same Chicago courthouse in 2006.
"It's another chapter in the sad history of Illinois government," Jay E. Stewart, executive director of the Better Government Association, told reporters. "I don't think this is the 'No more business as usual' we were promised when Rod Blagojevich became governor back in 2002. He can't blame this on George Ryan."

The Rezko conviction story is here. Wouldn't it be great to have a friend in the White House, Tony?

joeb writes: "And Obama has a likeable personality. He is likeable." That is probably why he has made so many likable friends, for example, Revs, Wright and Flagler, Rezko, and super revolusionisto Bill Ayers, as well as Murtha of course.

As a basic taxonomy of the failures of the last 7 or so years – I’ve found that every scandal / issue with this Administration can be generally categorized into two types: Corruption or Incompetence. Describe any Bush failure and it can be summed up as either one of these or parts of both.
Getting us into this war – Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Execution of the war – Incompetence ( never listened to or followed military opinions )
Katrina – Incompetence ( heck of a job ! )
DOJ firings - Corruption ( breech of faith of American principles )
Economy – A lot of both
And on and on - Feel free to add your own
The fundamental point that Right does not see ( how’s that life in the bubble going ? ) is that this Administration has been so corrupt and incompetent that even the non political junky understands what has happened under conservative rule. There are now more individuals paying attention than ever before and this does not bode well for a political party that has nothing to offer except fear. Seriously, what are going to do when the average working American, who feels every thing they worked for is at risk, is confronted with your mouth breathing concern about stem cell research, evolution, and gay marriage. Good luck with your wedge issues this cycle.

SOS. SOS. Need help? No Same Old S--t.

--Getting...this is patently false. All Western intelligence agencies and the Clintons believed Saddam had WMDs and Congress has and continues to support the war.
--Execution...Wars are never well-managed by anyone with the possible exception of Frederick the Great, and even he made mistakes. The main thing is the surge has worked (How can libs still claim it hasn't?)
--Katrina...Louisiana's governor and New Orleans mayor were responsible for most of the problems from this natural disaster. SV, how is Bush causing these storms over Harpo's house?
--DOJ firings...Well deserved. The president has the power, as have all other managers everywhere to fire those who ignore his priorities
--Economy...Do re mi mi mi___Cycles, nothing more than cycles. And this "bad" economy doesn't even register yet as a "recession", which have happened in the past and will continue to happen continually.
If you don't stop with the tired and disproved nonsense, people will think you are a stupid AH, SV.

Digby.
"Also, congratulations to Senator Clinton, who in my view showed Democrats what a fighter looks like. This is the closest primary in history and despite what the bloviators and the gasbags have been saying for months, she had not only a right, but a duty, to fight on until the end for the half of the Democratic party that supported her. Clinton too was an historic candidate who inspired millions of people and she has my admiration."

"Clinton is exploring options to retain her delegates and promote her issues, including a signature call for universal health care."
Good for her and I very much hope she succeeds on this very important issue.
It's about friggin time Americans stopped paying twice as much as the rest of the world for the same care.
And with a Democratic Congress, Senate, and President I think the chances are looking pretty good.

Good points, Dan. If I were HRC, I would be getting a copy of the whitey tape IF it exists. Everybody has a price, so they say. IF that tape exists, someone could become very rich for giving up a copy to the HRC folks. What would a tape like that be worth to HRC? One million? Five million? Ten Million? It's not over till it's over---when the convention takes place to vote on and name the Democratic candidate to run against McCain in the general election. If a tape like that was made public before the convention, it would be the proverbial nail in the coffin for BO, and the superdelegates would abandon him in droves for HRC.
I am reminded of that saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." NEVER underestimate a scorned woman. Ever.

Harpie, I think she's like the snake you caught a glimpse of in the shed. Can't see it but you know it's still there. Still I can only respect her fighting spirit. Would be nice to see that kind of virtue among the rest of that bunch we keep sending back to Washington. Put me on record as saying I don't believe it's over for her before the convention though.

What's so amazing is that conservatives know Hillary and Billy better than their own party. Yes, the Dimocrats think she's gone and she's going to "behave" now. Not on your life! That ain't the Hillary I've known for 20 years! Oops, sorry, that was plagiarized from Barack Obama speaking about Resko, Wright, Phfleger and all the other people under the bus.
The fat lady hasn't sung yet and the PIAPS ain't done yet.
As far as Barack Hussein Obama and change - well you are damn right you are going to get change with him. Change in his positions from day to day, change in what it means to be an American, change in his long time associates when the "mess up" and embarrassment, change in our position on Israel, change in that we've never been a socialistic/ Marxist entity before. Yep a whole lot of change ...........

Oh Happy Day. No more Clintons. Hooray! There will be no 3rd Clinton Presidency. It is so great to wake up in the morning and know that Hillary lost. Anybody But Hillary. ABH. That was my mantra. And it has come TRUE!
I am so glad she is GONE!. I simply could not stand 8 more years of that Clinton sex lies and videotape.
