Wow!!!! This is all a big surprise for me. I thought he was already dead !!!

"Whenever I saw him in recent years, he was always spouting off about political garbage."

I thought he got better with age. Mainly through pointing out the absurdity of religion and conservitism.

And nice title, "Carlin as dead as his career". Is this the compassionate conservatism I hear so much about.

The man is dead and he brought many laughs to millions. May he rest in peace and fuck you for making a derogatory remark about his career because you didn't agree with his politics.

Still pissed about your dissing of George Carlin's career.

Let's put it in perspective. Carlin made more money in one show than your shitty blog would make in a year.

And his career was dead? What's that say about you? Loser.

Geez, jharp ... froth, much?

You didn't appreciate the "Carlin-esque" headline? The man who came to represent all that was politically incorrect for a generation and become famous for, more than anything else, "seven dirty words," ... and his death must be observed with the usual boring saccharine crap?

Get a life. And grab up an extra one for Georgie boy ... I hear he could use one, too, these days! ; )

"spouting off about political garbage"

Ya gotta hate guys who are alway doin' that.

"Ya gotta hate guys "

A time and a place, DB. Carlin used his celebrity to shill for a political view. I don't have to respect that. Hell, he wasn't even funny near the end from what I've seen.

Do they make tie-dyed coffin liners? I mean, he was just a bit out of fashion. Just sayin'

Oh and I'll add - Carlin, through his sixties mentality, came to represent much of what is wrong with America, as far as I'm concerned.

A more pathetic, self-indulgent decade we have not seen. I don't think much of the man's legacy at all really. Just another circus clown dropped dead without contributing much of anything to the world that proved, ultimately, positive. But he was good for some yuks at one point.

"Oh and I'll add - Carlin, through his sixties mentality, came to represent much of what is wrong with America, as far as I'm concerned"

Wrong again.

Carlin made fun of what is wrong with us today. We''re a country full of religious fanatics who have all touch with reality.

Things are going so well today after 7 years of conservatism and religious kooks molding our policy. Right?

"lost all touch with reality"

This is despicable. I never cared much for Carlin's work or viewpoints, but I would much prefer his company to yours -- I don't care to be grouped in with one for whom political opinion trumps respect for life.

One might wonder if he found grace from the Lord Jesus Christ.

"----- And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. -----"
(Revelation 20:15, KJV)

That is the question we all must face before we die.

"-- Oh and I'll add - Carlin, through his sixties mentality, came to represent much of what is wrong with America, as far as I'm concerned. --"

Gasp. Dan's knee-jerk hatred of liberals extends to comedians, too. This coming from a man who regularly calls out John Stewart and Steven Colbert for not being funny enough.

We all know conservative humor - embodied by the Bill Engal Show - is, in and of itself, a joke. It's just touching to see a wingnut blogger proudly declare his inability to appreciate any humor that didn't come out of his grandparents' generation.

I'm not even going to pretend to defend George Carlin's long and illustrious career. Needless to say this is right up with the rest of wingnut denial-of-reality logic we've all grown to know and laugh at.

Can I have his stuff?

The Times article closes with this line.

“I don’t have pet peeves,” he said, correcting the interviewer. And with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he added, “I have major, psychotic hatreds.”

Sounds like they interviewed several of the resident trolls here for their story!

Yeah, sad that he's dead and you're still alive. He had a gift of wit, at least. No one will ever accuse Carlin of being a halfwit ... as has, is, and will continue to be suggested, with justice, about your snotty self.

Yoda wants to know;

"Can I have his stuff?"

If you can prove that the gerbil they found in his house was yours! I think Richard Gere has first dibs though.

Good news Yoda,

It looks like Gere's gerbil is accounted for after all:

http://fdharper.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/richard-geres-gerbil-dies/

Isn't that yellow-toothed old man the same age??? I guess sitting around in his pajamas inn a SE Asian Marriott for 6 years has kept him young at, uh, heart.

Actually he seemed to me to personify the angry old white man syndrome.
Also he and Tim Russert were both Irish Catholics. Something there but I am not sure what. Both from NY state. Gotta watch those Irish Catholics.
I read somewhere recently that white Catholics have voted for the winner in the last 8 Presidential elections. Who will they vote for this time? Take a guess.

I consider you post title in very bad taste. Regardless of your opinion I think you should have exercised discretion and erred on the side of class.

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2008/06/media-myopia.html

Tsudohnimh, check out his eulogy to Tim Russert. Dan is nothing if not a pro at jamming a foot in his mouth.

"Just another circus clown dropped dead without contributing much of anything to the world that proved, ultimately, positive. But he was good for some yuks at one point."

That will be perfect eulogy for a certain corpulent, underemployed blogger. Keep working on those Freedom Fries, patriot.

Something tells me that Dan's post has probably been noted in the hallowed halls of liberalism out there in DKos-land and Balloon-Juice and the like.

Hence the uptick in the hippie commenting population.

Apparently the humor challenged here are too stoned to remember his 2nd most famous routine...

"Carlin made fun of what is wrong with us today. We''re a country full of religious fanatics who have all touch with reality.

Things are going so well today after 7 years of conservatism and religious kooks molding our policy. Right?"

jharp,

Oh yeah, that's right: those darn Baptists keep cutting off people's heads and trying to ram trucks full of explosives into Obama Campaign Headquarters. The snake-handling Pentacostals are a real bitch too--shooting abortionist doctors, "necklacing" feminists, and murdering uppity judges in front of their families. And don't forget the Assemblies of God: they're the worst of all--they're totally gone from chain-smoking dried tree moss. The Assemblies High Command considers Unitarians to be apostates, so they flay them alive whenever they catch them. They also hang homosexuals and Reform Jews from cranes and then use their dangling bodies for target practice.

Yeah, cupcake, it's a real nightmare living under a religious theocracy. How on earth have you managed to cope all these years without either going totally mad or simply flipping over to the government and joining an religious Einsatzgruppe?

Extremism is no stranger to the Secular Humanists and liberal socialists who came after them, who are altogether responsible for the Islamic plague infesting Europe, and which will also be brought to our shores despite our best efforts to fight Islam overseas.

We will be handing our latter-day communists they keys to the White House and to the Congress come November, and with that, we will complete the rejection of Almighty God from being King, and fall prostrate before the throne of Satan's humanist dogma.

But let the humanists who would sell our nation into the hands of Islam know that after we have disposed of the Islamic hordes, we shall be coming after them next.

"But let the humanists who would sell our nation into the hands of Islam know that after we have disposed of the Islamic hordes, we shall be coming after them next."

It is not a good idea to threaten people on the internet and I strongly discourage you from doing it.

It's a message board for God's sake.

Hey Harpo,

As the famous corn-hole-o said "Are you threating me?"

Regardless of your point of view the tactic of using threats over the internet is un-called for.

Being a fellow golfer I thought you might like to hear I holed a 5 wood from 185 yards yesterday for a eagle on a par five! With 23 putts I shot a 81 to break out of a 3 month long funk. I had a hole in one with the same club 3 years ago so let's have that grudge match you talked about before! (I'm a 13 handicap by the way).

Now quit making me agree with you will ya, It makes me spew chunks!

How come the people who are against abortion are always people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?

Good stuff.

"A more pathetic, self-indulgent decade we have not seen. I don't think much of the man's legacy at all really."

Conservatives can just not let go of giving black people equal rights. It continues to upset them.

"--- Conservatives can just not let go of giving black people equal rights. It continues to upset them. ---"

Huh?

What planet are you on, man? Rights are one thing. Under the Constitution, we are all equal under the law.

Unless of course, you are talking about artificially imposed hiring quotas, affirmative action and reparations. But those are not "rights", but mechanisms meant to "correct" the supposed excesses and injustices of the past 400 years of "viktum"-hood.

And lest we travel down the tired old Confederate Highway again, bear in mind that slavery and mistreatment of Negroes in CSA was for only four years, as opposed to the then nearly 90 years of it in the USA, and about 150 years of it during the time of the British North American Colonies.

Additionally, racism persisted in the North for just as long after the War of Southron Independence as it did in the South up until the 1960s.

The devil in the details is that racism still exists, but not with the degree of state and federal sponsorship that existed in previous generations.

It is a fact of life, that racism exists -- and while in Christ, a true Christian can overcome the surly bonds of race and ethnic identity to embrace all the sons of Noah as the extended human family we all are.

But the demon racism still exists, regardless of political labels -- and liberals are just as guilty of it as conservatives.

Just check out any post out of three that BobinStamford/chris vomits up on this board.

So cut the malarkey about racism as if it is only a "conservative thing that we haven't let go of".

Liberals are among the worst, inveterate racists... quite more so than the nutty Klan member who wears his under a bedsheet, but still out in the open where he could easily be struck down for his foolishness.

Liberal racism is especially evil, since they hide behind an ugly veneer of smug self-righteousness, whilst making an industry of race-baiting and tossing racial brickbats about in a manner that keeps the Democratic Party ever mired in the morass of identity politics.

Such fascinating commentary from an underworked gubment drone who believes in flying demons and 1,000 year old men. Since you appear incapable of doing any real work, please continue.

Yeah, well, some of you two-faced liberal assholes who post on this blog made fun of the death of Charleton Heston, so all you tools need to shut up about Dan's post on George Carlin, considering the fact that you said nothing about chris/Boob and his hateful comments, other than, "I just think he's mocking you wingnuts".

You liberals have no right to use the word classy. Studies prove you to be a sorry form of humanity.

"--- ... who believes in flying demons and 1,000 year old men. ---"

Boy, that really stuck in yer craw, didn't it, chris/Bob?

Thing is, God's words are true. Every single one of them. And because you cannot think for yourself, nor ask God to show you His truth, you will ever be deceived by the doctrines of demons who teach you that you are not a special creation of God who is loved by him, but that you are a mere cosmic accident, a freak of chance... that evolved from a sea slug or a orangutan.

A pitiful place to be in, chris/Bob.

I pray that you shall be delivered from your demonic bondage.

"Liberal racism is especially evil, since they hide behind an ugly veneer of smug self-righeousness, whilst making an industry of race baiting..."

Good grief, seek, I have never seen a better description of some of our liberal posters, notably the goof known here as chris/Boob and the Islamic animal from S. America. If either one of those two were only half as smart as they thought they were, they would be in the genius category.

Why so angry? You and your lovely wife can now visit your private-school-educated enlistee offspring and stay at the Willard (I suggest the tasting menu at the Willard Room) instead of the Kandahar Best Western. Only the best for you!

"Liberals are among the worst, inveterate racists... quite more so than the nutty Klan member who wears his under a bedsheet, but still out in the open where he could easily be struck down for his foolishness."

Ah right. Liberals are the worst racists. Worse than the people who murdered wholesale simply for the color of men's skin.

Idiot

Gee, Dan doesn't like Carlin. Big surprise. But for a guy in his 70s, his career was doing pretty damn well.

Carlin placed second on the Comedy Central cable television network list of the 10 greatest stand-up comedians, ahead of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor.

In 2001, Carlin was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 15th Annual American Comedy Awards.

On June 18, 2008, four days before his death, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC announced that Carlin would be the 2008 honoree of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor to be awarded in November of that year.

The Republicans via Ken Mehlman actually apologized for being racists.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-07-14-GOP-racial-politics_x.htm

gee, president carter liked the lost-all-semblance-of-talent-30-years-ago george carlin.

big surprise. because, of course, only an idiot liberal would think a standup comedy routine of 1)"the republican president is *stupid*!" (pause for appreciative laughter)
2)"if your politics don't match mine exactly, you're *stupid*!" (pause)
3)"people who do things i disagree with are *stupid*!" (pause)

yep, that's some SUPERfine comedy right there. we've lost a comic GIANT, we have. naturally, the liberals are telling us it's a huge loss. it ain't.

Haha, DAN RIEHL slagging George Carlin's career?! Oh Jesus, that's gold.

"Worse than the people who murdered wholesale simply for the color of men's skin."

The left murders people because of what's in their heads, not their skin color. What was Che's personal body count again? Refresh my memory.

"George Carlin"
"Lenny Bruce
"Richard Pryor"

Ah, yes. Noble cultural heroes, drug addicts, and purveyors of obscenity.

And from all outward appearance, died without Christ, and are presently all burning in Hell for all eternity.

Yup, them folks are some role models we can all aspire to.

If you weren't so frigging sanctomnoious, you'd be able to laugh at those guys' routines. Yeah, they had their problems, like millions of people, but they overcame their problems to make other people laugh.

Carlin was an atheist. He didn't share your faith in an "invisible man in the sky".

"--- If you weren't so frigging sanctomnoious, (sic) you'd be able to laugh at those guys' routines. ---"

I saw Richard Pryor's and Carlin's acts years ago, well before I found grace through Christ... and my opinion of them as being generally un-funny and generally obscene was then as it is now.

"--- Carlin was an atheist. He didn't share your faith in an "invisible man in the sky". ---"

If you ever dig deeper into these men's lives, you may find that their lives are full of bitterness and hatred of God.

Those who willfully reject God are bitter because they have no hope of escaping Hell. Deep in their hearts, they know this... even if they have managed to deceive others as well as themselves.

"died without Christ, and are presently all burning in Hell for all eternity."

The idea that you are going to get some kind of eternal 'reward' must be what keeps losers like you going. Something to ponder while in your bathroom/library/laundry room.

lol

"--- The idea that you are going to get some kind of eternal 'reward' must be what keeps losers like you going. ---"

Eternal Life, forgiveness from sins, fellowship with the Creator of the Universe: yes, these are definitely promises that keep me looking to Jesus.

And if I am wrong - what will I have missed beyond living a wholesome and well-rounded life?

However, if I am right (and more importantly, if the True and Living God is right), then I shall have my reward.

But what will become of you, when you finally face the reality of being thrown into the Lake of Fire for rejecting your chance at salvation through Christ?

BS - there are plenty of happy people leading fulfilling lives that don't happen to believe in your god. You're welcome to believe whatever you want, but to think the only path to happiness is the one you're on is delusional.

Humor is certainly personal, but there are millions who find Pryor, Bruce and Carlin hysterical.

It's comical to hear a clown who can't even afford to drive his little yellow (like pacman) wife to NJ to buy groceries condemn billions of people to eternal damnation.

"--- ...but to think the only path to happiness is the one you're on is delusional. ---"

Now you've put words in my mouth; I did not say that.

And it seems that you are confusing "happiness" with "joy".

Happiness is a more fleeting thing, often derived in the comforts of the flesh, and is not contingent with Salvation. "Joy" on the other hand, can only come from the filling of the soul in Christ with the Holy Spirit.

The only way men (and women) can be saved is for them to repent of their sins, turn to Jesus for forgiveness, and make Him Lord of their lives.

Gee, Bob/chris - thanks for the racist remarks. Are you sure you are a liberal? Because, after all, liberals are never racists, right?

And don't you worry about li'l ole me. I can take care of my family well enough.
